"Episode 9"

-Silly girl, enjoy yourself in hell. -Commander Li.

You seem to have no more respect for me.

Without asking my permission,

you wanted act on your own to kill her?

Who calls the shots here?

Mr. Lang.

When I see Ye Ning Zhi,

I'm burning in rage, and acted in the heat of the moment.

How was it? Did you get the evidence?

There are two letters and a box.

Give me the pill.

Well done.

Thank you, sir.

Let's us kill them to silent them.

You need to think a few steps ahead.

Right now, everyone is looking for Ye Ning Zhi.

If we kill her now,

how do we get away from it?

Noble Consort Fu ordered me to kill Ye Ning Zhi.

What's the hurry?

People, put them into the coffin.

Deal with them somewhere else.

People, nail the coffin.

What are you doing?

Anyone there?

Let us out of here.

Let us out. We've a lot of evidence that we have yet to give to you.

Wei Guang.

Wake up.

Wake up, Wei Guang.

Wei Guang, wake up.

Where is this?

Why is it so dark?

They put us in a coffin.

What's the matter?

You're injured?

You're injured?

Don't make a sound.

Listen carefully to the sound outside.

Listen carefully.

There's a creek in front.

After we pass the creek, there's a forest.

It's the safest to make a move there.

All right.

What did you hear?

They said...

there's a creek in front.

After passing the creek...

They want to bury us alive.

Let us out of here!

-Let us out of here! -Don't move.

The coffin is completely sealed.

The more you move, the more difficult it is to breathe.

Stay quiet.

Think of a way.

Are we going to die in here?

Don't worry.

I'm here.

That's right.

You're here.

With you around,

I won't be afraid even if I die.

Stop talking.

There's little air inside here.

I'm a martial artist.

I can hold on for a while longer.

Breathe slowly.

You can hang in there for sometime too.

What are you doing?

You're not breathing to let me breathe?

-What about me if you're dead? -Be good.

What about me if you're dead?

We'll die together, all right?

The road is very narrow.

Be careful.

There are many small stones.

Be careful not to slip down.

Slow down.

It sounds like they're on a narrow mountain road.

Let's gamble.

Be careful.

What's going on?

A bunch of trash!

Are you all right?

I'm fine.

How are you?

Here. Take a seat.

Ning Zhi.

Listen to me.

Two days ago, I found Fu Shi Gui.

But he escaped last night.

But Fu Shi Gui must still be in the palace.

As long as Fu Shi Gui is still in the palace,

when we get back there,

we'll search high and low.

We can surely catch him.

There's something fishy.

Only Her Majesty and the empress dowager have hallucinations.

I've asked the palace maids and eunuchs who serve them.

They said Her Majesty and the empress dowager,

were bitten by a kind of mosquito.

Their bodies were swollen, and they were feeling unwell.

There's incense in empress dowager and empress's chambers.

Why would there be mosquitoes?

That's why I sent someone to investigate it.

It has to do with a secret weapon that resembles the mosquito bite.

Wei Guang.

Wei Guang.

Wei Guang.

Ning Zhi.

No matter what happens in the future...

don't kill Lang Kun.

What are you talking about?

Have you forgotten how Lang Kun treated us?

You fell from such great heights because of him.

But...

we survived because of that.

Isn't it?

Wei Guang.

Wei Guang.

Wei Guang.

Wait for me.

Wait for me to get the medicine for you, all right?

Wait for me.

Where's the physician?

Where's the physician?

Where's the physician?

Do you know where's the physician?

There's no physician here. There's only a medicine store.

-Shopkeeper. -What medicine do you want to buy?

I want to buy the medicine for puncture wounds.

My friend got stabbed, and he lost a lot of blood.

All right. Hold on.

It's eight taels.

I didn't bring money with me.

No money and you want to get the medicine?

Don't run! Stop!

Are you alright?

You'll be fine.

You'll be fine.

It's going to be all right.

If I die...

you have to protect yourself.

I know.

You love to take up the cudgel for others.

But only by staying alive...

will there be hope.

Got it?

You'll be fine.

I'll find a safe place.

Then, you can recuperate.

We'll return to the palace after you've recovered.

Then, we'll deal with Noble Consort Fu together.

Wei Guang.

You have so much to do.

Your wish has not been fulfilled. Have you forgotten your promise?

Did you forget the reason you promised to be with me?

It's because of your vengeance.

Think about your dad.

If you close your eyes,

how are you going to face him?

Think about me.

You haven't married me yet.

If you leave with the hatred,

how am I going to live on?

Wei Guang.

I don't want you to die.

Ning Zhi.

Don't cry.

I prefer...

the Ning Zhi who smiles.

Don't cry.

Wei Guang.

Wei Guang, wake up.

Wei Guang, wake up.

Wei Guang.

It's my cart. Why did you push my cart?

-Move aside! -Stop right there! My cart! Stop!

Stop! Don't let her get away!

Stop! She stole my cart!

Wei Guang, hang in there.

I'll take you to the physician.

Wei Guang, hang in there.

Hang in there.

I'm going to take you to the physician.

You promised me that both of us must stay alive.

You promised me, Wei Guang.

Hang in there!

Don't run! She's over there.

Stop! Don't run!

-Stop! -Hurry!

Miss, let us help you.

Come on. Push harder.

Come on.

Wei Guang.

"Yong De Palace"

Wei Guang.

How is Wei Guang?

We've helped to attend to his wound.

But Mr. Wei has lost too much blood.

-And he has high fever. -When will he wake up?

Whether or not he wakes up, that will depend on these two days.

If he can wake up in the next two days,

he'll tide over the crisis.

If he can't wake up,

I'm afraid things aren't looking so good.

-You're dismissed. -Yes.

Don't worry.

I'm going to find the best physician to save Wei Guang.

Is there still hope for him?

There is if I say so.

While you were gone...

I didn't have a peace of mind.

But I know someone did it on purpose.

But I couldn't do anything.

I really couldn't resign myself to it.

Is that all Your Majesty has to say?

I don't know where Lang Kun went to.

The empress dowager merely knows how to abstain from meat and pray.

Now, Wei Guang is so badly injured.

I really don't know.

Who else can help me?

Ning Zhi.

Wei Guang.

You must wake up.

Black Python Deity.

I'll make my final wish now.

I hope Wei Guang will wake up soon.

I won't regret it even if anything bad happens to me.

So long as Wei Guang wake up soon.

Please grant me my wish.

Noble Consort Fu, that's rare.

Why are you here?

I won't come here without a reason.

I heard that Mr. Wei is recuperating in your palace.

I'm here to get him.

Get him?

For what?

Who are you to do that?

Your Majesty, you've misunderstood.

I'm here to save Mr. Wei.

Wei Guang has been unconscious.

I've sent five imperial physicians to treat him.

He's still unconscious.

Have you forgotten?

His Majesty wants you out of the palace.

Your Majesty is not in the palace.

What about Mr. Wei then?

What's the use of the imperial physicians?

I've invited the divine physician, Jiang Hong Xue to watch over him.

He has lived in the mountains for more than ten years.

Out of respect for me, he's willing to step out again.

In this world, no one can save Mr. Wei besides him.

Wei Guang is my people. Who are you to take him away?

I have yet to abdicate.

Are you that anxious to arrogate power?

I'll call you the empress once more for today.

You must learn to appreciate it.

Step aside.

Noble Consort Fu, the higher the climb, the harder the fall.

You're behaving outrageously now.

You might regret it in the future.

I don't know what will the future be.

But right now, it's obvious who's the one falling.

Didn't His Majesty tell you the date you're leaving the palace?

I've asked Yan Kuan to do the prediction.

After the praying ceremony,

the news would have spread across the palace.

Could you be the last to know?

Wei Guang.

I won't let you die.

You haven't married me yet.

If you can hear me,

you must hang in there.

For your sake...

I'm willing to do anything.

-Bring Mr. Wei out. -Who dares to?

Mr. Wei is in the side hall.

Your Majesty.

-Ning Zhi, convey my decree. -Your Majesty.

Allow me to be so bold as to disobey you.

I just want...

Mr. Wei to wake up as soon as possible.

All of you, come with me!

Mr. Wei has been unconscious.

It's one thing to lose a lot of blood.

The crux of the matter is that,

the blood clot in the brain isn't dissolving.

Can he still be saved?

Miss, don't worry.

Fortunately, I came in time.

Mr. Wei can be saved.

How long does it take for him to regain consciousness?

A day or two.

At most, three to four days.

I'll perform acupuncture for Mr. Wei.

Physician Jiang.

You're old and you just rushed over from the mountains.

I'm afraid your body couldn't take it.

No hurry. Get some rest first.

I might be old.

But I'm still vigorous.

Physician Jiang.

You should go and take a rest.

I am not an unreasonable person.

How can I let you get so tired?

I've brought both your grandchildren to Yan Du.

I'll do as promised,

and ask His Majesty to confer them titles as high-ranking officers.

You should know what to do.

I'll obey Your Highness's order.

Don't worry.

The divine physician is here.

Mr. Wei will surely be fine.

Let's go out and talk.

Take care, Your Highness.

Ning Zhi, I've long heard of you.

You're the empress's most capable assistant.

I've been wanting to see you.

I finally get to see you today.

There's a sense of kinship when I first saw you.

You're indeed a smart person.

Why don't you come to Qiu Ye Palace to serve me?

I'm always kind to my servants.

I won't boss you around.

We'll be like besties.

Thank you, Noble Consort Fu.

You really are a smart person.

I like it.

Tomorrow, His Majesty will hold the prayer ceremony,

in the Imperial Garden.

Pray for peace in the palace, and that there's no more strange visions.

I hope the fake rumours will stop.

Those who have seen the strange visions will be there.

And that includes you as well.

At that time, you must tell everyone,

that Fu Shi Gui was possessed.

That's why he killed Xiao Hua.

You saw six phantoms coming out of him with your own eyes.

We'll teach you what to say tomorrow.

Don't be afraid.

Just memorize it like memorizing the book.

If you do as told by Her Highness,

Her Highness will surely save Mr. Wei.

But if you play tricks...

not only you have to die.

Wei Guang will die as well.

Both of you will become a ghost couple.

Come on, Ning Zhi. I'll teach you what to say.

What did you say?

Noble Consort Fu and her brother are good people?

Her Majesty forced you to cover up a lie for her?

You're lying.

Everyone in the harem knows,

Noble Consort Fu is a vicious person.

She's even scarier than Her Majesty.

Fu Shi Gui has no respect for the law, and does as he pleases.

That's why you said.

Previously...

I've misunderstood Noble Consort Fu.

Now, I'll give up the evil ways and turn to Her Highness.

Her Highness is a kind-hearted person.

Her Highness even hired a divine physician to treat Mr. Wei.

I got it.

You did it to save Mr. Wei.

That's why you're covering up for Noble Consort Fu.

I'm not.

Ning Zhi.

Do you remember what you said?

Although we are palace maids...

our parents raised us up. We must think highly of ourselves.

We can't let others bully us.

What is this?

For the sake of fame and wealth, you're helping her to twist the facts?

You really disappoint me.

-Young lady. -Young lady.

How could you say that?

Beggars can't be choosers.

Besides, our young lady is but a palace maid.

What can she do?

Xiao Hua and I...

are poor people.

But because we are palace maids...

we deserved to be trampled by others?

Even if we die, no one will bother.

Back then, when I was insulted...

I wished I could die at that moment.

It was you.

You stopped me.

You told me to live well.

Do you know?

I have nightmares every night.

I dreamt of that night.

Xiao Hua died a terrible death.

It's fine if you're not helping to redress an injustice for her.

Instead, you want to defend Fu Shi Gui,

and help him get away with it?

Is there humanity in you?

I'm sure she has her reasons. She wants to save Mr. Wei.

Leave. I never want to see you again.

Young lady.

"Get the evidence from under the altar in the coffin shop in Jin Feng Town."

I dare not trouble the future empress to come here personally.

Mr. Yan.

You've made great contribution.

Of course I'm here to receive you.

I'll surely do my utmost, and be devoted till I die.

All these years...

those who have been disrespectful to me,

kneel down.

I'll let you die with your body intact.

Please.

"Prison"

Noble Consort Fu.

Is there any action from that woman in Yong De Palace?

What else can she do?

She's like a lamb that's about to be slaughtered.

She's been hiding in the palace,

and wouldn't leave.

That's not surprising.

If I were her, I wouldn't have the cheek to see anyone.

Mr. Yan.

What's the matter?

Perhaps, this battle isn't over yet.

The prayer ceremony officially begins.

Report!

Your Majesty, Fu Shi Gui has been captured.

Brother, you've suffered.

Why didn't you tell me where you were?

Your Highness.

When we found him, he was hiding and shivering under Huajin Bridge.

Sister.

Although I was possessed,

I've indeed killed Xiao Hua.

I've committed such a grave sin.

I should be punished.

Your Majesty.

I didn't teach him well.

I'm willing to be punished with Shi Gui.

Don't rush to ask for punishment.

The innocence isn't afraid of rumours.

We still don't know what happened.

It will soon become apparent after we find out the truth.

General Zhang, untie Fu Shi Gui.

Your Highness.

The scholars from each county presented the memorials.

They said that the government didn't handle this properly.

The intellectuals don't put the blame on supernatural phenomenon.

Your Highness.

This matter is becoming a bigger mess.

We agree with the Grand Marshal.

I've ordered for this matter to be kept secret.

But everyone in the court knows about it.

It looks like someone couldn't resign to it,

and would like to raise a stink.

The worse it becomes, the safer she is.

Noble Consort Fu.

If both of you are innocent...

why do you try to stop the investigation?

Where should I start?

Have you not investigated it?

It went on for half a month.

But you didn't find anything.

Instead, you encountered the strange vision,

and got scared out of your wits.

Because of that,

I would like to continue with the investigation.

Otherwise, all my previous efforts would be in vain.

Before that, I would like all of you to meet these two people.

This is empress's personal maid, Ye Ning Zhi.

This is the maid who has served the empress for seven years, Chen Xue.

What have you heard and seen in Yong De Palace?

Just tell in detail to His Majesty.

Your Majesty.

Actually, Her Majesty knew,

Noble Consort Li had resentments and would return to seek revenge.

So, Her Majesty went to Ziwu Mountain, and hired five Taoist priests,

to protect her day and night.

But coincidentally, that night,

Noble Consort Li's spirit showed up under the banyan tree.

It possessed Fu Sh Gui, who passed by there,

and he killed the palace maid, Xiao Hua.

At that moment, those five priests acted,

and captured Fu Shi Gui, who was acting crazy.

What happened after that?

After that,

Her Majesty ordered the Taoist priests to perform the ceremony,

and force all the evil spirits out of Fu Shi Gui.

I have a vivid memory of the screaming of the evil spirit.

He was whipped all over his body.

All the evil spirits had been forced out.

At that time...

Her Majesty laughed.

Her Majesty said.

Even though the evil spirits are gone...

the wicked one is still here.

Ye Ning Zhi.

Do you think by helping Noble Consort Fu to go up against me,

she can help to save Wei Guang?

Stop dreaming.

Don't forget.

Wei Guang and you are the evidence of her crimes.

Your Majesty, why are you so emotional?

It doesn't matter if Ye Ning Zhi is telling the truth or not,

let's hear her out before we jump to conclusion.

Xiao Hua survived that night.

The imperial physician said there was hope for Xiao Hua.

But Her Majesty ordered people to strangle her to death,

and burn her body.

The dead cannot bear witness.

The motive is to frame Fu Shi Gui.

Fu Shi Gui was very scared.

Then, Her Majesty went to meet Noble Consort Fu,

and told her to lie that she contracted a strange disease,

and that she wants to leave the palace.

If not, Her Majesty would have Fu Shi Gui executed,

and make it known to the public,

so that Noble Consort Fu would suffer a big disgrace.

Is that true?

Your Majesty.

I didn't want to bring this up.

But in order to prove my innocence,

I have no choice too.

I'm not the only one who's well aware of this.

Lang Kun.

Chen Xue.

Commander Li.

They're witnesses.

Ye Ning Zhi!

The gorgeous clothing and great delicacies.

The imperial palace.

The motherly role-model for the nation.

A towering figure.

It turns out it is just a dream.

But...

I won't go quietly.

Even if I leave, I'll do it with a bang.

In a hundred years,

let's see how the people will comment on this.

Let's see whose side are they on.

What are you going to do?

Noble Consort Fu.

Don't be afraid.

I've merely prepared a few barrels of kerosene in Yong De Palace.

Let's have the fire take us all down.

Stop the empress! Hurry up!

-Your Majesty. -Why torture yourself over this?

You're just a dog that I keep by my side.

Who are you to bark in front of me?

-Step aside. -Empress.

If you don't agree with the things that Ning Zhi said,

just refute them.

Why turn things into such a mess?

You won't believe what I say.

Why make an exhibition of myself?

I'm Eunuch Gao.

I was killed by the empress!

Go away.

-This... -Don't come near me!

Don't come near me!

Don't come near me!

Help! Go away!

Don't come near me!

-Don't come near me! -Your Majesty.

Your Majesty.

It's me.

Your Majesty.

I'm here.

Your Majesty.

Your Highness.

Was the story I told a touching one?

But I alone,

wouldn't be able to come up with such a fancy story.

All thanks to Yan Kuan.

Mr. Yan.

Why are you looking at me?

You're mad that I stole your limelight?

Why are you looking at me?

Are you feeling guilty?

Ye Ning Zhi.

Are you out of your mind?

Mr. Yan.

After the prayer ceremony, please exorcise Ye Ning Zhi.

Take her away.

Anyone who dares to take Ye Ning Zhi means you're giving me a hard time.

If you want to catch her, you'll have to arrest me first.

Your Majesty. Your Highness.

I was telling a story just now.

But right now, I'm telling the truth.

The spirits, red-faced noble consort,

the four-legged eunuch, the strong General Shi,

are a bunch of lies!

Only one thing is true.

He did kill Xu Xiao Hua, and tried to get away with it.

That's a bunch of nonsense.

Commander Li.

Do you still remember this medicine?

This is different from the one you wanted to step on in the coffin shop.

Mr. Wei has once told me to duplicate important evidence.

So...

before you caught up to me, I hid the real medicine and,

the acknowledgement of apprenticeship under the altar.

This is the real one.
