The planet Krypton, birthplace of
Superman, a doomed world, which many
years ago, exploded into thousands of
fragments. One huge chunk of
Krypton was thrown into orbit around
Earth, where now, in a freak one in a
billion accidents, it is struck by a
stray meteor, nudged out of orbit.
and plunges through Earth's atmosphere.
Alerted by astronomers, Superman goes
rocketing up to intercept the falling
object.
Ohh Feel weak. Pains.
Bad meteor. It must be--
Yes. It's kryptonite,
the one substance in the universe which
renders me powerless.
Unseen, the massive chunk plunges to the
ocean floor and cracks open. From
within, a strange form is thrown
clear of the wreckage. Now,
flying at super speed, like Superman, the
weird creature reaches the outskirts of
Metropolis.
No one can stop the creature. Even police
bullets are like pebbles against itseyes.
Now only one force can stop its rampage
of destruction. Superman, the
Man of Steel.
Incredible. He took my
strongest blows.
This calls for super
muscle power.
What's holding you up?
Good shot, old sport.
This will... never do.
Superman! I saw it, but
I can't believe it. Neither can I, Jimmy.
How can there be a creature as strong as
I?It even flies like...
Uh oh.
This has got to be a job for Superman.
Up, up, away!
There you are, safe and sound. That beast
is still on the loose. What'll you do now?
I mean, what can you do?I'm not sure yet,
Jimmy, but I just realized something.
What's that?A creature as strong as
I that can fly like I do,
even has heat vision like mine.
Such a thing must come from...
From your world, Krypton. That's
right. But how?Remember that
chunk of kryptonite that landed in the
sea?Holy mackerel. I
forgot about that.
Well, don't worry, Jimmy. I'll find a way
to lick this somehow. Up,
up, and away!
Ranging out over the countryside,
Superman soon spots his foe. But
now, the Man of Steel attacks with a
different, a daring strategy.
Come on, my fellow Kryptonian.
Let's play Follow the Leader.
Dodging, fainting, fainting.
Superman taunts and flusters the beast.
He forces it to bring the fight to him.
What's the matter?Getting a little punchy?
Ooh Should've zigged when you zagged.
Here I am. What's
the matter?As the battle
rages, the creature's fury increases.
Watch out, Billow!
No more fight left, eh
Upsy-daisy, fellow. We're going on a
long trip. Up, up,
and away! Off
we go to a world in another solar system.
Later, returning to the Daily Planet,
Superman resumes his secret identity of
reporter Clark Kent.
And so, Jimmy, Superman took the beast to
its own private world where it can live
out its days peacefully without harming
anyone. Gosh, Mr. Kent, how
do you always know so much about what
Superman does?That, young
fellow, is for you to figure out.
