trail again Again by Daylight by

daylight they'll be well out of our

reach or anyone else's for that matter

the law to say but I will say this much

I'm going to hold the mayor responsible

for my law I Mr Mayor I got the thief

locked

up Sheriff I found a stolen money why

you everybody stop talking at once now

any more

trouble our whole celebration is ruined

well I wouldn't get too upset about it

your honor I'm sure after he's had a

good night's sleep he'll talk you think

so oh yes he he usually talks in the

morning he'd better this could develop

into a very nasty Affair particularly

when you consider the losses of the

renters in this community you don't seem

upset about your own money well that's

his worry oh Mr Dunning Mr Dunning

please be patient I I assure you

I what goes on here anyway you know

California didn't steal that money of

course he didn't lucky and he'll

probably never forgive me then why did

you let them take him do you know why

they put cheese and rat traps they catch

rats it's

something D he $110,000 of your cash was

in it you don't look like you're worried

much we'll recover the right suitcase

this is Mr California Carlson hi won how

you doing sir would you tell the other

I'll be back later sure but don't you

think you ought to eat something first

no I'll eat later but don't let that

spoil your

[Music]

[Music]

appetite uh this is Benton's mine our

claims a short ways further down mhm you

you have any idea what Benton did with

his gold he never discussed his personal

affairs with me but I suppose it's

stashed away somewhere same as ours is

till we get a chance to take it into

town I

see I think I'll take a look inside I'd

better go with you you might get lost

all

[Music]

[Applause]

right

what that's

Benton that's him all

right how'd he get up

here couldn't walked all the way from

the in you're right about

that but maybe he was already dead when

he left the

[Music]

end what are we going to do Cassidy I

don't no

I can't move him till the sheriff gets

here suppose I get my partner and send

him after the sheriff meantime you and I

can try to pick up the Killer's Trail

all right go ahead and get him I'll wait

here think you'll be safe I think so

just as you say we'll be back as soon as

sure I'm all right this is my partner

Bart Lancing how do you do sir how do

you do you just missed Benton's Killer

by a few minutes he's some place in

there oh then he's gone that mountain is

crisscross with tunnels leading out of

here well why don't we see if we can

pick up his trail that suits me Cassidy

you know I hold no brief for this type

of killer neither do I let's

go after a fruitless search for the

killer hello Mr poter getting a little

fresh air yeah can't stay indoors all

day long my brother Larry Mr Cassidy how

do you do hello Mr Cassy must be nice to

have a brother around to help out well I

don't know about that well doesn't Larry

run the place for uh no I'm I'm only

visiting here Larry's in another line of

business he doesn't like the desert life

is too quiet around here to suit him I

see to The Stables

Larry

[Music]

[Applause]

come

in what are you doing

here I need a room for the night I

thought you and I were through for good

we are but let's not bring that up again

are you going to put me up sure I'll put

you up well Jesse

William well

Cassidy my but it's good to see you what

brings you to this part of the desert

well I Stak out a claim up in the hill

and I just paned dry everybody's getting

rich around here except me and what

could have brought you here happy don't

tell me the gold ones got you too oh you

know me better than that Jesse ranching

is my business friend of mine is

supposed to get married here today yeah

I know to the Benton gal did her uncle

turn up

yet how did you know about that well bad

news travels fast

it wouldn't be the first time a man's

disappeared from here but Benton didn't

just disappear he was killed did you say

kill yeah I found his body in the mine

your room's ready Jesse all right Potter

Face room off the hall thanks for

putting me up don't thank me you're Lu

it was bakon the next morning I went

looking for Jesse

Williams

Jesse Jesse wake up it's time for

breakfast there's nobody in this room Mr

Cassidy well I happen to know difference

Jesse Williams had disappeared and so

had his bag of gold where is Williams he

left early this morning said he was

sorry but he couldn't wait and asked me

to tell you

goodbye I see

[Music]

thanks he Sheriff Thompson and you're

Jeff Potter aren't you that's the name

you're the new circuit Sheriff right I

hear you've been having some trouble a

man by the name of Benton's been killed

and robbed no trouble here Sheriff

Benton's been killed in the mine not in

my place but he's lived here hasn't he

so I'm going to start from here very

well Sheriff the place is yours help

yourself I'm hop along Cy Sheriff maybe

I can help you out thanks know anything

about this Benton Mr Cassidy no not much

but I I can show you where his body is

and I have reason to believe that my

friend Jesse Williams had been killed

too another murder when did that happen

last night maybe you better take me to

to Benton first and we'll see about

Williams later I'm ready Sheriff we'll

go with you Hy no you two stay here and

keep your eyes open and lucky you better

tell Mary about her

uncle

[Music]

[Music]

well well that's a spot where we found

but I'm positive you mean somebody came

in here and moved the corpse well

apparently take this light

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

you all right

cathie you all right Cassy sure I'm all

right Sheriff this is earol Weston how

you do you know Bart laning sure Weston

was with me when I found Benton we saw

you two riding up to the mine but

couldn't make out who you were can't

blame it's for not taking any chances

Sheriff I certainly don't not in a place

where even the Dead Aren't

safe Benton has disappeared what how's

that possible well apparently the same

man that shot at me in the mine came

back and removed the body then what are

we waiting for there's four of us here

to go after him if he's still around we

got everything to gain and nothing to

lose let's

[Music]

go

doesn't accomplish very much today we up

to me I'd keep on trailing that killer

all night well you don't catch a

rattlesnake by rushing head on into it

see you dinner gentlemen

right fine dinner putter well I've had a

long day I'm going to turn in good night

excuse me please night sir good night

night

I'd like to speak to you

[Music]

Sheriff come in

Cassidy what's on your mind is this

going to be your room for the night yes

anything wrong with it no nothing except

the Benton and Williams had it before

you well thanks for the warning but the

killer won't have another chance I know

who he

is you know know who he

is who Potter you mean Jeff no Larry

Potter I know him from Texas he's wanted

there on the same charge murder well you

think he recognized you I'm sure he

didn't when are you going to arrest him

as soon as I get enough evidence to tie

him up with the Benton and Williams

cases yeah but he might weaken and show

his hand before you want him to that's

just what I'm banking

on what about my spending the night here

with you ah don't worry about me I have

a pair of good eyes and ears and my gun

yeah but four eyes and ears are better I

sure appreciate your cooperation but

that would only make Larry suspicious

all right Sheriff I guess you know best

good night sir good

[Music]

night just before getting ready for bed

I heard a strange noise and decided to

investigate

hold it

Larry where's Thompson I don't know what

have you done with him nothing I swear

then what are you doing in this

room

[Music]

wasn't that lurry yeah he'd make it a

getaway keep an eye on Potter I think he

can walk

[Music]

yeah

[Music]

I've been waiting for you Cassidy what

happened to Larry I'm sorry to have to

tell you this Mr Potter Larry was killed

we got there too late to save him how do

I know you're telling the truth maybe

you killed him yourself you don't know

me very well do you so we'll let it go

at that I'm a law abiding citizen and

this is a respectable place what gives

you the right to act as if you were the

law around

here that Mr Potter unless Thompson

shows up I'll continue the search for

him as well as Jesse Williams any

[Music]

objections sure is a funny coincidence

all these happenings in this room it's

more than a coincidence lucky three men

don't disappear from the same room for

no

reason maybe Potter's the reason after

all owns the place that could be a man

doesn't pose as an invalid without a

good reason for doing so how'd you find

that out I found the wheelchair empty

when I went back Potter was in it then

why don't we do something about it I

can't do anything till I catch him

walking who sleeps upstairs Bart

laning come

in I heard you were here my partner and

I are pulling up the stakes Cassidy but

first we're going into town to round up

a posy whether Potter likes it or not

well thanks for letting me know you and

laning go right ahead all right see you

when I get back

right you two stay here and keep an eye

on Potter now I might be going all day

but don't worry about me where are you

going hoppy that

depends it's

catching I'm sorry I was late I save for

something for you Hoy do no thanks I'll

just have a cup of

coffee you have any luck getting the

posy together yes but the men won't get

here until sometime tomorrow I'm sure

glad we'll be gone by them that's what

you'd better do Mr Cassidy if you want

to take my advice can't blame you folks

for the way you feel seems like there's

a curse on this place the only complaint

I have with this place is that I can't

get a good night's rest are you too

crowded where you are no it's uh it's

just that I can't stand California

snoring Poppy I don't snore I just

breathe loud uh well there's still a

vacant room downstairs if you care to

have it not that room hobby well what's

the matter with that well it's a good

idea I'll take it have you gone Roo Pap

you can what is this a bad case of

jitters see what I mean Cassidy next

they tried to make me out of

murderer oh if I still had the use of my

legs all this wouldn't have

happened yeah I've still got two good

hands and if I ever come across the man

that killed my

brother I'm going to use them you won't

have long to wait

Potter the Killer is right in this

room that night soon after I had

[Music]

retired

[Music]

drop that gun

Lancing I've been waiting for

[Music]

you

so that's how you killed those men

suffocated them while they were

asleep all right Cassy you got

me you're smarter than I thought you

were not so smart Lancing I followed you

today you didn't ride into town to round

up a posi you didn't work your claim

either it was easier to get rich on the

other man's work wasn't it you know all

the answers don't you just use a little

Common Sense looks like it didn't use

quite enough Jesse and the sheriff are

waiting close by they're kind of anxious

for you to join them come on Cathy we

haven't got all night get

[Music]

going get down here

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

bad dream why no I

happen to her I'll be back as soon as I

can puppy you ain't going into the yeah

Devil's

Playground it's Hess

midnight I figured that whoever had

wounded the girl might be hiding nearby

and the Devil's Playground seemed the

likeliest place to be begin the

[Music]

search

[Music]

hello there where's the trail out of

here

anyhow

who's that up

there that's uh just

[Applause]

me what's the idea sneaking down on us

you got me wrong mister I wasn't

sneaking down on you I trying to find my

way out of this place where have you

been someone h b i good to see maybe it

was you I guess it was me you heard well

who are you I'm Hong Cassidy and what

are you doing out in the Devil's

Playground at night well I might ask you

the same thing Mr Martin Judge Martin

this is Mr Roberts and this is Mr Wolf

and this is shorty the ever faithful

shorty he was very devoted to my

daughter until until what until I'll she

was oh no we must explain to Mr Cassidy

perhaps he can help us

she she shot herself why would she do

that well she she wasn't exactly herself

lately oh I see what does your daughter

look like well she's a brunette she has

blue eyes she had on a brown divided

skirt oh well I wouldn't worry too much

about her judge she's not badly

hurt you know where she is I think I

found her hurry Mr Cassy you must take

me to her at once boys settle up quick

shorty you stay here and pack up we'll

come back to you later shorty get

[Music]

going just a minute then please Mr

Cassidy Mr Roberts perhaps you'd better

go back and warn shorty to be sure and

put out the

right you are

judge it was early morning when we

reached the line

Shack you want to sleep never Clos nigh

all night not a peep out of her that's

good perhaps You' better let me talk

with her alone first my boy all

right where's California still under the

wind I guess no no there he is out there

tending the

horses

where is she where head her well isn't

she in there no where is she lucky uh I

don't know I was sure she was therey

we've been robbed the G's horse is gone

so a Pam my pants and a shirt a head in

the line why when' you get back well

your daughter must have slipped away

while these men were asleep gosh I'm

sorry hoppy I don't know when I could qu

play acting cowp come on tell us where

she is hold it boys I think they're

telling the truth I think she's tricking

us again judge well that sneaking little

wild cat what does she think she is

anyway double crossing us like this

don't worry about that she'll pay for it

when we catch

her G what kind of talk is that

certainly strange coming from a worried

father what goes on here anyway I don't

know but we're going to find out after a

while we'll ride in and have a talk with

the sheriff and we'll get ready just a

minute you don't mind if I have a couple

of Winks sleep do you after all you two

had some sleep uh

after thinking it over I decided to

notify the nearest Sheriff of my

findings let two Blues py raise your

half a stack sure can I see you on don't

bother me there your Half Stack and I'll

raise your Stacks son I think you're a

bluffing Daniel so I'm just going to

call you what do you

got now what's on your mind I'd like to

see you in your private office this is

private enough for me coming in Daniel

no sir I'm cashing in speak up what's so

important I ran into a judge Morton and

a couple of men called Robertson wolf

and a little fellow judge Morton what's

he doing down here what do you know him

sure he's some solidad old Morton was

the judge that sent curly Evans up for

that solid at bank robbery uh you

remember that don't you Porky yeah never

did find the gold that Curly stole maybe

they're down here looking for it keep

quiet will you they say they're looking

for a girl judge Morton's daughter why

judge Morton never had no daughter you

didn't huh no, a week sherff gosh Dar it

how can a man concentrate with all this

chitter chatter just what do you want I

thought it might be a good idea to bring

those men in and question them listen I

ain't a question anybody on your say so

now get out of here with them crazy

ideas and let me finish my

game maybe the sheriff's right and we

should tend to our own business but that

fell said the girl wasn't Morton's

daughter just like you thought yeah and

what about the golden that uh what's his

name curly Evans I remember hearing

about him a couple of years ago he stole

some gold and HD it away before they

caught him he never told where is he

still in jail I don't know lucky there a

lot of things I don't know for instance

what that little fellow was trying to

tell me last

night hey I forgot about him maybe I can

get to him before the judge

does

[Music]

like we're too late yeah the judge must

have beat us

[Music]

here

[Music]

well we are too late that's a knife

stuck in his

back yeah I saw that knife last night

too you did well who's it belong to

Roberts Roberts that's what the judge

sent him back here for he was afraid the

little fell is going to tell me

something and they killed him to keep

him from talking yeah I guess so poor

little hey what's

this what you make it out be hoppy it's

a map of the Devil's Playground what do

you suppose it's for I'm not sure yet

you boys load him on the horse will

you where are we taking him Hy the

sheriff as soon as I make a copy of this

map after taking care of shorty I set

out following the

map you know this little spot on this

map's been bothering me I wonder hoppy

forget the map that girl's in trouble

we've got to help her yeah I know but we

got to find her first that's kind of

tall order ain't it not knowing where

she's gone may be but I've got an idea

she's heading for the same little spot

and that's where we're heading what if

we meet up with a posy that's out

looking for the gal I don't think they'd

be looking where we're

[Applause]

[Music]

going according to this map we turn left

right here look

[Music]

hoppy she certainly makes it tough to

try to help her doesn't

[Applause]

[Music]

she

[Music]

let me take her off oh

[Music]

[Applause]

ahead

take it easy

[Applause]

Miss I hope he didn't hurt your arm miss

her arm's all

right we had a message to help you

message from whom shorty where is

he I hate to tell you miss Shorty's dead

Robert stabbed

him well you might try trusting

us can I trust you well if you don't I'm

afraid we're not going to be able to

help

you now why don't you tell me what this

is all

about how much do you know already well

I'm not sure of anything but I suspect

you're not judge Morton's daughter no

and I think you know where curly Evans

hid the solidad gold yes that's

right why did Morton try to kill

you because I have the only map showing

where the gold is hidden and Morton

wants the gold for himself that's a

tough spot for a gal to be in not as bad

as it sounds I

have I had

shorty he used to guard me in my

cradle well he died for

me has Morton ever seen that M nobody

has except shorty when I knew Morton was

after it I told shorty in case something

happened to me yeah and right now

they're in Hoppy's P that's all right

lucky then you will help me we won't

leave you until you're safe and sound in

the sheriff's hands but I don't want to

go to the sheriff but he's the law here

he's the one to handle this that's what

I thought about Judge Morton but I was

wrong and Curley was right that much

gold will tempt any man not us no we'll

help you bring it out we oh no we won't

that has to be brought out legally it

belongs to the bank and solidad I Was a

Fool to trust

you what is your connection with curly

Evans figure it out for

yourself

I finally convinced the girl that I was

her friend and we set out to follow the

map

together it seemed as though judge

Morton and his men had some ideas of

their own come

[Music]

on

look that looks like that girl in them

Cowboys they're probably heading for

that

[Music]

gold

hey hey there you go I sent California

off at an angle as a

[Music]

decoy Alex SW at the

bait

somebody must have beat us to it judge

Morton I don't think so but I'll

investigate lucky you stay here and keep

your eyes

[Music]

open

[Music]

Carly

car what are you doing hey where are but

it's me how did you get out of jail I

broke out but Cy why because I was

tipped off that you were coming here to

get the gold of course I was to get your

sentence cut and what are those men

doing with you they're here to help us

help us please won't you trust me I

don't trust anybody I've taken this gold

myself I've got to make make sure it

gets back to its rightful owners curly

Morton and his men will be here any

minute that's all right with me I've got

plenty of ammunition and I'll plug the

first man that comes near this

cave I'm going to him curently I'm

coming

in all right come on mello's friends of

yours not to try any

[Music]

tricks did he believe we're your friends

no he's half dead and hunger and thirst

his lips are bleeding I've got to get

him some

[Music]

water wait a minute I hate to ask you to

do this but there's only one way we can

get him out of there alive will you

trust me and do as I say poy I'll do

anything good walk into the

cave stop

there curly she has the water but she's

not bringing it into to you you're

coming out after it with your hands

up there's probably no water in that

canteen anyway yes there is sh him this

pour

[Music]

[Applause]

[Music]

it

[Music]

[Applause]

poy

what sure glad you P Happ I've been gone

around in circles where's Martin and

these men well I pull them for a while

but they get wise they headed back on

the trail oh we better get out of here

and quick give me a hand with this gold

sure gold gold we got

it we headed back to the line Shack with

curly in the

gold the judge and these men were not

long in picking up our

Trail

California you un lucky get that gold

into the G

[Music]

any of you live and take chances on

being exposed judge the Shack's on fire

hands up drop that gun

I'm surprised that you losing your head

judge what do you mean forgetting that

gold coins don't

burn next time I won't miss get the guns

blankets happy it's D and the US

Marshal the sheriff had notified the US

Marshal after

[Applause]

all well I see they finally caught

up with you curly

Evans so you broke jail H yes he did

Marshall but for only one reason return

that goalie stoles in the bank and solid

bad I see well curle you've made one

step in the right direction you'll have

to go back to jail of course but I have

an idea you'll get time off your

sentence for trying to return stolen

property all right boys let's make a

move I don't know how to ever thank you

I enjoyed it and I'm sure California

lucky did too

Miss

years ago it hasn't stay clean and hoppy

I believe my son Bruce is up there

working with those Outlaws your son you

mean the one was in the Army the

lieutenant he was unfortunately he got

in with a bad lck a card game with a

civilian Gambler ended in a fight Ah

that's bad business Bruce is hot

tempered when he was reprimanded he

struck his commanding officer and

escaped the arresting Squad J why don't

you go in there and bring him back I

can't go in there but you can persuade

him to leave Bruce should return and

face the court marshal before he becomes

a hunted

criminal when does the military Court

convene two weeks in today are you sure

he's a twin but a man answering Bruce's

description was seen during a sage hold

up near the

butes any gang of Thieves it'll hold up

in there certainly won't want a stranger

coming to visit I know hppy but you're

the man to handle

that all right Jed I'm your man sounds

like the peace and quiet I've been

looking

for

this was a job for me to handle alone so

I left a note for Lucky in California to

take care of things at the ranch while I

was

gone this is as far as you go mister

this is Clos

property looks like an open Trail to me

I said this is as far as you

go seems to me you fellas had post some

signs that this was close to the

public there had to be another way in

and I'd try to find

[Music]

it we meet a spit Rock he'll not bother

us

anymore

a dainty little thing for a gun man to

be

carrying hello oh

stranger loose up here at a time like

this I thought if I turned him down

Trail he'd go away he headed straight up

toward the Craigs luckily I stopped him

did you find out anything about him

enough to know that he's hiding from

some sort of trouble he'd only arrived a

few weeks earlier

Landy asked me to come up here and find

his son Bruce and bring him back and he

sign of him no not so far but there's

something going on around here he might

be mixed up in say I bet that's what

they were talking about and they cleaned

us out of cartridges too yeah and some
