an infant from the distant planet

Krypton, exploded. And Ho disguised as

Clark Kent, wild planet reporter for the

Daily Planet, fights a never-ending

battle for truth, justice, and freedom

with superpowers far beyond those of

ordinary boyhoods. It's Superman,

At the Daily Planet, Superman in the

guise of reporter Clark Kent picks up an

alarming newsflash on the wire service

ticker. Unidentified

flying object heading toward Niagara,

knocking out all radio in its path.

This is a job for Superman.

Meanwhile, at a Nike base near Niagara

Falls, batteries of ground to air

missiles are placed on alert. This is

radar control, Captain. We've spotted the

UFO. Good. Stand by to

fire at this moment.

An alien spacecraft descends into the

atmosphere above the base. Attached to

its belly is the octopod, an electrically

powered weapon of destruction.

We've lost contact! Our radar is out!

We can see it. Batteries one and two.

Fire!

Must get that spaceship.

Caught me with my guard down. Better have

an x-ray look inside.

It's unmanned. Good. Now I can destroy it

without danger to life. Away!

All clear, down to the rocket base, down.

Umm Meanwhile,

unknown to Superman, the still intact

octopod hurtles earthward, flashes

into the Niagara River at the foot of the

falls.

Apparently harmless and inactive until

it is shocked into life by an electric

eel.

As the octopod drains the electricity

from the high-voltage cable, it rapidly

increases in size. At the same time,

its pentacles reach out in all

directions, seeking even greater sources

of power.

Thank you, Superman. Don't know what we'd

have done without you. Oh, you'd have

done-- Uh-oh, power failure.

I'd better investigate that. Up, up,

and away! Seeking the cause of the

blackout, police bring self-powered

searchlights to the bridge. See
