okay the core of what we're doing is
this is you and I on the road exploring history
fabulous alright
here what we do we're gonna
we're gonna do a rock paper scissor right now
and if I win
we do this entire trip on horseback and wagons
scissor you've never played rock paper scissor
no I've never played
it's a dumb game rock paper scissor ugh
rock paper scissor ugh
ha ha
my name is Jack Osborne and this is my dad Ozzy
heavy metal god are you ready
Prince of darkness and surprisingly enough history nerd
as the old saying goes like father like son
so my dad and I are doing something
we've always wanted to do
we're hitting the road just the two of us
and a bucket list of places
and things we've only ever read about in books
oh my god this is amazing
all seen on TV and the web
do you have your knife yes
civil days we might need it
there are no roadies no tour buses
what the fuck is this no boundaries
oh
welcome to Ozzy and Jack's world detour
let's rock and roll
alright we are in Virginia
me and my dad are on a bit of a road trip to Jamestown
Jamestown was the first British colony
here in New World in doing research
I found that there were four Osbornes
living in Jamestown or migrated to Jamestown
from Great Britain around 1630
so I kind of
think that we could have maybe had some ancestors there
so that being said
Onward for the British Empire
hello hi Jack
how was your night good good
you told me about this Jamestown thing
but what was interesting to me was
there was suspected cannibalism there well
the Brits sent a bunch of people over
but none of these people had agricultural experience
no one knows how to grow things
and so 80% of the people that first arrived died
and because they weren't getting supplies
and they had a couple brutal winters
and they couldn't grow a lot of things
they ate the farm animals and then the pets
and then each other supposedly
how do you know all this in my mind
you're an amateur historian
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
what's that DNA tests
I got some blood no
we got a spit spit
yep
you're kidding me this will sequence your DNA
and give you a ton of information about you
why are we doing this when I was researching Jamestown
I found that there were four Osbornes at
this is gonna prove it's one of them as horny as me no
it's gonna see if there were any ancestors
this is weird man shut up and spit in it
what do you what do you do
spit in it and fill that line
see the line right there that's a lot of spit man
that's not bad I ain't got
that much spit in my body man
this is what I yeah
this is barbaric isn't it
my mouth is orange did you eat or drink anything
yeah water and coffee
oh might as well stop then
why we can't use it
if you've been eating or drinking anything
within 30 minutes well
well just don't know alright
just snap that
shut that and now let that liquid fall in there
uh you've got
you like hawked a Luigi into that
what the fuck is this spit
it comes out of me I guess Luigi's a DNA
ugh I got spit on my hand
why you got that spice on
for cause I got your spit on my hands
oh my God really
I had your on my hands at one point
yeah right
so we headed out on the road to Jamestown
everywhere you go in Virginia
you literally run into history
my dad has always been fascinated with World War 2
and we had a chance to go to a museum of military tanks
so we were all over that
right now we're gonna go drive the tanks
the World War 2 tanks quite interesting
super interesting the guy actually has the largest
tank collection in America vintage
vintage okay
before we start I just wanna say thanks for coming ha
thanks for having me
I'm Mark how's it going Mark
pleasure Jack
how are you nice to meet you Richard
how's it going one of the pleasure volunteers here
hey nice to meet you
thanks for having us
you guys know a little bit about tanks right
he probably knows a little bit more about this era
of tanks than I do
my love of World War 2
is primarily because I was born in 48
and World War 2 was over in 45
and tanks were used in that kind of battle setting
I think you'd rewrite the battlefield books
hmm
I was watching a thing about towards the end of the war
Hitler's got Porsche to build
it's really massive tank a mouse
it was that big it was absolutely
before it started it could have been 188 tons
oh wow
which country built the first tank
the British get credit for the first tank
how did they get the name tanks
it was a code word
so nobody knew what they were building
because it was done by the Admiralty
that's why we this is called a deck on a tank
these are all naval terms
World War 1
they used to refer to the tanks as landships
it's pretty fascinating though
that the Navy first invented tanks
and called them landships
it's quite interesting so Sherman
US World War 2
everybody built American tanks
locomotive companies car companies
50,000 were made that's also something
that was key to America's success in the war
the fact that multiple manufacturers
were able to make so many of these
that was part of the key to our success in World War 2
we outbuilt them
how many tanks are on the property
about 60 tanks wow
we started as a collection
became a museum
built on the stories of soldiers that served
let's go take a look around at some stuff
it's one of the earliest running Shermans in the world
it's an m41 it's got a radial engine wow
there's no room how many people would be one of them
five men five men
three guys in the turret got your gunner up here
your commander position here
and the loaders on this side
he loads the main gun
and then you got two guys up front
you got a driver co driver's got a bow machine gun
30 caliber Browning
I just feel like a tank is a great way
just to have fingers crushed all the time
oh absolutely
that's like a 35 pound doll yeah
this is a Chaffee tank we use light tanks as well
as the British did during World War 2
you know we could take this out for a spin
if you guys want to absolutely
climb up the side we'll get you up the ladder
we'll get right on top of the thing
so if you want to help hey
let's do it get your dad in the hole first
easy
and you go in the left front hatch okay
you good yep
let's do it find your comfy position Alrighty
you got two sticks yep
left you're gonna pull the left stick toward you
okay to go right
you're gonna pull the right stick toward you okay
in front of your right foot
your gas pedal okay Ozzy
you okay yo
is awesome
oops did I stall it
yeah we stalled it
sorry about that so how did you break the tank
I didn't necessarily break the tank
you think you broke the tank
I don't like that tongue OK
breaking implies can't be repaired
it was working before you got in here okay
so I sold it out big deal
I'm combat testing it combat testing it until it broke
so when you're in battle
what are you gonna say to the Germans
uh hold on Hansen
it's talk amongst yourselves
have a couple of snaps while I'll fix his tank
it's all sold out and I'm gonna go Yaba
we will have snaps while you finish
tank hahaha
might as well take a picture of the tank I broke hahaha
tank breaker hahaha sorry
good to go
alright dad
it's your turn to drive yeah OK
alright alright
we do a little right stick
that's it Jack
we good I'm good
oh dad
move your foot
clutch push the clutch in okay
push your little pedal down push the clutch in
nice job Prince of Tank Breakers hahaha
we should get your dad down here
on our way to Jamestown
my dad and I stopped off in rural Virginia
to live out our personal World War 2 tank fantasies
at the largest private
collection of tanks in the US Jack we good
I'm good but my dad was having a little difficulty
oh dad move your foot clutch
push the clutch in
push the clutch in push the clutch in
ha ha ha ha
there's a rumor going around that I stole the tank
that is complete
but what about when you stole the tank
that was just it was resting let's the tank was resting
yes that's it
you see a little black handle down here to your right
this one right here is a little handle up
just knock your seat down
can you not see the handle here
I can do it alright
keep stand stand up a little bit more I can do it dad
but you wanna guide my hand to the handle
I can't hold you hold on don't sit down
how's that is that better Ozzy
yeah much better
now with my dad's seat adjusted
it was time to see if he could get this 40,000 pound
vehicle into gear
and keep it there
yeah
nothing remotely like driving a car no
you gotta think with the opposite side of your brain
cause this is that way this is it
it's weird yeah
how awesome was that that was good fun
Wanna hear it go bang let's hear it go bang okay
we're gonna prep and go
so what are we firing today
we're gonna fire a 75 millimeter blank
how far will one of these rounds go a few miles wow
alright let's get back
rounds are live
3 2
Jeez help there we go
how was that ooh
that was fun
is it noisy inside there not as bad as it is out there
that was awesome man
pretty good bang in it so where the neighbors
that cannon was like the loudest thing I've ever heard
you must have missed the last Black Sabbath show
hahaha
when you hear that you feel it
oh yeah
honestly they could probably heard that in Mars what
they probably heard that battle on Mars
what exactly
after we had our ears blown out
our journey to Jamestown
continued through historic Virginia
so it's fair to say we're in Civil War country now
are we big time
The Civil War kind of started around here
and ended around here this was like the front line
so I was on the internet last night
yeah and I found this place
that has this famous general's arm
buried here what
and during the Civil War
Stonewall Jackson was a general
he sounds like he was an interior designer
no he was actually one of the most gifted
tactical commanders in US military history
they called him Stonewall Jackson
because he built walls out of stone
well he stopped like in advance
so he was like a stone wall
but he got his arm shot accidentally by his
his own troops and they had to amputate his arm
I mean he built a wall
what did they call him Stonewall one arm Jackson
he probably would have been called that
but he died seven days later oh
Stonewall one arm
dead Jackson
so when Stonewall Jackson died
his soldiers told his wife
hey listen
we know where his arm is
do you want to reunite the arm with his body
and they were deeply religious
and his wife said
was the arm given a proper Christian burial
and they said yes
they want a funeral for his own
uh huh she said
in that case don't disturb the grave
what weird right
no I'm getting an education I need to start more
let's do this let's go find some stone wallage
let's see the slimest grave in history here
give me a hand
I can say oh look handicap entrance
let's see Elwood was a prosperous Virginia farm in 1798
dwelling looked out over the rolling farmland
something to deliver yeah
oh wow look
this is where the battles were all here
oh look
yeah just over there wow
60,000 casualties wow
sad
very cool okay
here here
alright where is this cemetery
it's only a small cemetery
it's only but it's
oh there it is over there
Stonewall Jackson's arm hahaha
here in the Jones family cemetery
lies the remains of Stonewall Jackson's left arm
it's like a monkey poison
mm hmm why did it bury it
yeah let's see
Jackson Chaplin visited the hospital later that morning
as he was leaving Jackson's tent
Lacey saw the general's amputated arm lying outside
just laying on the ground
oh he gathered up the limb
and carried it across the field
to his brother's estate Elwood
and buried it here at the family cemetery
wow he just feels so incomplete in the afterlife
it was an armless hahaha
yeah it was a
it was an armless thing to do
Stonewall's arm high five
with a ways to go before hitting Jamestown
I started to get hungry
but my dad had an appetite for something else
one historical fact that was gnawing on him
about Jamestown
hey I may ask you a question
what caused the cannibalism
like a food the Native Americans
essentially besieged from Jamestown
oh the story of Pocahontas was based at Jamestown
okay oh
chick fil A let's go to chick fil A
let's go to chick fil A what is chick fil a
chick fil a is this like chain restaurant
but it's only chicken oh
I'm not going
absolutely amazing
alright is that where we going
no but we can get it for lunch
sauce and chicken yeah
but it's good
we'll do a spicy chicken deluxe
we'll do an order of nuggets and then a um
regular chick fil a deluxe with no tomato if possible
and an Arnold Palmer lots of lemon
sure thanks
hi hi
thank you look at all that lemon
let's just pull up over here we'll eat over here
oh
just a little chick fil a
while we consume some Ozzy Osbourne with Ozzy Osbourne
do you ever think
you'd be eating in a random parking lot
in Virginia listening to SUP flying high again
ha ha ha ha ha oh we'll find one
before we got to Jamestown
my dad and I wanted to stop at Colonial Williamsburg
I had found out that they had just opened a new gun
range where you could shoot real
working muskets and any opportunity to shoot guns
we were there
they just built a new gun range
and I thought it was gonna just be blanks
and then they're like oh no
we have full lead rounds I must say
I have always wanted to shoot a musket
we have a couple of different firearms
that are really important to Virginia's history
in the 18th century
this is typically a wood block that holds rolled paper
tube for the bullet
the muskets fire at a rate of about 15 seconds a shot
how accurate are they well
the musket itself
is not really meant to be very accurate
so it can hit a man size target
out to around 75 yards or so
how do you fight a war with a gun that just can't
won't hit anything you throw it at them
that may be more accurate
start with a musket these are Flint locks
yeah basically
meaning it's gonna use a Flint
and a spark from the steel to ignite the powder charge
yeah okay
the way this operates is you pull this all the way back
close the pan there will be powder in the pan
the cock will slide forward
strike the hammer the Flint is harder than the steel
so it will actually be shaving pieces of steel off
at a high temperature
which will drop into the pan below
ignite the powder
and set off the larger powder charge inside
wow it's a hand held cannon really
yeah pretty much
it took you five minutes to load
but they
a lot of times they would have loaders and shooters
it might have battlefield must have been
okay hold on
let me load these 13 guns
alright so here's the bet
best of three shots winner takes all
loser has to wear a pointy triangle hat for the day
alright
alright so who's shooting first alright
alright
the range is going hot
pull the cock back
take aim at the target and fire when ready
alright so best of 3 shots
winner takes all
loser has to wear a pointy triangle hat for the day
alright we were on our road trip to Jamestown
and had stopped off at Colonial Williamsburg
where we had an opportunity to fire real
working muskets
take aim at the target and fire when ready
and have a little side back going
you got a dead center
you got a perfect center shot
you see the mop bottle in the middle high five
see
I'm older than you you grew up shooting these things
you've got it again in the center
are you aiming high or low
I'm telling I'm gonna tell you
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha it's a bit she's like
I don't wanna wear that that hat
what the heck okay
hang on a second here
you totally hustled me on that well
I had to see you in that pointy hat
I mean you got a perfect bullseye well
all right range is gonna go hot again
you would have to do this as quick as possible
while getting shot at and other people shooting
close the hammer pull it back to full cock
okay and then take aim and fire
you got it then did you yeah
got one it's so weird to have like clunk
boom versus just firing yeah
apparently
I got it through the seal on the second bottle let's go
get it let's go take a look no
I don't think so I don't think I got did I
one one there
I only got one one one
one two
see what I was doing when I was pulling the trigger
I aimed to that yeah'cause that's what I was doing
I was I was aiming like here
I was aiming here
and I thought the gun was going over there ah
you won the shooting competition
you better be bagging us a Turkey next Thanksgiving
I got more chance of running
running one over with my tank
ha ha hey Yee
oh merry old father
hahaha
the musket range was just outside of the actual town of
Colonial Williamsburg
Colonial Williamsburg is set as if it is 1770
so pre Revolutionary War meaning
it's still meant to feel like it's a British colony
you know they've got the blacksmith
they've got the wig maker
all that kind of stuff the wig maker
yeah
cause I remember everyone used to wear those dumb wigs
why because it was like a sign of prosperity
it's stupid
we had arrived and then left
both our car and the 21st century behind us
do I look like a fine gentleman you look very fine
it's weird to see the English flag flying in in America
oh yeah
this is fake town you're on
it's not a fake this is actually like a working town
it hasn't been built for this
it was just restored to this
it's been restored complete with poop
it's kind of cool beautiful
this is Michael on a shop farmer Susie's call
hello good afternoon
the jars and bottles on the shelves behind me
represent prepared medications
they're made in big batches and stored
and that way it can be dispensed and used immediately
here's a lozenge for heartburn
main ingredient is chalk it's exactly what we use today
do you have opium spectin
we have opium chemicals derived from opium
which include morphine and codeine don't exist
yet was there any drug addicts back then
it would not have been a common occurrence
the expense of opium would prohibit
many people from becoming addicted
the majority of opium would be used to treat
severe diarrhea opium for diarrhea
like it's gonna be the most painful diarrhea ever
if you had a time machine
ha ha ha ha if I could have one wish
a time machine I'd take my stereo back there
and get a case of real bad dysentery
bring an iPod
a stereo and some dysentery and a time machine
you have a great night out hahaha
and so would people come for amputations here
that work would take place in your home
for an amputation
the doctor would come to the house and strap you down
and he would typically have assistance holding you down
you need to be able to hold the body part still enough
so that you can cut accurately
so was it stone cold sober when
when I oh yes
I'm a teetotaler oh yes
no opium no opium
is it for teeth it's actually not for teeth
these are called bone nippers
if you're sawing through a bone and it breaks off
you can leave a jagged piece of bone sticking out
and so
we need to nip that off so that you have a clean bone
to be able to create a stump
to break a bone is incredibly painful
can you imagine someone cutting your leg off right
and then taking out these giant
like pliers
have bones got nerve yes
your bones have feelings
and then just going crank crank
oh I just
I can't oh man
that must have been so painful
wow what's that opium
you're obsessed
I want opium well
we'll give you the opium
after the operation is over with
Colonial America was a lot darker than I thought
I agree thank you very much
you're welcome thank you
have a nice day thank you
do the bone nippers oh
that I can't imagine the pain that would be
hello good day sir
good day to you back in the day
buying a wig was as normal as getting a haircut
so we couldn't leave Williamsburg
without checking out the wig shop
wow lots of wigs
indeed it is my name is Mary
nice to meet you Mary
please to meet you Sir Jack
Jack please to meet you too
well I'll let you know
I don't know if you heard the news
but if you want the best quality wig
what I'm gonna have to do to you
shave your head bald
fortunately I'm never gonna have to worry about wearing
wearing a wig for real cause all she's all my hair
I know I was born to
blessed with such fine hair
I'll get your head shaven
get your block kid made up
you've heard that before block kid
where it comes from
although some of those hairstyles in the 80s
those are pretty wig like Bob
now do you see what I'm doing here
I'm actually wrapping the hairs around tighten it up
slide it right over
and then I'm gonna stitch it onto the base here let
oh yeah why do people wear wigs
because it's fashion oh yeah
and and and we want to imitate our betters
who sets the fashions where you come from
obviously it's men of great prominence politicians
musicians perhaps I mean
you did have some big hair in the 80s
it wasn't that big you're right
it was fucking huge
now would you want to put a wig on your head Jack
sure very good indeed
how we looking very from boy
I look in the part dear say so
you got a club wig on at the moment
there we go most fashionable
can I can I can I take you can put your hat on
can I put my hat on
and I'll let you see what you look like wow
the most handsome Master Jack
I tell you that straight away
and and the big hair got smaller and smaller
and those tips just got frostier and frostier what
it's like Duran Duran and Jerry Seinfeld had a kid
it's called Fashion Jack the 80s was such a dark time
let's get something on for Master O
I think this one's better I think so
I think this one speaks to more
I think you should stand up side by side
he looks like his lordship now ha ha
now do you see that one up right up there
that that white one up there on the big shelf
that one right there that's a macaroni
he's a ladies man that one be right there
now we're talking most fashionable
so I'm not gonna shave you today sir
so you don't have to get a bit nervous
hmm although we could
I think maybe we should shave it yeah
here we go
I'm all yours
oh my God this is amazing
hold your head up sir now you look like this is amazing
quite a ladies man
do you want to see what you look like
yeah I'll show you right here
that's the ladies man's week right there
I dare say it's gonna be costing about at least £10
two acres of land for this one week right here
so my dad and I are finally headed to Jamestown and uh
we're gonna try and solve this mystery
to see if there were actually any Osborns there uh
before we go though
I need my dad to redo his DNA spit test
last time we did it it was mostly coffee in his so uh
we need to get a clean sample
hello hi Jack
hi how you doing
did you sleep good I slept alright
what's going on what are we doing today
Jamestown oh great fabulous
I really was really looking forward to doing that uh
but before we go um
remember the DNA test we did
yeah I need to get you to do another one
because you had coffee 30 minutes before
can't believe I have to spit in this
thing all over again well
it's easier than a piss test
I can I got more piss than spit
alright that should be enough
alright let's get this going
alright we're good to go
I'm gonna send this off it's all weird to me
thousands of people do this
James Turner
I'm really shocked about finding out it's cannibalism
not that I went into cannibalism
you sure about that old Jeffrey Dahmer over there
no I never
ever thought cannibalism was in the United States
I can imagine that
one would only really want to eat someone
if that was the only thing left to eat
to eat someone else
that's crazy right
when his feet stank I think everyone stank back then
that's true I still don't get why you're so obsessed
with cannibalism my options are limited
I'm not eating gluten anymore
and let's not forget it's the other white meat
hahaha
I found online
a bunch of stuff about the Osborns that were there
it begs the question of were we related
and we all are related
all of all the Osborn by one way or the other
I mean they probably were cannibal Osborns
best of both worlds we're both could be happy yes
hi Doctor Kelso
it's Jack and Ozzy Osbourne yeah
we're actually about 5 minutes away
just wanted to make sure that we're still good to go
great they are uh
expecting us okay great
I'm excited'cause this doctor is gonna give us the no
BS assessment
you know it's gonna be like
here's what happened
tell you what I think about Jameson
I keep going on about it
but what's really intriguing to me is that work
cannibalism when you're hungry
you'll eat anything yeah
we're gonna be eating each other ooh
every time go away you take a piece of meat with you
I had arranged for us to meet Doctor William Kelso
the lead archaeologist at Jamestown
I had hoped he could tell us what we wanted to know
about the Osborns in colonial America oh
and cannibalism couldn't forget the cannibalism
here we go let's get a motherfucking Jamestown on
triangle hats this is like
we probably like it yeah
seems like a good place to set up shop right
nice marshy land I must have been
what the fuck was that just up here
I know they must like really
this is the new world wow
look at the obelisk so
this is what I remember reading about Jamestown
back in school
British colonists actually first built Fort James
on a swampy island in Virginia
in 16 o 7
Jamestown was the first permanent settlement
in what would become the United States
the Queen came here yeah
what the fuck did you come here
for this was the birthplace of the British Empire
so captain John Smith
actually LED the way in teaching the colonists
basic survival skills the colonists were lousy farmers
so they depended on the Native Americans for help
Jamestown actually got on its feet
when Pocahontas's husband began harvesting tobacco
to export to Europe
the epic failure of Jamestown was now a boom town
what's this
he's going when the fuck is the boat coming back
I like his boots ha
ha ha ha John Smith
yeah selfie with John Smith
oh I'm getting married
watch out dad
don't light catch fire what
we're walking into a church
don't ignite get the holy water
we need an old priest and a young priest
the exorcist yeah
mother need sucks that smell
this is the found the original found
it must be the original yeah
yeah wow
the original
400 years ago yep
but this must be the first staple in the world
yep Doctor Kelso
how's it going okay
I'm Jack Osborne hi
nice to meet you Jack
nice to meet you nice to meet you
wow thanks for taking the time to meet up with us
so is this the lost well okay
to orient you this is a quarter scale model
so that's the size of what it was
and
this was supposed to have been lost to river erosion
for two and a half centuries
before tobacco farming kick started the economy
Jamestown pretty much perished between 16:09 and 16:10
The winter was absolutely terrible
the Native Americans turned on the settlers
and there was literally nothing to eat
they called it the starving time
and only 60 of the original colonists actually survived
people were cannibalizing
yeah right behind you here uh
is an open cellar that's been reopened by us
and uh
what we found in one of the layers in there was a
a mutilated skull human skull uh
and a severed leg bone wow
turned out to be a 14 year old English girl
there was but was she dead when they were in the castle
yeah she wasn't killed for it
uh you could tell from the forensic
the way the cuts were on the skull
oh that she wasn't moving around
so it was very desperate time
yeah oh that
I mean yeah
I mean
it's one thing to hear about cannibalism at Jamestown
but then when they start telling us
that it was a 14 year old girl
that they ate one thing about eating someone
but she's been dead for a while
and I dug her up oh
so we're walking into an area
that was an expanded part of the fort
and those guys are down in another one of these cellars
that was probably underneath
what was called a blockhouse
so this is totally active
and you guys are pulling out artifacts from here
yes regularly
why don't you come in sure
and get a little closer here
this is Mariana and Dave hi Mariana
hi Dave
real archaeologist found anything lately
yeah a little bit
there's some stuff in the screen there Bill
well this is just what
in the last hour or so
yeah there's a bricks
uh those are probably the first
the earliest bricks in the country
and some Indian pottery
whatever is sort of the fallout of what would
like that trash is our treasure now
is there is there
is there uh
ledgers of names of people who were here
would they maintain yes
not as complete as we would like it
but by the first hundred and four
maybe 80 people named will there any Osborn
is there any way we can actually see a list of names
yeah and we have
we call an archearium it's it's
it's a different sort of museum of archaeology
and if you just go in that direction
you'll get there awesome
thank you very much thank you
after the cannibalism story
I wasn't sure whether I wanted to know the answer
what can you believe a dog
dead bodies up in it it must have been all easy
ha ha
Doctor Kelso arranged for us to get
that's where he lives yeah
that's the rediscovery center
wow before we went to the museum
to see if there were actually any Osborns at Jamestown
Doctor Kelso arranged for us to check out the lab
and the skull of the 14 year old girl
the archaeologists called Jane
hello hello welcome
thank you
ooh
whoa I got all this from here
what I'm really interested in is this cannibalism
they didn't kill them they were already dead
and they dug some people up
that must have been unbelievable
yeah I mean
it's pretty crazy to think that they went from like
300 people down to like 60
it must have been like
an all you can eat buffet down there
what's the story with Jane
the Jane we found in that kitchen cellar
she was consumed during this
that starving time winter of 16
9 and 10 this is her
this is a 3D print of her
these are the first tentative marks on her cranium
but she was dead when they ate her
yes I wonder how they could tell it was
she was dead before they ate her
by the sequence of strike marks
even if you've passed out and you get hit
you will move and so there would be
under microscope yep
you'd see that in the actual cut marks
they rolled her over onto her face
did major cuts on her back with an axe till they cut
why would they eat the head was
it was more flesh on it
the brain actually has the most calories
oh really
so they busted her skull open to eat her brain
oh man
so it it's not my wife's cooking
the crack continued up through the sagittal uh
suture and the coronal suture
and then they also went through her ear with a knife
so that's good to actually open up the the cavity to
to get to the brain is there any record
did they kill her to eat her or was she already died
there are two examples uh
that make it into the historic record
uh one is
they dug up a native Indian after he had died
and consumed him and then in six instances
they mentioned a woman who was powdered
and consumed by her husband
save her head now what does powdered mean
salted oh
oh okay
so you made like jerky out of her
so I could do the wife jerky better than the wife brown
so you'd eat a leg might have a wing or a leg or arm
I kind of think though
that making jerky out of your wife would be better
she was a total jerk
after our look around the lab
we moved on to the Jamestown Museum
hoping to meet the real Jane oh
and any other Osborn who might have been there
or even eaten her
G I J now this is the actual skull look
look at the marks in the neck
yeah
and they whacked you with the oh
it's just so horrible
well here's the names of the original
I know the original hundred and four
any name if there's not any of us
is there any names you can see that we know let's see
oh there's John Smith you know why they're called Smith
well cause they were blacksmiths carpenters
so it was like letting you know what their trade was
so he was a sailor he was a barber bricklayer
bricklayer Mason there's no Osbornes listed on the wall
I'm gonna go check out the bookstore
hey dad look
I just found this genealogy book
and it's got a bunch of stuff about Osbornes in it
John Osborn on February 16th, 1624
John Osborn was living on Jamestown Island
where he headed a household that included his wife
on December 31st
there's a Thomas Osborne
there's more information on him
the George Osborne wow
there's so many lot lot of Osbornes here Kelly Osborne
we should leave her here on June 21st, 16
Bridewell Court decided that George Osborne
who had been sentenced to prison at Middlesex
would be transported overseas
so part of his sentence was he got sentenced to
very interesting
look at that sky
it's like a fire in it fire in the sky you know
of the hundred and four settlers
there weren't any Osbornes but
but later on you know
some Osbornes turned up so I'm just
I'm hoping that maybe those DNA tests we did can
maybe unveil some connection
dad what's up
I got the DNA results what for
oh yeah everything we did yeah
from this the one you had to spit in the jar
the bad news is I know
we were kind of doing this to
see if there was any connection to us and Jamestown
because of there were a lot of Osbornes there
and so far there is nothing
that proves that we had any family members
at Jamestown I found this interesting
now genetically speaking
it says here that um
you have a DNA of a Cannibal Neanderthal tribe
oh great
your arm looks so good so here's a question
would you rather a sweet human or a salty human
I wouldn't fancy any human to eat
you've changed but it's a bat
you'd be all over it a bat again
that bat's had more airplay than me
