So, I'm about to walk on stage

and sing for four icons in this industry.

[ Laughing ] Oh, my God. It's insane.

Luckily, I've been around talented people before,

Sang background for Stevie Wonder, Andy Grammer,

Childish Gambino, Kirk Franklin.

But this is the first time that I get to show up as me,

as Revel Day.

Here we go.

Revel: Introducing myself to people

that can really change everything for me.

I'm ready to go make the most of it,

because the top of this year...

...we almost lost everything.

[ Police radio chatter ]

The fires are now the second and fourth most destructive

in California's history.

In January, the city of Los Angeles

was hit with devastating fires.

With me being an Altadena local, the Eaton fires were very close.

They ravaged the area.

14,000 acres of damage was done,

and that was just one fire in a sea of flames

that engulfed the California coast.

When the fires started, we were at home.

We could see the fires from our bedroom.

And so something was like, alright, let's just go

stay with a friend tonight.

I'm sure we'll be able to come back tomorrow.

It was jarring to drive in through the neighborhoods

and see so many houses burned down to rubble.

Mostly everything in Altadena was -- was gone.

It destroyed the town. It was absolutely devastating.

[ Siren wails ]

* Man, what a hell of a year it's been *

* Keep on bluffing, but I just can't win *

Revel: The fire came down our street.

Two or three houses burned to the ground.

Our house is still standing,

but unfortunately, there's severe damage.

There is asbestos and lead and smoke damage.

We can't go back. It's not safe.

And I don't know what's gonna happen next,

and I don't know where we're gonna go next.

So being in this process, I'm pinching myself a lot.

I'm feeling really grateful right now, for sure.

You know what you came here to do. You're gonna kill it.

For the blind audition,

It talks about that place that's just for us.

Being displaced from the Altadena fires was so hard.

Our house is a family home.

It's the house that I was born in.

It's the city that raised me.

And so I'm carrying Altadena with me in this moment.

So many people there lost so much.

To represent what our story is on this stage,

it's an opportunity of a lifetime.

That's right. Altadena specifically.

Niall: What stood out to me was the fact that it was

a big, round voice singing quite an indie song.

I think you did it so much justice.

I did feel like it kind of got a tiny little bit loose.

I think excitement with the crowd building up

and the chairs spinning obviously can do that.

Sure, sure. I don't think anyone really understands

how hard it is to audition on a show like this.

I've done it. I've been there.

Wow, I was terrible.

It made me really think about

what we could do with you down the line.

It's gonna be good to have you on the show.

Yeah, so, my wife and I have been displaced

for the best part of this year.

It's just been a tragedy for our whole state.

I knew you had it in you, you know?

Hi, everybody. My name is Natalia Albertini,

I'm 24 years old, I'm from Cherry Hill, New Jersey,

and this is my family's party balloon business.

My grandparents founded a party business,

going on for 40 years plus now.

I love working with my family

because they always seem to pop up out of nowhere.

I was behind that counter... probably 3 years old.

My parents worked full-time jobs.

That was daycare. We grew up in that store.

That store is everything to us.

Having a party business

is the reason why we bring the party.

I am Italian and I am Puerto Rican.

Partying is who we are.

Good food, good mood, good vibes, good dancing.

You're not gonna come to a party and not dance.

All my titis, all my aunts, are like, "Get up!

Come on, we ate, so now we're gonna work the food off."

My family has come

to every single performance that I've ever had.

My name is Marty O'Reilly,

I'm 36 years old, and I'm from Sonoma, California.

Life at home is really great.

It's not easy, parenting is hard,

in case nobody told you,

but it's like hard work that you love.

I think the younger version of myself

When I was a teenager, things at home were tumultuous.

My parents' marriage started falling apart.

As a kid, in that kind of situation...

you feel powerless.

I needed a way to escape,

and music was the way that I did that.

I think if you have a hard time when you're a young person,

it can start to feel like the world is just

always going to be that way.

we have to keep it kinda cool in the chicken houses,

so I can't open the door for too long,

but I can give you a little sneak peek.

I'm Kayleigh Clark, I'm 20 years old,

and I'm from Sumrall, Mississippi.

My dad owns a chicken farm.

We've got four chicken houses.

They're a little more than a football field long.

There's about 100,000 chickens total.

Ramsey: Every morning, we start around 5:00 a.m.

There's a lot of feed, a lot of water, a lot of shelter,

a lot of making sure that air flow,

and they have what they need.

Kayleigh: You gotta go in there and clean everything up.

It's not a glamorous job, but the farm life is all I know.

I've never done anything else, other than music.

My uncle has a band.

He has played all around, you know, Mississippi,

and I would get up on stage with him,

and that's how I kind of got my start.

My dad plays the guitar,

and he bought me my first guitar when I was 10,

and I started playing and started writing,

and then the older I got, I kind of used it as an escape

to get away from everything that was going on at home.

From the minute I was born, I've been a daddy's girl.

We've always been very close,

but we would know that he'd be drinking

'cause he would try to hide it,

because he would be in my brother and I's playroom,

and for the longest time, I wouldn't go...

[ Chuckles nervously ]

[ Voice breaking ] I wouldn't go in that room.

It dominated my life, um,

times that...

I wanted to show up for my children or my family,

um, alcohol won.

Kayleigh: Growing up, when I would listen to music,

that's really helped me,

I wrote a song about my dad

because I wanted kids with alcoholic family members

to see that, "Oh, I'm not alone in this."

It's very hard, seeing somebody that you love

struggle with addiction, but...

I would go through all that again

to get the man that he is now.

I've been sober a little over three years now,

to be able to show up for your family.

My name is Justin Jenks.

I'm 32 years old,

and I'm from Buena Park, California.

For the last ten years,

I was in a band with my friends

called the Moon Jays.

I am the lead singer and songwriter.

We've released probably close to like 30 songs.

Pretty much played at every venue

in Southern California.

Being in the band really allowed me to find

that confidence in myself as a performer and vocalist.

Me and my wife met at church in 2018.

We had some mutual friends ask me,

"Would you ever go on a date with Justin Jenks?"

And I said, "The poser in the band?

And then I heard him sing for the first time,

and it was love at first sound.

My name is Sadie Dahl.

I graduated high school about a year ago,

and since then I manage a sensory deprivation spa.

This is what a pod looks like. Kind of cool.

The second you get in there, you immediately --

you float to the surface,

and your mind and your body is able to relax.

Sometimes I'm humming and coming up with melodies

as I'm cleaning or folding laundry.

The end goal is to be singing as much as I can.

So, today I was asked to sing at a local baseball game.

I'm in beautiful Utah.

Oh, my gosh, I've seen every one of these.

She knows her stuff. She knows the show.

I watch the show in every country.

My grandma Linda is the biggest fan of "The Voice."

I watch "The Voice Australia," "The Voice UK."

The other "Voices" are fine, but they don't speak English.

She'll be showing me new music and artists

that she's found.

I saw a documentary on Snoop Dogg,

I went, "Look, he's amazing. You need to see this."

Grandma Linda, she's 71, she's still working as a nurse,

and she's also a two-time cancer survivor.

Through all of that, she's still coming to any gigs I have.

That teaches me a lot about how I should be pursuing my music

and to keep at it.

The advice I give is for her to sing from her heart,

because the coaches turn when they feel emotion.
