The first thing we need to know\h
is what is end-to-end encryption.\h\h

It’s a type of security that Messenger\h
provides during a secret conversation.

At present, the following products\h
do not support this feature.

Chats with Facebook groups,
Community Chats,\h

Marketplace Chats,
& Business/Professional Accounts.

How does it work?

End-to-end encryption creates a special key to\h
protect your message conversation. It is extra\h\h

security that protects your calls and messages\h
from another person. Nobody else can see, hear,\h\h

or read what’s sent or received—not even meta.\h
Also, you can verify your keys on Messenger.

Let’s see the example,

First, Launch the Safari or Chrome\h
browser on your personal computer. Then,\h\h

go to the official messenger website.

After that, Enter your login details and hit the\h\h

login button. Make sure you\h
remember your login details.

Now, follow the on-screen instructions.

If you have enabled end-to-end\h
encryption in any conversation,\h\h

your device may require a six-digit\h
PIN to sync the chat history.

Let’s look at two methods to turn off\h
end-to-end encryption: remove or unlock it.

The first simple step is to Delete the\h
Secret Conversation from Your Messenger.\h\h

Go to the chats section and move the\h
cursor over your friend's name. Then,\h\h

tap on three horizontal dots. Find\h
and click the Delete chat option.

This action is irreversible; once\h
you delete your conversation,\h\h

it cannot be undone. So,\h
select Delete chat to confirm.

Now, go to the search bar and type your friend’s\h
name. Click to open the message conversation.\h\h

End-to-end encryption is not available here.\h
That’s it. This solution fixed my problem.

The second method is to Turn off and delete\h
secure storage. Doing this will permanently\h\h

remove any message saved in secure storage. Also,\h
the messages stored on the device will remain the\h\h

same, but you will not back them up. Also, if\h
your device is running in low storage mode,\h\h

any encrypted messages older than ninety\h
days will be removed automatically.

If you turn off Messenger's secure storage,\h\h

you can’t get a remote backup of\h
encrypted messages on your device.

You won’t be able to restore your\h
end-to-end chat history if you replace it,\h\h

and you can’t restore your end-to-end\h
encrypted messages on your new device.

Click on the profile icon at\h
the bottom left panel. Go to\h\h

the Privacy and Safety section. Here,\h
click on end-to-end encrypted chats.

Here, click on secure storage.

Here, you can get the information about when you\h
got the last backup and the date created. Also,\h\h

you can easily reset your PIN, manage\h
security methods, remember your browser,\h\h

Download secure storage data, Turn off secure\h
Storage, and Delete and turn off secure storage.

Now, click on Turn off the secure\h
storage section, hit the continue button,

Repeat the same steps to open\h
the end-to-end encrypted chats,\h\h

tap on the secure storage section, and\h
finally click on delete secure storage.

If you clear your cache or log in\h
to Messenger on another device,\h\h

you may see a message on your PC screen\h
saying you can't restore these messages.

If you are sure, then click the continue button.

Now, wait for a moment until\h
the process is complete. Then,\h\h

delete the previous chat and\h
start a new message conversation.

As you can see, end-to-end encryption\h
is not available here. That’s it.

How to Enable End-to-End Encryption?

Open the message or search for your friend’s name\h
in the chat section. Tap to open the message box.\h\h

Then, move your cursor beside your friend's name\h
to see the three-dot option. Click on it to view\h\h

options. As you can see, the option “Start\h
end-to-end encrypted chat” is available here.

You may see the “Go to secret conversation”\h
option on iPhone or Android. Both are the same.\h

If you’re sure, then click on\h
Start end-to-end encrypted chat.

As you can see, a new chat is open, and end-to-end\h
encryption is at the top of your message box.

If you want data backup of your\h
end-to-end encrypted message,\h\h

follow the steps on a video screen.

Click on the profile icon at\h
the bottom left panel. Go to\h\h

the Privacy and Safety section. Here,\h
click on end-to-end encrypted chats.

Here, click on secure storage.

Swipe to the Manage Secure Storage section and\h
Click Download secure storage data. After that,\h\h

read the instructions. If you want to download\h
your data to secure storage, click Download file.

Your PC may prompt you to\h
ensure the safety of your\h\h

data. Enter your password and click 'confirm.'

Again, click on the download button to confirm.\h
Your end-to-end messages and data will be saved\h\h

in JSON file format on your PC. It may\h
take some time, so wait for a moment.

The message conversations are secret\h
between you and your message receiver.
