- Hello. - Hello.

Long time no see.

Long time no see.

Ms. Jiang,

thank you for the support in the first half of the year.

Let me toast to you.

Ms. Jiang.

Hello,

I'm Fang Lei.

I'll make time to attend the year-end gala.

That would be greatly appreciated.

Mr. Jiang.

Fang Lei?

Long time no see.

When did you return?

I've been back for a while.

I've been meaning to visit you.

But my father said

you're mostly in New York now,

rarely spending time in Jingzhou.

I was busy earlier,

but recently,

my work has stabilized.

Let's catch up when free.

Sure.

Excuse me.

Do you have tomato sauce and honey?

What are these for?

Tomato juice

mixed with honey.

It helps with hangovers.

Does it work?

I've tried it before.

Let's go. We're late.

Wait.

Going to Maggie's later, we'll both get drunk for sure.

This is my secret hangover remedy.

What is this?

Tomato sauce mixed with honey. Family recipe. Try it.

- Does it work? - Of course.

Hurry.

Don't leave until you drink it.

Really?

You are sure to drink a lot

at today's social gathering.

What if I get drunk?

I'll take care of you.

You said it.

I'd feel bad.

I can do it myself.

No worries.

Many guys are careless these days.

Are you free later?

Yes.

What do you want?

Let me introduce you to some friends.

Great. It's my honor.

Mr. Jiang,

hurry up. We've been waiting.

Got it.

Have some food first.

Come find me later.

Make yourself a drink too.

I'll be waiting for you.

What are you doing here?

I'm part of the New District project.

And my father has ties with the Jiang family.

I've known Jiang Liang for years.

I can be helpful here.

Through this approach?

You think I'm embarrassing?

There are just too many people

flocking to Jiang Liang to flatter him.

He knows they want something

and has got used to being fawned over.

He doesn't even care.

But my status differs from theirs.

By showing humility,

I become more valuable to him.

What you offer him

is just emotional validation.

He'll only think of you for fun,

but no real business collaboration.

I'm not that ambitious.

I just want to help our project.

Even a bit more goodwill helps.

Being a decoration or backdrop

is fine by me.

Don't worry about me.

I'm doing this willingly.

I'll head over now.

How've you been, Ms. Jiang?

- I'm doing great. - Sis.

Next time, let me visit your father. It's been a long time.

And my father also misses you a lot.

Mr. Shen.

I'll leave you two to chat.

Okay.

Hello, Ms. Jiang.

I'm Shen Haoming from Jinda Group.

Nice to meet you.

I've long heard of you. Nice to meet you.

- This is one solution. - Exactly.

It's jammed.

Jammed.

Come on.

Excuse me.

Haoming.

You're here.

- Sorry, I'm late. - It's okay.

My wife,

Xu Yan.

Hello.

Ms. Jiang from Yuanhang Fund.

Hello, Ms. Jiang.

I'm Xu Yan.

Miss Xu, nice to meet you.

You two continue. I've got a call.

Okay.

The fieldwork ran late today.

I didn't have time to change. Sorry for the improper attire.

This vest is practical.

It holds many essentials.

Windproof and waterproof too.

Fieldwork fears unpredictable weather most.

Once the equipment is affected,

all efforts are wasted.

You're truly professional.

I always keep things in my vest.

Pens,

spare camera batteries,

my phone,

and voice recorder.

- Xu Yan. - Lots of things.

There's a dance later.

Your current outfit isn't appropriate.

Go to my lounge.

I have spare outfits there.

Is this okay?

Absolutely.

Thank you so much.

- Let's go. - This way?

I think my clothes should fit you.

Definitely.

Ms. Jiang.

Thank you.

It's beautiful.

That necklace suits you too.

Formal wear never feels like me.

It's not like uniforms, comfy,

not tight, and fells free.

Don't just stand. Have a seat.

Thanks.

Mr. Shen is fortunate

to have such a beautiful wife like you.

You handle work well

and even go with him to evening banquets.

A true helpmate.

I don't want to be the woman behind her husband.

Exhaustively supporting him,

managing his daily life,

and handling his company affairs.

I don't think I can manage that.

But that's how women in our circle live.

Having clawed my way up

from the bottom,

I prefer controlling everything myself.

It gives me security

rather than making me an appendage.

I remember you once said,

"Be your own ship,

your own lighthouse,

and your own shore."

When I first read these lines,

I was deeply touched.

I can tell you've researched me thoroughly.

You know I've stayed single all these years

and dislike the dutiful wife narrative.

You showed up in a uniform

to mirror my reporter days

and win my favor.

Am I right?

I guess hardly anyone these days

would wear that kind of vest for interviews.

You're right.

That's how it is.

But it's okay.

You succeeded.

Because just now,

I really saw my past self in you.

I brought a gift for you.

(Years Like Songs)

(Journalist Photo Collection)

I found these photos in the archives.

They're quite old.

When I first started working,

I kept hearing about your legendary stories.

(Amazing Intangible Heritage) But you had already left by then.

So,

that's a pity we never met.

But ever since then,

you've always been my role model.

I'm sorry about earlier.

If everything just now

was some kind of act,

I want you to know this gift

is completely genuine.

Thank you.

This gift...

I really like it.

- Come on. - Cheers!

Let me introduce, everyone.

She's Fang Lei. Just returned from abroad.

This is my good friend,

Chen Heng.

- Nice to meet you. - Heng.

This is also my good friend,

- Wu Chang. - Oh, stop it.

Chang.

This is another recent returnee,

- Wang Hao. - Hi, Hao.

Bottoms up!

- Fill it up. - Top up her glass.

- Absolutely. - Great drinking skills.

Yun.

Kriya, long time no see.

Yeah,

our last meeting

was two years ago

in New York's Central Park.

You finally came back.

The domestic opportunities brought me back.

About the collaboration we discussed, we must make it happen this time.

We must sign the contract, okay?

All the postponed gatherings must also happen now.

What are you doing?

We're drinking, waiting for you.

- Come on. - Let's drink together.

Bottoms up?

Cheers!

Come on.

Am I interrupting?

Xu Yan's husband.

Mr. Shen from Jinda Group.

Hello, Mr. Shen.

Hello.

I've heard so much.

You go ahead.

I'll leave now.

This gown looks stunning.

Is it?

Ms. Jiang picked it.

Without your help, I'd be lost.

I had a great conversation with Xu Yan. We feel like old friends.

That's good.

Would Xu Yan have the honor

to do an exclusive interview with you?

Consider it her debut opportunity.

What's your angle?

Typical elite interviews

just ask successful people

how they view success.

But if you accept my interview,

I want to explore

what role your journalism past played

in your entrepreneurship.

Interested?

Let's walk and talk.

Let's go.

Wipe your mouth.

My deal with Yuanhang Fund is settled.

You don't need to flatter Jiang Liang anymore.

The collaboration has just begun.

There's a long journey ahead.

Any connection that's beneficial to you,

I'll spare no effort

to maintain it well for you.

I think I'm really useless.

Xu Yan is truly impressive.

She's beautiful,

smart,

and capable.

Jiang Yun is such an aloof person.

I don't even dare to approach her.

Yet Xu Yan convinced her

with just a few words.

I truly am becoming more aware

of why she's so captivating to you.

I really can't compare to her.

Drink some warm milk to soothe your stomach.

Thanks, Haoming.

Mr. Shen, I'll take her home first.

I just wanted to check if you have a fever.

There's nothing between us.

Don't think being nice

will make me fall for you.

My heart

belongs solely to Shen Haoming.

It was true before,

and will remain so.

Why put yourself through this?

He has a wife and family.

They have a loving marriage.

There's no possibility between you two.

You don't need to worry about that.

Between him and me,

there's an unbreakable bond.

Outsiders wouldn't understand.

Let's go.

- Where to? - Wait.

You feel something's missing too.

Haoming, come on.

Haoming.

What are you doing here?

Why aren't you asleep yet?

I thought about it a lot,

and still want to ask you.

About you making me interview Ms. Jiang,

why didn't you ask me first?

I just became a host recently.

I'm still inexperienced.

If I ended up ruining

your collaboration, what then?

You're my wife.

You have what it takes.

Didn't you perform well today?

I'm very satisfied.

Stop overthinking.

Go to sleep now.

Mr. Shen,

I'll be straight.

I asked to meet today to discuss

your proposed strategic partnership for the New District project.

I'm looking forward to it. Please go ahead.

I had a wonderful conversation with your wife yesterday.

However, many companies

are currently seeking our investment.

Four have made the preliminary list.

Although you're among them,

I won't choose you

simply because your wife

shares my profession or interests.

Understood.

Mr. Shen,

my sister speaks diplomatically,

but I'll be blunt.

Frankly speaking,

you're not the best candidate.

Without backing from the parent company,

going solo is too risky without safety nets.

So why should we choose you?

Regarding your mention of my wife earlier,

she's a public figure

whose reputation is built on authenticity

and credibility.

Any dishonesty

would be devastating

for both our careers.

That's why

we must be more authentic,

more responsible,

and more meticulous.

You're quite articulate.

In just a few sentences,

it's all to your advantage.

Last night,

we were photographed together

(Shining Business, Dazzling Banquet) at the banquet.

This morning,

(Xunchao Hot Search) it's already trending.

But most importantly...

(Jinda Group, Yuanhang Fund, Stocks)

Both Jinda and Yuanhang's stocks are rising.

To be honest,

the current investment for me

happens to also involve four companies.

So why should I choose Yuanhang?

I'll wait for your call.

Interesting.

Weren't you supposed to meet clients today?

I finished early and wanted to have lunch with you.

This is for you.

Why are you giving me a gift?

Isn't this too expensive?

I have good news.

Yuanhang and I have reached a cooperation.

So that means

the New District project can move forward.

Convincing them wasn't easy.

Luckily, I have a capable wife.

This deal couldn't have been done

without you.

Do you think I don't realize that?

It's not because I got along with Ms. Jiang

that she chose to work with you.

My role was just to create

a harmonious communication space.

The real motivator was mutual benefits.

So the one who made this happen

is you, not me.

Such an expensive gift

makes me feel unworthy.

As my wife, you should get used to gifts.

Get in the car. Let's go.

It suits you well.

(The more valuable Haoming's gifts are,)

(the deeper my guilt grows.)

(They keep reminding me)

(that can these lies)

(truly withstand sunlight?)

(Shanxi Jinxing Bank)

What's for dinner?

My mom went to Jingzhou for orthopedics.

Guess who we saw there?

- Who? - Mr. Lin's fiancée, Qiao Lin.

They just broke up,

and she's already upgraded.

The chief orthopedic doctor

is talented and handsome.

You're right.

Maybe she was already seeing him

- before breaking up with Mr. Lin. - Exactly!

What's wrong?

My heart hurts.

This is orthopedics.

If it's heart issues,

we can't help here.

Cancel your registration and visit cardiology instead.

Stop pretending.

You must tell me today

where you're hiding Qiao Lin.

Let me make this clear.

Hiding won't work.

I'm persistent.

I'm using my remaining sanity

to be civil with you.

Don't make me expose

all your dirty secrets.

First, I have no secrets.

Second, leave if you're not here for treatment.

Stop wasting medical resources.

I've noticed you're thick-skinned.

You seduce someone's fiancée.

When the groom came looking for you,

you still act innocent.

You've kept me awake at night.

Don't think you can brush this off

with a few words. No way!

Are you here for treatment or not? If not, just leave.

You're enabling evil, you know?

He's a homewrecker!

Liu, call security.

Go ahead.

Get your dean here.

Let your leaders and colleagues see

what a morally corrupt

- homewrecking man... - Lin Tao!

- What do you want? - What now?

I finally catch you red-handed.

What did I say?

Right after leaving me, you've found someone new.

Lin,

just be blunt to me today.

Were you together behind my back long ago?

Are you done yet?

This is a hospital.

Didn't you always claim

you're educated high-class person?

You're making a scene here, disturbing other patients.

Is this what you call high-class?

Since when did you learn to twist the truth?

You want to lecture me about manners?

Yu Yiming destroyed families.

That makes him classy?

A morally corrupt person like him can't possibly be a good doctor.

Now you're just spouting nonsense.

How did he destroy families?

Whose family did he destroy?

Did we ever make a family?

We broke up ages ago, okay?

We have zero connection now.

If you keep harassing me like this, it counts as harassment, you know?

Wait.

I'm begging you.

Just come back with me.

I came specifically to get you.

Hopeless.

I don't want to speak to you at all now.

Get out.

Then tell me where you live now. Is he treating you well?

No. I'm sorry.

(Advanced Mathematics)

You're attending adult college?

- What's it to you? - Just to be worthy of Yu Yiming?

Are you insane?

What twisted logic is this?

My studies have nothing to do with him.

Your mental gymnastics amaze me.

Still lying to me, huh?

Lin.

You used to complain that I shouldn't despise you.

But now?

Yu Yiming is the one who actually

despise you.

He knows you hate studying,

and you're not cut out for it.

Yet for his own pride, he forces you to study.

This is emotional manipulation.

I might have said things,

but in my heart,

I've always accepted your lack of education and common sense.

Well, thank you.

Thanks for accepting me

as some uneducated, brainless woman.

I'm so grateful.

- How can I ever thank you enough? - Qiao Lin! Qiao Lin!

No fighting in the hospital.

Talk it out properly.

Yu Yiming, this doesn't concern you.

Even if she kills me today,

you have no right to interfere.

Because you'll never measure up to me.

Let me be blunt.

Qiao Lin was my first love.

No one's relationship can compare

to what we had.

- He's crazy. - I'm not crazy.

These were all selected by Mr. Shen for you.

Happy birthday.

Thank you.

We'll leave now.

Thank you.

(To Yan: Happy Birthday, 6 PM, Haoming)

(Meet at Agave at 6 PM)

Okay.

(Fang Lei Calling)

Hello?

Time flies. He's grown so tall.

Who allowed you to meet him?

I miss him terribly.

Where are you now?

- You're here? - Who allowed you to meet him?

I couldn't help myself today.

So I went to see him.

He looks just like me.

This is your final warning. Don't cross the line again.

Just kidding.

It's Yan's birthday today, right?

Mr. Shen's not here. He asked you to wait in the backyard.

He'll be back soon.

Okay. Thank you.

I'll head off work.

Did I interrupt your little romantic time?

I'm sorry.

It seems

you still care about us deep down.

- If you leave, I'll really go meet him. - Don't you dare!

I don't need anyone's permission

before meeting him.

We're related by blood.

You and I are family bound by ties

that can never be severed.

But I don't understand why you had to marry someone

completely unrelated to us.

Why couldn't you wait for me?

Fang Lei.

For your sister's sake,

please let me go.

Then I'll go find my sister.

What's that?

Put it down!

(Acetagastrodin Tablets)

Yan.

Chen Lin,

do you know where Shen Haoming is?

Mr. Shen said he has an appointment with you.

He left work early for his studio.

Never mind. Thanks.

You're back.

You didn't answer the phone. I thought something happened to you.

I'm fine.

Shifeng and Jinda are signing a contract.

There was an urgent meeting, so I put my phone on silent.

Have you eaten? Are you hungry? I make you a midnight snack, okay?

I'm not hungry. I had a snack earlier.

You must've been waiting long.

It's okay. I know you had urgent matters.

- It's okay. - I'm sorry.

Happy birthday.

I'll take a shower first. Then we'll have cake together.

Okay.

What happened to her?

I don't know, either.

She had an accident while diving.

Does Mr. Fang know yet?
