What was the experience like for you as actors

to work throughout the length of the show and

to experience that sort of continuing edginess and new

chances being being taken all at the time and

that's what I think.

I think the fact that we take no prisoners

we go after everybody so brilliant.

That's what I think.

One of the testaments to the beginning of the show

is that James L. Brooks was the producer.

And therefore, he had quite a bit of clout

to one of his stipulations was no notes from network executives.

And is one of the rare shows that does not get notes from other than

standards of practice and even then they don't always listen to it.

And it's not to say, oh, they couldn't give legitimate laws, but the fact of the

matter is I've known enough showrunners that there are too many people in too many

different positions giving contrary notes.

And so there you have writers trying to please like 12 people with 12 different opinions

and that's why a lot of stuff doesn't come through.

didn't pick it up.

But my observation related to that is we have

been on the air long enough that we've gone

completely around from being denounced by conservative Christians when

we started the show for part being a bad

role model for the show being bad for children

to watch to myself because I do both love

joy and Ned having been the subject of cover

articles in two Christian magazines.

hailing the Simpsons as the most moral show on television.

And there is a cult.

I've been made aware of this because I had

to do an interview about it for the BBC

recently, a cult of Christians in England who dress

up as Ned Flanders and convene on a regular basis.

This only goes to show what happens when you

stay on television long enough.

careers

our

standpoint

each

we've

it

down

a

fine

art

we're

in

a

tan

and

we're

out

by

breaks,

We

don't

even

stop

for

lunch.

It's

just

like

you

eat

in

between

if

you're

lucky.

And if you have one scene off, you can go and make a phone call.

But usually we're all-- because of the voices that we do.

But you do feel like a family that there's a closeness between you.

I think we have tremendous--

I respect every one here on the stage.

Yeah.

We see each other so rarely that we've learned more about each other

tonight.

It's true that it's true.

I think there's something to be said to our show

being frozen in time.

And so, it kind of has an insular quality to it.

But in the end, we don't socialize outside of the show.

We just have this extraordinary chemistry within what we do.

Yeah, we are all family, but it's a very

specific, weird kind of family.
