The Battles are here.
In the Blinds
it's just you on the stage.
Next, you have to sing with other people
and prove you have
what it takes to win.
(SINGERS VOCALISE)
In the Battles two artists
will go head-to-head.
Oh, my gosh.
No, way!
They'll sing the same song.
But only one can win.
Whichever one of you breaks my heart the worst
in this performance is probably gonna win.
Cool. That's good to know.
Sorry, about that.
So, I've got ten incredible artists on my team,
but I need to get that down to five.
Oh. What am I gonna do?
I can't let either of you go home. I don't know what to do.
Oh, this is brutal. This is brutal.
I'm so glad I'm not you.
Thank you.
But I have a lifeline for one lucky artist.
Each coach gets one, save
that they can use on any artist from any team.
It's time for you to be with a female vocalist as a mentor.
I love Ronan, but he failed you.
It's gonna be tempting to go with Ronan,
the one that you know.
All I wanna say to you is look where that's got you.
OK.
I'm gonna tell you right now, if any coach has an artist I want.
I'm gonna take them for Team Richard.
I am wedged between two coaches who have stolen my team members.
Maybe you should have coached them better.
I didn't, I didn't.
This is when the competition really heats up.
No, I-I disagree with Kate.
Well, let's watch the footage back.
Wow. Is it cheating?
I'm sorry, guys, I'm-I'm really struggling.
I feel like.
Well, look, guys, just give me a second,
because I'm-I'm...
I just...I just... I just need to sort...
Oh, what are you up to?
I just need to sort something out.
Just give me a minute. Please. Please.
I felt like I was watching two greats.
You guys just blew the roof off this place.
To win The Voice. It's more than singing.
It's heart, soul, artistry.
This is their chance to prove they have that.
It was perfect. Yes.
I'm looking for that superstar voice
I can take all the way.
(THEME MUSIC) (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Australia.
Welcome to the Battles
over three epic nights our artists will go head-to-head,
but only the best voices will survive.
It's do or die Australia. And it all kicks off right now.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Hello. Welcome. Hi.
How are you, Cecily? I'm good. How are you?
Great to see you. I'm well.
I'm really well. How are you feeling?
Um... Come in. Yeah.
# Think of me... #
In her Blind audition Cecily had this beautiful, pure
soprano voice.
The kind of voice I've been waiting to hear.
I can't wait to get under the hood and work with you one-on-one.
Oh, my gosh. (CHUCKLES)
I'm looking forward to finding out.
Is she up for a challenge?
Is she up for pushing herself out of her comfort zone?
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
I bet you want to know who you'll be singing with.
Yeah.
Well, I'm super excited to see your reaction.
Here he is. Come on in.
How you doing? Oh, my gosh.
Hi, James. Hi, darling. How are ya?
I'm great. How are you?
It's good to see you. You know, Cecily.
Hi. Hi, how are ya?
Good. How are you?
# And I won't... #
At the Blinds James was a four chair turn.
He had so much originality.
He completely reinvented the song 'Stand By Me'.
# Why don't you stand by me? #
He plays guitar for other people
and this is his chance to really
step into the spotlight and own it for himself.
# Baby please, stand by me... #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
This is quite a contrast.
Quite a contrast.
Cecily and James
are both amazing in their own genres,
but I-I'm really curious to see if they can break out of that
and try something new.
So, this is a song about challenging your versatility.
Ooh.
Your song for the Battle is...
'I Was Made for Lovin' You' by Kiss.
Whoo! Whoo-hoo!
Here we go. Oh, my gosh.
Cecily, I need to see how far you can loosen up.
You know, where we're-we're
out of 'Phantom of the Opera' world right now,
and we're in, like, a dirty, dingy rock and roll club.
Yeah. You're in my turf now.
Yeah.
Maybe I was made to rock.
It hasn't been me yet. I guess we'll find out.
Let's give it a bash and see how we go.
One. Two. Three.
# Tonight
# I wanna give it all to you... #
I did really notice James's accent today.
His southern twang that he's got going.
# You were made for me... #
# Ooo... #
I could see the terror on Cecily's face
when she saw the lyric sheet.
And then her part was literally ooo, ooo, ooo, ooo.
She is free to improvise there.
Here's your chance to show off.
So, you now have the flexibility within that bit
to be as impressive as you possibly can be.
So, you can do anything you like.
I think I've got to really work on, I don't know, loosening up.
I wanna push myself to show that I can sing more
than just what's written on a page,
and I can come up
with my own stuff as well.
James, you're gonna have to find a way
to live inside that opening verse...
Yeah. ..and make us believe it.
Sure.
I feel like you've got a kind of like,
is it a Southern American twang thing going on?
I guess so. Yeah, I-I love that stuff.
So, yeah. Yeah.
What I'd ask you to consider. Yes.
Just dialling back the accent a little bit.
OK. Sure. Yeah.
It'll feel more real to us. For sure.
I just want it to be as raw and emotional as possible.
Great, yeah.
And then you can do the full rock on stuff like that.
Yeah, sure. Yeah.
That's just how I naturally sing.
I think it comes from all the songs
that I've grown up listening to
and playing southern music,
but hopefully I can find
the fragility that she kept talking about.
I believe in you. Alright.
Oh, my gosh. You got this.
Yes.
I've set these guys a massive challenge
to really stretch what they can do as artists
and not to just fall back on their old tricks.
Whoever is prepared to go deep, do the work and push themselves
further than they've ever
been pushed before.
That's the artist
that's gonna win the Battle.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# Tonight
# I want to give it all to you
# In the darkness
# There's so much I wanna do
# And tonight
# I'm gonna lay it at your feet
# Cause girl, I was made for you
# Yeah, girl you were made for me
# Ooo, ooo, ooo
# Ooo ooo
# I was loving you, baby
# You were made for loving me
# And I can't get it nothing
# Baby, can you get it back to me? #
# I was made for loving you, baby
# You were made for loving me
# And I can't get Enough of you, baby
# Can't you get enough of me. #
# Tonight
# I want to give it all to you
# In the darkness
# So much I want to do. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Wow, what a combo.
And what a way to kick off the Battle rounds.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Kate, we're gonna get you a decision shortly.
But first, Richard,
is there a clear winner of this Battle?
Not clear.
First of all, what an incredible song choice.
And I got to brag,
because one of my dearest friends in the world, Paul Stanley,
wrote that song.
And he would be...
he would have given you guys a standing ovation,
because you guys each separately made it your own.
Oh, my goodness. Thank you, Sir.
Cecily, for you to take that on.
And I know that that's suc a diametrically opposed kind of song
that you would normally do,
and you stepped up to the plate
and smacked it out of the park.
It was...
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Thank you so much.
..it was really, really incredible.
Ronan who came out on top for you.
I agree with Richard.
It was a diagonally symmetrical performance.
What? What? (LAUGHTER)
I also used a baseball reference, which was great here in Australia.
(APPLAUSE)
Great performance, guys.
Kate, great job working these guys up to this, like seriously.
Oh, thank you.
It's so exciting to see the progress from the Blinds to-to the Battles.
And, Cecily, I can really hear all of the different flavours
that you know already you've learned from Kate,
which is so cool.
James, you're a... you're a...you're a star.
You've got just enough guts, you know.
You just, you know... Swagger.
Yeah, you got it. You know, when to push it.
You know, when to use it. You know, when to hold back.
You know, when to show your heart. It's incredibly tough for Kate.
But if I was choosing, it would be James.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Melanie. Two great artists here.
Who do you think had the edge?
Oh, James and Cecily.
The duo we never knew we needed in our lives.
Oh, my goodness.
Cecily, you know, you-you showcased the amazing voice that you have,
but then you, you know, you slotted into
to the rockier vibe, which is incredible.
And, James, from the minute you opened your mouth,
didn't miss a note.
Thank you.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
I'm so proud of you guys. You've worked so, so hard.
I mean, this song has come so far since our initial mentoring.
It's blown my mind Thank you for all your amazing work.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Thank you. Thank you.
James, the way that we saw your-your more vulnerable side
in those opening verses.
And I-I really do respect to the way that you worked on
stripping back some of that, sort of, Southern American drawl.
For me, that was a bit of a barrier to emotionally connecting with you,
with you, James, as an artist.
And, Cecily, you have so much talent.
You've shown through this process that you're open to anything
and took on board all the notes,
but also made it your own.
The sky's the limit for your career.
Thank you.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Kate. It is decision time.
Who will you be sending through to the Knockouts?
Yeah. Look, this is fairly excruciating.
And you're so different.
(SHOUT)
At the artist I'm taking through tonight...
is...
(SHOUT)
..James.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Congratulations, James.
You are going through to the Knockouts.
How are you feeling?
I was so nervous to sing with Cecily.
She's such an amazing singer.
She knows so much about the Voice and what she can do with hers and,
you know, I yell in bars for a living.
So, you know, to sing with you with something so special.
And I can't believe that we did that.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Thank you.
Congratulations, James.
You have won the Battle
you are going through to the next round.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Give it up one last time for James, everyone.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Now, Cecily, you could still progress
to the Knockouts.
If a coach chooses to use their save.
Coaches, will you use your save and keep Cecily in the competition?
Sad to see her leave, you know. Yeah.
Coaches, time is up. There are no saves there, Cecily.
Put your hands together for Cecily.
Thank you so much. You should be so proud of that.
Absolutely, smashed it. Well done.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Next up on The Voice team Melanie steps into the Battle ring.
Don't go anywhere, Australia.
# This is The Voice. #
# This is The Voice. #
It's quite unnerving looking at those big pictures, isn't it?
Well, hello.
Hi. Hi.
This Battle is between my powerhouse DJ Meg.
Oh, look, we're rocking a little sports love.
Yeah, yeah, we've got a little swagger.
And my rapper, Xaz.
I knew it.
I had a feeling it was gonna be you.
Hey, Mel. Hey, you.
How are you? Good. How are you?
I'm good.
Hi. Hi. I had a feeling.
For me, genre wise,
Meg and Xaz being together made total sense.
And their performances.
They were like, Grammy Award worthy performances.
# Everybody's free to feel good... #
My Blind audition I did a mashup of three '90s house tracks.
And I DJ'd.
Everyone in the place was up dancing.
It was absolutely killer.
# The night I laid my eyes on you. #
And now I am all about Team Mel.
To be honest with you,
if either of you had gone anywhere else,
I would have been really unhappy.
Oh, that was never happening. That would have been.
That was never happening. Genuinely, never happening.
# I'm still that boy... I'm still that boy, come on
# Boy it's Xazzy... #
In my Blind auditions,
I rapped 'Savage' by Megan Thee Stallion.
# Sassy, moody, nasty... #
I really loved the theatrics
that can be added into a rap performance,
so, I feel like I can learn so much of that from Melanie C.
Both of you do something that nobody else
is doing in the show, right?
This is what I'm so excited about this particular Battle.
It is challenging, because this is something
that has never been done before,
but hey, who wants to... who wants to follow?
We wanna lead, right? Yeah.
Exactly. OK.
I've got a great remix of a song everybody knows.
Drumroll.
'Dirty Cash, Money Talks'. Yay! Oh, my god.
Yes, yes, yes! That one is awesome.
That only makes sense. Like, the house music. The rap.
Like, what other song would be like, perfect for this.
Besides that? Yeah.
Meg, I want you to DJ. OK.
I'm excited about DJing again. For sure.
I wanna bring the energy
of the party again to the stage,
and I'm really excited to do that with Xaz this time.
There's a rap in there.
But we have been given clearance
to be able to have eight bars of an original rap.
Oh, no way.
If you're up for the challenge of writing your own rap.
Yeah, definitely. We can do that.
Which is such a-an honour to be able to do that.
Yeah. That's so good. Thank you. Yeah.
Writing my own ra for 'Money Talks' is super exciting,
but it does add a lot of pressure at the same time,
because, obviously,
it's something that the coaches wouldn't have heard before.
So, if they love it, that's great.
But if they don't, it could really set me back.
OK. Should we give it a little go?
One, two, three, four.
# I've got no excuse
# I just want you to use me... #
Meg came out 100mi/h, and I totally get it.
You know, she works in electronic music.
She's got big beats, big bass lines to cut through.
But I feel like with this song, we need to build that.
I want people to wait to really get what they came for.
# Dirty cash, I need you oh
# I'm Dirty Cash The one that you asked for
# I want 'em all The rich and the poor
# Ain't all about But you can't 'scuse it
# The way I'm living I gots to use it. #
Writing is my favourite part of creating music.
I've already started thinking about what I'm gonna do,
and I really wanna mention each coach in the rap
in a really smart way
that's specific and personal to them.
To show the coaches why I deserve to be here.
We're in a really good place.
It sounds already, I just know it's gonna be amazing.
So, homework,
you know, you've got your eight bars to write.
Write that verse, yep.
I've already thought of Richard Marx's one,
what I'm gonna say.
Brilliant.
Meg, I'd like you to maybe to just come in.
Softer? Not necessarily softer.
Let's build to that.
Let's not give everything away straight away.
Do you know what I mean? Don't be too soon.
Yeah.
Mel's mentoring was so good.
She made me kind of alter my approach to it.
Ease into it and let it... let it go places.
If you come in at 100
there's not very many places
that you can go from there.
So, we've got an amazing performance to put on.
Yeah.
But we've both got a really shine in this,
as well as working together as a team.
Yeah.
To win the Battles.
I got to go out there, perform my ass off,
kill my verse
and show the coaches why I deserve to be here.
I feel like
there's a lot more at stake this time around.
It's a Battle. You know, like we're mates.
That's everything.
But I have to remember that
it's a competition and I wanna win it.
It's game on.
That's awesome.
Love it, love it. Love it.
Ha-ha, brilliant. They look great.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# I've no excuse
# I just want you to use me
# Take me and abuse me
# I've no taboo
# I'll make a tree with you
# I'll do anything you want me to
# Because money talks, money talks
# Dirty cash, want you, Dirty cash, need you oh
# Money talks
# Money talks
# Dirty cash I want you
# Dirty cash I need you oh
# Oh, I'm Dirty Cash The one that you asked for
# I'm wanted by The rich and the poor
# More and more, You just can't reject it
# You're the junkie and I inject it
# Into your blood stream It's like a bad dream
# Money's the theme Do you know what I mean
# What I mean
# Bitch I wrote this verse is XAZ
# What I mean is I really, Really want your money
# Like scoopy I'm a loopy For your money B
# I want the money fast I'm on the Sporty Team
# Did you know I've been kicking it with Melanie C
# Did you know that I'm a score And I hit the marks
# I'm just waiting on my Grammy Like Richard Marx
# I'm going to preen Like confident Ronan Keating
# Imma ride this feeling, Kate Miller-Heidke... #
Woo.
# I once had pride, Now, oh, that's behind me
# I want to get rich quick
# I want success And all that comes with it
# Hey, hey, hey
# I'm going to use my s-e-x
# Money talks
# Money what? # Oh, money talks
# Hey, hey # Dirty cash I want you
# Dirty, dirty cash
# Come on y'all
# Money talks # Yeah, money
# I said money talks # It's Xazzy
# Dirty cash I want you
# Dirty cash I need you oh!
# Dirty, dirty cash
# People are lying Come on in the street
# Trying to find somebody to meet
# Who'll get them to the top And get them there fast
# Trying to get that dirty cash
# It doesn't matter, woman or man
# Anyone who'll give them a hand
# Cash money, that green, Cold cash, that's the scene
# So, tell me that you want
# Who want it, we've known it
# Tell me you want that
# Dirty, dirty, dirty cash
# I said tell me that you mean it
# Tell me that you want # Who need it, we breed it.
# Dirty cash I want you all... #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Team Melanie C absolutely sending it.
And you two really lit up the stage tonight.
Everybody got into that performance.
Check out the proof on our Shark fam cam.
Have a look at this.
And this was going on
in the audience.
Xaz, is that your mum?
Yeah, hi, Mum.
Kate. Who took the win?
Oh, god. Well, the energy in this room.
You guys just blew the roof off this place.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Thank you. thank you so much.
Thank you. Thank you so much, Kate. That was so cool.
Even just, like
walking in with your game faces, your shoulders.
It's like. Yeah, these guys mean business.
Yeah, Battle on.
And it was so beautifully curated.
Melanie. Like, amazing song choice. It was perfect for these guys.
You made it.
Personally, I'd go with Xaz
because he's-he's unlike anyone else.
Thank you.
And I think I speak for all of us.
That's the first time I think I've been namechecked in a rap,
so, I loved it.
Wonderful performance.
And when it comes to the performance,
it really was neck and neck for me.
I think it was a dead heat,
but at the end of the day, for me the name of the show is The Voice
and Meg on that performance, yours was out of this world.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Thank you, thank you so much.
Thank you. Richard.
Melanie, you can only put
one of these artists through to the next round.
Oh, I don't think I could have wished
for anything more.
They've worked so hard together.
They've got a beautiful friendship, which I think really came across.
Yeah. Good show.
I love seeing Meg behind the decks.
So much more to think about
than just that incredible vocal that you gave.
We wanted to keep it small and really show that build.
We didn't wanna give them the-the good stuff till the end.
And I... I tend to peak too soon.
It happens.
Xaz, I think, probably the only person in the competition
who's actually written their own part of the song.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
You know, the way you rap.
Your flow, it's very different to how the song is originally,
but you nailed that.
You really sat back in it. Thank you. Thank you.
I'm in that place, aren't I? You are.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
(AUDIENCE SHOUT)
I love you both.
OK. In all honesty, I think the person
that truly shone
incredibly in that performance.
The person who wins that Battle for me...
is Meg.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Congratulations. Thank you.
Meg, you're the winner of the Battle.
Thank you so much.
Having your mentoring and your support
through this process has been so incredible.
I adore this guy.
He's so incredibly talented. Thank you.
He's such a brilliant writer and performer.
To be honest, I wouldn't have wanted to do it with anyone else.
This was so much fun.
The whole experience was just absolutely incredible.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
It's incredible. OK, my love.
Thank you. So good.
Great job. Hold on, Meg.
Xaz still has a chance to be saved.
Coaches.
You could add a new member to your team
by simply using your save button in front of you.
(AUDIENCE SHOUT)
Oh, so hard, so hard.
Come on, Mel.
If anyone can, you can.
Time is up. Unfortunately.
You haven't been saved this time.
But I know we will see Xaz out there again.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
This experience has been so fun.
Honestly, I've loved every second of it.
I wanna thank Mel so much for all the mentoring
and the help that you gave us.
And congratulations to Meg.
She did amazing. Well done. Xaz.
Classy. Nice work.
Well done, mate, good on you.
Put your hands together for Xaz for the last time.
Next.
I really wanna show Richard
that I can win this Battle more than anything.
I think Bianka really wants it.
But I want more.
Team Richard take to the Battle arena.
Yes.
I am so freaking proud of you two.
Plus, more electrifying performances.
If this is where we are at the Battles, where to next?
It's-it's insane.
That was a spiritual experience.
As artists fight to secure their place...
You really do want your cake and eat it too, don't you?
Of course, it's the only way.
..in the Knockouts.
# This is The Voice. #
What key are we in for this?
E.
Here she is.
Hello. Hi, Cait.
So, this Battle is between my country singer, Cait,
and this undiscovered gem of a talent named Bianka.
How do you guys feel about being paired against each other?
I'm excited.
I'm excited. I'm super nervous though.
So, what makes you nervous?
Because she's got... like, she's such an amazing singer.
So, so amazing. Oh, stop it, so are you.
It's nic when you have mutual respect, right?
Yeah.
# I see you next to never... #
For the Blind auditions Cait showed up
and sang my song 'Right Here Waiting',
which was quite a bold move.
# Wherever you go, Whatever you do... #
I was so impressed.
Not just with her voice but her reinterpretation of my song.
# How my heart breaks
# I will be right here
# Waiting for you... #
# I see red, red
# Red... #
Bianka was really quite something.
We were all, sort of, like,
blown away that that voice was coming out of that face,
because she's so young.
But she doesn't sound it. She sounds like a seasoned veteran.
Alright, let's get into it.
Are you guys ready to know what song you're singing?
Yes. Yes.
Well, this is a...
this is a really special choice for me
because it's a song by someone who is iconic in Australia,
but is also a really dear friend of mine, John Farnham.
And it's one of my favourite John Farnham songs
and it's called 'That's Freedom'.
Do you guys know this song? I don't, no.
I know it a bit probably... Yeah. Yeah.
Ah, the song did come out
before I was born.
I do know the song, but obviously, I don't know it super well.
We'll just do it in pieces a little bit, OK.
Yep. Yep.
So, let's do the verse.
When I hit them with this song,
they both had that deer in the headlights look.
I don't think either of them really know the song very well.
I probably need to hear it a little bit first.
# I don't know
# What you want from me... #
So, it's hard for me to mentor them
while I'm teaching them the song.
# Love ought to be... #
Yeah. And the chorus.
# From the mount... # Is that how it goes?
Can you go # From the mountain... #
# From the mountain
# To the valley... #
Bianka.
# One emotion... # Something like that.
# One emotion to deliver
# One... #
You gotta come right in there.
Three, four. # One way... #
They're gonna have to figure out their take on it
so, that it sounds like they own it, and that it's their song
# To share but not to chain... #
And the key to that, I think, is less about the notes
and about convincing the listener
that they're really meaning every word that they're singing.
In the time we have before you perform this,
you're gonna need to know this song
truly like as it's as if it's part of you,
so, that all you're focused on is delivering it in a way
that knocks everybody out and that we believe every word.
This is a really powerful lyric,
so, I really want you to think about
what you're singing and what you're saying.
Live, breathe, eat and sleep this song.
Yep. Can do.
You know, selfishly,
it's John Farnham is not just John Farnham.
He's my friend.
So, I want you guys to do him proud, OK?
I have a lot of work to do before the Battle, I think.
I just really need to knuckle down and learn the song inside and out
and be as confident with it as I can be.
In order for me to win this Battle,
I just need to really find that connection.
Find the reason why I'm singing it.
I'm gonna give this Battle absolutely everything I can.
Otherwise, I will be going home.
And I can't let that happen.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# I don't know what you want from me
# Or what you think
# Love ought to be
# I want something
# That's open and strong As the country
# This road's moving on
# From the mountainto the valley
# From the ocean to the alley
# From the highway to the river
# One emotion to deliver
# One heart
# One way
# One love
# To share but not to chain, That's freedom
# It's a song of the heart A race in the wind
# A light in the dark, That's freedom
# It's a reason to live, And after the rain
# Rekindle the spark, Let freedom ring... #
Oh, come on! Oh.
# All I want is a fast lane to
# Where the road across This plain won't take you
# I want something you understand
# To make us stand proud Has nothing else can
# That's freedom
# It's a song of the heart, A race in the wind
# A light in the dark, That's freedom
# That's a reason to live # To live
# After the rain, rekindle the spark
# That's freedom... #
# It's a measure of trust When love is alive
# Alive # It's tender and tough
# That's freedom
# It's what love is about
# Let's open it upand let it out
# That's freedom. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Taking on an Aussie classic.
Yes! Yes!
Rich... look at your coach.
I am so freaking proud of you two.
Thank you. Thank you so much.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
We'll get Richard's decision in a second.
But, Ronan, what did you think of that performance?
Wow.
I mean, firstly. Song choice.
Well, risky as hell. The biggest voice.
Not just in this country, but on the planet.
We all love John Farnham. And that song is just unbelievable.
Cait, you're so anchored on stage. You're so confident.
It-it looks effortless to you.
Thank you. It really is.
You have a beautiful voice. Gorgeous tone.
But, Bianka, when you sing, it's otherworldly.
It's just so magnificent.
So... Thank you so much.
I'd go for Bianka.
Thank you so much.
Two absolute powerhouses.
And you know what I love?
The voices are exquisite and they're huge.
But you never overshadowed each other.
You never took it too far.
And-and I actually. I love you both.
Such a difficult decision.
I think I'd probably maybe base it on just tonally.
I think that would be Cait.
Thank you.
Yeah.
Richard, we know that song is very close to your heart.
Did they deliver it the way you'd hoped?
I wanted to honour him tonight on this show,
and you guys crushed it.
You guys crushed it. Thank you.
Thank you so much. (APPLAUSE)
When I think about where we started,
I-I can't believe how far this has come.
In this performance you both went
from zero to ten based upon where we were.
And you both were individually great.
But even more importantly, when you sang together,
I totally believed it.
It was beautiful.
It was really a beautiful thing to...to...to witness.
Ah, you're stalling. You're stalling.
Yep. This is really, really hard.
We will need a decision, Richard.
Who has won that Battle for you?
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
(AUDIENCE SHOUT)
I have to base this decision on that particular performance,
and I have to think about going forward.
So, with that in mind.
The artist who won this Battle is...
Bianka.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Bianka, you won the Battle.
You're going through to the next round, to the Knockouts.
It means the absolute world to me.
As you guys all know, I'm only 16 years old
and it's just amazing to be up here
and to show Australia that
it doesn't matter how old you are or who you are, you can do it.
So, thank you so much. Well done.
Well said, Bianka, and congratulations.
I'm so proud of you. That was fantastic.
Way to go. Thank you.
Well done.
Oh, damnit. Wow.
Unfortunately, Cait, you have not been saved.
Please give it up for Cait.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
You did so good. So good. I'm so proud of you.
Thank you.
You're gonna... you're gonna just... you're gonna do great
Still to come.
I have never witnessed a performance.
Forget a Battle, a performance like that on The Voice.
The Battle that starts a war.
It's way too soon for you to be going anywhere.
Thank you. It's my turn. You belong here.
I love Ronan, but he failed you.
Whoa.
I can get you all the way to the final.
You really stepped in it, dude.
# This is The Voice. #
Oh! Oh!
No.
I was just checking to make sure it works,
because you haven't used it yet.
Yeah, I'm waiting.
I'm waiting. OK, welcome back.
Welcome back, everyone. Ooft, my heart.
Both of these artists got four chair turns at the Blinds,
and one wasn't even meant to audition
until Kate heard her singing in the audience.
And then Ronan stole.
Hey, ha, ha, ha. Yeah. Exactly.
And I'm working hard on forgiveness.
Oh, really?
While you two work that out. OK.
It's time to see what song Ronan gave his vocal powerhouses,
Alyssa and Ellaphon.
Alright. Let's go.
Alyssa, welcome to the Battles. Thank you.
How are you feeling after your audition?
I mean, that must have been a crazy moment.
You know, it was just a fast experience,
like, I couldn't actually comprehend what was actually happening.
# I lose control... #
I've always wanted to audition.
So, it was a dream come true.
And she was incredible.
I had to have her. I used my ultimate block.
Whoa.
OK.
Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Ellaphon.
Oh! Hey, dude. What's happening?
When I found out that I was versing Alyssa.
I knew this was going to be an epic Battle.
# I'm losing my mind just a little
# Yeah... #
Ellaphon. Ridiculous singer.
Four chair turn. Stunning ovation.
One of the best Blind auditions I've ever had.
# Yeah... #
I fought hard for both of you in the Blinds.
You've got to fight hard for me in the Battles.
I'm excited.
You wanna know what song you're singing?
Yes. Yes. Yes, please.
'Gravity' by John Mayer.
Oh, OK. Yes.
OK. You know, the song, right?
Yeah. I know the song.
I want you to make it your own.
# Gravity
# Is working against me... #
Technically, they both have outstanding voices.
They both have all the vocal tricks.
# Ooo
# Gravity, yeah, Yeah, yeah, yeah... #
And sometimes with all the acrobatics,
it's overkill.
They can over-sing the song.
# Just keep mewhere the light is
# Just keep mewhere the light is
# Yeah... #
Using those moments once or twice in a song.
They blow you away and you go, wow, that was epic.
And then the rest of the song,
you give us the heart and the soul
and the emotion through your vocal.
The thing that I probably am most scared of is,
is both of you over-singing it.
You have this beautiful tone, both of you crazy good singers.
But just sing the song.
Just sometimes you just sing the melody.
The talent between the two of them is insane.
But whoever moves me the most in this performance
will be going through to the Knockouts.
The pressure is seriously on for you guys.
You're the best I've got.
I don't wanna lose either of you.
If I don't stand out in my own way,
I will most definitely be left in the dust by Alyssa.
The challenge is definitely
trying to make it my own,
but trying to stick to the original melody
is also really important.
I wanna win this Battle.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Let's go.
# Gravity
# Is working against me
# Oh, gravity
# Wants to bring me down... #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# Oh, I'll never know
# I'll never know
# What makes this man
# What makes this man
# With all the love
# That is hard his heartcan stand
# Ooo dream away... #
Whoo! Come on.
# Going to throw it all
# Away
# Oooh
# Gravity
# Is working against me now... #
Wow. She's crazy.
# Oh, seen gravity
# Who wants to bring me down
# Just keep me with the light is
# Just keep me where the light is
# Just keep me where the light is
# Just keep me where the light is
# Oooh
# Oh, Gravity
# Is working against me
# Yeah
# Whoa
# Oh, gravity
# Wants to bring me down
# Oh, keep me
# Where the light is shining
# Oh, keep
# Mee
# Where the light is ooo
# Yeah. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
What the...
Whoa!
Alyssa and Ellaphon.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
I have been lucky enough
to be a coach on The Voice all around the world.
I have never witnessed a performance forget a Battle,
a performance like that on The Voice.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
If this is where we are at the Battles,
I mean, where to next?
It's-it's insane. It was brilliant.
Guys, I'm so proud of both of you. It's so amazing.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Good job putting them up against each other, Ronan.
Yeah, great idea, Ronan, well done.
He really stepped in it, dude.
Like, what were you thinking? I know, I know.
I think, there were moments in that performance
when I felt like I was watching, two greats.
Alyssa, just incredible.
It's so natural, your voice, it just flows out of you.
And then Ellaphon it's like
it just comes from the depths of your soul,
and it embodies every part of your body.
It's-it's beautiful to watch as well as to listen to.
If I had to base on this performance we've just seen
I think had I'd be edging towards Ellaphon.
Just...
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Thank you, Mel.
That was a spiritual experience.
I mean, I barely drew breath for that whole thing.
You seem so comfortable on stage.
And you were living and breathing inside that song together.
I think this is such a tough choice, but for me
I-I'll always have a soft spot for Alyssa
because I-I was the one that found her in the crowd.
And I think she's incredible. Jeez.
Thank you. I mean, stop milking it.
Sorry. Fine, you found her.
It's a fact. It's just a fact. She's just reminding you, Ronan.
It is now up to you, Ronan.
Only one of these amazing artists can go through to the Knockouts.
Who's it gonna be?
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
I don't know how I pick.
You have to.
(AUDIENCE SHOUT)
Argh.
Honestly, nobody won and nobody lost.
It was perfect. It was so perfect.
Your harmonies, your energy, your individuality.
It was just your tone. It was gorgeous.
It was brilliant. It was beautiful. It's everything.
Everything I'm looking for.
So, I don't know how I lose one of you.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
The artist that won this Battle...
(TENSE MUSIC)
I can't not have you on my team, is Ellaphon.
Ellaphon, you're going through to the Knockouts.
Congratulations.
Oh, man. Well done. Wow.
One more time for Ellaphon, everyone.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Sadly, Alyssa is now at risk of going home.
I didn't even get to finish!
I can't believe you got in there first.
Oh, my god.
All four coaches have decided to save you.
They all want you to stay in the competition.
Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate.
Thank you.
The power is now in your hands.
So, let's start with Kate.
Here we go. Well, I found you. I've found you in the audience.
Thank you. It's my turn. Thank you.
Yeah, well, here we go. Alyssa.
We belong together. Oh.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
I know it's-it's maybe...
it's gonna be tempting to-to go-go with Ronan.
You know, go with the one that you know.
All I wanna say to you is look where that's got you.
OK?
I'm-I'm ready. I'm here with the safety net.
Ready to catch you.
Nice pitch, Kate.
I can't believe you said that.
Ronan, why should Alyssa stay on your team?
Because you shouldn't go to Team Kate.
Just as simple as that. Just because.
(LAUGHS)
Alyssa, I know how to guide you.
I know what to do with your voice
as a mentor I know how to get you there
and I'll get you all the way to the final on Team Roman.
Alyssa, I love Ronan, but he failed you.
He failed you miserably. I didn't.
I didn't, I was 50 over 50. I had to choose.
I'll tell you why I think you were failed.
When you guys sang together it was magical.
Because it was even.
What was chosen for you to sing on your own,
as opposed to what Ellaphon sang.
I feel like it favoured him in terms of the choice of notes,
the moments for you to stand out,
and a really good coach
and a really good producer knows not to do that.
Interesting.
So, I think that going forward,
you need somebody who's gonna watch out
for you in that way, and that's me.
Interesting, interesting.
Watching that performance tonight.
It was like, it's way too soon for you to be going anywhere.
You belong here.
I haven't got anyone like you in my team.
I feel like it's time for you
to be with a female vocalist as a mentor.
Yes. And I want that to be me.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
The question is,
will you stick with your original coach, Ronan?
Will you move to a new team?
It is a really tough decision. I do love you all.
Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate.
# This is The Voice. #
# This is The Voice. #
(CHEERS)
Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate, Kate.
The question is,
will you stick with your original coach.
Ronan, will you move to a new team?
It is a really tough decision. I do love you all.
But...
I think I'm gonna go with Kate.
Aw.
Congratulations. You are now part of Team Kate.
Wow, amazing thank you so much.
You won't regret it.
You might regret it. You might regret it.
You might regret it.
Well done, well done. I'm very, very proud of you.
Thank you. Well done.
Unbelievable.
Revenge is sweet.
I don't think Kate had a winner on her team.
Now, she does.
Things have been rectified now, and everyone's in their right place.
This Battle
is against Cherie and Lilli.
Cherie and Lilli are my risk takers.
Cherie came out
with her beautiful samba dancing while singing.
# Her lips are devil red
# And her skin Is the colour of mocha... #
# And now all That I want for you... #
And then Lilli coming out doing a Spice Girl song for a Spice Girl.
That is a risk that was worth taking.
For this Battle,
I've chosen Training Season by Dua Lipa.
It's deceptively difficult. It's quite rangy.
You know, there's some real lower notes
and it goes right up in the range.
I felt that both Cherie and Lilli
could really showcase their vocals on this song.
I really want to show Melanie C I can have the stage presence,
but also nail down these vocals.
It is a bit of a hard song. There's a lot of pressure.
Lilli is an incredible performer,
but I have to make sure that I'm better.
Whoever can prove they've got a powerful
and adaptable voice will win this Battle.
Beautiful. Awesome.
They look awesome.
(APPLAUSE)
# Are you
# Someone that I can give my heart to
# Or just the poison That I'm drawn to
# It can be hard to tell The difference late at night
# Play fair
# Is that a compass in your nature
# Or are you tricky
# 'Cause I've been there
# And baby I don't need To learn my lesson twice
# Ooo are you somebody Who can go there
# 'Cause I don't wanna Have to show you
# If that ain't you, Then let me know, yeah
# 'Cause you should know, People want to hold me close... #
# Deeper than I've ever known
# Deeper than I've ever known
# Like a rodeo
# Knows just how to take control
# When I'm vulnerable, He's straight-talking to my soul
# Conversation overload
# Because trainingseason's over
# Training season's ooh
# Training season's ooh
# Training season's over. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
For Cherie and Lilli
training season is definitely over I think.
Look at these amazing outfits.
Guys, you were awesome. The energy was great.
You got the four of us standing up dancing.
That's very rare.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
So, the energy was brilliant. You both channelling Dua Lipa.
It's a duo Dua. Yeah.
Lilli, I think
sometimes you were just trying to force the vocal
and I know why.
You've got 90 seconds to shine.
You have the talent, you have the ability.
Sit back in your vocal a little bit, because when you force it
it's just it seems a little harsh at times.
Um, Cherie, I think you're just born to be on the stage.
It's who you are. You're a performer. I can see that.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
From that performance, I would choose Cherie.
Sorry.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
I actually have to disagree.
For my money. I mean, I... Don't disagree with me.
Just don't.
I-I mean, both of you have magnificent voices,
but I love the-the depth, the roundness,
the, sort of, chocolatey alto-y thing
that you have going on.
Lily, you're both amazing.
But if it were me, I'd be going with Lilli.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Thank you, well, Melanie,
that's what the other coaches thought.
Have you worked out
who you're taking through to the next round?
Well, you've both made it so hard for me.
Gosh, gosh, gosh.
Lilli! Lilli! Lilli!
I'm so proud you've both come so far.
It was really important,
we wanted to bring it back to the vocals, didn't we?
We wanted to clean things up.
You listened. You took everything onboard.
You've literally surpassed my expectations tonight.
It was so good.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
The artist who won this Battle
for me is...
Lilli.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Well done, Lilli. Well done. Wow!
You are progressing to the next round
on Team Melanie C.
Oh, my god.
Thanks so much.
Tears? No, tears. We can't have tears.
This is a happy moment,
you're going through to the next round.
It is, it's happy tears, oh, my god.
Thank you so much for believing in me
and wanting to me go further,
because I love you and I'd love to show you more.
Thank you.
My pleasure.
Put your hands together one more time for Lilli.
Darling. You were brilliant. You were brilliant.
Cherie, no saves for tonight.
But let's make some noise for Cherie.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Well done.
Oh, my love.
Oh, I'm sorry. You were brilliant. You're so good.
Please keep singing. Keep dancing.
Well done, Cherie.
Next up on The Voice, Team Kate step into the Battle ring.
Don't go anywhere, Australia.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# This is The Voice. #
# This is The Voice. #
So, this Battle is between my two true blue Aussies,
Charlie and Brenton.
I grouped Charlie
and Brenton together,
because they both have this beautiful Aussie
salt of the earth character about them.
Oh, yeah.
# Life's going nowhere
# Somebody help me... #
# You take the man out of the city
# Not the city out the man... #
But they're also capable
of being really raw and vulnerable on stage.
# Not the city out the man
# Oh... #
My dad had an accident at work.
Pretty much half his brain is gone forever.
Music.
It's something me and dad can do together.
Play guitar together.
So, the song you'll be singing for your Battle
is 'Fade Into You' by Mazzy Star.
Do you know that song? Love it.
Yeah, I love it too. That's exciting.
Cool, it's like it's a bit of a left field choice.
I love a bit of a left field choice.
You know, it's a female vocalist. It's like an iconic '90s song.
That'll be great. Amazing. Hell, yeah.
And the gist of this song is how beautiful
and also how strange it is to almost evaporate
into another person, that-that, sort of, transformational
feeling of being in love.
It's a very exposed piece of music. There's nowhere to hide as a singer.
You ready to give it a go?
I'm ready. Are you? Sure. Yes, absolutely.
# I wanna hold the hand Inside you... #
This song is deceptively simple.
It's the same melody over and over.
# I look to you To see the truth... #
So, they're going to have to bring
a high level of artistry to keep that compelling for us.
To show us what they can do vocally.
How they can stay connected to the emotion of that song
to transcend the simplicity of it.
# Strange you never knew... #
It's going to be a challenge.
Should we just try the harmony verse?
# You live your life. You live your life. #
Yeah.
# You live your life And go in shadows... #
# In shadows... # Just don't overshoot.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. OK, yeah, yeah. Sorry.
They've both got great voices.
This song is so emotional,
so, whoever can tell that story will win the Battle.
Which one is gonna move me the most?
There is nowhere to hide in this song.
It's delicate and every word
and phrase counts.
I think my emotional side
is gonna be an advantage for me singing this song.
Being able to tell the story
is going to be really crucial
in order to win this Battle.
Going up against such a big powerhouse
voice like Brenton's,
I definitely need to make sure that all the subtleties in my voice
are spot on to impress Kate enough to be her choice moving forward.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
# I wanna hold The hand inside you... #
# I want to take the breath
# That's true... #
So, Aussie, hey? Yeah.
It's great.
# I look to you when I see nothing
# I look to you to see the truth
# You live your life, You go in shadows
# You'll come apart And you'll go blind... #
Nice.
# Some kind of night Into your darkness
# Your darkness
# Colours your eyes With what's not there
# Fade into you
# Whoa
# I think it's strange
# I think it's strange
# You never knew
# Whoa
# Fade into you
# Strange you never knew. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
So much emotion from Brenton and Charlie.
Ronan in your eyes, who stood out the most?
Oh, look. Yeah. Nah. Sucked in.
Um, it was just so Aussie, I loved it.
Brenton, I love your tone, man.
You just. It's... Thanks, man.
Charlie, I mean, you're so dynamic.
You're-you're only in the infancy of your career,
but you've got so much talent and ability.
Thank you very much.
But if I was to choose.
I think Brenton won this Battle.
Yeah, I do. (CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
I have to be honest.
I love that song, but I thought it was an odd song choice
for the two of you,
and it frankly left me cold.
Neither of you really embodied it.
It's such a vibey song,
and I heard all the thinking going on
instead of just surrendering to this beautiful melody.
Like, I wanted to love it and I didn't.
So, that performance didn't really do anything for me.
But if I'm gonna pick, it's Charlie.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Thank you.
Thank you, Richard.
Kate, did you...
did you wanna counter anything that Richard just said?
Look, I mean, I can't help, but agree on some level,
and it's my fault.
And it's tricky in that it's a mid-tempo,
mesmerising song without a big money note
or without a lot of dynamics, actually.
But personally, I love the way you sang it.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Brenton, I love your Aussie accent
when you sing, you do it so effortlessly.
It's really you. You found your sound.
You're a true artist.
Thank you.
(APPLAUSE)
And, Charlie, you have a gift.
You're born communicator,
and you are a channel for that emotion
in a beautiful way.
At times I feel during that performance
you lost contact with that.
And maybe it's nerves. Maybe it's inexperience.
I think that's something tha you would need to work on in future.
Just keeping that that focus on the communication.
This is a nerve-wracking environment so, it is...it's hard
This is the hardest stage you can ever perform on, I think.
I'm so torn about this.
I-I really am so conflicted.
Ultimately, I need to take forward the artists that I think
I can do the most with.
But I think you both have careers in music.
Absolutely. There's no doubt about that.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
The artist who won this Battle is...
Charlie.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Good job, man. 17, but he's won the Battle.
Congratulations, Charlie.
How do you feel?
I feel on top of the world. Really?
Um, this whole experience is mind blowing for me.
Oh, nah, but you were so up for it.
Thank you.
What was it like for you to sing in front of your mum and dad?
Oh, it's-it's really special.
It's just they're always at all my show I play
and any gig it is just, they're always there.
The best support I have.
Aw.
Put your hands together for Charlie everyone.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Well done, mate.
Well done. Good on you.
That was incredible.
So proud. Well done.
(APPLAUSE)
Brenton, I'm afraid your time in the competition is over.
Thank you so much. Put your hands together for Brenton.
Thanks so much. See you guys.
Well done.
It was so lovely to work with you. And I absolutely love your voice.
Thank you. You did such a fantastic job.
Cheers. Appreciate it.
Next...
This is the Battle of the behemoths.
..it's family man versus family member.
Well, I can't let either of you go home.
I don't know what to do.
We do need a decision right now. This is brutal.
I'm so glad I'm not you.
The artist that won this Battle...
Came from the bottom, now I'm the king.
# This is The Voice. #
Mitchell, welcome to the Battles.
Guess you want to know who your bottle partner is?
I'm dying to know.
OK, well, please welcome Chris.
Hey, mate. How are you?
No, way, man.
This is the Battle of the behemoths.
Oh, we're gonna have fun, man.
I put Chris and Mitchell together,
because they're both massive singers.
In Mitchell, what a vocalist.
# These beautiful things
# That I've got, please, say
# I want you, I need you oh, god... #
And Chris. I mean, he's incredible.
# Ain't nobody
# Gonna steal this all away... #
You know, if you don't pick me. There's gonna be family trouble.
If you go anywhere else I'm gonna be so hurt.
I need to fill you in, Mitchell.
You won't have known this, but we are related.
What? Yes.
My wife's cousin.
Yeah. Is Chris's partner.
No, way.
It's a little bit intimidating
that Chris has a personal
connection with Ronan.
It's good to see you, buddy.
I hope he can put that aside
and-and just watch what's on the stage.
But this is a fair Battle. Yeah.
You know, I have my coaches head on,
so, don't be worrying.
OK, alright, alright. Ronan.
He's making it a super fair fight.
Whoever gets the job done makes it through.
OK.
The song that you'll be singing for
your Battle is 'Bed of Roses' by Bon Jovi.
Oh. Aw.
Maybe one of the most epic songs of all time.
Honestly. No pressure.
Jon Bon Jovi. One of the great vocalists.
Those high notes that he could hit in the '80s.
Ooft.
I have put so much pressure on these fellas.
I feel guilty, actually.
So, let's do the first chorus together a cappella.
Mitch, so, you can hear the harmony.
Let's get that right for you. Yep.
Just give him the note.
# I wanna lay you down
# In a bed of roses... #
Oh, shit.
I-I don't think
I've ever had anyone come out and nail it in the first time.
Not like that. Not like that.
Oh, man. This is gonna be something else.
# For the night
# I'll sleep on a bed, I'm not... #
That high C is not in my range.
Chris, anythin you're worried about in this Battle?
Just that, that one note. The high C?
Yeah, the high C. Yeah. Just the high speed.
That note, warm up properly before hand.
Don't reach with your neck when you go for it.
Yeah. So, just stay relax?
Yeah. Keep it down. Don't stretch your vocal cords.
Mitchell. Anything you're worried about?
Um, just the harmonies.
Why would you be worried about the harm...
Listen, man, you just literally a cappella dropped straight in.
Don't let your mind look for the harmony note or the lyrics.
It's there. You know, you know it.
And it's that moment
where you go panicking, looking for it.
Did you go? (GASP)
And then you go in the wrong place.
When you have the talent and the ability.
Have faith in that.
That's really good advice. It's-it's in my brain, I know it.
I just have to rely on that coming out.
I love the energy between the two of you.
I do want you to shine, though, individually as well,
because I have to choose.
Yep.
So, show me you deserve to be here.
Go smash it. Yeah?
It is so, so important
that I win this Battle
and make it through the next round.
If there can only be one winner.
I have to think of my family. I have to think of me first.
And I'm pretty desperate
to win this Battle.
I want to win.
Mitchell, I hope you bring your A game,
because me and my high C are coming.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Come on.
# Sitting here wasted and wounded
# With this old piano. #
Come on, Mitchell.
# Trying hard
# To capture the moment. #
Better.
# This morning I don't know. #
Alright, Chris, let's go.
#'Cause a bottle of vodka's
# Still lodged in my head
# And some blonde gave me nightmares
# And I think She's still in my bed. #
Come on.
# As I dream about movies
# They won't make of me
# When I'm dead. #
# I wanna lay
# You down in a bed of roses. #
# For tonight
# I sleep on a bed of nails. #
Yeah.
# I wanna be. #
# Just as close
# As the Holy Ghost is
# Lay you down
# Ooh
# I wanna lay you down
# In a bed of roses. #
# For tonight. #
Come on.
# I sleep on the bed of nails
# I wanna be. #
# Just as close as
# The Holy Ghost is
# And lay you down
# On a bed of roses. #
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Gentlemen. That was spectacular.
Ronan, I can see that your brain is ticking over here.
Why did you do this to yourself?
I know. This is ridiculous.
Stupid idea. Dude.
I know. This is a tough one.
Amazing, boys. Well done. Proud of you.
Nice work.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Thank you, Ronan.
Stunning.
I always loved the sound of
Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora's voices together.
I forgot all about them during that performance.
Chris, when you start singing, you don't sound like anybody else.
You sound like you.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Thank you.
And that that alone gives you an edge in my ears.
And Mitchell, I was really impressed with you in the Blinds.
I had no idea what you were capable of
until that performance.
Like, you're so much better than I...even I thought you were.
I was...
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
..I was really impressed.
Thank you so much.
You both rocked the crap out of that.
But by a hair I got to go, Chris, on that one.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Melanie, Ronan has a very pained expression on his face,
and I can hear him breathing, which is, sort of, annoying.
Let me...let me just take that in.
Let me just soak that in the pain.
Ronan in pain, that gives me joy. It's awful, it's awful.
It happens a lot.
Thanks, Mel. Goodness me.
I mean, remarkable vocals from both of you.
And, Mitchell, your voice is like,
oh, it's just so warm and beautiful and so commanding.
And then with Chris, I was like, oh, you know,
I, I'm not sure about this song.
I want...I want more soul. Do you know what I mean?
But then when you hit that huge note,
I was like, this boy can rock.
So, I think because Chris surprised me
with where he took it,
I think he would be my Battle winner tonight.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE) Thank you.
I-I'm struggling like, Chris, your tone is so unique.
It's so impressive, what you've been through.
And to get here and to be on this stage.
I'm so proud of you and, Mitchell, you sang with so much heart.
You always do.
The emotion that you bring in the performance.
I totally believe you.
(AUDIENCE SHOUT)
Well, I can't let either of you go home.
I don't know what to do.
I'm so glad I'm not you.
Thank you.
We do need a decision, Ronan.
(AUDIENCE SHOUT)
I have to go on this Battle.
It's the only way I can decide.
The artist that won this Battle...
# This is The Voice. #
We do need a decision, Ronan.
I have to go on this Battle.
It's the only way I can decide.
The artist that won this Battle...
is Mitchell.
(CHEERS AND APPLAUSE)
Oh. Tough choice.
I'm gonna be excommunicated from the family now.
That's me out.
Mitchell, you've won the Battle.
You're going to the Knockouts.
I did not expect that at all.
Wow! I'm over the moon.
Thank you so much, Ronan. Thank you.
Thank you, Mitchell. Great job. Great job.
Well done. Good job, well done.
Put your hands together for Mitchell.
He's going through to the Knockouts.
Well done, mate. That was beautiful.
Totally engaged.
(AUDIENCE SHOUT)
Save, save, save.
You can save him!
I didn't even have to ask.
I see what you're up to. I mean, it was the only way.
You really do wan your cake and eat it too, don't you?
Of course, it's the only way.
So, Ronan, Richard and Melanie have all pressed their save button.
They all want you on their team.
Now, you get to decide because they have to pitch.
The power is in your hands.
Chris, do you want to hear from first?
I'll start with my family member.
Go, go your heart. Ronan. You know, it's fine.
I don't even have to pitch. We're family. It's fine.
He's obviously coming back to me, you know.
No, look, Chris, you know, I love your voice.
Forget-forget our connection.
I had no idea in the Blinds, it was you.
I turned because of your voice.
I love, I love what you can do.
I love how you deliver.
That performance was magical.
It was mesmerising. And I know how far we can go.
I can get you all the way to the final.
So, come back here and I'll get you there.
Chris. Listen, man.
Everybody makes mistakes.
And you clearly made one when you chose Ronan over me.
(LAUGHTER)
The key is to not make the same mistake twice.
I've said it to you from the minute I heard you sing in the Blinds.
I believe that I am the perfect coach for you.
I believe I am.
I don't care what you believe.
Melanie C, why should Chris choose you?
I was so moved in your Blind audition.
And then here tonight you did take my breath away.
But I-I don't believe tha that was the best direction for you.
Genre wise and at Team Melanie C,
I think we could explore things that would really,
truly make you shine beyond anything we've heard yet.
Wow. OK. Three good pitches.
Will you stick with your original coach Ronan?
Or will you move to a new team?
Tell us what you're going to do, Chris.
(AUDIENCE SHOUT)
The coach I will choose...
We need a decision.
Richard!
..is Richard.
In your face.
So, now you're on Team Richard.
He's laughing.
You are going through to the next round, Chris, well done.
Go and celebrate.
Yes.
Celebrate. Commiserate.
Thank you.
Sorry.
It's OK. I'll forgive you, I forgive you.
I think I need to make a call.
Unbelievable. Nasty moves.
Two of Ronan's team have now gone to other coaches.
OK. You have to bring that up as well.
They're fleeing like rats.
I am wedged between two coaches
who have stolen my team members.
This is a terrible place to be.
Maybe you should have coached them better.
Ha, ha. Oh.
Oh, Richard and Ronan, will you ever be friends again?
We weren't friends before.
We were never friends.
