Escapanos antes de la ofrenda, eso queríais.
Queremos estar juntas. ¿Qué tiene de malo? The town offers up one of your
daughters, and in return you get a truck full of guns.
They call it security.
I call it extortion.
Alba.
Surviving six ofrendas.
Such luck.
I have to do something.
¡Ya mis objeciones, mi sobrina!
Justina.
Don't make me say it.
He'll make things worse.
It's not our fight.
She loves me. She would never leave.
You are why we came back.
And now she's gone.
You promised to take care of her.
And you did.
We both did.
The solar panel is outside.
Take anything useful.
Yeah, actually, I think we're pretty well stocked.
Sticky finger sticks in there.
I'll return these when we leave.
And when do you think that will be?
Once we fix the boat. If the weather holds up, maybe a week.
Oh.
I didn't know... I just wanted to say... Please.
I just wanted to say I'm sorry.
I feel like us being here has, well, caused a lot of trouble.
No.
Justina and Roberto, that was a problem before you came.
Why don't you want them to be together?
She's a sweet girl. She is.
But it's no good, the two of them together.
I don't even know how to explain.
Where I come from, you can just say it's complicated.
Come on, we're going to put on that rudder today.
You don't need my help.
We wouldn't even have that thing if it wasn't for you.
It doesn't matter now.
What, you don't want to come with us anymore?
I can't live without her.
You ready? Yeah, let's go.
You need to reinforce it.
Okay.
Cross it over itself, right? Like this?
Yep. Bring that first end back around.
Yep. And then pop it through the hole.
Okay. So once the two ends are just right on top of each other.
Boom.
Oh, here it comes, here it comes, here it comes.
It did.
What?
¿Cuántas veces has arreglado la verja ya?
¿Tres, cuatro veces?
Because of something that happened thousands of years ago.
That doesn't matter to anyone but you.
Thank you, Maduro.
What is all that you're going to do to the United States with Justina?
Do you know how dangerous it is to go out there?
Then it's better that I stay here, locked up.
Not that I renounce everything to be happy.
This is our home.
Until all this is over.
Pass me that hammer.
Yo.
Can you pass me that hammer?
Sorry.
You okay?
It's my fault.
My fault, Justine. It's gone.
I was trying to reassure her last night. I think I put the ID in her head.
Stop it.
Don't say hot dogs.
We're finally going home.
You got to let that shit go.
When I first saw them in the creek, they looked so innocent, so in love.
It was like a mirage.
It's an endangered thing in this fucked up world.
It made me kind of want to root for them.
Yeah, well.
That was your first mistake.
I don't think you believe that.
Look at that shit that you're thinking.
It's a mistake.
The same mistake I made back in France.
The same mistake we're always making.
It's not a mistake.
We're always fighting everyone's fights.
Sometimes we have to fight for ourselves.
If anything's worth fighting for, isn't it two young people that just want to be
together?
How can you not even care? What do you think I don't care?
Well, stop acting like there's nothing we can do.
Dean is gone.
There's nothing we can do about it.
He ain't coming back.
There's nothing coming back.
Fuck!
5 degrees and 12 .3 minutes.
I think I'm getting the hang of this, Daryl.
I think people have space when they need it as a skill.
One I never mastered.
Me neither.
So I live alone.
I tried being on my own a few times. Thought it was the answer. It wasn't.
I'm coming off on ten years now.
In El Faro.
The lighthouse is the longest I've ever lived anywhere.
Really? On land.
Most of my adult life I spent at sea.
Sounds nauseating.
The ocean is home to some of my greatest memories.
Not me.
Although I do love a blanket of stars.
I feel the world is hard.
No reason not to have companionship.
Of course you understand that.
Comes out the hole, runs around the tree, and then hops right back into
its hole, like so.
Great work, bro.
What do you got to do with your eyes closed?
Yeah. Yeah, yeah. I'll just finish this up later. I got it.
How is it going with Cooper?
He's got a lot to say.
He's charming, isn't he?
Yeah.
But he knows a lot about sailing.
And you could use an experienced hand.
I told her Roberta was not coming.
Cooper grew up on the California coast.
He's been wanting to get back for a while, see who he can find.
No, we'll be fine.
Will you?
We'll fix the rudder, didn't I?
Even if you were a proficient sailor's wish.
No offense.
You are not.
Crossing the Atlantic is a totally different story.
No, we'll be all right.
We didn't do so great last time.
You think Cooper would have gotten us through that storm?
He might have.
Why don't you come?
You know everything there is to know.
I know you really miss being on the ocean.
That's a really nice invitation.
You and Cooper both.
We're the full crew.
There's a lot I miss about my old life, but things have changed.
I've changed.
I'm content here.
But my point's done. Take Cooper.
No, we'll be fine. We just had a little bit of bad weather. Bad luck.
Your boyfriend sure doesn't like taking advice, Daddy.
No.
We're not really.
Really? You've never.
Never. Nope.
How's it looking?
Good. Anyway.
Think about it.
Valentina said you guys want me to stay with you.
Ready to stay?
I'm honored, bro.
Truly.
Always dreamed of dipping my toes in Monterey Bay again.
Yeah, I'm a banana slug.
A what?
Through and through.
See if my mom made it through.
But how the hell was I going to do that?
I had no idea.
And then, you showed up.
This beauty.
Talk about dumb luck.
Super dumb.
You think you can help us get there, though?
Yeah, yeah, good thing.
How long would that take?
Two weeks, three maybe, depending on the weather.
All right,
let it out.
How's it look?
Looks good.
Tie it down.
Cooper? Where is Cooper?
Everyone who can fight with a gun.
Everyone with a gun.
And there are not enough sticks, bottles, whatever.
Hold on.
Send her a text.
Try not to do anything stupid when we get there.
Can't make any promises.
Check on Roberto and Antonio and we'll get the hell out. I get it. We're
leaving. All right.
Come on.
These bastards are unbearable!
Us too!
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
You were his nephew.
I need to check on Roberto.
Which way do I go?
This way.
I'm with you. Okay.
I'll meet you at the square.
All right.
Load up on ammo and get back down there.
Roberto, ven a ayudarnos. I'll see you there.
¿Dónde vas? Voy a buscar a Alba y a Carmo.
We need to catch them.
No, I'm okay. We need to fight. No, come on. We need to fight.
We'll get it fixed up.
Why?
Yeah, something ain't right.
What the hell was that?
I told you.
What about this stuff?
Come on.
Come with me.
Antonio. Antonio.
Remove the remains from the holes in the llamas.
Take our dead to the cemetery, for the love of God.
Sergio. Yes.
Your people will join the guard.
This way they will serve as a warning to others.
For this, we give them to the girls of our town.
Lucía.
Josefina. Sandra and Valeria, and now Justina, for this?
It was supposed that Alcázar would protect us.
What we have experienced today is unprecedented.
But this new threat proves to us that our alliance with Alcázar is more
important than ever.
How can you say that?
Look what he's done to us! Without the gun or the machine guns that Alcázar
brought us, we wouldn't have survived the attack.
This is called surviving, really.
Take them.
How can you say that the Alliance works?
A fucking catastrophe.
Habíamos oído rumores sobre vosotros.
Pero pensaba que era solo eso.
Rumores.
¿Y cómo os llaman? ¿Cómo os llamáis?
¿Los Primigenios era?
Los Primitivos.
Primitivo.
¿De dónde venís?
¿Acaso eso no te lo han explicado?
¿De dónde venís?
Todas partes.
De ningún sitio.
¿Cuántos sois?
Decenas.
Centenas.
Millones. ¡Respóndeme!
I'm not your fucking servant.
And who do you serve?
Answer the fucking question!
Who do you serve?
What did he say?
They know from El Alcázar.
And the gifts they bring us.
But why destroy everything? What's the point?
The fuck do they want?
To burn it all down.
Someone is escaping.
Roberto!
Hey!
Hey,
you interfere with him.
He was going to stop Roberto.
Well, he's going to shoot him.
He was going to shoot the tires.
You're a fucking liar.
Hey, hey, hey, listen to me.
You have made a huge problem.
You should not have come here. This is not your fault.
You're right.
This is your fault.
And your son's.
And now you want me to send someone for him, right?
Tell me.
What happened?
Roberto took a truck and got away.
Well, we got to go after him.
We need every person we have to keep the village protected.
If Roberto gets to the Alcazar, he could destroy our alliance. I'll go.
Unless he gets himself killed first.
He is less able to survive out there than Roberto.
Actually,
when was the last time you even left the village?
I'll go with him.
We'll bring him back.
Okay.
Suit yourself.
You don't have to do this Your kid is missing when that happens having help
is a good thing Do you have to?
No.
Not anymore.
I'll grab the ethanol from the shed.
Meet you outside?
Mm -hmm.
You want to say what's on your mind?
I think you should let Roberto go.
Even if it gets him killed?
He's going to run off with Justina. You're all right with that.
What's the difference?
They were together, at least. He wasn't acting crazy.
He ain't going to stop.
He comes back here, nothing changes.
Suddenly you're Roberto's champion.
I just think he's old enough to make up his own mind.
And if he dies?
Are you ready?
Guess we'll see you when we get back.
Hey, wait up.
You're going, I'm going.
You think you're fine, Justina?
He won't talk till he dies.
O fusilarlo.
Matar no justifica matar.
Sino a nuestro Señor.
Just tracks down both roads.
Can you tell which way he went?
That way.
Your destiny depends on God.
And on your resistance, of course.
Roberto! Roberto!
Shh! There might be somebody in your bar.
What is that?
Something.
Roberto gave that to her before he left.
So they're together.
But where?
You must finish Patrick.
They can help him.
What about Justina? Where's that convoy go next?
Barcelona.
Batman,
they take our water.
I'll go get your water.
We have to fight them.
Your boyfriend sure doesn't like taking advice, does he?
No.
We're not... Really?
Nope.
When we wrote the scene where Valentina assumed that Daryl and Carol are a
couple, I thought that Norman and Melissa would have a lot to say about
They did not.
They seem to appreciate the humor and seem to recognize that it's a reasonable
assumption. And at the moment, you know, I think works very charmingly.
She's funky. I like the camaraderie between Valentina and Carol. Just kind
beginning friendship there.
In this season, we were trying to move Carol a little bit more towards a place
of peace. So we thought having a model of that was good and would be a good
relationship, which I think it turned out to be Irina who played Valentina was
fantastic. You hope things will play out well. If you're lucky, then things play
out even better than you expected.
How's it look?
Looks good.
Tie it down.
Episode four, the title is Frontier Justice.
It really is an episode that centers around an attack on the town of Solag
Mar.
And so it involves a story about a frontier town that's trying to defend
from marauders, the Primitivos.
Yeah, they see the Primitivos coming, of course they have to go to battle.
Three, two, one, action!
The Primitivos was an idea that we had in the writer's room that we had a lot
fun with. We just wanted a group that was completely amoral, that had almost
intent except destruction.
Here's kind of a hopeless army.
So it's kind of like a psycho criminal on the loose. We thought that would be
really scary and it would be true to an apocalypse, especially some years down
the road. And so out of that came this kind of idea of these wild primitivos,
which obviously means primitive people.
We gave the primitivos a very primal visual.
They're dressed in animal skins and they have horns. And it took quite a while
to come up with a look that felt real and not too fantastical.
Today I got really excited because we have like 60 stunt people working on
scene. You need so many people to be coordinated just to be able to shoot a
scene like this. All together at the same time, doing the same specific shot.
It's a lot of chaotic movement. There's a lot of action and adrenaline.
It's like the longest action sequence maybe that I can remember.
There were so many setups for that.
We have, you know, vehicles.
One is crashing through the gate.
We have primitivos fighting everywhere.
We have Daryl and Carol also making their way through the gate.
Yeah, exactly.
And then there's a fighting style that I've tried to sort of adapt and grow
along the years. I choose to have fluid weapons to duck under arms and swing.
And, you know, it's always, how do I get from this point to that point with the
least amount of effort?
In the smoothest way, because we're always running through.
I try to tell the story with this stunt. And our stunt team is really, really
good. I love this choreography.
It's pathophysical and has a lot of weapons. And she uses everything for the
fight. So this is the most exciting part for me. Really, it was one of the most
difficult action sequences that I've ever shot.
Most complex for the directors put together.
Paco did a really good job.
Something ain't right.
In our constant attempt to find new ways to use walkers, we talked about these
catapults that are used to project the flaming walkers into the town. That was
an idea of a medieval attack on a town.
They do it with a light effect. So there's a crane and a giant ball sort of
lantern that flies through the sky.
You know, that's what that looks like.
They hit and then they spread out.
And I show up, and they're already out.
We had a lot of people on fire.
We had nine zombies on fire at the same time, which was pretty good.
They cover themselves in this gel, and the gel is freezing.
It's a bunch of big stunt guys, like, you know, looking really scary, and
they're freezing.
We did a few tests.
With Greg and his team and my team, where we kind of mix all this energy and
experience together to make it look cool.
The most challenging thing? Everything is a challenge.
In this town, there are some people who are against El Alcazar and La Ofrenda,
but there are some of us who think that it's a price we have to pay because they
protect us. But after this massacre, there are lots of doubts about the real
protection that we receive from El Alcazar.
