"Episode 25"

Your Highness, don't move.

Your Highness.

Wei Guang, you're here at the right time.

I want to introduce you to someone.

Is it the Imperial Physician, Huo Yang Hong?

How did you know?

I was just guessing.

Eliminate all possibilities, and remain the last one.

Mr. Lang.

I haven't thanked you yet.

Thank you for secretly burying my father.

It’s no big deal.

We're on the same boat.

No need to say these things.

Mr. Wei.

Mr. Lang just said.

He found out from Prince Guang Ding,

that even if there isn't the niter vault,

they'll make the move too.

So, you must find out the distribution of their military forces at once.

I know they have a map of the distribution of the military forces.

It's hidden in the closet of the Princess Royal's chamber.

She always carries the key to the closet with her.

But three months ago,

I secretly broke the lock.

I leveraged the opportunity to repair the lock and made another key.

Tomorrow night is the best time for us to make a move.

Yan Zheng has left Yandu.

I just sent a pot of Dutchman's Pipe to Prince Guang Ding.

He'll hold a banquet for officials at all levels to view the flower.

When everyone is focus on the flowers,

that's our best chance.

I wanted to do it myself.

Unfortunately, my leg is still injured.

Wei Guang, we're counting on you now.

Leave everything to me.

Wei Guang.

I won't ask you why you took the blame for His Majesty.

I understand your loyalty.

But the truth of certain things has to be made known to all.

The more it's covered up, the uglier it gets.

This is blind loyalty.

I didn't do this for His Majesty.

Right now, what else can we expect...

from this emperor?

My family's loyalty isn't for His Majesty.

It's for the people.

You're doing this for the people?

One day...

you'll understand.

"Hua Xiang Palace"

They said the Dutchman's Pipe blossoms in the evening.

Everyone has left the banquet.

It's almost time. Why hasn't it blossomed yet?

All right.

The flowers might not blossom.

But it's considered a chance for us to gather together.

Wait no more.

All of you are dismissed.

I shall take my leave.

Your Highnesses.

Everyone came to view the flower blossoms.

How can we return with disappointment?

I heard that Prince Guang has recently took in,

the man from State of Qiuye as a bodyguard.

State of Qiuye is famous for its martial arts,

and we would love to see it.

Why don't Your Highness ask him to demonstrate it to us?

Let everyone enjoy it.

Mr. Lang knows me best.

All right.

I'll invite him to perform for everyone.

This way, please.

I'm willing to perform for everyone.

But it's hard to embody the essence of martial arts by myself.

I know...

there's a chief commander who's good at martial arts.

I would like to compete with him,

to delight everyone.

Interesting.

Wei Guang, why aren't you stepping forward?

I had a lot of drinks just now.

I'm afraid I couldn't hold the liquor well.

What a coincidence.

I had a few drinks as well.

Mr. Wei, don't be modest.

Wei Guang, just help to liven things up.

I'm not asking you to fight for real.

Why do you keep making excuses?

Chief Commander Wei is afraid?

According to State of Qiuye's rules,

we need to search both parties' bodies before the contest.

The State of Qiuye has so many rules.

Mr. Wei.

We are a big country.

Just accommodate our guest's demand.

All right.

Excuse me then.

That's enough.

You've been fighting for so long.

It's too close to call.

Both share the limelight. Each has your own capabilities.

All of you have enjoyed the performance.

It's getting late. Please return.

Don't go yet.

There's one last show to go.

I haven't made a move yet.

Mr. Lang.

You were injured a few days ago.

I'm afraid that it will affect your skills.

It's nothing.

It's just a minor injury.

I saw his flaw just now.

How can I not make a move to put him in his place?

What is it?

Are you scared?

There's a movement. Let's check it out.

Lin Jiang County, 9,000 heavy infantry.

Guang Cheng County.

Guang Cheng County, 2,000 archers.

Mr. Lang, stop fighting. Mind your health.

It's fine.

How can we lose to an outsider?

Noble Consort Ning, what are you doing?

Noble Consort Ning, please follow us to see the Princess Royal.

Go.

People!

Let's go.

Mr. Lang.

Mr. Lang.

Mr. Lang, stop fighting.

Stop!

All right.

Stop fighting.

All right.

Mr. Lang, that's enough.

-This is bad. -Mr. Lang, what is it?

We're having a fair fight.

You used the groin attack.

How could you use such a trick on Mr. Lang?

There's no such thing. I wouldn't dare to.

He...

Still denying it? Mr. Lang is in pain.

First, apologise to Mr. Lang.

Second, admit defeat.

Come here.

Forgive me, Mr. Lang.

Lucky for you.

If you weren't His Highness's man, I would have killed you.

Mu Yun County.

2,000 heavy armour soldiers.

That's not right.

It's 2,500.

Liang Jiang County.

700 warships.

That's all.

There are eight counties.

Yes, a total of eight.

What's the matter?

Lang Kun, hurry.

Noble Consort Ning.

You've overworked and are mentally and physically exhausted.

If you don't take a break, you won't be able to take it.

You must take care of yourself.

I grew up among the people.

I'm well aware of how tough the ordinary people’s lives are.

The explosion that took place,

killed many of the backbone of the family.

The old people and children were left behind.

Things will only get worse.

Once the war begins...

the ones who will die are not just these 800 people.

I feel so sad these days.

If it wasn't for my carelessness that gave Ban Ling Er the opportunity,

perhaps the bombing incident wouldn't have happened.

We must do our best...

to stop this war.

This is the edict of repentance.

In another three days, it's a month after the Yong Dong Gate's explosion.

I want to go to Yong Dong Gate to read out the edict to comfort the people.

The wrath of Heaven is revealed, and I ignored it.

The people made the complaints, and I wasn't aware of it.

The Heaven sent disasters, and shocked the ancestral shrine.

I've implicated the ancestors,

and failed the people.

If the land is blessed with prosperity and the people with peace,

shift the disasters on me,

to save the country.

This is what I desire.

I'm willing to resign myself to it.

Today, I issue the edict of repentance,

to cut down meals and stop all entertainment,

to show my act of sharing good times and hard times with the people,

to start anew.

I repent and am determined to reform.

Lang Kun said even if he was left with only the last bit of him,

he could defeat the bodyguard from the State of Qiuye.

And then?

Then, both of them had a fight.

Lang Kun was badly beaten.

Everyone wanted to break up the fight but Lang Kun wouldn't give in.

They got into the fight again.

In the end, that bodyguard admitted defeat.

What then?

After that, everyone was dismissed.

When I returned to my room,

I found the body in my closet.

The odd thing is it showed no signs of things having been touched.

Nothing went missing either.

Sister.

Your Highness.

What are you talking about?

I'm asking Mr. Yan to help me analyse the ins and outs of things.

Mr. Yan, after listening to my sister,

you must have guessed who killed the two bodyguards.

I know the answer even if you don't tell me.

Wei Guang did it.

Ye Ning Zhi helped him and Lang Kun is with them too.

All of them are spies, right?

Xiao Yu, don't be mad.

Sister.

I think there are too many possibilities.

We don't have enough evidence to prove they did it.

I think...

the people from Winged Tiger Army might have taken part in it.

That incapable ruler might have sent the people from Winged Tiger Army,

to steal secrets from us,

and our guards discovered them.

So, they killed them.

This is quite possible too.

Your Highness, I'm not done asking yet.

When Lang Kun and the bodyguard were fighting,

did Wei Guang and Noble Consort Ning say or do anything?

About that.

I really don't remember.

Xiao Yu, do you remember?

They were having a fight.

I didn't pay much attention to them.

Before we have any solid evidence on this matter...

Of course. We can't act rashly.

I have a way to ferret out the spies.

Now, the most important thing is to get in touch with all the forces.

Your Majesty, what can I do for you?

Ban Ling Er.

You've been here for a month, right?

Yes.

You've helped to make a great contribution.

Not only have you destroyed the niter vault,

you're also smart and pretty.

The empress dowager hasn't been feeling well lately.

I want to send someone smart and capable to serve her.

So, I would like to send you to Cheng Xiang Palace.

Your Majesty.

If I have done anything wrong, I'll change it.

Your Majesty, please don't chase me away.

You didn't do anything wrong.

Your Majesty.

I just want serve Your Majesty with all my heart.

Please let me stay, Your Majesty.

It was Noble Consort Ning who made me realise.

I want to do my best to govern the country,

and be devoted wholeheartedly to Noble Consort Ning.

Do you understand?

I understand.

You've helped to make a great contribution.

I'm giving it to you.

I don't deserve it.

I'm giving it to you.

Why can't you accept it? Take it.

Your Majesty.

It's my job...

to serve Your Majesty.

Your Majesty has treated me well.

I couldn't repay Your Majesty for it.

How would I dare to ask for Your Majesty's favour?

I won't force you then.

Keep this in mind.

About the manslaughter of Prince Bei Ying by Noble Consort Ning,

and that you once gave me,

the maps of the niter vault.

Don't you breathe a word about it.

Got it?

Yes.

I shall take my leave now.

Take care, Your Majesty.

Your Highness.

I'm leaving Guang Xuan Palace.

I won't be able to serve Your Highness anymore.

You must take good care of yourself.

Why?

I didn't ask His Majesty to scold you.

As for the map,

don't do it again.

The empress dowager is not feeling well.

Seeing that His Majesty has been worried,

I volunteered to take care of the empress dowager in Cheng Xiang Palace.

I see.

After you get to Cheng Xiang Palace,

you must take a good care of the empress dowager.

Your Highness.

I'll never forget the favour Your Highness has done for me.

I'm forever your servant.

Ban Ling Er, you try to reach for the stars.

The fight in the palace is never ending.

No one will win.

When you get to Cheng Xiang Palace,

be sure to settle down.

I know.

Greetings, Your Highness.

How's the empress dowager's condition?

Her Highness has head injury,

and now has unresolved matter on mind.

The condition has worsened.

Her Highness would have incoherent speech from time to time.

All right. I got it.

Greetings, Your Highness.

Has the empress dowager been depressed lately?

You need to talk to Her Highness more often.

The disaster has happened.

There's no turning back.

Actually, it wasn't just because of that disaster.

What then?

The Princess Royal and Prince Guang Ding,

come to visit Her Highness every day.

Each time after they left,

Her Highness would be depressed.

What did Princess Royal and Prince Guang Ding...

say to Her Highness?

I don't know.

Noble Consort Fang.

Noble Consort Ning.

Lately, Her Highness took the things she experienced when she was young,

as if it has just happened.

The Princess Royal is here.

All of you are dismissed.

I would like to hear what is it that Princess Royal say to Her Highness.

Yes.

-Let's go. -All right.

Greetings, Your Highness.

Greetings, Your Highness.

Greetings, Imperial Mother.

Every time I come...

Imperial Mother will always be asleep.

What a coincidence.

Imperial Mother must be grieving because of the explosion.

If there's a civil war...

the number of death will be far worse than this.

This is the result of the unfairness,

that Imperial Mother and Father made back then.

If you think sleeping is better than being awake,

I'll take my leave then.

Next time, I'll bring Xiao Yu with me.

Let Xiao Yu ask you in person.

Lang Kun.

Quickly leave.

Quickly leave.

The wolves are here.

You've suffered so much.

I still asked you to do such a dangerous thing.

It's time for Her Highness to take the medicine.

Quickly get out of here.

The Princess Royal is back.

Don't let her know I'm here. Got it?

Quickly leave.

Let's go.

Your Highness.

Your Highness, quickly wake up.

-What's the matter? -You had a dream just now.

You told the Princess Royal that Lang Kun is a spy.

Had a dream?

I had a few dreams.

Let's not worry about that for now.

The Princess Royal will be back soon.

Later on, tell the Princess Royal that His Majesty and Her Majesty are spies.

Do you get it?

What do you mean?

Greetings, Your Highness.

Why didn't Her Highness take the medicine?

Her Highness hasn't woke up.

That's why I didn't dare to...

-All of you are dismissed. -Yes.

I don't understand.

Pretend to sleep.

Imperial Mother.

Just now, you said that Lang Kun is a spy.

Let me ask you.

Are Wei Guang and Noble Consort Ning spies?

Lang Kun.

Why are you still here?

Prince Guang Ding found out that you're a spy.

He's going to send you to Mount Lang.

You'll be bitten to death by the wolves.

Wei Guang, your cover has been blown.

Also...

Noble Consort Ning.

Quickly leave too.

Empress, you need to leave too.

They know you're a spy.

Also, His Majesty.

Why are you still here?

Imperial Mother, are you saying...

that His Majesty is a spy too?

Prince Guang Ding.

Prince Guang Ding.

You should leave too.

Your cover is blown too.

Also, the Princess Royal.

Hurry up!

Quickly leave.

Leave.

Quickly leave.

Leave.

Leave.

Your Highness.

I've been feeling muddleheaded.

Ning Zhi.

I'll entrust you with the great responsibility.

Protect Liang.

Protect His Majesty.

Mr. Lang.

Mr. Lang.

What's the matter?

The empress dowager had a dream,

and had a slip of tongue that you're a spy.

The Princess Royal heard it.

What?

Her Highness realised her mistake and pretended to talk in sleep.

Her Highness said His Majesty and Her Majesty are spies.

I think we managed to bluff our way out of it for the time being.

But judging from the Princess Royal's nature,

she'll surely be suspicious.

Lang Kun, you can't stay in Yandu anymore.

I'll send someone to escort you to leave.

Your Majesty, I won't leave.

Mr. Lang.

I think that the Princess Royal is a very smart person.

Even if the empress dowager managed to fool her for the time being,

she'll surely be suspicious of you when she comes to realise it.

Do you want to stay here and wait to be killed?

What if the Princess Royal believed the things empress dowager said?

Your Majesty, I would like to take my chances.

I don't want you to risk your life anymore.

Didn't you build a log cabin on the mountains?

Hide for a few days. Lie low until all the fuss died down.

But with me gone...

that's sending a message to Princess Royal that I am a spy.

At that time...

Wei Guang and Noble Consort Ning will be in a danger too.

I can't just leave like this.

Don't worry about us.

We'll surely play it by ear.

No.

This is a very dangerous moment.

We can't throw ourselves off our game.

Lang Kun.

Eighteen years ago, you told me that...

a healer has a benevolent heart.

You wanted to cure me of my heart palpitations.

But what happened after that?

You were pushed down Mount Lang.

Every time I think of this...

I feel so regretful.

Why didn't I send you away earlier?

Had I sent you away earlier, all the danger,

that followed suit wouldn't have happened.

So this time...

you must listen to me.

Quickly get out of here.

Your Majesty, have you thought about it?

No matter how dangerous it is...

I'm doing it willingly.

That's because...

I'm protecting the people that I want to protect.

If I have to live in disgrace...

what's the point of living then?

I really wish the one before me is still that evil person.

At least, you can do things as you please.

You need not bother about the others.

Lang Kun, let me ask you something.

Can you listen to me for one last time?

Your Majesty.

Back then, I didn't do those things intentionally.

And the things that I'm doing now...

are my heart's desires.

I chose this path.

So, I never thought about turning back.

Your Majesty.

Please take care.

Your Highness.

Take care.

Lang Kun!

Your Majesty.

I can relate to what Mr. Lang feels.

Because we have...

the people that we want to protect with our lives.

Even if the road ahead is dangerous,

we won't give up.

Because if we give up...

it's even more painful than losing our lives.

Mr. Yan.

What are you doing?

Mr. Yan.

You've been telling me that you're working on it.

It's been so many days.

Have you came up with an idea?

Didn't Your Highness insist that,

Lang Kun, Wei Guang and Noble Consort Ning aren't the spies?

What else does Your Highness want me to investigate?

Could you have started to doubt that they are spies?

Of course I have an idea.

Kill three birds with one stone.

Just one move and we'll know if they are spies.

How?

You just have to cooperate with me.

Listen to my commands.

All right.

I'll listen to you this time.

Thank you, Your Highness.

Your Majesty.

Eunuch Li would like to seek an audience.

Send him in.

Greetings, Your Majesty.

Did something happen to the empress dowager?

Her Highness sent me here to inform Your Majesty that,

Princess Royal and Prince Guang Ding invited Chief Commander Wei,

Noble Consort Ning and Mr. Lang to Hua Xiang Palace before noon.

But the Princess Royal secretly brought in the dead squad,

into the palace.

The killers under Yan Zheng have infiltrated the palace too.

What?

Come on. Try it.

Thanks, Your Highness.

This is a good tea that I collected.

-I'll send some to you later. -No need for that.

Lang Kun, get over here!

Your Highness, please hold on.

Your Majesty, please calm down.

Did I offend Your Majesty?

What did you tell,

the palace maids from the Pear Blossom Academy?

Don't think that I don't know.

The Princess Royal's dead squad will enter the palace tonight.

Your Majesty, I'm innocent.

Why would I say anything to the palace maids?

I'm going to take my chances.

Stop twisting the fact!

If I find out that you talk behind my back,

I'm going to poison you and turn you into a mute.

Don't go. It's dangerous.

I'll obey Your Majesty.

Don't worry, Your Majesty.

I will come back alive.

Come on.

-Here, try this. -Okay.

Come. Try it.

The taste is good.

Mr. Lang.

-What? -Why do you fear my sister-in-law?

Don't joke about that.

No?

Greetings, Your Highness.

Everyone is here.

Your Highness asked all of us here.

Does it mean that the time has come?

Everyone knows.

Two days ago, two guards died...

in my chamber.

It's obvious.

They came to steal confidential information.

Besides, in the past three months,

our plans kept hitting snags.

How would that incapable ruler be able to see that coming,

and be a step ahead of us to take down our operations?

My sister and I have gathered 28 generals from all over the place.

Some of them were assassinated on the way here.

Some are still missing.

Guess how many met up with us?

Four.

I understand what Your Highnesses mean.

Since we're called here,

that means that Your Highnesses suspect there's a spy among us.

It's not a suspicion.

It's been confirmed.

There is a spy among us.

Who is it?

It's you.

People!

Your Highness, that's so hurtful!

-Take him down. -Your Highness.

Your Highness suspects me. I'm not going to defend myself.

Please show me the evidence.

Otherwise, I won't die in peace.

Lang Kun is a mad dog who's greedy,

for power, wealth, and commits all kinds of atrocities.

Your Highness.

Could there be someone who gives him a better offer than Your Highness?

Noble Consort Ning.

Don't rush into defending Lang Kun.

If I didn't have solid evidence,

I wouldn't need to muster such large forces.

Wei Guang.

You're always up against Lang Kun, right?

I'll give you a chance.

I'll let you kill him yourself.
