[Guardians of the Dafeng]

[Episode 13]

Number Three. For number Six,

- you actually… - Yes, I did.

I'm moved by what he said. He inspired me.

A righteous person like number Six should not be arrested

or tortured by the Guardians.

As a comrade of number Six, I'll take it all upon myself.

Rest assured, even if I die, I won't regret it.

Good point. Number Three's moral fiber impresses me,

not like Number Four, who's very hypocritical.

In the face of danger, he will run away and hide.

Come on. I told you I was not in the Capital City last night.

Do not judge me.

You claimed to be Heroine Feiyan, right?

Don't you have wings? Why don't you fly up?

I fly? If I fly to the Capital City, I'll come to Lingbao Pavilion and stab you.

Bring it on. I'm waiting for you, Heroine Feiyan.

Just you wait and prepare to die.

I'm right here. Fly to me if you can.

- You just wait. - I'm waiting.

Just you wait.

Guangxiao, what are you thinking about?

About ladies.

I heard you went to Haoqi Tower again yesterday.

And you dismissed Mr. Yang and Ms. Nangong.

- Who told you that? - I heard it from the person involved.

Ms. Nangong talked to Mr. Li.

At Chunfeng Division, she cursed you for four hours straight.

It seems my time at Chunfeng Division is coming to an end.

I don't care what it takes. The power and wealth can't stop me.

I must speak my mind.

Huaiqing is hypocritical.

She ruined my future. She replaced me with a new love.

I'm so stupid and actually deceived by her.

Huaiqing destroyed me.

Huaiqing destroyed me. I've been wronged.

Huaiqing destroyed me.

She said there was an old herb on the mountain. And I ate it.

As a result, it blinded me. Huaiqing destroyed me.

Huaiqing destroyed me.

Huaiqing?

A beggar, a prisoner, and a blind physician

will appear before Xu Qi'an one by one,

lamenting their miserable fate.

There's only one reason behind all this.

Huaiqing destroyed me.

Moreover, we've taken care of it all. This matter will not be leaked.

Meanwhile, it's enough to convince Mr. Xu.

In this way, Xu Qi'an will avoid Huaiqing.

By then, I'll reveal my identity

and actively recruit him, showing that I've forgiven him.

He will think I'm magnanimous

and grateful to me.

You're so wise.

Your Highness, Xu Qi'an is here.

Are you also pretending? Aren't you supposed to be blind?

Kneel.

What's going on?

Your Highness. It's so appalling.

Today, I unexpectedly saw these people with ulterior motives.

They defamed you in public.

That's impudent. You deserve to be condemned.

Xuan, take them away.

Interrogate them strictly to find out who is behind it.

- Come on. - Yes.

No need. I've interrogated them.

The three of them are not unruly mobs and made trouble for some reason.

Someone is behind it, intending to defame you.

Your Highness. Can you guess who it is?

You can't believe

that the evil person behind it

turns out to be your younger sister, Princess Lin'an.

I'm not proud of it, but I've known the motive behind it.

Princess Lin'an wants to recruit me.

So, what do you think of that?

Your Highness. I won't think of that.

Though Princess Lin'an wishes to recruit me,

she probably doesn't know me well.

Otherwise, she wouldn't resort to such means.

I'm loyal and never betray my master. That is my principle.

Never say never.

I think Lin'an did it all because she's sincerely trying to recruit you.

Won't you consider it?

- I understand now. - What have you understood?

I know why you tested me before.

As expected, you're so wise and well-informed.

You knew Lin'an intended to recruit me.

So you deliberately tested me last time to see if I'd choose another master.

You've guessed it.

Rest assured, I'll keep my word with my actions.

I'll take these men to the yamen for punishment.

No need.

I'm already aware of your loyalty.

However, there's something fishy about this.

I need to interrogate them personally.

Xuan. Keep an eye on them.

Well, you do your things.

Alright, I'll take my leave.

Xuan. Don't let them hurt the princess.

Alright.

Take care.

Are you alright?

What happened? How did you get exposed?

We insisted Huaiqing was to blame as you ordered.

Unexpectedly, Mr. Xu knows a great scholar from the academy.

[Truth Talisman] A gentleman should be sincere.

The same goes for the commons.

Before meeting the great scholar, we didn't change our stories.

However, they used the Truth Talisman on us.

We even got beaten up.

We were tortured physically and mentally.

Your Highness, we've done what we can.

Alright. Xuan, give each of them 20 taels.

- Let them go home. - Okay.

Thanks, Your Highness.

Please.

- Careful. - Sorry.

Your Highness. What should we do?

I didn't expect Mr. Xu to be so clever.

We became the victims of what we did.

Not to mention Princess Huaiqing,

I'm even greatly moved to hear this.

She was indeed greatly shaken.

So Huaiqing had reservations about you?

Yeah. Huaiqing verbally tested me before.

It confused me for a while.

Unexpectedly, Lin'an made a move.

I took this chance to show my loyalty.

So Princess Huaiqing trusts you now, doesn't she?

Not just Princess Huaiqing.

Yesterday, I showed off my skills in front of Mr. Wei.

Now, he also trusts me.

You got two backers in a day.

Ningyan.

Thanks to you, our family will become powerful soon.

I'm flattered, Pingzhi.

I still have to ask you for more advice.

After all, in terms of social interactions, you're more experienced.

No. You're better than me.

You're about to surpass me.

You taught me martial skills.

No, I've aged. You'll outdo me.

No. You're always my role model.

Look, the world belongs to you.

The future is yours. Everything is yours.

Without you, there would be no me.

Pingzhi, let me kowtow to you.

You mustn't be too modest, Ningyan.

No, let me kowtow to you.

No.

[Guardian]

Mr. Tao.

Where is Xu Qi'an?

I don't know. He was just here.

Mr. Li.

Where is Xu Qi'an?

[Chunfeng Division] Why are you looking for him?

I'm here for Xu Qi'an.

Let him work for the Weiwu Division.

What do you mean?

Mr. Jiang wants him.

He sent me to take Xu Qi'an.

Xu Qi'an is incredibly lucky.

Don't touch it.

You tell Mr. Jiang that I disagree.

How dare you refuse him.

I'm telling you, I'm here to inform you.

Mr. Jiang is waiting for him.

Even if Mr. Jiang comes personally, my answer will be the same.

I disagree.

Have you gone mad?

How dare you disrespect Mr. Jiang.

Though he is a Gold Gong,

I can't let him take my man away as he likes.

No way.

Are you drunk on fake liquor?

You are drunk on fake liquor.

Don't be cocky in my place.

You watch your mouth.

I dare you to say it again. Let's get this straight.

Shut your mouth.

How dare you disobey Mr. Jiang.

Fine, I can't shut my mouth.

Anyway, don't talk to me anymore.

[Jingxin Tower]

Turns out Xu Qi'an

is the Quick-Acting Constable who solved the tax silver case.

He's the one who solved the case after seeing the dossier?

Yes. I'm in charge of the murder case of Earl Pingyuan now.

Mr. Wei has withstood the pressure for me from all sides.

but I absolutely can't slack off.

Otherwise, Mr. Wei will doubt my ability.

Xu Qi'an is skilled in case solving.

He's exactly the talent I need.

You have a discerning eye.

Once Mr. Tao brings him here,

let him investigate Earl Pingyuan's case.

It's more than that.

There's another matter.

What is it?

He has a deep connection with the Bureau of Astronomy.

If he works for me,

I can use him to purchase magic tools from the Bureau of Astronomy

to enhance our combat power.

Mr. Jiang.

What's it?

Li Yuchun drove me out.

What?

Mr. Wei, I've thought it through.

I want Xu Qi'an to work for me.

Why?

I have an important case to solve.

Xu Qi'an is talented in handling cases.

He can assist me with the case.

I'll shape him to be great.

Mr. Wei.I have quite a few cases on my hands.

Frankly, Xu Qi'an has made much progress under my command.

It's obvious to all.

Yang Yan. I'll give the position of Commander to you.

I only want Xu Qi'an.

That position is supposed to be mine.

I don't need you to give it to me.

Mr. Wei, I give up the position of Commander

and the magic tools from the Bureau of Astronomy.

- I only want Xu Qi'an. - I don't want magic tools. I want Xu Qi'an.

- I want Xu Qi'an, Mr. Wei. - I want Xu Qi'an, Mr. Wei.

This is between the two of you. I won't step in.

Good, tell me.

How can I get Xu Qi'an?

I'm telling you, I won't give him to you.

You…

Mr. Yang, I have an urgent matter to report.

Speak.

Mr. Jiang wants Xu Qi'an.

What?

Mr. Jiang, you're wasting your time.

How about you go back and we'll notify you later?

No need.

Mr. Yang.

You're just here in time.

Can Xu Qi'an work for me?

No way.

I insist on it.

Follow the rules.

Have you heard?

Mr. Jiang and Mr. Yang went to the arena.

They're fighting for a Bronze Gong according to the rules.

I can't believe it. It's worth fighting for a Bronze Gong?

This morning, Tao Man went to Li Yuchun for that guy.

Yet Li Yuchun refused.

They had an argument and reported it to Gold Gongs.

It's rare to see fights among high-ranking warriors.

- Let's have a look. - Let's go.

What happened between Yang Yan and Jiang Lvzhong?

Two Gold Gongs are fighting over a Bronze Gong.

This is embarrassing.

They will be a laughingstock.

I'm telling you, this Bronze Gong is no ordinary person.

Yang Yan. Are you being serious with me?

Bring it on. No talking.

Good.

They're here for the same person?

Mr. Jiang, you know what?

The Bronze Gong you are fighting over

got a First Grade Upper.

First Grade Upper?

Yang Yan. Your opponent is me.

Keep fighting. The fiercer, the better.

As long as Xu Qi'an doesn't work for Yang Yan,

I'm okay with any results.

What did she say?

She said the Bronze Gong they're fighting over

got a First Grade Upper.

First Grade Upper?

Xu Qi'an?

I just got a Second Grade Upper.

He got a First Grade Upper?

Where is he?

Where has everyone gone?

Hurry. We must watch the fight.

[Chunfeng Division] Where are you going, guys?

We're going to watch Gold Gongs fight. Come.

Gold Gongs fight?

Wait for me.

This punch is fierce.

Buddy, what's the story?

I heard a Bronze Gong joined the yamen. He got a First Grade Upper.

They're fighting over that guy.

Since the Guardians were established,

there has never been First Grade Upper.

That's incredible.

This is the disparity among people.

By the way, what's the name of that Bronze Gong?

From which division?

Why are you asking about this?

You're being stupid.

That guy's future is definitely bright.

Now, he's a Bronze Gong so we still can meet him.

We should find the chance to make friends with him.

Good point.

Does anyone know who that Bronze Gong is?

He seems to be from the Chunfeng Division.

His surname is Xu.

He's a Bronze Gong.

Yeah.

Which one is Mr. Xu from the Chunfeng Division?

That should be me.

Mr. Xu. Mr. Wei is looking for you.

Come with me.

Buddy, I can't take this with me.

Do me a favor. I'll treat you to a drink later.

Mr. Wei. He's going to see Mr. Wei.

Mr. Wei. Are you looking for me?

- Come here. - Yes.

Yang Yan breaks through with his mind.

His spear skills are well-tempered.

If he continues to refine his physique,

within ten years, he will break through to the third rank.

Lvzhong is vigorous

with a perfect physique.

If he integrates martial skills into his punches like Yang Yan does,

he will be a match for Yang Yan.

Therefore,

have you decided who you work for?

I don't dare to decide.

There's something you dare not do?

The matter with Tiandi Society happened suddenly.

I…

Alright.

I don't blame you.

Sit.

It's about your future.

So, I want to hear your true thoughts.

On the field,

Gold Gongs are fighting.

Off the field,

idlers are watching.

To get the First Grade Upper,

all can be discarded.

How is it? Has my poetry improved?

Focus your energy on martial arts.

Mr. Xu.

So, what did Mr. Wei say to you?

Just small talk.

He asked me which Gold Gong I wanted to pick.

What did you say?

We'll talk about it later. Watch the fight.

Wow.

Mr. Wei, are you looking for me?

They're all fighting.

Why don't you fight?

Not interested.

Didn't you want Xu Qi'an to work for you?

What happened?

You know the answer.

Yang Yan has been disregarding me lately

So, you spread the news that Xu Qi'an got a First Grade Upper?

It's a blow to Yang Yan's pride.

Alright.

Call them all back.

Yes.

The matter about Xu Qi'an has been settled?

Who did he choose?

Think about it.

If I choose Mr. Yang,

other Gold Gongs will feel embarrassed.

It will put me in an awkward spot.

Yes.

You choose Mr. Jiang.

Mr. Jiang has a strong character.

If you follow him, no one will bully you.

That would be even worse.

Not to mention that I'll embarrass Mr. Yang,

in Mr. Jiang's eyes, I'll be a betrayer.

There will be a wall between us.

It'll be torturous to work with him.

Makes sense.

So you choose anyone?

Of course, I have to choose.

However, I have to let someone else choose for me.

What?

What do you mean by that?

Who won?

I won.

If I hadn't restrained myself,

you wouldn't have lasted ten rounds.

If I were to use a spear,

you wouldn't be a match for me.

Come off it.

- Why not fight again? - Go ahead.

- Good. - Yang Yan.

Yes.

Make tea.

Yes.

I've talked to Xu Qi'an.

About the job transfer matter,

he has his own thoughts.

What did he say?

As I know about Gold Gongs,

I'm unable to make the best choice.

That's easy.

If you want to improve your martial skills, just follow Yang Yan.

If you want to train your physique,

Jiang Lvzhong is your best choice.

I'm not devoted to martial arts.

Or rather, as a Guardian,

what I pursue is not the level of martial power.

So what is it?

Do you remember why you rated me as First Grade Upper?

Xu Qi'an said he had expressed his thoughts in this poem.

[All I have comes from the people. It's easy to fool the commoners.]

So, you let Mr. Wei choose for you?

Sure.

Since either way is wrong, I'll shut up

and let Mr. Wei decide.

Why did you compose that poem before? Isn't that unnecessary?

You don't understand. If I suggest Mr. Wei choose right away,

he will think I'm timid and indecisive.

But I mentioned that poem.

Firstly, it clearly shows my stance.

I'm an honest and righteous Guardian.

Secondly, it enables me to express my aspirations through poetry,

bringing me closer to Mr. Wei.

After all, he must have liked my poem

so he rated me as First Grade Upper.

Brilliant.

Brilliant. Kill two birds with one stone.

Xu Qi'an, come here and let me have a look. No, I'll come and look.

I'll come over. You're full of tricks.

Go away.

No big deal.

It's essential for office workers to precisely grasp the likes and dislikes

of their immediate superiors.

- Office workers? - I mean, Guardians.

Awesome. Mr. Wei will select the best Gold Gong for you.

Well,

could you get us both over there?

You two want a transfer?

The Gold Gong is much better than the Silver Gong.

Mr. Xu. Mr. Wei has made a decision.

Who will Xu Qi'an work for?

I have no idea. Silver Gong Li is looking for you.

- Make way. - Clear the way.

Clear this path.

Mr. Xu is going out.

Applause.

Mr. Li.

That's your decision?

Well,

that's Mr. Wei's.

I heard you went to the Haoqi Tower.

It was not a choice you made?

Of course not. I am just a Bronze Gong.

I have no right to choose.

But I argued reasonably.

I plucked up the courage to ask Mr. Wei

if I may stay at Chunfeng Division and follow your lead.

Follow my lead?

Mr. Li.

To be honest, at first, I wanted to leave.

But after spending some time together,

I've come to see myself as a member of the Chunfeng Division.

Whenever I step into this house, I feel the same way.

When going out on cases, I also feel the same way.

Although

you have misunderstandings about me,

from the bottom of my heart,

I truly want to stay at Chunfeng Division.

What did Mr. Wei say?

Mr. Wei found it strange.

If you choose me, a Silver Gong, over a Gold Gong

anyone will find it strange.

That's prejudice.

Silver Gongs and Gold Gongs are Guardians serving the people.

They're equal.

- Do you really think so? - I've always thought so.

It's just a pity that that's only my thought.

Who am I?

I'm just a Bronze Gong.

No one will listen to me.

Mr. Wei ignored me in the end.

Mr. Li. I owe you.

Whenever you need me, I will do my best to help in any case.

No, Ningyan.

- You don't have to. - I have to.

I'm a member of the Chunfeng Division forever.

No matter where I am,

my heart is left for you

and in Chunfeng Division.

I'm so happy

to hear that.

I'll get the transfer token for you.

Here it is.

It's not appropriate to look at it here.

[Li Yuchun]

Surprise, huh? You actually convinced Mr. Wei.

Ningyan. What's wrong with you?

I'm good. I'm just too excited.

Mr. Wei really assigned me to you?

Mr. Wei wrote it himself. No one can change it.

It's unchangeable?

Rest assured, it can't be changed.

To prevent others from having designs on you,

Mr. Wei specifically added a time limit.

Three years. For the next three years, you'll be with me.

There will be no further personnel transfers.

Three years?

Li Yuchun? So he still works for Yang Yan?

Mr. Wei, although Yang Yan is your adopted son,

you can't be so partial to him.

Watch your manners!

How long has it been?

It's been a while.

It's not easy for Mr. Li to take it.

After all, it's First Grade Upper.

Mr. Li will be in a bad mood.

About the matter of the job transfer, put it on hold for now.

I feel a bit reluctant to leave.

People strive hard to climb up.

In the near future, I'll be a Gold Gong, and you'll be a Silver Gong.

That's right. Parting may come.

Invite him to the Bureau of Music?

You mean Mr. Li?

What are you doing there?

Look, I can't believe it. Why is he smiling?

He's acting tough.

It's settled.

From now on, we're as close as brothers.

If anyone bullies you, it'll be against Chunfeng Division. [Chunfeng Division]

I won't let them off.

As close as brothers?

It's just a final attempt to hold onto him.

From now on, work hard with me. I'll educate you with all my effort.

Work hard with him?

The last…

What are you doing there? Go back to work.

Okay.

You set a place. Let's have a drink together.

My treat.

Yes, Mr. Li.

What did you call me?

Chun?

Chun.

Good.

Ningyan.

[Chunfeng Division] What's going on? Did I make a mistake?

What's going on?

I also want to know.

Let's go. Gold Gong.

Do I still have a chance to be a Gold Gong?

Actually, I feel happy to work with you.

Let's have a drink?

Leave me alone.

Don't be mad, Mr. Wei. I'm sorry.

Since you've made a decision, I will obey the command.

However, may I know

why you chose Li Yuchun?

Xu Qi'an is quick-witted.

He doesn't follow rigid rules but his heart.

Therefore, he needs a rigid person as his superior.

Li Yuchun is a strict man.

Any one of you will argue with him.

That being said, Li Yuchun is just a Silver Gong.

I don't think Xu Qi'an will submit to him.

He will.

They have the same aspiration. [All I have comes from the people.]

Since you've chosen me, you must do things my way.

As a Guardian, you must not take bribes or violate the law;

you must not disobey orders; and you must not exploit the commons.

Otherwise, though you're one in a million

and climb to a higher position,

I'll never tolerate you.

I'll keep your words in mind, Chun.

It's good to hear that.

Today, let's not talk about work.

Just drink.

- Who will play with me? - I will.

Rock, paper, scissors.

In Chunfeng Division, I've got your back.

- Come on. - I'm a member of the Chunfeng Division forever.

[Happiness] Any other games?

Come here.

Do as I've ordered.

- Go back to work. - Yes.
