Original subtitles

I'm going to have to go with Mel.

Kate.

I'm gonna have to go with Ronan.

I'm gonna go for Richard.

No disrespect to everybody else,

but I think I have the best singing team.

(SINGER VOCALISES) Yes!

And we're not done yet either.

What I'm looking for in my team is something unique.

Got to choose really carefully.

I have one slot left.

I am so excited to see what's next.

The talent just keeps coming.

It keeps coming.

Team Melanie, the team that is gonna entertain you.

Yes, yes, yes.

My team is really filling up.

I only have two spots left.

I need to be very strategic with these last two places.

Maybe I just need to, like, get my head ready for this crown.

I have world class artists on my team.

(SINGERS VOCALISE)

They're all so different.

And every time you press that button,

there's a lot at stake.

You want to hear something completely unexpected.

All the other coaches are amazing.

Obviously, the little Aussie underdog

might give them a run for their money.

I'm very excited.

My team is filling up.

I've got incredible voices.

There's five spots left

and I'm looking for that something special.

Thank god I've got that Irish charm.

Allegedly.

Tonight, as the blinds enter the home stretch...

Holy moly. Holy moly.

You could sing the menu to a Chinese takeout place.

And I would be like.

I'll order all of it.

It's coach versus coach.

I am also a songwriter. I already said that.

Actually-actually you didn't. I got that bit in already.

You didn't quite say that. No, I did, I did.

As the fight for artists...

You've got four coaches here that want you?

But one thing I want to say is...

# I turned for you. #

..get dirty.

I've got nobody like you on my team.

So, maybe if we went and we did that.

Oh!

Oh! You bastard!

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

(INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC)

Right.

Put your seat backs in the upright position.

Put your tray tables away.

Make sure your seat belt is securely fastened.

Hold on tight. It's The Voice.

Oops.

Is it all good?

How do you know how to hold it?

How do you hold this thing?

Like that? (SONG PLAYS IN BACKGROUND)

Just do it? Action.

(SONG PLAYS IN BACKGROUND)

My name is Ellaphon Tauariki.

I'm 27 years old.

I'm a youth worker.

So, a lot of the kids that I work with struggle with school.

They struggle with education.

That's where we come in to be a positive influence.

We jam music, play lots of sports.

Having been a troubled kid myself, I'm able to relate to them.

I was definitely a troubled kid. Was definitely rough.

I eventually ended up homeless in 2015.

As a homeless teen, man,

music was my safe place.

# Go search the world Without an atlas... #

The only person that really cared for me

was my then girlfriend, now wife.

I was at my lowest point and she supported me

and helped me get through it.

# Turn the language of another... #

My wife definitely saved me.

# Take the reins and go

# Discover these dreams... #

I'm so proud of how far I've come.

I'm a new dad to a baby girl.

Wow.

Brand new.

Fresh baby. Yeah.

Six-week-old baby.

Oh, wow.

You are having such a nice snooze there in your daddy's arms.

Are you thinking that one day she's gonna look back at this?

100%.

And that's the whole reason why I did this?

Really? Yeah.

Why do you say that?

Um. I don't come from much.

Yeah.

You know, and I just want my girl to be inspired by someone.

Yeah. You know. Yeah.

Do you want to give her a better life?

Oh, absolutely.

Can I just. Can I smell her?

Absolutely.

Oh, it's a fresh baby.

You're in my conscious.

I'm definitely not a professional singer

when I'm singing this to my wife and my baby.

I'm doing this for them.

Turning the chair could change our lives.

I'm just gonna hope that

my nerves don't get the better of me.

And that I'm good enough.

Here's your Daddy.

OK.

See what happens.

(SINGS) # Take a seat Right over there

# Sat on the stairs, stay or leave

# The cabinets are bare

# And I'm unaware of

# Just how we got into this mess

# It got so aggressive

# I know we meant All good intentions

# So, pull me closer, Why don't you pull me close?

# Why don't you come on over?

# I can't just let you go, Oh, baby... #

Here's your Daddy.

# Why don't you Just meet me in the middle?

# I'm losing my mind just a little

# So, why don't you just meet me In the middle?

# In the middle

# And it's not about my pride,

# I need you on my skin

# Just come and pull me in just... #

There you go.

(SINGS)

Come on.

# Oh, I'm losing my mind Just a little yeah

# And why don't you Just meet me in the middle

# In the middle yeah. #

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Four chairs.

Wow.

Oh, she didn't even wake up.

She missed the whole thing.

Missed Dad's whole performance.

Talk to me, Goose.

What's your name? Where are you from?

I want to... I want it all.

Hi, guys. My name is Ellaphon Tauariki.

I usually just go by Ella.

Ah, I am 27 years old and I'm from Auckland, New Zealand.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Wow.

Holy moly.

Holy moly shit.

What a voice. What a voice.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Man. I had goosebumps, proper goosebumps.

Your control, your diction, your rhythm.

I mean, you just got it all.

Do you sing publicly or...

I do...I do gigs here and there.

Um, but I'm mainly just a youth worker.

A lot of my time is just empower our kids

and-and youth to in hopes

that I can inspire them to-to be better.

You know, I'd love you to come to Team Ronan.

And I'd love to empower you and make you better.

But I'm not sure I can make you any better than

what I just saw, because that was...

That was incredible, dude.

Thank you so much.

That transported me to another world.

I would love to work with you

and explore different songs with you,

and see where we can go with this.

I feel like you could make it all the way

to the finals if you join Team Kate.

Thank you.

This is the reason I want you to come here to Australia

and be a part of The Voice.

To find voices like this. Like yours.

You know, and I feel inspired.

You were just singing directly from your soul.

You know, it was so beautiful. It was so powerful.

I felt a real connection to-to what you were doing.

You've got four coaches here that want you.

But one thing I want to say is...

# I turned for you. #

If that can get me anywhere.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Ella, what a performance.

It was a very unexpected song choice.

And I want to commend you on something.

Because when you first went for the big high note,

you were a little shaky.

You were probably nervous because you were,

like, thinking about it and thinking about it.

And then you showed what you're made of as a singer

because you crushed it after that, you were...

You did not stop you.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

That's-that's what professionals do.

That's what a pro does.

And I've written and produced a lot of the greatest singers ever.

I've gotten to work with people like Luther Vandross.

Like Celine Dion. Like Leann Rimes.

Here we go.

Who I consider to be some of the greatest voices

I've ever heard.

And you're on the list of one of the greatest voices

I've ever heard.

And all I'll say...all I'll say, Ella, is...

# I am right here waiting for you.

# Come on, man! #

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Oh, I'd love to say come meet me in the middle.

But it's probably best that...

# I say nothing at all. #

OK, seriously, just think about if it was...

# Your last day on earth. #

Oh.

Who-who would you really trust?

To guide you through this process.

A bunch of fly ins from the Northern hemisphere?

(LAUGHTER)

Oh.

Kate, I've heard this speech before.

Kate with her I'm local. I'm right here.

You can reach me anytime.

You've got access to whoever you pick.

Don't let her fool you into thinking

that that's some special thing like...

And listen, I really like Kate a lot.

I think she's incredibly talented, and she's probably a good coach.

Oh.

And when we win this thing, we'll take her out for a drink.

Wow.

The condescension is that someone who'd like to work every day.

You two stop...you two stop. Ella.

The choice is yours, Ella.

Do what you gotta do.

Come here. Come here. Please. Please come here.

I love each and every single one of you.

And I thank you guys for turning for me.

Um...

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Um I want to join Ronan's team.

Yeah. Yeah.

I've won.

Thank you.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

What a performance.

I'm so honoured to have you on my team.

I'm so honoured to have you on my team.

We're gonna win this. I'm gonna win this.

Bloody Ronan.

Could have used my ultimate block.

Come on. Sorry, guys.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

I don't believe it.

Thank you so much.

That's amazing.

Oh, wow.

She's so beautiful.

Thanks for joining Team Ronan.

Thank you. Thank you.

We're gonna have a lot of fun. Thank you.

Take care, brother.

Bye, guys. See you.

Amen to that.

I'm so proud of you, darling.

Thank you, my darling. OK. You ready?

We did it. You did it.

No, we did it. It's a team effort.

I wouldn't have been able to do it without you.

I just turned four chairs.

I'm on Team Ronan.

Let's go! High five.

And go. Wow.

Thanks.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Oh, my god! Oh, my god!

Can't believe he picked me.

I'm so chuffed. I'm so chuffed.

Honest I'm so excited to get him singing.

It's the dream.

This guy's the dream.

Yeah!

I think I've ticked every box with my team so far.

I'm gonna pick Ronan.

Ronan. Ronan.

Ronan. You're on Team Ronan.

Team Ronan has six, which means four places left.

Yeah, I've got a real mixed bag.

I've got piano man. Big voices.

I wanted you so bad I had to use my ultimate block.

Look, I love finding unique singers.

This is what you are born to do.

I think the other coaches are scared.

Good luck.

Good luck to you.

Good luck to you.

# This is The Voice. #

# This is The Voice. #

Mel, what are you looking for?

A bit more fun. Maybe today.

Bit more fun?

Yeah, I've already... OK.

..got some fun, but something just a bit more.

Maybe a bit more light.

OK. Bouncy.

Oh, like my hair. OK.

# The way you talk

# Can I come and talk to you... #

My name is Cherie Sandoval.

I am 35 years old.

I'm Australian,

but my family were Chilean.

Being, you know,

Latina music is definitely in my blood.

(SAMBA MUSIC)

I do have a background in Brazilian samba dance.

I was a professional dancer for seven years.

When I used to sing before I started dancing I was really shy.

So, when samba came into it, it really helped me as a performer.

It's brought out that confidence

and the feeling that it brings is just...

It's just fire.

It's the party, it's celebration, it's life.

It's sexy. It's like no rules.

It's just fun.

So, in my performance,

I do have a little surprise for the coaches.

It does involve some Latin influence and a little bit of dance

It's gonna be my first performance with dance and singing altogether.

I am nervous.

There's so many things that could happen

I could not be able to control my voice.

I could fall over.

Artist walk in.

And I gotta make sure my vocals

are flawless from start to finish.

With the dancing involved too.

Vamos.

Vamos.

Come on. Ooh.

OK.

# She make you take your clothes off

# And go dancing in the rain

# She make you live a crazy life

# But she'll take away Your pain... #

Nice!

# Like a bullet to your brain

# She's into superstition

# Black cats and voodoo dolls

# I feel a premonition

# That girl's gonna Make me fall... #

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

(INDISTINCT). She's dancing.

# She's into new sensations

# New kicks in the candle light

# She's got a new addition For every day and night

# She'll make you take your clothes Off and go dancing in the rain

# She'll make you live a crazy life

# But she'll take away your pain

# Like a bullet through Your brain come on

# Outside, inside out Livin' la vida loca

# She'll push and pull you down

# Livin' la vida loca

# Her lips are devil red And her skin is the colour mocha

# She will wear you wear out, Livin' la vida loca

# Livin' la vida loca, Livin' la vida loca... #

Well done.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Oh, Ronan.

Ronan. Why didn't you turn?

Hey, how are you? What's your name?

My name is Cherie Sandoval. I'm 35 and I'm from the Gold Coast.

Wow. Nice!

Holy moly. You look amazing.

Thank you. This is incredible.

This costume. Talk us through all of it.

This costume.

The headpiece is a Brazilian samba outfit.

OK.

I was a professional samba dancer.

I danced all around Australia and internationally as well.

And this is the first time I've danced and sang on stage.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

This is the first time you've sang and danced at the same time ever.

Wow. Really? That is incredible.

That's impressive.

You know, I'm disappointed

I didn't turn from more than anything

just to see the performance.

Is there any way...

Yes.

..that we could get another performance, please?

Sonia knows how to dance.

Sonia?

('LIVIN' LA VIDA LOCA' BY RICKY MARTIN PLAYS)

Come on.

It's in the hips.

One, two, three. One, two, three.

That's it.

Hey.

I'm gonna step back.

And listen to (INDISTINCT).

# Livin' la vida loca... #

Hips.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Wow!

Nicely done, gang.

Thanks, guys.

I'm out of breath now I can't even speak.

You are just a born performer.

Your stage presence is magnetic.

You had this incredible energy the whole way through.

And you've got a fantastic voice, too.

I would absolutely love to have you on my team.

Team Kate.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Thank you.

Cherie, I was a little unsure at first,

but you-you kind of went from strength to strength.

You didn't tie yourself out. So, incredible stamina.

Well, I mean, I. You know, I'm Sporty Spice.

I have experience of dancing and singing.

Quite different choreography, but that's-that's pretty brutal,

you know, to keep your breath.

I'm really impressed and fun.

You know, it's so nice. This is entertainment.

You know, we talk about singers, we want to be moved,

but it's also great to have some fun.

Yeah. Too right. Yeah.

I just think you could work well together.

And it'd be really fun to explore some different sides to you.

So, I think if you are on Team Melanie,

that's what we could do.

The same thing would happen on Team Richard,

except we'd have even more fun.

There you go.

Are you Latin?

Yes. My parents are Chilean.

Oh, OK. My family over there.

So... Hi, family.

Well, I-I... It's in our blood.

I suspected because I'm married to a Latina from Cuba,

so I love that whole vibe.

I love that music.

And at first, I thought it's a dancer

who sings a little bit.

And then I was starting to get impressed

with how you were maintaining your vocal.

But then what really sold me after I had turned was watching you

after dancing hit that last high note and hold it.

Which was what?

(SINGS NOTE)

Was it like that high? Yeah.

And you crushed it.

You were like, "I got this." You didn't sound out of breath.

I feel like there's a lot we could do together vocally.

I would love to help you really dig deeper into your singing,

'cause I think you have a really good voice.

Thank you.

Thank you so much.

Do you mostly sing Latin music or do you sing a variety of stuff?

I sing a variety of stuff, but Latin music is my blood.

You know, it's part of our life. Yeah.

Just like my wife's blood.

So, Cherie, the option is yours.

You can go Team Kate. Team Richard. Team Mel C.

I would choose everyone if I could.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

I think I'm gonna go with Mel C.

Ha ha!

Yes! There you go.

Yeah.

Ha! (LAUGHS)

Oh, boy. How are you feeling?

You OK? Yeah.

Oh, there you go.

Well, shit. Yeah.

You turned first.

I turned first.

Yeah, I thought I-I thought my pitch was solid.

I thought I thought it was.

Maybe it's because I didn't get up and dance.

But I know my strengths, and that's not one of them.

Yeah, I should have known mine.

(CHEERS)

Ha ha, she did it!

I'm feeling so excited.

So good to meet you.

It just feels surreal.

And I'm still kind of going through my head.

What just happened? It went so fast.

Three. Three. Three.

One unlucky judge.

It feels surreal to be coached by a Spice Girl.

Mel C! Mel C! Mel C!

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

I said I wanted fun.

Yeah, you wanted fun. You got fun.

I mean, it's like Deliveroo. It's incredible.

('EYES ON ME' BY THE RED COLLECTIVE PLAYS)

Throughout the blind auditions, as the teams begin to stack up.

The pressure has been on.

You blocked me.

Payback's a bitch, ain't it?

Melanie C is almost locked in.

I choose Mel.

I want Mel C. Mel.

Melanie C.

Yes. Yes. Yes!

With just one spot left on her team,

while Team Richard is keeping pace.

I want you on my team.

I got you on my team. You are so amazing.

Also, with one space remaining,

Kate still has room to move.

You're on Team Kate.

Congratulations.

With four spots open.

Next...

I'm going to be singing,

but I'm also gonna be playing the bagpipes.

Yeah, Dad.

But will this voice

have the coaches turning their chairs?

Keys. Guitar. Violin?

And later, which amazing artist audition

moves the coaches to tears.

I'm just... Yeah. Thanks.

# This is The Voice. #

# This is The Voice. #

You've only got one spot left, right?

I've got one. Yeah.

You've got one left.

Oh, wow.

This could be the moment one team fills up.

Wow.

I feel like it will be.

I feel like somebody's gonna fill up their team on this one.

Feel it in your bones. I feel it in my bones.

OK. Let's go.

Am I decent?

Because I'm true, I can't...I can't take that risk.

Not on...not on national TV.

It means you just have a kilt on.

Nothing else.

I'm Angus and I am 59 years old.

I consider myself a songwriter. That's what I've always done.

I write my songs, interpret the world,

and then I perform them.

I'm ah I-I consider myself charmed.

I really shouldn't be here anymore.

Well, where do I begin?

So, I was on tour, and I had a cardiac arrest.

I was technically dead for two minutes.

I was intubated,

and the attending nurse told my brother and his wife,

"We're not sure if he's gonna survive.

"It's really important you try to bring him back."

So, they held up a recording of my kids voices.

And they're the reason I'm here.

Their voices brought me back,

so I want to use my voice out there to sing for them.

This is it. Yeah. How do you feel?

It's pretty special moment. Whatever happens.

Yeah.

I think it's really special because I didn't think

I'd ever get to see you perform, like, play music again or,

like, even see you again.

I think it is inspiring to everyone that you're back out here,

especially on such a big stage.

Yeah.

So, my blind audition, I'm gonna be singing

surprise, surprise, but I'm also gonna be playing the bagpipes.

Artist walk in.

Yeah, Dad! Whoo.

And I'm gonna be running a loop station at my feet,

which will have pre-recorded instruments.

Much could go wrong in a performance like this,

because there's a lot to think about,

and you've got to get it right in that amount of time.

What's happening?

We go keys, guitar, violin? I mean...

(SINGS)

# Just to cast away An island lost at sea

# On another windy day

# No-one here but me oh

# Rescue me before.

# I fall into despair... #

What's that?

What's that?

I have no idea.

# Send me out an SOS

# Send me out an SOS

# Send me out and SOS.

Accordion? Accordion?

# Sending out an SOS

# Sending out an SOS

# Sending out an SOS... # Two?

# Message in a bottle

# Message in a bottle

# Message in a bottle

# No

# No one here but me

# No one here but me

# No one here but me

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Oh!

Oh, bagpipes.

Hello there.

Hello.

Hey, what's your name? Where are you from?

And talk me through everything that I'm looking at right now.

This is amazing.

I am Angus. Hey, Angus.

Hi. Angus. And I was born in Sydney.

I can't tell you how amazing it is to be here.

It's... Yes.

It's kind of surreal.

I don't think we've ever had bagpipes

on The Voice stage ever before,

let alone this contraption.

It looks like a...like a hybrid of...

Or is it just. It's not just a bagpipe, right?

It's a bagpipe, but it's electronic.

How were you singing?

You looped the bagpipes and then you sang over the top.

Is that right? I pre-recorded some harmonies.

Oh, OK.

But then I played the melodies live.

I absolutely love what you just did.

I feel like that was truly something.

The reason I didn't turn around,

I was thinking to myself, OK, alright.

What...what pop songs can we choose

that we can put bagpipes and vocal looping in,

and I just wouldn't know how to mentor you.

I it's not my area of expertise. Ah but I absolutely loved it.

I actually have Scottish heritage.

So, there's something about the bagpipes.

It just draws you in, doesn't it? So, I loved your performance.

Angus, first let me tell you why I didn't turn.

We are nearing the end obviously,

I only have one slot left on my team.

I came into this with a certain expectation

of what I want for my team.

But as an artist,

I have so much respect for what you just did.

It was so compelling and amazing.

Oh. Thank you.

Can I ask you a huge favour?

Yes, because we didn't turn around. I want to.

Will you...will you perform something again?

Because I want to watch you.

I want to listen and watch you.

Would you honour us

with a with a performance of something?

I would love to. Let me see what I can do.

Loading the bag up.

One man band.

# I am king, you are queen tonight

# And we are everyone free for me

# We are... # Come on.

(SINGS) # Everyone free... #

Oh, my god.

# Yeah, we are everyone free. #

Oh, my god.

Whoo!

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Wow, man.

Wow, was that amazing. You are so amazing.

Well, thank you. Richard. Bloody hell.

Amazing coming from you man.

We have to keep in touch.

I would love that.

I need to like we need to hang out.

I look forward to it, brother.

Wow.

Thank you, Angus.

Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you so much. Amazing.

You guys are fantastic. Thank you.

That really moved me.

Like...

Yeah. Remarkable. Oh, that was remarkable.

Oh.

Group hug, everybody. That was good.

That was amazing. (CROSSTALK)

That was so cool. That was awesome.

It was fun.

It was so good having you guys there.

Good job, Dad.

Thank you, big fella.

Next...

It's a little bit intimidating playing a song

that a lot of people know quite well,

and I'm changing a little bit.

He's changed an iconic, classic.

Song I'm singing for my blind audition

is 'Dreams' by Fleetwood Mac.

But will it strike a chord with the coaches?

I can't change my song now, can I?

# This is The Voice. #

Make some noise!

It's a remarkable thing

getting to be a performer.

I get to do something that

I would do for fun, for a living.

Richard Marx!

Walking away from an audience

and seeing their faces

and seeing them smiling

and knowing I'm sending them on their way happy is a privilege.

Melanie C.

Honestly.

To be able to go out and perform in front of 30 people,

300 people, 30,000 people.

It's my happy place.

Kate Miller-Heidke.

It's like an out-of-body experience.

Like you've been given a superpower.

It's an incredible feeling.

Ronan Keating.

I feel at home.

I feel like this is what I'm supposed to do, you know?

Alright, here we go. Standing by for our next artist.

The feeling for me performing is-is incredible.

I've always loved it.

My dream is to be able to make a living off music.

Whether through writing, performing.

It'd be great to just be able to do that.

I'm Euan Hart.

I'm 25 and I'm from Sydney.

I'm nervous. I'm very nervous.

Just go out there. Be yourself.

Smile. Enjoy it. Relax.

It's always great to see you doing

what you love and what you're passionate about.

I would say my Mum

is most of the time my number one supporter.

And I'm always nervous before you get up on stage.

But once you start playing and you start singing,

I kind of go, oh wow, he can actually do this.

And it's just a joy, I suppose, to see you enjoying what you love.

Yeah. Hey, listen...

Yeah. Good luck.

Be a good boy.

Singing with just my acoustic guitar

in front of the whole country is-is very scary.

Artist walk in.

Getting a chair turn would

really make a difference on my musical career.

Having a mentor from the get-go would be so amazing.

So, I really hope it happens.

It's the biggest opportunity I've had, so I'm pretty scared.

Come on Euan.

# Now, here we go again

# You say you want your freedom

# Who am I to keep you down?

# It's only right that you should

# Play the way you feel it... #

Yeah.

# But listen carefully

# To the sound of your loneliness

# Like a heartbeat drives me mad

# It's stillness of remembering

# What you had and what you lost

# Whoa... #

Awesome.

# Oh, thunder only happens When it's raining

# Players only love you When they're playing

# I say women, They will come and they will go

# When the rain washes you clean, You'll know

# You will know, you will know

# You will know. #

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Wow.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

What a moment. God, I was totally transfixed.

I was mesmerised by that.

Thank you. What... What's your name? Where do you come from

Hi, I'm Euan Hart and I'm 25 and I'm from Sydney.

And this here... This is your Mum and Dad?

She's my Mum. My biggest supporter.

Hi, Ronan. Hi, how are ya?

So great.

Yes, she's. She's Irish.

We didn't do the matching green on purpose.

Oh, I love it. Beautiful.

Oh, you have to come to my team, then. I mean.

I feel like the fix...the fix is in.

I feel like you're almost fully cooked.

You know, as an artist. Thank you.

You know who you are. You know what you want to say.

I mean, I can hear strains of different singers,

but you're an individual,

and I think you really need to join Team Kate,

and we can take this further.

Thanks, Kate. Thank you.

That was an outstanding performance.

I-I do need to, like, explain myself.

I just felt like there's probably a better home for you than with me.

I was being selfless.

But-but regardless, it was exquisite.

When did the music start for you?

I grew up with music a lot in the house,

and I work marketing part time to kind of fund music.

Try and get that going.

Well, I've got a really good feeling

that you're not gonna be doing your day job for much longer.

Oh, thanks. Cheers.

This is really tough for me, man.

Oh.

The only reason I didn't turn was because I feel like

when it comes to the battles,

you on my team might get overshadowed.

And you're too good for that.

You have the potential to go far in this competition.

If not, win it.

Thanks.

And you're...You are in good hands-ish with these two.

Hey, buddy. You look like a star, man.

You got a great look. Thanks. Thank you.

And then your musicality you know, understanding the dynamic,

how you perform that song and the story that you told us.

I felt it. You know, you got it.

You got that connection. You're an artist.

Do you... Have you...have you attempted to write songs?

Yeah. So, I write a lot of music.

I've released a lot of music.

OK, brilliant.

Well, I can help you with all of that.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

We can do this together, man,

we can go really far in this competition.

So, come on over. And your mum's Irish.

Come on. It makes sense.

Maybe if you're wearing some green as well.

I have green underwear on.

Yeah. OK.

He's offering to show. Show us.

He wants to share his undies with you.

It's alright.

OK, that's getting... Yeah.

It's a bit desperate. Yeah, it's a bromance.

It's alright. Look.

I mean, join Team Kate, and I will take you all the way.

I promise.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

And by the way...

Oh, she's gonna...she's gonna get to play the Australian card.

Go on.

You don't know what I'm gonna say.

Go on.

I am also a songwriter,

obviously, and I can't wait to hear your original material.

I would love to hear that.

No, I already said that. I got that bit in already.

Actually-actually you didn't...you didn't quite say that.

I did, I did ask him. He said he writes his own songs.

You said you'd help him with it.

You said you'd help him with it.

I can help him with it. As if he needs help.

This is hard.

It's up to you.

I have to pick now, do I? OK.

Time to pick. Um.

Go with your heart.

I'm...

I feel like we understand each other.

Come on over here to Team Ronan, please.

I had in my mind from-from the beginning

that I'd probably go with Kate.

OK. But...

Is that still the same?

Um.

Ronan, I...

I'd love to work with you because, you know, you're Irish,

and my mum loves you, actually.

But I'm gonna go with Kate.

Oh. Oh.

Yes. Suck it.

Well done. Sucked in.

Thank you, thank you though.

Thank you. That was brilliant.

Oh. Well done. You smashed it.

Thank you. Absolutely fantastic.

He's awesome. He's fun.

He's like a young Bob Dylany vibe.

Yeah. That song. What a song.

And he nailed it, man. He made it his own.

Hi.

I'm so pleased for you.

How are ya? Thank you, Kate.

Pleasure to meet you. Oh, of course.

You. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm not Ronan.

No, it's alright. It's alright.

I'm excited to work with Kate.

She does some really interesting projects,

and, yeah, I'm excited to hear

what she kind of has to say about my voice as well, you know?

Oh, well. Congratulations.

Oh, thanks a million. You must be so proud.

Yeah, very proud. Well done, well done.

Thank you very much.

I'll see you soon. Bye. Bye. Bye, bye.

Why didn't you pick Ronan?

Are you joking?

Yeah. I did think you were gonna say that.

The first thing you were gonna say.

Well done.

I'm feeling good. I'm feeling good.

I just had that strong instinct, and I ran with it, I think.

He's such a pro. He's-he's a true all round musician.

And that excites me. I'm feeling pretty confident.

I'm feeling pretty good in this chair.

Yeah, I think Team Kate.

They're not coming to muck around.

Make some noise!

Coming up...

Which of these artists...

It's one of the greatest things

I've ever seen on any competition show ever.

..gives a block worthy performance?

So, maybe if we went and we did that.

Oh, you bastard.

# This is The Voice. #

You trying to keep yourself awake there?

Oh, yeah. Alright, keep it going.

OK, sit down, Ronan, here we go.

Jesus. Sit down, Ronan.

Sit down, Ronan.

Yes, ma'am.

(UPBEAT MUSIC)

I'm Tiana Rosie,

I'm 26 and I'm from Brisbane.

(SONG PLAYS IN BACKGROUND)

I'm a very competitive person.

I used to do gymnastics. I did it for about three years.

I loved the challenge of learning new skills and gonna competitions.

But I couldn't ignore my passion for music.

So, I started giving it a red hot crack.

(SONG PLAYS IN BACKGROUND)

I used to be really shy with singing.

I'd kind of be the person that was harmonising

and not the person at the front.

The response I got from friends made me think,

"Oh, OK, well, I love doing this and I don't...

Apparently I don't sound that bad, so maybe I can do it."

Thanks.

We wouldn't miss it for the world, would we?

You can do this.

I'm so nervous when the nerves kick in.

I'm pretty unpredictable.

I think my biggest fear stepping out on stage

is that it's gonna be so overwhelming,

and my adrenaline is just gonna all come up at once,

and then I might forget lyrics

or feel sick and then not sing properly.

Not sing to the best of my ability.

Artist walk in.

I have no idea if I can control these nerves

once I step out there,

I am just gonna give it my best shot

and hope that one of those chairs turns.

Go, Tiana. You got this.

# You don't own me.

# I'm not just One of your many ones... #

That baseline.

(SINGS) # You don't own me

# Don't say I can't go with other boys

# Don't tell me what to do

# And don't tell me what to say

# Please, when I go out with you

# Don't put me on display

# Oh, you don't own me... #

Nice.

(SINGS) # Don't tie me down

# 'Cause I never stand

# Hey, I don't tell you what to say

# I don't tell you what to do

# So, just let me be myself

# That's all I ask of you

# I'm yours

# And I love to be, I'm not free... #

Come on.

(SINGS) # And I love to be free

# To live my life the way I want to say

# Do whatever I please

# Hey, hey

# I you don't

# You don't own me. #

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Oh, my god. Oh, no.

Hi. I'm Tiana Rosie. I'm 26 and I'm from Brisbane.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Hey, Tiana. Really lovely to meet you.

At this point, I've got one space left, so I'm like this.

I'm listening.

But in all honesty, I'm absolutely kicking myself right now.

I think this is the biggest mistake we've made.

I really regret my decision not to turn for you.

You know, you sounded amazing.

Thank you.

You should be really proud of your performance.

Yeah.

We were all like...

Edge of the seat. And I'll speak for myself.

I have a team structured and-and chosen already

that I worry that you would compete with a couple of the other

female singers I have on my team.

Doesn't change the fact

that that was a really, really good performance.

And you have a beautiful voice.

Thank you, I appreciate it. Thank you.

Tiana. Beautiful name. Sorry you didn't get any chance.

A big song to take on. And I could hear the nerves.

To be honest, I think you're still figuring out your voice.

You know, you're 26. You're young. You got time.

You need to go out there.

You need to get more experience performing and then come back.

Honestly, you have something.

It's just... It's so raw. It's not ready just yet.

Thank you.

Thanks for coming to The Voice.

Thank you. Well done.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

She looks like a pop star, she's cool.

Totally.

Oh, that's such a shame. Yeah.

You're right, Mel, we might have made a mistake,

but hey, next year.

Hi. Hi.

I'm feeling pretty disappointed.

I definitely gave it my all.

So, yeah.

You did such a good job.

Hearing Melanie C as well. Be like, oh, we regret it.

It was hard to hear.

But it did also make me feel a little bit better about

my performance.

I should take their advice. Go do some more shows.

Yeah. And... And come back?

(INDISTINCT).

(APPLAUSE)

We're nearing the end of the blinds.

All of our teams are incredibly strong,

and we've got to be picky.

We've really... There's only a few spaces left.

She sounded so great,

but I'm looking for that something special.

# This is The Voice. #

GOOD EVENING

# This is The Voice. #

Growing up, I have always been surrounded by music.

Every time I perform,

it's like everything else disappears

and I feel myself.

I feel my identity, my family.

It's all with me.

My name is Olivia Coe Fox.

I am 21 years old

and I am from Sydney.

# I've been chasing Waterfalls inside... #

I'm a proud Wiradjuri woman from central New South Wales.

Learning Aboriginal languages and integrating them into song

is something that I hold very close to my heart.

To share the beautiful language that makes me so happy

because they are sacred and traditional languages.

It's very special and I do enjoy it a lot.

(SONG PLAYS IN BACKGROUND)

My ultimate dream is to become a First Nations artist

in the music industry.

And being on The Voice is such an incredible opportunity.

Singing in language is so special.

It's like we're keeping the fire burning.

I'm so proud that you're keeping the culture alive.

Because.

Because when your grandfather was little,

he wasn't able to speak his language.

So, you'd go, girl, and you'd just be very proud of who you are.

For my blind audition,

I will be singing

an Australian classic

while integrating a traditional Aboriginal language.

This is something tha hasn't been done on the show before,

so it's really scary.

But I really hope that the coaches will feel something

and hopefully I will turn a chair

even without them understanding the words.

(SONG PLAYS IN BACKGROUND)

She's gonna be good.

Yeah? I'm so ready for this.

Fingers crossed.

Come on, be good. Let's go, let's go.

(SINGS) # I came from the dream time... #

Oh, wow.

# From the dusty red soil place

# I am the ancient heart

# The keeper of the flame

# I stood upon the rocky shore

# I watched the tall ships come

# For 40,000 years

# I've been The first Australian... #

(SINGS IN WIRADJURI)

# We are one but we are many

# And from all the lands On earth we come

# We share a dream

# And sing with one voice

# I am

# You are

# We are Australian... #

(SINGS IN WIRADJURI)

(SINGS)

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Thank you.

I'd like to say a very big thank you to my brother,

Ninan Simpson, for joining me today.

Gorgeous.

Oh, wow.

I think I just got full body goosebumps.

What's your name? Where are you from?

My name is Olivia Coe Fox.

I am 21 years old and I'm from Sydney.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

I have such a love for that song.

I think it should be the national anthem, imagine...

I imagine, I mean.

Gorgeous.

That song choice, the way you reinvented it

is so courageous and so coo to hear you singing that in language

I think it's so easy to point out the flaws about this country,

but actually we're pretty bloody lucky to live here with...

I feel the same.

And especially and because of the fact

that we have the world's oldest living culture.

Yeah!

Yeah!

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

We sure do.

I'm just...I'm just yeah, thanks.

Aw, thank you so much for that, Kate.

It gives me goosebumps every time I sing in language.

And I really hope everyone else felt that too.

You don't have to understand the words to feel something.

So, I think that's what's very important.

So, I think that's what's very important.

Hi, Olivia. Hi.

Listen to you sing, I thought, "She can sing anything."

You could sing the menu to a Chinese takeout place.

And I would be like.

I'll order all of it. Yeah.

You should be very proud of that performance.

And it's one of the greatest things

Thank you so much.

Look at you.

I do have some experience

with some of the greatest female voices of all time.

I've had the honour and privilege of producing Barbra Streisand.

I saw her perform live. She was awesome.

I've had the honour and privilege of having produced

and written with Australia's own Olivia Newton-John.

Wow. Wow.

And there's-there's a purity and a beauty,

and there's an elegance to your singing that reminds me of them.

And I would really love the opportunity to work with you.

Look, I-I was incredibly moved by that performance, Olivia.

You've got it. You've got it all.

I've got to think about if you come to Team Ronan

where we can take it next,

and I think we can go all the way to the final,

Olivia, you come on over here.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Olivia, I've got nobody like you on my team.

And you really should come to Team Ronan, honestly.

I'm Irish, but my wife's Australian.

Like, would you consider coming to Team Ronan?

Well, I have to consider four teams now.

Yeah. So...

Yeah. ..this whole time.

But like, OK, so Kate's Australian I get it.

You'd probably want to go to Kate. These two over here.

Not so much. Whoa.

Oh, you know you've got...you've got English,

you've got American.

I'm-I'm kind of half Australian. My children are Australian.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

You know.

So, maybe if we went and we did that.

Then maybe perhaps she would come over here.

Oh! You bastard!

# This is The Voice. #

So, maybe if we went and we did that.

Then maybe perhaps you would come over here.

That is brutal, Ronan.

Whoa!

Well, you know what?

I'll take second choice.

I mean, look... No, no, no.

OK, boys. My turn.

I thought I was out of the race,

but you've thrown a spanner in the works.

Now, I'm thinking I would love you in my team.

Only now you love her. I've always loved you.

Hey, no, no, no, no.

So, she's a bit late to the race, Olivia.

I was being diplomatic.

Melanie C being diplomatic.

I mean, I mean... I am diplomatic.

This is fun to watch. This is fun to watch.

The guys, I mean,

I feel like there's some feminine energy.

Yeah.

And I'm all about feminine energy over here.

Right here. You know, it's very important.

And I've got...I've got lots of my own.

You know, I'm-I'm becoming more Australian by the day.

Yeah, I bagged myself an Australian.

Just 'cause you're on the time zone

doesn't mean you're Australian.

I've got a seven-year-old and a four-year-old,

and they both have Australian passports.

OK.

OK, Ronan. That's enough.

You're gone, shh! Hey!

I'm still allowed to speak.

I think it's time for her to make her decision.

She doesn't want to hear about your kids' passports.

OK, Olivia.

Oh, this is a really tricky decision.

Oh.

I've got some good ideas. I've got some great song ideas.

OK. Alright.

You know, before Kate was blocked,

Kate was in my mind.

Interesting.

But after Ronan's little...

Oh, no. Uh-oh.

You might have blown it.

It's only becaus I really want you to think about me.

Stop thinking about yourself.

(LAUGHTER)

Wow. Olivia.

You know, it's about Team Ronan.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

The team that I will be choosing is...

(DRAMATIC MUSIC)

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Ronan! I don't know, Mel!

..Team Ronan. Yeah.

Thanks. Thanks. (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Leave it.

Thank you. My god, you are magnificent.

You are magnificent.

Thank you very much. Thank you.

I am so honoured.

Thank you. Thank you.

(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)

Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo, yo.

(INDISTINCT).

Hello, family.

I was pretty sure she was gonna go to Kate.

So, what I did was a terrible thing.

We're happy, we're happy.

What a win for Team Ronan.

I mean, that was so beautiful, so moving, so magical.

How proud are you?

Very, very proud of you.

Yeah.

I'm so excited.

Now, I'm gonna go start thinking about songs

and I'll come back to you.

But enjoy this time with your family.

Thank you.

Thanks, guys. Have a good evening.

See you later. Thank you.

W-T-F?

I wanted her more than I've wanted anyone.

I thought you guys had a bond,

but he picked that up and he really wanted her.

He's ruthless.

Gee, you think you know someone?

Yeah.

I always knew he had it in him.

Comes across all nicey nicey.

I did not see that move coming.

No, I did not see that coming.

I gotta bring out the ruthlessness in myself a little bit.

I think the strategy worked.

I've missed out on a very special artist.

I've been blocked twice from...

Both from artists who I wanted desperately.

That really breaks my heart.

You know, I felt like that one was meant to be.

And I'm genuinely sad about it.

Revenge is best served cold, right?

So, I'm gonna lull them into a false sense of safety and then

come in from behind.
