[Episode 22]

The evidence is overwhelming.

I've written grievances with my blood.

Please show justice.

Mr. Wei, how did it go?

Things got big.

His Majesty orders the Bureau of Astronomy to intervene in the interrogation.

Song Qing and Chu Caiwei have been summoned to the palace.

The three judicial offices will handle this case together.

There will be a result shortly.

Does anyone have objections?

Zhang Feng was dismissed, so the position of Minister of Defence was vacant.

Everyone has their own thoughts.

Princess Pingyang's elopement disgraced the royal family.

His Majesty is hesitant and undecided.

Yet Princess Lin'an wrote a letter in her own blood,

which silenced the courtiers.

His Majesty had no choice but to act.

How's Princess Lin'an?

Princess Lin'an is a person of love and righteousness.

She knelt for a long time and refused to rise.

His Majesty issued an order.

Yet she was reluctant to leave.

Why did she stir up things?

It involved the Guardians, arousing His Majesty's suspicions.

She has been close to Pingyang since childhood.

She cares about things related to Pingyang.

But she made a mistake.

You know why His Majesty favors her.

She's ignorant of worldly affairs and has never interfered in politics.

Yet now, she has got involved in party strife.

A letter written in blood has brought the Minister of Defence down.

His Majesty may not speak of it. But how could he not mind?

His Majesty already harbors doubts about you.

From now on, you must be even more careful and meticulous in your actions.

Lin'an made a stupid mistake.

Mother, Father is suspicious.

But as the Crown Prince, I need to learn how to gain Father's trust.

For an adulterous girl,

is it worth losing His Majesty's favor?

It's worth it.

She is not an adulterous girl.

She just wants freedom.

Is that wrong?

Look, what kind of attitude is that?

It already happened.

Lin'an is indeed impetuous.

Yet she's affectionate and righteous.

If you blame Lin'an for me, and Father and courtier hear of it,

they will think of me as a power-hungry, cold, and unrighteous person.

Pingyang.

Have you obtained your freedom?

[Three days later].

Heng Yuan, you may leave.

Come on.

Number Three has told me all about it.

What will you plan to do?

The Emperor has already made a decision.

In three days, Zhang Feng and his son will be beheaded at the market entrance.

[Guiyue Tower]

Greetings, Your Highness.

No need for formalities. Please sit.

The case is concluded, and Zhang Feng is to be beheaded.

The position of the Minister of Defence is vacant.

It's an important position.

The courtiers must be vying for it fiercely.

There is a small meeting today. Let's wait for the news together.

Yes.

Your Highness.

It's alright.

At the court meeting, everyone recommended their own candidates

for the position of the Minister of Defence.

The debate was intense.

What about Mr. Wei?

Mr. Wei did not recommend anyone.

Do you truly have no one in mind?

I have no one to recommend for the moment.

If that is the case,

Mr. Cao, appoint the new Minister of Defence according to your suggestion.

Yes, Your Majesty.

Alright, if there's nothing else, you may withdraw.

Your Majesty, I have a matter to report.

Speak.

Bronze Gong Xu Qi'an has helped a lot with the case of Princess Pingyang.

I request Your Majesty to spare him from the death penalty.

The related memorials were submitted to the inner court yesterday.

Your Majesty, the case is not yet concluded.

It's too early to pardon him now.

You actually brought such filth into this place.

I…

How dare you!

Your Majesty, please pardon me. I apologize.

Look.

I'll look.

- Take a look. - Where is it?

You brought dirty stuff in.

Have I not told you?

- Freshen up before coming here. - Yes.

How come you never remember?

I've remembered it now.

Clean it. Clean it thoroughly.

This is dirty.

I'll clean it.

And that, clean it.

Here.

- Wipe. - Come on.

I'm on it.

Your Majesty.

Mr. Wei will compromise to get ahead.

He probably wants to save your life.

I'm very grateful to Mr. Wei and Your Highness.

But others will not agree.

Are you referring to Mr. Sun?

I opposed him several times during the Sangbo Case.

Later on, I trespassed into the Ministry of Justice.

He has long regarded me as a thorn.

But rest assured, I am not a pushover.

I won't let him get his way.

Any news from the Crown Prince?

His Highness did not attend the meeting.

Lin'an's blood letter stirred up things.

The Crown Prince is lying low, intending to bide his time.

I hear His Majesty is displeased with Princess Lin'an because of this.

She's a princess. Interfering in politics is a taboo.

Princess Lin'an just wanted to voice grievances for Pingyang.

Unexpectedly, it stirred up things.

She must have expected it.

However, she's very sad about Pingyang's death

and can't pour out her bad emotions.

I hear that since that day, she has not stepped out of Shaoyin Palace.

She will not see you today.

[Shaoyin Palace]

Mr. Xu, Her Highness will not see you.

Please leave.

I know she is in a bad mood.

But her health will be affected if she doesn't eat or drink.

Give this to her.

Just tell her to eat well and take care of her health.

Just give it a try.

And please take this to her as well.

Your Highness, you haven't had any food or water these days.

If this goes on, your health will suffer.

Xu Qi'an specially sent this to you.

He hopes you will eat well and take care of your health.

[Delicacy House]

Egg-yolk pastries? How does he know you love this?

He's quite thoughtful.

Your Highness, many people care about you.

How about you eat some?

I'll leave it here for you.

Xiaogang, how has Lin'an been recently?

Your Highness, the same as before.

She has no food or water.

Your Highness, I think she is grief-stricken, with sorrow filled.

It has damaged her body.

Instead of medicinal diet therapy,

right now, she needs to keep her mind off of things.

During the Lantern Festival, the market was bright as day.

It was a starry night.

I was very pleased to boat with Lin'an.

I hope to spend this day with her every year. Pingyang.

We'll always be happy like this.

Alright.

♫ Laughing as I flick my sleeves ♫

♫ I concealed my sorrows ♫

Since we're out, why not enjoy ourselves?

Life is short. Don't waste time.

Let's sing and drink freely.

Lin'an, let's enjoy ourselves.

So happy!

Happy!

♫ Fully aware of the world's misery and cold ♫

♫ Only wish to grant you peace ♫

♫ Joy and sorrow never intertwine ♫

♫ Flowers fall from above ♫

♫ The fragrance of sleeves ♫

♫ I dedicate my life to you ♫

♫ To bloom forth ♫

Your Highness, that painting…

Pingyang's painting came onto the market.

My guest scholar discovered it unintentionally.

So I bought it.

Rumors say you and Princess Lin'an have always been at odds.

Yet you know she likes salty flavors

and loves the egg-yolk pastries from Delicacy House.

You secretly got back a missing painting for her.

With your intelligence, what do you think?

You and her are sisters with different goals.

The Sangbo case is unresolved. Take care.

Mother, I want to eat the pastry from Guiyue Tower.

No way.

Don't think of it.

Lingyin, recite what you learned to me.

I have already memorized it

When a baby is born, its nature is good.

By nature…

I'm back, Douding.

Qi'an.

I bought you tasty yogurt, here.

You're rich, aren't you?

- Contribute more to the family expenses. - I'm back.

Thank you, Qi'an.

Where is Cijiu?

He's preparing for the imperial examinations at the academy.

Lingyue, what's going on?

Just these? Where's the meat?

The household budget is insufficient

Qi'an, father, let's eat.

Wait a moment.

Let me make this clear.

Li Ru. If I remember correctly, we just gave you money.

The end of the year is approaching. We need to buy many things.

The money you gave me is not enough.

Aren't there still several months to go?

What's the rush?

Next month, I'll give you more, alright?

Qi'an, you promised mother and me to buy new clothes for us.

You don't remember?

I don't remember. When did I say that?

Give me money.

- My leg… - Come on.

It's been a long day for me.

Give me money.

Money.

Fine, you'll only eat vegetables for the rest of your life.

That's great. I love vegetables.

Vegetables are delicious, right?

That's for sure.

You know what? Vegetables are good.

Vegetables are helpful for us who practice martial arts.

Nutritious and organic, they make the body exceptionally strong.

Moreover, green vegetables have a large amount of dietary fiber.

It's helpful for our martial prowess.

Yeah, vegetables are so tasty.

I never realized that vegetables could be this delicious.

From now on, we'll eat vegetables at every meal.

Whoever wants to eat meat should pay, right?

These vegetables are really tasty.

Eat more.

Eunuch Yang.

Congratulations, Mr. Xu.

His Majesty has bestowed a reward.

The Guardian Xu Qi'an solved the case of Princess Pingyang

and saved Princess Lin'an.

Xu Qi'an will get 1,000 taels of gold

and fine silks.

Be noted.

Thank you, Your Majesty.

Congratulations, Mr. Xu.

Return.

Take care, Eunuch Yang.

Let's have a meal at my home when you're free.

Alright.

Guys, thanks. Take care.

Close the door.

Come on, everyone. It's over.

- Come on. - Sorry to disturb.

This is silk?

I only got stuff but no exoneration.

Father, mother.

His Majesty gave these things to Qi'an, not to you.

What are you happy about?

Ningyan, the weather is cool. Have some hot tea.

It's good for your health.

Drinking tea won't help.

When it gets cold, wear more clothes.

Completely isolating from the cold is the best choice.

Sweetie, this is the new clothing I made for you.

It's important to keep warm with clothing,

but he still needs a little tune-up.

Look, over these 20 years,

Ningyan has got healthier thanks to my care.

He's grown up from a baby

to a strong and outstanding man.

And he has gained the appreciation of His Majesty and the Princess.

What do you say?

I have known your kindness.

You all are my family.

So?

- So? - So?

So, you needn't trouble yourselves about these things.

I will handle them appropriately.

Upon further thought,

Li Ru manages the household well.

I believe you'll put the gold

to good use.

That makes sense.

It's very reasonable.

We have lived in this house for over 20 years, right?

So annoying.

Let's buy a new house in the inner city and move.

Okay, let's have a good meal before we move.

I want to eat meat. I need to replenish my protein.

- What would you like? - Two buns, please.

Alright!

Wait, I'll get just one.

Okay, here's your one bun.

Actually, I'll take two buns.

Here you go, your two buns.

Thank you.

- What can I get for you? - I'll have a look.

Come on.

You can't afford a bun?

[A Wealth of Talent] You know it.

Ever since the tax silver case, my family has gone broke.

Besides, lately, many things have happened.

I'm afraid my family can't make ends meet this month.

It's not been peaceful recently.

I can't make much money from writing and painting.

I have to save money.

But how can you concentrate on your reading with an empty stomach?

Why not share half of my meal with you?

No, thanks. Reading will make me succeed.

I can study well even if I eat a simple meal.

What's wrong, Cijiu?

That's strange. Aren't outsiders not allowed in the academy?

Who are those two people?

What people?

Are you having visions because you're hungry?

Come on. Have some of my sausage.

No, thanks.

They were right here just now.

There's no one else.

He's Xu Qi'an's cousin, Xu Xinnian.

That is, number Three.

Fortunately, you know his cousin, a Guardian.

That's how we could find number Three.

Without number Three's help,

I couldn't successfully avenge Heng Hui.

Nor would I be released from the dungeon so quickly.

But today may not be a good time for thanks.

Just now, I sensed a force locking onto us.

It must be Zhao Shou.

Yes.

We should not appear at Yunlu Academy.

It would cause trouble for number Three.

Then we'll pick another time.

When he comes down from the mountain,

convey your thanks to him from afar.

That's right.

Real gold.

Thank you for your hard work.

You've shared the difficulties with me.

Since I got a good fortune,

naturally, we must have it together, right?

Ningyan.

You…

Wait a moment.

Chun, here you go.

For your wife.

It's too many. She can't have them all.

She can grind them into powder for her face. Take it.

That's too extravagant.

Thank you on behalf of my wife.

Thank you for pleading for me yesterday.

Unfortunately, the Sangbo case remains unresolved.

His Majesty has yet to pardon you.

I know someone is deliberately making things difficult.

That's not the point.

The key point is,

His Majesty doesn't like you.

I am just a Bronze Gong.

For what reason have I offended His Majesty?

Because of the spirit loong.

It's alright now.

Don't be afraid.

The spirit loong is the royal family's pet.

It's only close to the royal family.

During the investigation of the Sangbo case,

the spirit loong grew close to you in public.

Why did the spirit loong grow close to me?

That's not the main point.

What's important is how to keep you alive.

What should I do next?

Please advise me, Mr. Wei.

There's only one way.

Just wait.

As of today, all traces have been erased.

Once the deadline passes

and His Majesty insists on beheading you,

I'll find a death-row inmate to replace you.

No one will doubt it.

But what if

Zhou Chixiong is captured?

This matter can be settled.

[Yunzhou Stronghold]

Who is there?

Number Two, have you captured Zhou Chixiong?

What's the rush? I'm on it.

Come on, guys, drink up.

Alright.

It seems you don't like these women.

I just so happened to rob a caravan today

and got a beautiful woman.

I'll let her please you.

Are you Zhou Chixiong?

Yes.

So you are Zhou Chixiong?

You are…

Heroine Feiyan?

Shut up. I hate that name.

Master, did I perform well?

The message was delivered quite timely.

So are we going to kill him now?

Please spare my life.

I won't kill you. I'll take you to see someone.

Have a smooth journey.

[Five days later]

Mr. Song, am I seeing wrong?

Did he just put chicken into your burner?

He put in mushrooms and various spices too.

D-Don't interrupt. Keep watching.

Go on.

What is this?

This is the essence I obtained from refining ingredients.

I call it chicken extract.

Chicken extract?

It's edible?

Bring out the noodles.

Mix it?

Have a taste.

Tasty. So savory.

I always believed

that alchemy could only produce tools.

I never thought it could be integrated into cooking.

I got inspired.

I was too narrow-minded.

Alchemy can be found everywhere in life.

Ningyan, could you teach this method to the Bureau of Astronomy?

Of course.

I have many such alchemical techniques.

Mr. Song, if you want them, feel free to take them.

- However… - Equal exchange. I know.

Leave it to me. Caiwei, let's set off.

Caiwei.

You're here.

Yeah, I am.

You still like to show your back to the people.

Even so, I am attracted to you.

I am referring to the important task you have to do today.

I have already left it to Mr. Song.

Disappear.

- And Caiwei. - Disappear.

Now, you only have me to rely on.

He's arrived.

Number Three, I've sent the person over to you.

If I ask for a favor in the future, you will help. Just remember it.

Thanks, man.

Who are you?

Where am I?

I think it's not bad to ride a giant bird.

Xu Qi'an, don't you also think that I need such a bird?

Mr. Yang, it's not suitable for you to ride a bird.

What is it suitable to ride?

Just ride a loong, and you'll become even stronger.

Riding a loong makes you stronger.

But where can I buy it?

It happens that I'm going to the imperial palace.

Take me there, and you ask His Majesty.

Please. Let's go.

I left my stuff there.

- Alright. - Come on.

[Shiqian Gate]

Ningyan.

Upon receiving your message, I've come here.

I've been waiting. What took you so long?

Thank you for coming.

Don't mention it. I couldn't help last time.

I hope to be of assistance this time.

Do you remember the magic book you promised me?

Rest assured, I never go back on my word.

Thank you, sir.

I understand.

I left new works at home.

I will let you review them next time.

It's a deal.

Thank you, sir.

[Yunlu Secret Techniques] You must remember.

[Qi Observation] With your level,

[A gentleman should be sincere] you can only use basic magic right now.

Just tear off a page and ignite it with the Qi, it'll work.

But remember, you are not a student of the academy.

Do not use it frequently.

Otherwise, the Qi will be disordered and your physical strength will be overdrawn.

I see. Thank you, sir.

Put it away.

Why are you here?

Why is she here too?

Why are you here? Where is Mr. Yang?

Mr. Yang--

He said if he turned his back to His Majesty,

he will be beheaded.

He also said that he teleported us here.

Saving time counts as a merit.

I really don't understand him.

He always turns his back to people and doesn't speak properly.

- It's so annoying. - Exactly.

Here's one thing.

Someone taught him a line of poetry.

He repeats it day after day.

It's so annoying that I can't help but kill him.

I didn't teach him.

Let's go. Don't keep His Majesty waiting.

Your Majesty, the Sangbo case is due.

Wei Yuan slandered the Ministry of Justice for colluding with the culprit.

But to this day, there is no evidence.

I hope Your Majesty will punish him.

I agree, hoping Your Majesty to judge.

[Li Yulang, Minister of Rites] Severely punish Wei Yuan

and show justice to wrongfully accused people.

Wei Yuan.

Has the Sangbo case been solved?

Your Majesty, Xu Qi'an has caught Zhou Chixiong.

He is now waiting outside the palace gate.

Summon him.

Summon Xu Qi'an to the court.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Where is Zhou Chixiong?

Bring the person in.

Your Majesty, this is the wanted criminal Zhou Chixiong,

the former Centurion of the Imperial Guards.
