Faster than a speeding bullet. More
powerful than a locomotive.
Able to leap tall buildings at a single
bound.
Look up in the sky.
It's a bird. It's a plane. It's
Superman! It's Superman,
man of cool
Superman! Superman, rocketed to Earth as
an entrance from the distant planet
Krypton exploded. And Ho disguised as
Clark Kent, mild planet reporter for the
Daily Planet, fights a never-ending
battle for truth, justice, and freedom
with superpowers far beyond those of
ordinary modals. It's Superman, Superman,
Superman, Superman!
It is a lovely, warm, tropical day on the
beach at Waikiki in Hawaii, where Lois
Lane is on vacation. Suddenly, with
no warning, the beach is swept by a
frigid blast, and the warm water
congeals into jagged sheets of solid
ice. Good
grief.
This is fantastic. It's
It's like a scene at the North Pole. I
can't wait to cable this story to the
Daily Planet. But the
strange ice plague has affected more than
the bathers and surf riders at Waikiki
Beach. Across the lush tropical
island lies a swath of frozen ruin,
an icy wasteland.
Meanwhile, at the Daily Planet office,
Clark Kent and editor Perry White read
Lois Lane's report of the catastrophe.
I can't believe it, Kent. There must be
some mistake. There's no mistake, Perry.
Lois is too good a reporter for that. If
you're right, Kent, I'd better hold the
presses for what may be the biggest story
that Daily Planet has ever set in tight.
Stand by for rewrite.
I'll dig up the facts firsthand. As
Superman.
Up, up, and away!
Faster than any rocket, the Man of Steel
zooms across the continent, across the
broad Pacific. And within minutes, he is
over Pearl Harbor. Fantastic.
If I didn't know better, I'd say this was
a polar ice cap instead of Hawaii.
My heat ray vision can repair some of the
damage here. But this
doesn't solve the problem in other parts
of the island. Away!
Curious, the trail of ice leads in a
clearly traceable channel to
great Scott, a man of
ice. I
see it, but I don't believe it.
Now, look here. I want to--
Well, this is a pretty icy reception,
but no problem. There, the way it
was refreshing. But now let's get down to
cold fax. You, my
freezing friend, have got to go back into
your deep freeze.
Good. There's Superman
battling a creature that looks as if it's
made of ice. That must be what's
responsible for this freak cold
wave. Oh, you are a slippery one.
Good heavens! We're freezing over. The
Gungle is breaking away! Up, up!
Uh ohThat ice creature has used the time
to make good his escape. I must find him.
Up, up, and away!
At a nearby volcano, rumbling flame and
fury. As awed bystanders look on,
a remarkable transformation takes place.
Great galloping ghosts! It-- It's
turned into a glacier!
Ah, that's where the Iceman must be
hiding. Somewhere inside the volcano.
Meanwhile, aboard the flagship of the
U.S. fleet in Pearl Harbor. Sir,
our observation planes report that the
Iceman has taken refuge in the volcano.
Good. Is the area clear?Yes, Admiral.
All tourists fled when the volcano became
frozen. Order the gunnery officer to
train all the fleet's guns on the target.
This creature must be destroyed. Right,
sir. At this moment,
Superman dives into the frozen volcano's
mouth. And there discovers the Iceman,
hard at work.
Looks as if my friend has found what he
was searching for.
It's some sort of a bomb. I'd better
dig it up.
Now for an x-ray look inside.
Great Scott. This bomb is
capable of plunging the Earth into
another ice age. Luckily, the air
fills with the whine of heavy shells.
Seconds later, the ground rocks to
violent explosions.
A bombardment must be coming from our
fleet in Pearl Harbor. Come on, we'd best
get out of here.
Mustn't let one of these shells detonate
this bomb I'm carrying or it'll be a
worldwide disaster.
Got to get these to a safe place. Ah,
there's a likely looking asteroid.
Away you go. With one
mighty super throw, Superman hurls both
the Iceman and the deadly ice bomb
across millions of miles of space. to a
distant asteroid which in seconds
becomes a frozen mass of rock
now that abominable ice man has a happy
home back to earth away
Lois it's good to have you back from
sunny Hawaii sunny Hawaii hmm
I got a little souvenir for you to remind
you of your vacation really
what is it pineapple ice
Oh, don't you think you're funny?
