Well, I was just about
out of my mind

and then I heard all these men
running, this pack of men running

and I got panicky.

So I just jumped on a horse
and I rode out of there.

Out of that town, this way.

These are my husband's friends,
and they're not after justice, Mr. Favor,

they're after blood.

after another, all like Gold Ridge.

And nobody, nobody, nobody!
Except maybe Monte,

ever thought
that little sweet Lottie Denton

was anything in the world

And I killed Hale, and I killed Brown.

And I'm just sorry, Mr. Favor,
