=Episode 11=

Mr. Zhou,

my mother mentioned that you're

in new medical tech.

Ms. Ma invested in you.

You're so busy every day.

I'm so grateful that you still remember

who I am.

Thanks to Xu Yan for the introduction.

Xu Yan.

Toast you.

I have to drive.

Alright.

Let's eat.

How long have you met?

We...

Xu Yan and I

have quite some history.

We met when we first came to Jingzhou to start our business.

So it's been long.

Right.

But over these years,

we've all been busy

in our own fields.

So

we hardly met.

True, we hardly met,

but we've stayed in contact.

Moreover, I'm very close to her family.

I often chat with her parents

by overseas calls.

That close?

You should meet more often.

It's my fault.

Over these years,

I've thrown myself into work

and drifted apart

from my friends.

Asking Xu Yan for help

this time we met.

Sorry about that.

Mr. Shen.

She knows me well.

I'm direct.

I asked her to contact you

for your help with my company.

Haoming.

There's something

I haven't told you.

Zeyuan's company

is in medical tech.

I think Jinda Group

lacks sufficient expertise in medical fields.

This time...

I get it.

I had similar concerns before.

A few days ago,

I had a chat with Mr. Xu on the phone.

He said

that every industry is embracing

new technologies now.

He strongly advised me to meet Mr. Shen

and have a talk.

Our group invests widely.

If it's a good project,

we're open.

Great.

Well,

Mr. Xu has become an authority

in construction

after years of dedication.

But he remains

attentive to sectors

like high-tech.

That open mind

is truly admirable.

It's my fault.

I don't communicate enough

with my in-laws.

I'll work on it.

Strive to do better.

Cheers.

Don't just talk.

Let's eat.

Enjoy your meal.

I'll step out.

Take care.

Enjoy.

Mr. Shen.

I'll briefly introduce

my projects.

Eat first.

Okay.

Your behavior surprised me.

I thought we've reached a consensus.

We were on the same side.

We never were.

That's harsh.

I've been covering for you.

And you repay me

by blocking me?

Did I speak too much just now?

Did I cause you any trouble?

Would your husband

suddenly get the urge

to call his father-in-law overseas

on a whim?

If you keep resisting me,

I really can't guarantee

what I'll say next.

No matter what you'll say,

I won't let Shen Haoming

get dragged into your scam.

Worst case, we both go down.

I'll face the consequences,

you too.

You've got everything you want.

Can you discard them?

You're bluffing.

You're scared, actually.

You know very well

you'll lose the most in the end.

What do I have to fear?

I have nothing to lose.

I have no fear!

Good.

Then go tell Shen Haoming

the whole truth right now.

Seems you're really

trying to be his perfect wife.

Fine.

Don't want to use his money?

Give yours

to me.

You have one night to think.

Or I'll expose you online.

A friendly reminder to you.

A man drowning in debt

is a devil.

Remember to pay up.

Otherwise,

I'll haunt you like one.

What are you doing?

(Zhou Zeyuan) Look into this guy for me.

Okay.

I've told you.

I won't help you.

Solve your own mess.

And

don't

call me again.

Yan.

Who's that?

Work call.

What's wrong?

Did I awake you?

It's nothing.

(New message received)

If it's work-related,

is there anything I can help with?

No.

They just informed me

tomorrow's guests

may cancel

due to weather.

I told them

to handle it on their own.

You seem tired lately.

Don't push yourself too hard.

A little, indeed.

I have

two shows at once.

And I just started anchoring.

It's exhausting.

If it's too much,

just

drop one.

But you know

being a news anchor is my dream.

And I built Family Feast from scratch.

I can't give up either.

Then I support you.

Keep both.

You changed so fast.

(Zhou Zeyuan) I'll always choose your choice.

(Xu Yan, think about the consequences of refusing me.)

(Phone off)

Having someone supporting me

feels good.

I stand by what I said.

Do whatever you want.

Mistakes don't matter.

Even if you fail,

we can start over.

Sorry.

The number you dialed is powered off.

(Xu Yan)

No answer.

No reply.

Xu Yan.

What are you thinking?

I've got nothing to say.

My cash flow's gone,

salaries unpaid,

investors digging into my books.

My company's about to collapse.

I'm cornered.

I'm telling you.

If I go down,

I'm dragging you.

Understood?

Let go of me!

- Let go! - What are you doing?

What are you doing?

Who are you?

Who are you?

None of your business.

Don't step in.

Go away!

Listen up.

There are many

cameras here.

All recording.

I'll call the police!

Right now.

Hello?

Police?

Someone's harassing me!

Guards!

Help!

Drink something warm.

Thanks.

Yan.

Who was that guy?

What's going on?

Just someone I knew.

We had a small dispute.

But it's all settled now.

Don't worry.

He looked menacing.

Didn't seem a small matter.

You are still the same.

Keeping everything bottled up.

Truly, I may not

be much help

if you tell me.

You're still the same too,

hot-tempered.

Thank you.

I should be thanking you.

Yu Yiming told me everything.

You paid my adult education tuition

for next semester.

Why?

Why hide it?

Trying to be a saint?

Do good deeds anonymously?

It's nothing.

So today you came to see me?

To give you this.

Some makeup,

just to thank you.

I was waiting

at the main entrance.

But you drove straight to the basement,

didn't notice me.

So I went

down to find you.

And...

About

Lin Tao's matter,

I was too harsh.

I wanted to apologize.

I'm sorry, Yan.

I was impulsive too.

I'm sorry.

I like the gift. Thanks.

I'll keep it.

Has his bothered you again?

No.

Good.

I can't help you much.

But Yan,

as long as I'm here,

nobody's bullying you.

I'll protect you.

So today,

your treat.

I already paid.

That's not your style.

Hello.

Your most expensive cake,

please.

Thanks.

- One moment. - Thank you.

Thank you.

Your treat.

Yan.

Here's the news file.

Thanks.

Dong Chao.

Close the door.

(Incoming call from Qiao Jianbin)

What's wrong?

Qiao Yan.

Your mom and I are in Jingzhou.

Sending you the hotel address.

Come right now.

Don't ask. We'll talk in person.

(From Qiao Jianbin Wuseshi Hotel)

Why are you here?

Come in.

You've arrived.

I invited your parents here.

Qiao Yan.

No one loves us more

than our parents.

As children,

we shouldn't hide anything

from them.

Maybe you've had

some conflicts.

But I believe

if you sit down

and talk openly

with each other,

everything

will be resolved.

Right, Mr. Qiao?

Qiao Yan is a good girl.

Don't be too angry.

Take care.

I've arranged the rooms.

Stay as long as you want.

Then I'll head back.

Okay.

I'm leaving.

Where did you get the nerve

to fake your parents' jobs

and hire actors at your wedding?

Who gave you the courage

to tell such a lie?

I, Qiao Jianbin,

have never done

a shameful thing in my life.

How did I raise a daughter like you?

Calm down.

Yan.

Just tell your father the truth.

Why did you do this?

Why?

Greedy for wealth and blinded by ambition.

To marry into riches,

you've abandoned all moral principles!

I didn't take a single penny from the Shens.

My feelings for Shen Haoming are real.

I love him,

so I want to marry him

and become his wife.

I did nothing wrong

with that.

Ridiculous!

You fooled everyone.

You played us all!

You think that

will erase everything?

Who would believe that?

I don't need you to.

I never

expected

you to understand me.

I just want to say.

No matter when

I met someone like Shen Haoming,

I would use

any means

necessary

to be with him.

But you shouldn't have deceived him!

I didn't want to.

It's just that since I was little,

I knew I could only rely on myself.

Yan.

When you were a kid,

we didn't raise you.

But we took you back later.

We've raised you all these years.

You can't blame your mistakes

all on us!

No.

You'll not understand what you did wrong.

My only mistake

was not exposing you earlier!

I'll go confront the Shen family now

and expose everything!

Qiao! Qiao!

Don't go! Don't!

Calm down!

Let go!

Think about Yan!

If you do this, her career is ruined!

If I didn't know, fine.

But now, if I cover for her,

I'd be failing as a father!

She's already married.

You can't do this.

What's this act about?

Well.

What are you

acting out here?

Parents

brokenhearted

over their daughter's mistakes?

Do you really care?

This is how I grew up.

You never cared about me!

I fought so hard

to get where I am today,

to get a loving husband.

Are you unhappy?

I got it.

You think

this life

should've belonged to Qiao Lin,

not me, right?

Or you want

to expose me to the Shen family

so you can

extort money from me?

Fine. No problem.

I'll pay.

What did you say?

How could you think that?

You...

Are you still

a Qiao family's girl?

Do you still bear our surname?

I don't bear Qiao.

My name is Xu Yan.

Good.

From now on, we're no longer father and daughter.

You are not part of this family anymore!

No!

Qiao!

(Secretary Chen)

- Go ahead. - Mr. Shen.

Your wife

sold the car

you gifted her.

Got it.

I've given you the money.

What do you want?

Are you throwing scraps on me?

Do you know how much

my company spends every day?

Zhou Zeyuan, I'm warning you.

This is the first

and the last time.

Take this money

as your hush fee,

for your last life.

I won't tolerate

endless extortion.

Try this again,

and I'll call the police.

But the deficit's too large.

This is far from enough.

If my company crashes,

everyone will come

demanding repayment.

Then it'll be do-or-die.

But the one who should be afraid

isn't me.

It's you.

Everything you schemed so hard to get

will turn to ashes.

Xu Yan.

Do you dare gamble everything?

Can't you see

I've been

giving you chances?

Fine.

Give it a try then.

See who can go further.

If I end up in jail,

- at least I'll have you with me. - Let go!

Ten million per blow.

Another strike?

(Mr. Shen)

Your husband's calling.

(Mr. Shen)

(Mr. Shen)

Hello, Mr. Shen.

What's up?

2 PM.

Golf game.

Available?

Of course.

He walked into this himself.

Not my fault.

Listen well.

If you hurt him,

I won't let you go.

You want to expose me?

Go ahead!

Mr. Shen.

Sorry, I forgot to tell you.

Xu Yan is with me now.

She says she's coming too.

Got it.

Goodbye.

To put it simply,

the idea is to combine

the thinking and experience

of top medical experts

with new technologies

in each case.

Then we can replicate

countless top doctors

to serve patients.

Jinda Group hasn't touched

the medical field yet.

But I'm interested.

What's the return rate?

This round, we're raising

100 million.

I saved

50 million for you.

Based on current

figures,

the annualized return

is around 20%.

10 million a year.

Of course,

the more you put in, the higher the returns.

Nice shot.

Your turn.

Okay.

Looks like

you haven't been practicing.

Can't compare with you.

Mr. Shen.

The project we discussed,

I've been developing it for years.

From medical R&D

to data collection,

our company leads

in the industry.

I believe,

with your financial support,

it'll take off.

Not just substantial returns,

but also solving

real problems for patients.

Good for the people.

Okay.

I've got the picture.

I'll discuss it internally.

Should be feasible.

My secretary will update you.

Okay.

Thank you so much

for this opportunity.

No problem.

I'll take my leave.

Xu Yan.

I'm heading out.

Goodbye.

Goodbye.

What's up?

Haoming.

I don't think

you should invest.

First,

we don't know much

about medicine.

Second,

we don't know his company's

operations either.

It's too risky.

Don't do it for my sake.

I'm not

that close to him.

So,

the investment...

Actually,

the funds he wants aren't huge.

The medical field

isn't our business,

so I won't use

Jinda's funds.

I'll find other investors.

It'll work out.

With you handling it, of course.

But 50 million

isn't small.

The risks and potential losses

are

within acceptable limits.

I can handle it.

Trust me.

Let's go.

Haoming.

There's something I want to tell you.

I want to tell you,

I just want you by my side,

happy

and carefree.

Not frowning.

Smile.

Let's go.

Mr. Shen.

Mr. Huang's secretary called,

asking if you're available the day after tomorrow.

He will bring

some important guests

to play golf.

No problem.

And,

Zhou Zeyuan's called multiple times.

Looks like

he's about to crack.

No rush.

Let him wait.

Schedule a meeting with the investment department in 15 minutes.

Understood.

Mr. Zhou.

Our account funds

can only sustain us

for two days.

Keep calling Shen Haoming.

I've called numerous times.

His secretary always makes excuses.

Enough!

Just call!

Or tell me

where else

we can get money!

Make the call!

Secretary Chen.

Congras, Mr. Zhou.

Mr. Shen

has agreed to invest.

Moreover,

he's willing to add more.

However,

he wants

a 6% higher return.

Is that okay?

Sure.

No problem at all.

Secretary Chen,

please inform Mr. Shen

I'll make arrangements now.

When he's not busy,

I'll visit with the contract.

There's no hurry.

Mr. Shen

thinks your sector

is potential.

However,

it's his personal interest.

The money

won't be from

Jinda Group.

A professional agent will

handle the contract.

He'll contact you

later.

The funds will

be transferred

in batches

within three months.

Understood.

Don't worry.

I won't tell

anyone about this.

I'm grateful to him

for recognizing my project

and me.

Okay.

I'll convey

your gratitude to him.

Goodbye.

Okay. Goodbye.

(Four months later)

Miss Xu.

Nice job hosting the finance news.

Since you've joined Family Feast,

from today,

take charge of that show too.

(Zhou Zeyuan)

(It suddenly dawned on me)

(that it's been four months)

(since Zhou Zeyuan last contacted me.)

(He disappeared)

(without a trace.)

Is dinner ready?

Yes. Go wash your hands.

Smells great.

Zhou Zeyuan's

arrested.

When?

I just heard about it.

(Recently,)

(head of a well-known medical company,)

(Zhou Zeyuan,)

(has been arrested for financial fraud,)

(collusion with foreign charities, and illegally transferring)

(investors' funds.)

That's too much.

(He was apprehended at a Macau casino,)

(for investigation.)

Honey.

You've promised

to invest in him.

Will this affect you?

No.

I heard he was a gambling addict,

so I ended the cooperation long ago.

Moreover, my funds

are managed by professional brokers.

There shouldn't be any issues.

That's great.

But you...

You sold your car, didn't you?

Because I heard Ms. Ma

also invested heavily in him.

She doesn't care about returns.

Why?

As everyone knows,

Ms. Ma's patronized

many upstarts

as Zhou Zeyuan.

She enjoys being surrounded

by those

promising youths.

You fell for her act.

Actually, she knew all along

what Zhou was really like.

Try the shrimp.

Last time you said it's salty.

How's it?

Better?

Not salty at all.

Yan.

If you want to invest

in the future,

just ask me for money.

No need to sell your car.

Tastes great.

Eat more vegetables.

What soup is this?

Chicken soup.

So nourishing?

Right.

Since he found out

you sold your car,

could he's discovered

you lied to him?

Probably not.

Zhou Zeyuan is terrifying.

But why did he

suddenly get caught?

That's what puzzles me too.

I feel like

someone's helping me,

but I don't know who.

Never mind.

Forget it.

Anyway,

it's resolved now.

You should stop overthinking.

Maybe you're just lucky,

avoiding the dangers, right?

But

I still want to advise you.

You can't keep hiding forever.

Find a proper chance

to explain to the Shen family.

Your husband really loves you.

Talk it through with him,

and he'll forgive you.

I do want to tell him.

Just haven't found the right moment.

Alright.

That's good.

I've been worried sick

about this thing.

It's ready.

Eat up.

Yu Yiming!

Just off work?

Had eaten?

Yes, at the canteen.

Xu Yan and I are here.

Join us for more?

The food here's good.

- Come on. - Okay.

Just sit for a while.

Come.

Come.

Try the lamb.

Thanks.

Off work?

Here.

Alright.

Enough.

Xu Yan.

Yesterday, I saw

the financial news.

Honestly,

you look great on camera.

Stop teasing me.

Just eat.

I'm serious.

Here.

Try it.

It's enough.

Congratulations.

You finally achieved your dream.

Thank you.

Sign an autograph for me later.

When you're famous,

I can show off

to my coworkers.

Don't overdo it, Yu Yiming.

Not overdoing.

Well,

my coworkers

all love watching that news

and Family Feast.

Since they learned

we were high-school classmates,

they talk about you all the time.

Well,

give me

your autograph,

okay?

Qiao Lin.

Isn't he tutoring you?

How's it going?

Excellent, of course.

Just of average.

Forget it.

We finally

reunite today.

This meal's on me.

My treat.

Your treat?

Waiter!

30 more plates of lamb!

You...

Haven't seen Wolverine?

The food was good today.

Qiao Lin.

What?

What time to start?

Starting what?

The tutoring.

After all that lamb?

What's wrong with you?

Overheated. Eaten too much lambs.

Overheated?

30 plates will do that.

Are you busy?

What's up?

A friend

just called me.

She said before marriage,

she hid something from her husband.

Now she wants to confess.

Why did she hide it?

Afraid to ruin their relationship.

And afraid

he wouldn't have married her.

How's their relationship now?

Great.

That's easy then.

Then keep it hidden.

Keep it hidden?

- But I think... - No buts.

Listen.

Tell your friend.

Confession

is like a thorn

in marriage.

Principles

are not needed in marriage,

right?

Principles are just packaging.

Empty words.

In the end,

a happy ending

is what truly matters.

Right?

Stop worrying about others' problems.

Okay?

Think about me.

Look.

Yuanhang Fund.

Jiang Liang and Jiang Yun

(Yuanhang Fund) will return to China next week.

I've invited them

to Jinda Group's reception.

You need to help me prepare in advance

to impress

(Jiang Yun, Chairwoman)

Jiang Yun.

Look at her profile.

Thirty-five years old.

Calm,

decisive.

(Mr. Huang's calling)

Hello?

The New District project isn't getting

your father's support now.

We must find

a fund company as backup.

Jiang Liang and Jiang Yun

are both back.

Perfect chance

to meet them.

However,

they're famously tough.

Jiang Yun

is calm,

decisive in actions,

and has a bad temper.

(Jiang Yun, Chairwoman) Known as

the "Black Rose" of investing.

Jiang Liang.

Don't be fooled by the playboy look.

He's meticulous-minded,

(Jiang Liang, Deputy Manager) a numbers genius.

Key to Yuanhang Fund's finance.

Rumor says he has a photographic memory.

This is all I can help you.

The rest is up to you.

Thank you, Mr. Huang.
