So, I'm about to walk on stage

and sing for four icons
in this industry.

Oh, my God. It's insane.

Luckily, I've been around
talented people before,

Sang background

But this is the first time
that I get to show up as me,

as Revel Day.

Here we go.

Introducing myself to people

that can really change
everything for me.

I'm ready to go
make the most of it,

because the top of this year...

...we almost lost everything.

[ Police radio chatter ]

The fires are now the second
and fourth most destructive

in California's history.

In January,
the city of Los Angeles

was hit with devastating fires.

With me being an Altadena local,
the Eaton fires were very close.

They ravaged the area.

14,000 acres of damage was done,

and that was just one fire
in a sea of flames

that engulfed
the California coast.

When the fires started,
we were at home.

We could see the fires
from our bedroom.

And so something was like,
alright, let's just go

stay with a friend tonight.

I'm sure we'll be able
to come back tomorrow.

It was jarring to drive in
through the neighborhoods

and see so many houses
burned down to rubble.

Mostly everything in Altadena
was -- was gone.

It destroyed the town.
It was absolutely devastating.

[ Siren wails ]

* Man, what a hell
of a year it's been *

* Keep on bluffing,
but I just can't win *

Revel:
The fire came down our street.

Two or three houses
burned to the ground.

Our house is still standing,

but unfortunately,
there's severe damage.

There is asbestos
and lead and smoke damage.

We can't go back. It's not safe.

And I don't know
what's gonna happen next,

and I don't know
where we're gonna go next.

So being in this process,
I'm pinching myself a lot.

I'm feeling really grateful
right now, for sure.

I'm Kayleigh Clark,
I'm 20 years old,

and I'm from
Sumrall, Mississippi.

My dad owns a chicken farm.

We've got four chicken houses.

They're a little more
than a football field long.

There's about
100,000 chickens total.

Ramsey: Every morning,
we start around 5:00 a.m.

There's a lot of feed, a lot
of water, a lot of shelter,

a lot of making sure
that air flow,

and they have
what they need.

Kayleigh: You gotta go in there
and clean everything up.

It's not a glamorous job,
but the farm life is all I know.

I've never done anything else,
other than music.

My uncle has a band.

He has played all around,
you know, Mississippi,

and I would
get up on stage with him,

and that's
how I kind of got my start.

My dad plays the guitar,

and he bought me my first guitar
when I was 10,

and I started playing
and started writing,

and then the older I got,
I kind of used it as an escape

to get away from everything
that was going on at home.

From the minute I was born,
I've been a daddy's girl.

We've always been very close,

but we would know
that he'd be drinking

'cause he would try to hide it,

because he would be
in my brother and I's playroom,

and for the longest time,
I wouldn't go...

It dominated
my life, um,

times that...

I wanted to show up
for my children or my family,

um, alcohol won.

Kayleigh: Growing up,
when I would listen to music,

that's really helped me,

For the last ten years,

I was in a band with my friends

called the Moon Jays.

I am the lead singer
and songwriter.

We've released probably

Pretty much played
at every venue

in Southern California.

Being in the band
really allowed me to find

that confidence in myself
as a performer and vocalist.

Me and my wife met at church
in 2018.

We had some mutual friends

I graduated high school
about a year ago,

and since then I manage
a sensory deprivation spa.

and coming up with melodies

as I'm cleaning
or folding laundry.

The end goal is
to be singing as much as I can.

Grandma Linda, she's 71,
she's still working as a nurse,

two-time cancer survivor.

Through all of that, she's
still coming to any gigs I have.

That teaches me a lot about how
I should be pursuing my music

and to keep at it.

The advice I give is
for her to sing from her heart,

because the coaches turn
when they feel emotion.
