Original subtitles

RICHARD: That was one of

the most extraordinary performances I've seen.

KATE: You're an undiscovered gem.

NARRATOR: There's only two more nights...

MEL C: You have blown my mind.

RONAN: This could be one of the most spectacular moments

in The Voice history.

..of the blind auditions.

And with the teams almost full,

the coaches are feeling the pressure.

I want more women on my team.

And I'd love to hear something unexpected,

maybe something classical.

I think maybe a group that'd be nice.

Or a country singer.

How about you?

Yeah, I've been deejaying for a few years.

My solo music is leaning more towards electronic sound.

Yeah.

So, maybe someone who's more in that world.

Brilliant. Let's go find them. Are you ready?

(UPBEAT MUSIC)

I have one spot left.

I have to be 100% sure when I turn that is the person

I want to take the last place on my team.

With only three spots left,

there's a lot at stake.

I'm waiting to hear singing that really moves me.

With one more to go,

it's got to be special, though.

I've got three spaces left.

I'm waiting for something magic.

We're nearing the end of the blinds.

All of our teams are incredibly strong.

We've got to be picky.

So, we only turn for the great ones.

# This is The Voice. #

(INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC)

My name is Tiffney Reynolds.

I'm from the Yorke Peninsula

and I'm a bank teller.

I think when the people from the bank see me,

they see me as a very professional and maybe...

sweet.

So, when I start singing, they're probably gonna go, "Oh!

"Well, I didn't know that."

When I was younger and in my teens,

I used to sing on little stages,

but nothing even close to this extent.

I used to do, like, country music was my background.

So, I did Tamworth and all that. Oh, yeah.

Then when I had kids and then they were obviously the priority.

Yeah.

And in the last couple of years my husband's like,

"Get back into it, do more music.

"Like, do something for you."

Do you like hearing Mummy sing?

Yeah. She's really good. Is she good?

Yeah. Yeah?

If you're playing a game of footy,

what does your mum sound like on the sideline?

Go get 'em!

If you get a chair turn...

I want to see that. Should we do that?

Yeah. Alright. It's a deal.

Deal? Deal.

# You say now or never... #

I think now's the right time for me to be auditioning.

Because the kids are at a good age, and they can really see that.

It's-it's good for me to do things for myself as well.

Look, I'm not just mum. I'm not just a wife.

This is me. And it's my passion that I love.

And if you want to follow it, you really, you can.

# One step further I am

# Anything you want... #

For my blind audition, I'm singing 'When You're Gone'

by Bryan Adams and Melanie C.

Very risky mov because it's one of Melanie's songs.

I'm feeling butterflies.

I'm feeling nerves.

I'm thinking, "Can I do this?"

# I want it all... #

Then I'm also thinking you deserve this.

You deserve a shot.

Let's do this. You got this.

# I want it all. #

CREW: Artist walking.

Go, Mum!

Go, babe.

Come on. You got this.

Aaw.

# I've been wandering around

# The house all night wondering What the hell to do

# Yeah, I'm trying to concentrate

# But all I can think of is you

# Yeah

# This is torture

# This is pain

# Feels like I'm gonna go insane

# I hope you're coming back Real soon

# 'Cause I don't know what to do

# Baby when you're gone

# I realise I'm in love

# Yeah, days go on and on

# And the night's just seem so long

# Even food don't taste so good

# Drinking too much

# Yeah

# Things just seem so wrong

# Baby when you're gone Baby when you're gone

# When you're gone! #

# I'm in love

# Things just seem so wrong

# Baby when you're gone. #

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Yes, Mum!

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

That's good isn't it?

Hi.

I loved that that was so full of energy.

Well done.

You should give yourself a massive round of applause.

Yes!

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

What? What's your name? Where are you from?

So, my name is Tiffney Reynolds.

I am 34 from Kadina, South Australia,

so a really small town.

And I, like, to be honest, I-I did take a while to turn

because you had a bit of a shaky start.

I don't know if you felt that way yourself?

Definitely. This is a massive thing for me.

My husband and my kids are over there.

And I'm-I'm doing it for them.

I'm teaching them that, you know, if you work really hard,

you can follow your dreams.

And I never thought that I would turn a chair, so thank you.

Hell yeah, right on. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

That's incredible.

What do you think, kids? You're proud of your mum?

Yeah. Yeah, you should be.

You should be.

God, that's-that's so lovely to hear.

My-my son tells me my singing makes his ears cry.

Same. So, that's a bit rough.

Yeah, get it. Get it. Yeah.

Look, as you went along and you got more and more confident

and you started to feel more grounded.

I was just so compelled by that vocal.

It's this tone that goes straight to the pleasure nodes in my brain,

and I'm just completely transported.

And you did that for me.

You did that for all of us.

Thank you. Thank you.

As soon as the chairs all turned and the song stopped,

your little boy burst into tears.

And it's really got me.

I'm just watching him over here, and he's so proud of you.

It's so powerful.

Honestly, it's-it's gorgeous.

I'm really, really searching

for a female country star to-to join Team Ronan.

And I do believe Australia needs a great female country star.

So, come on, Tiffney,

come on over here to team Ronan, please.

Come on. I turned first.

That is true.

He...he...he always turns first, by the way.

That's cold.

I hear some banter going on here. I love it.

Yeah, look the banter will begin.

I spend a lot of time here in Australia.

I will be here. I will be here to nurture you.

My wife's Australian. His wife is Australia, we know.

My wife's an Aussie.

My kids have Australian passports. Oh, yeah.

Similar ages.

It was really, really fun.

And what I heard in your singing is I heard the rock,

but I heard country.

And I love that hybrid.

And I think you could pull both of those things up.

I have a pretty good history

as a songwriter and producer in the country world,

and I've co-written not one, not two,

but three of Keith Urban's biggest hits with him.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

And I feel like my experience

would be the key to you winning this thing.

I'd love to work with you.

Thank you. Well done.

I loved your version of that,

and I've got so many great memories of that song.

It was the first thing I did outside of the Spice Girls,

you know, I was invited by Brian Adams

to come and sing on the track.

I was on tour with the Spice Girls in LA,

and I saw him in a lift and I spoke to him

and he was so lovely and my mum was there

and she's the biggest fan.

So, I asked him to come and say hello to her

and we spent the whole night chatting,

having a drink.

We stayed in touch and then he recorded the song,

but he called me to come and put the vocal on it.

But I actually said yes to this song

before I'd heard it,

which is like the most ridiculous thing to do.

But I knew my mum would kill me if I didn't work with Bryan Adams.

I absolutely loved that performance.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

He would love you.

He would have loved this version of his song

and I would love to have you on my team.

Thank you so much.

But I was just thinking before all the decisions made,

should we go and have a little sing song together?

Oh, yeah. Let's do it.

Let's do it. We all know this song.

Wow. Come on now.

Let's do it together.

Thank you. Oh, my freaking god.

Oh, yeah.

# When you're gone

# I've been wandering around

# The house all night Wondering what the hell to do

# I've been trying to concentrate

# But all I can think of is you

# Yeah

# This is torture

# This is pain

# Feels like I'm gonna go insane

# I hope you're coming back Real soon

# Because I don't know what to do

# Baby, when you're gone

# When you're gone

# Oh, things just seem so wrong

# Yeah, baby, when you're gone. #

Whoo! There you go.

Wowzers! Nice work, Tiffney.

So good.

Well done. Tiffney.

Tiffney. Well done.

Spectacular. Alright.

So, where were we?

I-I just want to say, I mean, your kids are so adorable,

and it's so beautiful that you're doing this for them.

I feel like you're ready.

I feel this next chapter for you is gonna be

so exciting on Team Kate.

See?

You see what she's doing there?

I can. I can see that. I know you can.

I mean, come on. What am I doing?

Pulling at the kid strings.

Giving it all.

That schmoozy, schmoozy, McSchmoozy stuff.

I've got... I meant every word of it.

Are you guys done so she can make a decision?

So, I just have to choose now?

Like is that what happens? It's time.

OK.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Come on.

So-so, I think for me, and knowing that

what I want to do.

I have to go with Team Ronan.

Yes! Yes!

Thank you.

Thank you, Tiffney.

Thank you. Thank you for turning.

Cute. Yes. Awesome.

Thank you so much. Thank you.

Hey, kiddos. Hi.

Hi, guys. How are you doing? How are you?

Oh. How are you, sir?

Good, thanks. Nice to see you. You too.

How proud are you?

Oh, my goodness, you guys broke me.

You probably broke me. You're so proud of your Mummy.

I love you, buddy.

You were amazing. Thank you.

You were amazing.

I am so proud to have her on my team.

See you soon. We got some work to do.

We do. See you soon.

Thank you. Well done. Bye, guys.

Oh, boy. Oh, buddy.

Oh.

Yeah. Very proud. I did it!

Surely this elevates me to cool mum status, right?

Like. Yeah. Hopefully anyway.

Robbed again by Ronan.

Of all people.

Annoying. Very annoying.

And I have to sit next to him.

I do still have a block in play.

I have my ultimate.

I've said I won't use it.

But you know what?

It's the 11th hour.

I've got one space left to fill in my team

if I need that.

I might have to go back on my word.

Tiffney was unbelievable.

Wow, what a star

with this-this beautiful country rock star voice.

I've been waiting for a country music star,

and Tiffney appeared.

That is eight for Team Ronan.

I've only got two spaces left.

Coming up...

To secure their final artist.

Richard and Melanie C will stop at nothing.

I need to pitch hard but you're gonna have to turn around

and watch the screen for this.

I'm gonna have to go against my word.

No, you're not, no, you're not.

No. No, on. You said you'd win.

And later...

I'm going to do something that has never been done

on any Voice stage before.

What?

Oh, my god. What the.

Absolutely (BLEEP).

# This is The Voice. #

I'm Mick on Wheels.

I'm 42 years old

and I'm from the Shoalhaven area down south.

When I was two days old, I contracted meningitis,

which left me paraplegic from the knees down.

And I've been in a wheelchair my whole life.

I don't see it as a barrier at all.

I feel completely comfortable in my own skin.

And also I get to ride around in a really cool wheelchair.

(LAUGHS) There's that too.

I started singing when I was nine years old,

did my first professional gig at 15 and I haven't looked back.

I absolutely love it.

I can't imagine my life without music.

I do what I do

because I like to make people feel something,

and if I can make them feel good and happy and-and enjoy their life,

and that makes me feel amazing when I can do that.

I'm gonna be singing 'Age of Reason'

the John Farnham song.

I am the biggest John Farnham fan,

I reckon, in the country and I love the song.

Look, it's a challenging song.

# Let's go! #

It's a power ballad,

it's a total breath and vocal control

is paramount to be able to nail this song.

This performance, it means a lot to me.

My dream is to be performin in bigger settings to larger crowds.

I've got to turn a chair.

This needs to happen.

My career needs to take that next step.

Ah.

# From the day that we were born

# We've been heading down the track

# Sometimes it's made for good

# Sometimes for bad

# And if we look behind us

# There's a wave coming down

# Carrying us forward to a new age

# What about the world around us

# How can we bare to see?

# And now that our fathers are gone

# We'll be there to carry on

# What about age?

# What about the world?

# And now that our fathers are gone

# We'll be there to care for yours

# What about the age of reason? #

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Ah.

Hey, man.

Hey.

What's your name? What's your story?

Hey, my name is Mick on Wheels, and I'm 42 years old.

And I'm from the Shoalhaven down the south coast.

Whoa.

And so how long have you been singing for you?

You sound like you've done this before, right?

I've been in the business for 28 years now.

Wow.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Where do you normally sing?

I perform, like, all over the country, everywhere.

I travel with my duo and my band.

I've been doing it for a long time, and as a singer,

I like to give that positive influence to people

and make changes in people's lives.

Sort of influence people. Yeah.

Help them to feel very, you know, very good about themselves

because, you know, there's lots of people

out there that don't.

And I'm a...

I want to be that positive light for people.

Yeah. Well, sad.

Beautiful.

That is awesome.

I think you've got a gorgeous tone.

The reason I didn't turn my chair was

I just heard a few wobbles

on those higher notes and just a little bit of strain,

which happens to the best of us.

And this stage is intimidating.

But I think you're a great musician and great singer.

No worries. Thank you. Thank you.

Cheers, thank you for that.

Thank you.

28 years you've been out playing and gigging.

Yeah. Yeah.

So, how come no you've decided to come on The Voice?

I love this show.

And do you know what?

I'm at that point

where my team is getting really full up.

So, I'm-I'm being super, super picky.

But I really enjoyed your performance.

I think you're brilliant.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

Hey, Mick on Wheels.

How you going?

I have a feeling you and I have something in common.

We do.

That we're both huge John Farnham fans.

Yeah.

I remember I was, I guess I was 22

when 'Whispering Jack' came out and I remember thinking,

I think that's maybe the greatest voice

I've ever heard in my life.

And I became this sort of huge fanboy of John.

I ended up touring in Australia

about a year, a year and a half after that.

There was a knock at the door and it was John Farnham at my show,

and we ended up becoming friends and writing together.

The thing about John is his dynamics.

And I wanted to hear more dynamics.

For a competition like this

I think you got to show different kinds of colours.

That said, you have the instrument, man.

You have such power and love for it.

I feel inspired

just listening to you sing and especially meeting you now.

I just wish you nothing but the best.

Thank you. Thank you so much.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

In terms of disappointment, yeah, maybe slightly,

but I got to sing for the audience

that were there and they were fantastic.

And I got to perform for the wonderful coaches.

I feel great.

I wrote a song for John Farnham

on the Chain Reaction, I think.

And when he played me that song at my house

and I was speechless.

And when he does it live, he's even better.

Oh, he is so good. Right?

Boy, wow, wow.

Calls me Skid.

Think about it.

Skid marks.

"How you doing, Skid?"

I love it.

Hi, I'm Meg, and this is my interview for The Voice.

Growing up, I came from a very musical family.

My dad is a muso.

My brothers are musicians.

When we were very young,

my brothers and I had a band together.

We're about to be signed on a record deal,

and then I went and got myself pregnant.

I was 17.

It was scary, a scary time.

I mean, I was a baby myself.

My daughter means everything to me.

And obviously, I wanted to put her first.

# Don't you know you're so

# Beautiful. #

She's full grown now.

She's gonna be 24.

# 'Cause it's time... #

So, I feel like I have a lot more freedom now to do,

you know, what I'm really passionate about,

which is music.

I'm very, very proud of you.

As I've gotten older, I've just gained so much respect.

Like working three jobs.

Still doing your music.

Following that, getting here.

It's just really.

Oh, my god, I love you.

(UPBEAT MUSIC)

For my audition.

I'm going to do something that has never been done

on any Voice stage before.

It's scary.

A lot could go wrong,

but I really feel like now

is the time for me to take a big risk

and put myself out there.

It's now or never.

# Now or never... #

(CHEERS)

Love you!

Whoo! Go!

Whoo!

# This is The Voice. #

# This is The Voice. #

CREW: Artist walking.

Whoo!

(CHEERS)

# Brothers and sisters

# Together we'll make it Through... #

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Oh, yes.

# Someday your spirits will lift you

# And take you there... #

Good voice.

# Everybody's free

# To feel good... #

Whoa!

# Everybody's free... # Wow!

Oh, yeah.

# To feel good... # Yeah.

# Oh, yeah... Yeah!

Whoo!

# What do you want? I... #

Alright.

# Do you want it right now?

# Oh, I can't let go

# Do you want oh, I want your soul... #

Yeah, come on! # Do you want it right now? #

# 'Cause I can't let go

# I can't let go. #

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

# The night I laid my eyes on you

# Everything around me move

# Then your love, Well, its moved right in

# Well, everybody, mi amore, Don't you know

# My love, I want you so... #

Come on.

# Sugar, you make my soul complete, So sweet

# Yeah

# Everybody's free yeah, To feel good

# Whoa!

# Everybody's free

# Yeah. #

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Yes!

Whoa! Wow.

Wow.

Wow.

So cool.

Hi. Hi.

What's your name? Where have you come from?

I am Meg, I'm 43. I'm from Sydney.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Wow.

Meg. Meg.

I feel like I've manifested you.

Right?

I'm at this point right now I have one space left in my team.

I've got a great team.

It's super diverse, but I don't have anything like you.

We haven't seen anything like you.

Yes.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Thank you.

We-we haven't partied that hard, have we on the show?

Not yet. No, not, never.

Never.

Apologise for the 90 seconds of Dad dancing.

But I had to get up there.

Hey, I was right there with you, bro.

Yeah, yeah, I mean...

You see that' what's so brilliant about this show,

because we've had literally every genre you could imagine.

But this music, right now, it's in the forefront of

what's happening all over the world.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

It's like, you know, it's like, it's huge.

Like, DJs now are rock stars.

You know, I've started doing a bit of DJing,

have been out there for a few years,

so this really excites me.

I feel like we could have a lot of fun

going through some old tunes,

having a little workout what would work together.

You know, you've got so much to offer

and I think we're a really good fit.

Thank you, Melanie.

My question is, did you sing and then

become a DJ or did you DJ and then...

Singer first.

Singer first, I can tell.

Yeah, so um yeah, I've been I come from a very musical family

who are all supporting me here today,

including my-my daughter Lavinia.

So, very proud Mum.

I'm very, very, very happy to have her here.

So, yeah.

The thing that really impressed me

it's almost like you were fixing plumbing

while you were singing.

You know, like.

And I thought, how was she nailing every note as a singer

while she's doing all this?

It was so impressive. Oh, thank you so much.

I was just blown away. Thank you.

But as impressive as that was, this is The Voice.

And you deserve to be standing there

because of your voice alone.

Your singing is beautiful. Thank you.

It's incredible. Your voice is gorgeous.

Thank you. Really well done.

I don't know anything about DJing,

but I do know about vocals.

And I loved how full your sound is.

And I also love how-how musical that performance was.

You know how you drew us in.

You seduced us at the beginning.

Every single phrase was meticulous.

I thought that was magnificent singing.

And the DJ thing is so cool.

Just adds this extra layer of joy and fun on top of it all.

I-I can't wait to work with you on Team Kate.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

So, Meg, you're incredibly unique.

You don't see a lot of this

where people can sing this good and DJ and,

you know, look like you.

You look great.

You look like a star already, you know?

Thank you.

So...

Yes, she does!

It's really, really exciting.

And I know you've got a good fit

down the end here with the Spice Girl.

But come on, come on.

You know, an old '90s boy band member

is not a bad thing either.

So, yeah. Come on. It's true.

Yeah.

Yeah. Spoilt for choice.

I would be really, really excited to have you on-on my team.

I've only got two spaces left.

My team is hot, like I'm, yeah,

I think they all agree I've got the strongest team.

So, I think, you know.

I think, Meg, you want to be on Team Ronan.

This is the place to be.

Alright. Right here. Right here.

Yeah, right.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

So, Meg, it's the moment of truth.

Now... Oh.

Meg, before you make a very difficult decision,

coaches, you know that I love you.

Yeah, I love you all dearly. Yeah.

I respect you, and honestly, you-you can't go wrong in this room

'cause everybody has something very special to offer.

I'm not one to blow my own trumpet,

but really, I do think there's only one place you can go,

so I'm gonna have to go against...

No, you're not, no, you're not. ..my word.

No, you're not. You said you wouldn't. No!

Oh, no. No, no!

No, no, no, no, no, no! You said you wouldn't!

No!

Wow.

There's no way I'm taking that chance.

Absolutely no way.

I hope that you're happy with that.

Thank you so much.

I do apologise. Oh, my gosh.

Can I hug you?

Wow. I'm such a big fan.

Liar, liar, pants on fire.

Never thought a Spice Girl would do that to me.

There's no way I was letting you go anywhere else.

Thank you so much.

Oh, my god. Absolutely.

Sorry. I love you guys too. Sorry.

Well done. Well done.

Spice Girls!

What shameless lying.

Can't believe it.

I should have known better. Wow.

Absolutely shameless. Yeah.

Mel's team is full.

Oh, my god! Yeah, Mel's completed her team.

She's done. Wow.

Yeah. She's a spectator now.

Is she coming back?

She'll come back, but she'll sit it out now.

She'll just be sitting there having a martini.

Yeah.

I hope I close out my team next.

Aah!

Oh, my god.

Um, hi. Everyone, this is Melanie.

Hello. How are you?

Listen, you guys celebrate.

So, lovely to meet you all, and I can't wait.

Thank you so much. To start working together.

See you later. Bye.

Bye. Bye.

Aw.

I'm feeling beyond proud.

Aw.

And inspired.

Aw, I love you.

I love you guys so much. Thank you.

It was like watching my little girl

suddenly have all her dreams come true.

Dad, that's so cute.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

I don't... No, no, no, no, no. No.

Oh, look it's Liar Spice.

Don't you come wandering in here thinking everything's gonna be OK.

My team is full.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Mission accomplished.

But is your heart full?

My heart is bursting.

(UPBEAT MUSIC)

Team Melanie C is so strong.

To be fair, of all the teams, I think mine has the most variety.

We've got big voices.

# I told you so. #

You have so much to offer?

I think we could go all the way.

# When you were young. #

I haven't seen this audience react to anyone

as much as they did to you.

You've got angelic voices.

# I... #

I've even got more of a classical crossover.

Sorry, Kate.

# Ooh... #

Whoo! Yeah!

Kate's not gonna like me for this,

but I'm gonna have to block her.

It's a team of entertainers.

# Come on I'm a savage, yeah

# Classy, bougie, ratchet, yeah

# Sassy, moody, nasty, yeah. #

There's confidence there.

And a great attitude as well.

I see so much potential.

# Yeah. #

# Ooh. #

I think I need someone like you on Team Melanie.

And so much untapped raw talent.

# Hair toss, check my nails

# Baby how you doing

# Ooo, oooh. #

You just embody this, like superstar.

Of all the teams, I think we could be the winners.

While Melanie C's team is full...

# Look how we did it, We're famous... #

..team Richard still has

one artist to go.

# I say the limit is dangerous... #

Team Kate's

on the hunt for three...

and Team Ronan

only has two spots left.

# This is the moment... #

With teams almost full, can these hopeful artists...

I want to be a household name.

This means the world to me.

..turn a chair and secure their spot?

# Gonna be famous. #

# This is The Voice. #

Mel's team is full.

It's incredible that I can sit back and relax.

You got two left.

Two. Two spaces.

Here we go.

This could be the moment.

I've loved musical theatre my whole life.

My name is Cecily De Gooyer,

and I am 17 years old.

And I'm from Victoria.

I grew up on a dairy farm

in a really small town called Korumburra.

We had cows everywhere.

Did I sing to the cows?

Yes.

They got every version of 'My Fair Lady',

'Phantom of the Opera', 'Sound of Music'.

They got everything.

They were my first audience.

# I needed something to believe in

# Way to slow my breathing... #

I was a classically trained singer.

I'm so inspired by Kate Miller-Heidke.

No-one has a voice like Kate's voice.

And the fact that I get to perform in front of Kate

is a dream come true.

The song I'm singing is one of my favourite

musical theatre songs of all time...

'Think of Me' from 'Phantom of the Opera'.

CREW: Artist walking.

It feels a bit risky singing a song like this

to Kate Miller-Heidke,

but I don't try to share that.

I would just feel so much disappointment.

I want it so badly.

Go, Cec!

# Think of me

# Think of me fondly

# When we've said goodbye

# Remember me every so often,

# Promise me you'll try

# On that day... #

Great control.

# That not so distant day

# When you're far away and free

# If you ever find a moment

# Spare a thought for me

# I will spend The fruits of summer fade

# They have the seasons, so do we

# But please promise me

# That sometimes

# You will think

(VOCALISES)

# Ooh

# Oh, of me! #

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Wow.

Whoo!

Awesome.

That was impressive. Oh, it was lovely.

What's your name? Where are you from?

Hi, I'm Cecily. I'm 17 and...

17?

..I'm from Inverloch, Victoria.

Oh. Awesome.

Well, that performance, it was not perfect.

You somehow lost yourself in the...in the a cappella.

So, you ended up, I think, on the wrong note at the end.

Did you feel that?

Yeah, I saw you. And I was like oh!

But I can hear the potential in your voice.

You've got this beautiful, pure soprano tone.

I've been looking for a soprano.

I love sopranos, and I-I honestly feel,

you know, if there's anybody

on this stage qualified to take you

somewhere in this competition, it's not Ronan.

Why is that, exactly?

There's so many reasons. I can't go into them.

Oh, really? Really? Well, let's...

We should talk about them.

I would love to get in there

under the hood and work with you one-on-one.

Oh, my gosh.

Oh, my gosh.

Hi, Cecily. Hi.

You know, my team's full right.

So, I couldn't turn around.

You know like Kate said goodness me not perfect,

a very difficult stage, but boy what potential you have.

It was really wonderful.

Oh. Thank you.

Who are your, like, vocal heroes

or the singers that you look up to?

Um Kate.

Oh. Oh, well, that's just brilliant.

Oh. That's great.

Yeah, that's great, huh?

Well, good luck, Ronan. I'll try. Thanks.

Yeah. Brilliant.

I think I'm just about to waste three minutes of my life.

But I'll do it anyway.

God loves a trier, so I'm gonna give this one a go.

Right, so, I've worked with Andrew Lloyd Webber.

So, I went into the West End for four months.

I did a show. I've been there.

I understand your voice.

I get it, I don't sound like you in any shape or form.

Yes, Kate can sing like that.

And she's the best in the country, hands down.

There's no-one that can come close to you.

Aw.

But you need somebody

who can help you to think outside the box,

away from the way that you've been trained

and with the songs that you've been working on.

And I've got some great ideas for you.

I think we could go very far in this contest

because there's nobody like you in Australia.

Except the Kate.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

OK, where are you gonna go? Kate. Kate!

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Oh, wait. Do I just pick? Kate.

Just pick Kate. (CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Yes!

Congratulations.

That was lovely.

Well done, well done.

Yeah. Good on you.

Did you see that?

She said do I pick now? Kate.

I pick Kate.

It's so cute.

To be fair. Good pitch, my friend.

Yeah. That was a good pitch.

I have to say... Yeah.

..I thought, what is he even doing?

He's not gonna remotely...

And then I was even I was like, wait, she's listening to him?

Yeah.

I'm so proud of you.

I was really not expecting that.

Oh, my god.

You must be so proud. She did an incredible job.

Um. Yes, we're very proud.

Really excellent. Oh, my gosh.

Oh, I'm so excited to work with you.

And I'll see you soon. Bye, Cecily. Thank you.

Oh, my gosh.

I can't believe I've lost another artist to Kate.

What is this witchcraft.

And she fights hard, man.

We've been at loggerheads.

Loggerheads. Not good. Not cool.

She's coming back. Ssh. Can't talk about her.

Again in my face? Sorry, not sorry.

Cecily has the kind of voice that I have been waiting to hear.

I feel like I can do so much with her

because I just deeply understand where she comes from.

So, I have eight on Team Kate.

Two spots left.

Gonna have to make them count.

# This is The Voice. #

# This is The Voice. #

(HIP-HOP MUSIC)

My name is Max Fernandez.

I'm 18 years old

and I want to be the next Hugh Jackman.

I did my first musical as a little boy.

I was about eight years old

and then I have not looked back since then.

My biggest idol has to be Hugh Jackman.

He's an absolute legend.

When he gets on a stage and when he sings,

he just captivates you like he is unreal.

I think that's definitely the direction

I would love to go in.

Be in the moment and enjoy it, take it all in.

Yeah, absolutely.

You know, you always work at this.

This is...this is what you love to do.

Yeah. Yeah.

This is a good step. Good first step for everything.

I'm so glad everyone's here as well.

It's so lovely.

We are so proud of you. We are so proud of you, Max.

Thank you so much.

Chookas.

Auditioning for The Voice means everything to me.

I've never felt more nervous in my life.

This is the moment.

# Slow down

# You crazy child

# You're so ambitious for a juvenile

# And you're so smart

# Tell me why are you still So afraid

# Heeey

# Where's the fire?

# What's the hurry about

# You better cool it off Before you burn it out

# Got so much to do and only

# So many hours in a day

# Heeeey

# And you know That when the truth is told

# You can have it your way

# Or you can just get old, You're gonna kick off

# Before you even get Halfway through

# Oooh

# Why don't you realise, Vienna waits for you

# You

# When will you realise?

# Vienna waits for you. #

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Ah.

Thank you so much.

Hey, man.

Hey, what's your name? Where are you from?

My name is Max Fernandez. I'm 18 years old.

I'm from Sydney, Australia.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE) Alright.

First and foremost, you've arrived at a time

that's really tricky for all of us,

'cause we are almost all booked up with our teams.

I felt like you were trying to do too much.

Vienna is a pretty straight ahead, simple song.

I didn't get a sense that all those trills

and all those riffs were comfortable.

They felt like they were really kind of forced or like

you thought that's what I should do on

The Voice to be impressive.

I felt like you were performing it in a way

that made me think,

I wonder if he's into musical theatre?

Like, tell me about your like, who do you...

Who are your heroes?

Who are your idols?

Like, who do you...who do you want to be?

That kind of thing?

I'm definitely.

I mean, I'm a huge Hugh Jackman fan.

Oh, really? I love Hugh Jackman.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE) Who doesn't?

I definitely he... I aspire to be like him.

He really...

OK, so this is gonna be so name-droppy.

Yeah.

Hugh Jackman is like my brother.

He's one of my closest friends.

He really, he's like, we've been dear friends

for 20 years or something.

He can do anything, right?

He-he is an incredible actor.

He dances, he sings, he hosts...

He can host the Oscars. You know what he can't do?

He can't tell a joke.

What did the rapper say when two houses fell on him?

And the punchline is get off me, Holmes.

Stupid. But I told you the joke.

And he laughed. He thought it was funny.

He calls me like two weeks later,

because, "I was at this cocktail party last night

"and I thought I should tell a joke,

"so I told the joke.

"What did the rapper say when two houses fell on him

"and everybody stopped and looked at me and I said,

"get these homes off me."

So, even Hugh Jackman is bad at something.

Yeah.

But he's a really great person to idolise.

(APPLAUSE)

I didn't turn because it just wasn't on point today.

Richard has covered everything. He's so right.

Pick one thing and do it well.

You have it. It's there.

Find that song and sing it a bit more simple.

Don't try and sing every bloody note in the phone book

Thank you so much.

I actually think this song is great for you.

Go home and keep singing this song.

But set yourself the challenge

of stripping all that extraneous stuff away.

That was the barrier between our emotional connection.

Will you try something?

Absolutely.

Will you just sing a cappella?

# When will you realise

# Vienna waits for you. #

Just that line. Just sing that. Alright.

# When will you realise

# Vienna waits for you. #

Sold. So, beautiful.

That's what you should do.

That's what you should do.

Because I believed every second of that.

Thank you guys so much just for letting me perform for you.

Thank you, Max.

Well done. See you, buddy. Take care.

Hey, Maxi.

Whoo!

I'm feeling really good. I think that was...

It was a disappointing result but it's such great feedback

that I've almost never been given

before, so I'm so happy to have received it,

especially from such big names in this industry.

When he sings like that, I'm like, "I'm in."

I know. Yeah.

I know.

Have you ever heard that expression

when you're washing the windows?

(MAKES SOUND)

I thought you were gonna get Hugh on the phone.

I was like, "Oh, no."

I have one slot left.

And the one thing I'm really looking for still

is that someone who has nuance

and makes me believe what they're singing.

I'm looking for somebody like that.

Up next...

I think I've only really sung behind closed doors before.

In the shower, in my bedroom, in the car.

I love singing, but I don't know if it sounds any good.

# This is The Voice. #

My name is Bella Parnell.

I'm 21 years old

and I'm from Sydney, New South Wales.

(UPBEAT MUSIC)

I'm a student.

I'm studying a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in finance

I love everything about finance,

but I think there's always that itch you have of wanting to see

what else there is out there.

And for me, like that's music.

I love singing, but I don't know if it sounds any good.

Is it true that you're a secret singer?

I mean, you could say that.

So, nobody knows that you sing.

My hairbrush knows.

Oh, you are so brave.

Oh, thank you.

I mean, it's a daunting thing to walk out on.

Yeah. It's terrifying. Yeah.

I'm nervous. Very nervous.

# It's hard to shake The haze of doubt

# When the plans you trusted Don't work out... #

I think I've only really sung behind closed doors before.

In the shower, in my bedroom, in the car.

And I don't know if it's more of a hobby

that I stick to in the shower,

or if I could explore music as a career.

And that's why I'm giving it a go today, I guess.

For someone to hear it and say, "Yes,

it's decent," would be...would be good.

CREW: Artist walking.

I've dreamt about being a singer since I was a little girl.

Having to take that first step and sing in front of people.

It will be the biggest moment of my life.

Come on, be great.

Be great.

Love you.

So proud.

# I've been so many place

# In my life and times... #

This song...

# I've sung a lot of songs

# And I've made some bad rhymes

# I've acted out my life in stages

# With 10,000 people watching

# But we're alone now

# And I'm singing this song to you

# Oh, I love you in a place

# Where there's no space or time

# I love you for my life

# You're a friend of mine

# And when my life is over

# Remember when we were together...

Oh!

# We were alone

# And I was singing This song to you...

Wow.

# Ooh

# We were alone and I was

# Singing this song to you. #

Whoo! (CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Oh. Wow. Wow. Hello.

Hi. I'm Bella. I'm 21.

And I'm from Sydney.

Hi, Bella. Hi, Bella.

21? 21? 21.

Bella, Bella, Bella, Bella, Bella.

Just when I thought I'd heard everything on this show.

Wow.

I don't know how you could sing that song that way at 21.

Wow.

That's one of my favourite songs of all time.

Yeah. Really?

Yeah and done by one of the greatest singers

who ever lived, Donny Hathaway.

I've worshipped Donny Hathaway my whole life.

Donny Hathaway would be proud

to have heard you sing that song that way.

Aw, thank you so much, Richard.

You know, Bella.

It's a song that I find people over sing.

Yeah, it requires power in certain moments,

but it requires wisdom and choices

and you made the most beautiful choices

I think I've ever heard anybody make on that song.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE) Thank you so much.

I'm like taking it all in.

I just can't believe how gifted you are.

I have some really, really amazing singers,

but I don't have anybody like you.

I need to pitch hard for this

because I have my work cut out for me.

I can tell, I can feel.

I'm ready, man. I'm ready. I'm sorry, be afraid. Oh, yeah.

They've got their knives ou and they're sharpening their knives.

And you got to be careful with these people.

But ah, to win The Voice, you need to have versatility.

And one of the things I pride myself on

is in my career and my history.

I have had success and I've worked in every genre

except accordion music maybe, or polka.

I... I've worked in accordion music.

So, I've got that sorted.

Don't worry. Go ahead.

But pop, rock, R&B, country, big ballads,

I feel like I'm really, really the most qualified to take you

to where you need to be to win this.

There's one other thing I feel like is unique about me,

which I would like to point out but you're gonna have to turn around

and watch the screen for this.

Oh. Ooh. Oh, no.

Hey. Richard here.

I'm not sure who this is for yet, but if you're seeing this,

it's for you.

Now, here's the thing.

I've got something that the other three coaches don't have.

It's kind of a secret weapon.

And it's the perfect reason that you should pick me

and go on Team Richard.

And I'm not exactly sure

what they might have that would compare to this.

Aw. Oh, seriously?

OK.

But it ain't a Grammy.

Team Richard.

(LAUGHTER)

I love it. That was good. Bella.

Bella, listen to me when I say this.

You aren't just The Voice worthy.

You are Grammy worthy.

Let's work together. I would love to work with you.

Thank you, Richard. Wow.

His wife's Australian.

Yeah.

My kids have Australian passports.

That's as good as I've got right now.

That's it.

You're exceptional. You're magnificent.

Welcome to The Voice.

Thank you. Thank you.

Thank you. Thank you.

I don't know how a 21-year-old can do that.

I really don't. And Richard's covered all the.

You know, he said it all.

I agree with all of it.

So, why are you talking?

Because I have to at least try.

You know, I was very lucky to be there when Amy Winehouse,

you know, it was right at the start of her career.

Right.

And I remember just the magic, the-the uniqueness.

But just this, the star.

And there were moments there in your performance.

And I'm glad I turned around early enough

because I just it's, you know, Richard was right,

those choices you made were scary.

They're scary that you know what you're doing.

Did...

You did all of that arranged like that was the plan.

You set out those moments, yeah?

Yeah. Oh, my god.

Like, it's crazy.

It was mesmerising. You're incredible.

It was brilliant, right? It was amazing.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE) Thank you so much, Ronan.

Thank you.

Now, I don't have a Grammy,

but I have a lot of Smash Hits awards.

I got best haircuts in 1998.

I got best butt in 2000.

I got most boyfriendable or something like that in-in 1996,

I got good stuff.

And there are some that are shaped like a cup.

We can drink martinis out of them.

I don't know what to say. I'd love you on Team Ronan.

You're amazing. Come over here.

Thank you, Ronan. OK. Thank you.

Thank you. Wow. Wow.

Bella, I mean, from the very first second

you opened your mouth.

You made us believe every single word.

Beautiful. That is special.

That is rare. That is true talent.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE) Thank you so much.

Thank you. And I appreciate.

That. And you're only 21.

So, I mean, have you done much live performing before?

This is my first time.

Oh, my god.

Yes. So...

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

That's insane. What?

One sec, one sec, one sec, one sec.

Oh, my god! Oh, my god!

What the absolute...

That's nuts. Oh, my god! What?

Wow.

Wow.

I mean, on a technical level, your voice to me sounded flawless.

It was a beautifully tasteful rendition.

And I would absolutely love to have you on my team.

Team Kate.

Thank you so much.

Bella, if I could,

I would have turned, without a doubt.

You would have four turns for sure.

That was exquisite.

There is nothing left to do but for you to make your choice.

Thank you, Mel.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

(TENSE MUSIC)

Come on over here. Come on.

Um.

# This is The Voice. #

# This is The Voice. #

Bella, there is nothing left to do

but for you to make your choice.

Thank you, Mel.

Please choose me.

Come on over here. Come on.

Thank you so much. I'm in complete shock.

Um, but I would love to be on Team Richard.

Oh, no! No.

Oh, my god.

You're just so phenomenal.

You are so phenomenal.

I'm so excited.

Thank you, Ronan.

Awesome. That was amazing.

That was magnificent. Well done.

Congratulations.

You're incredible.

Oh, my god! Congratulations.

Good choice.

And you-you were my most boyfriendable how long ago?

I was.

I think that was most boyfriendable in '96.

Right. So, yeah, it's been a while.

It's been a while since I've been boyfriendable.

Hi, guys. Oh, darling, I'm so proud.

I'm so proud of you.

So proud.

Um, wow.

She's never sung like that before? No.

We heard snippets in the shower.

I didn't think it was possible to find somebody like Bella.

And I've got some great singers on my team.

This is just a different league.

This is a different thing altogether.

Oh, my god, I want to write albums for you

and produce you and like.

It's just... All of us were just stunned.

You are a stunning talent.

Thank you so much. That means so much.

What I need you guys to do is promise me

that you will go tonight and celebrate.

We will. We will. Alright.

Amazing. See you soon.

Thank you so much. Thank you so much.

Congratulations. Thank you.

Thank you for picking me. Thank you, Richard.

See you soon. Bye, bye.

Oh, my god.

I feel like I was in a dream.

What the hell just happened?

I'm so proud. And it's just...

It's incredible what just happened.

I couldn't help but cry once you started singing.

And I saw people in the crowd just start to smile and cheer

and just seeing my little baby sister up there.

I was so proud of you.

I'm gonna cry again.

(CHEERING AND APPLAUSE)

Oh, he's back.

Yes, yes, yes.

# My team is full

# My heart is full...

Oh, yeah.

# And my team is full

# And my heart is full. #

I love that.

Well done.

All due respect to the other coaches and the other artists

I think I got the winner

on Team Richard.

I'm gonna go with Team Richard.

Richard. Richard.

Richard. Yes!

I not only have the best quality singers,

but I think I have

the most versatile singers.

# I'm begging

# I'm begging you

# So, put your loving

# Head down, baby. #

Way to blow the blinds wide open.

We have a really great

country singer.

# Walking in Memphis

# I was walking with my feet

# Ten feet off the beat. #

We've got not one,

but two killer rockers.

# Aaah! #

# Baby back in black

# Baby in black. #

You just officially rocked our socks off.

We have a really great male group.

# Ooh. #

We've got these ingenues.

# Aaaah... #

Who can pull you in

with tenderness.

# Ooh. #

You aren't just The Voice worthy.

You are Grammy worthy.

But they knock you out

with their power

and their confidence.

# I see red, red

# Oh, red. #

They are fearless,

and they're willing to take risks

and take chances.

# Oh, it's been a long day. #

With a voice like Joseph's,

anything's possible.

# Change is gonna come. #

Yes!

I think I have some of the best singers

we've ever heard.

My team can kind of do it all.

The winner is on Team Richard.

Oh, you two have both closed your teams.

Oh, what a way to close it out.

Whoa.

It's you and me again.

It's you and me again. I can't believe it.

Again.

My nemesis. Oh, my lord.

It's gonna be a catfight.
