a purple light.

it multiple times, right?

The way that it correlated
with the timing

of the launches was
very interesting.

-It was really bright.
-Okay.

Last night
we were hoping to zero

in on the cause
of all the energy spikes,

GPS anomalies and UAPs
that we keep seeing

in the so-called triangle
here on Skinwalker Ranch.

But instead, the rockets
and mortars that we launched

seemed to have triggered two
new phenomena that we've never

seen before hundreds of yards
away in the south field.

THOMAS: Whoa, what was
that purple light over there?

TRAVIS: Thomas Winterton saw
what he described as a purple

flashing light
in the south field,

but when he went over
there to investigate it

with Tom Lewis and Kandus
Linde, it disappeared.

Neither one of us has seen

anything to account
for that purple light.

TRAVIS:
And then Kaleb Bench and I

saw a UAP above him

in our night vision scope
that seemed to be

tracking his movements,
like it was stalking him.

If you've got the,
the footage of that light,

I'd love to see it
'cause I never

did get to actually see it.

So, guys, look there. We've
got our familiar landmarks.

We know what those lights are.

TRAVIS: They're security lights
at the houses,

you know, far enough away.

Okay, I'll continue playing.

For purple.

TRAVIS:
Whoa, whoa, whoa!

-ERIK: There, right there.
-TRAVIS: Whoa, right.

That's it, though.

ERIK: The first takeaway
for me looking at this is,

okay, it is
at the same level in our shot

as those known terrestrial,
uh, light sources.

-Exactly.
-So it's down low.

-It was not in the sky.
-Right.

Now the question is, what is it?

So, when you compare
the size and the brightness

and the intensity
of the light

to the amber yard lights
and the white ones off there,

you know, those lights are big,
big lights-- bright...

-Mm-hmm.
-...and this is just as big.

And-and the fact that it's
purple, maybe I'm wrong,

but purple lights
don't carry as far as...?

No, it's, uh, your eye
doesn't respond to purple.

In fact, your eye responds best
to a greenish yellow color.

For it to be a purple light
and you to see it,

it had to be,
have a lot of energy in it.

And so I find
that really interesting.

As an optical scientist,
I've studied

the light spectrum
that the human eye

can see for more than 30 years.

Purple is near the edge
of that spectrum.

So, for it to be as bright
as this, it had to have been

created by something
emitting a lot of energy.

I'm not sure
what that could have been.

While you're
chasing this purple light,

uh, we've got what appears to be

something blinking
over your heads

only a couple hundred feet
above you

and following your motion.

-That is odd.
-Can you point it out to me?

-Yeah, I'll-I'll show you.
-Okay.

Kaleb and I could tell
this thing

was moving and it was
right over your head.

-THOMAS: I see it right there.
-Yeah, you see it right here.

It was right over your heads,

and it moved with you.
It was, like, a couple

-hundred feet, at most,
above the ground.
-Okay.

how bright it was?
-I'm seeing it.

You can't, you can't miss it.

Why is that happening
at the exact same time

we're doing these, uh,
stimulation experiments,

and there is a-a strange purple,

uh, light or object
appearing on the property?

I don't like that.

-I don't like the fact

that there was something
following me as I was out there.

If it was a human doing it,
it's a bad thing,

and if it wasn't a human doing
it, it's-- I don't know

if that's a good thing or not.

THOMAS: We got the hole empty,
so we ready to drill again?

-Yeah.
-TRAVIS: After our meeting
in the command center,

Erik Thomas and I headed out
to the mesa where Aaron Blunt

and his team
from Straight Shot Drillers

were about to continue
another major investigation

that we recently started.

Would this drill,
would it drill through

steel-reinforced concrete?

-Yes.
-It would?

Yeah, we do it
quite a few times.

Okay.

Last year...

...Aaron drilled
at this location

and his bit
scraped along the bottom

of a 400-foot-long dome-shaped,

possibly metal, object...

Yeah, I'm up against something
pretty hard right now.

TRAVIS:
The bit couldn't penetrate it,

but scientific analysis
that we had

conducted
on small fragments of metal

that were in the spoils showed

they were composed
of the same type of materials

that NASA uses
on the space shuttle.

That's actually
very interesting.

And then, three weeks ago,

we conducted new
ground-penetrating radar scans

in this area
and found that there appears

to be a second,

120-foot-tall vertical anomaly
sitting

just behind whatever
this dome-shaped object is.

Whatever this is
is as tall as the mesa.

So now we're having
Aaron drill

from above
the dome-shaped anomaly

in the hopes
that from this angle,

he can penetrate it and reach
the vertical object behind it

to help us figure out what
in this world they could be.

I have one more question.
The, uh, the beacon

on the end of the drill--
is it always on,

or do you guys just turn it on
when you're looking to find it?

It's always on
while we're drilling.

And you're at 33 megahertz?

-Yeah.
-Okay.

So, when we're out drilling,
we have a beacon

that you run in with the bit,

and the locator will be
up on top of the mesa.

So it'll send
a signal up to the locator

and it'll tell how deep it is,
where it's at,

what direction it's going,
so we know

where that bit is at all times.

We're gonna look for that.

-We got to look for it?
-Yeah.

TRAVIS:
Aaron's drill beacon transmits

at a frequency of 33 megahertz

in order for the rig to track

the drill bit's progress
underground.

That's good to know.
We will also monitor that signal

with the spectrum
analyzer as they drill.

Thomas, I want you to,
uh, keep an eye

on the, uh, the gamma ray
detector fairly periodically.

-Okay.
-TRAVIS: In the past,
when we've drilled here,

we detected strange radiation
and energy frequencies,

most notably one measuring
1.6 gigahertz,

which I think could be some
kind of communication signal.

I just don't know
who or what could be

trying to communicate
or how it might be related

to these strange anomalies
in the mesa.

Yeah,
I say let's start drilling.

Yeah, I got 'em all working now.

TRAVIS:
During the drilling operation

we were using
our spectrum analyzer

to detect
various energy signals...

That's the beacon.

Now, this included

the drill beacon's 33-megahertz
signal,

which we were monitoring
for any changes

that might suggest some kind
of phenomena was affecting it.

THOMAS: Uh, just a minor note
to let you guys know

as we're about 160 feet in.

I'm gonna head up the mesa
to where I can get eyes

on Gavin and find out
how deep they are.

THOMAS: I'm getting more and
more excited with every foot

that we're drilling
into the mesa.

Last year
during our drilling exercise,

we discovered metal
that was forged,

that's not natural,
300 feet into the hill.

Really, I'm most excited
about finding out

what that metal is
inside the mesa.

Right now we're
just about right here,

-right below your feet.
-The drill bit's right here?

Yep. That's where it's at.
He's trying to work it down,

but it's...
it'll let him drill forward,

but he's not able to work
it down as much as he'd like.

Okay. What-what causes that?

Um, just really tight ground

or, um, other...

objects pushing him
in certain directions.

-So...
-Okay.

Guys. You got a copy?

Go ahead, Thomas. We hear you.

I'm up here on top with Gavin.

The drill bit is
approximately 40 feet

below where we're standing
right now.

There's something that's
been pushing the drill up.

If you remember last year,

there was something
pushing it down.

So he's been trying to turn
that drill and level it out,

and it's just pushing him
up higher and higher.

Similar to what
we experienced last year.

Just other direction.

Maybe we're on top of it

instead of the bottom of it
this time.

That could be.

Think Erik's gonna come up
and, uh, do some

experiments up there with you.

He'll be there in a few minutes.

TRAVIS: When Thomas told us the
drill bit was being pushed up

by something inside the mesa,

Erik and I wondered
if Aaron was just

scraping along the top
of the dome-shaped object.

So Erik took a handheld
spectrum analyzer up to Thomas.

We wanted to see if any strange
energy signals could be detected

when the drill made contact with
the anomaly inside the mesa.

When we try to approach
that point,

our bit is getting pushed down
or it's getting pushed up.

ERIK:
So he's hitting resistance
right now?

You can hear that drill's
hitting something hard.

Oh, yeah.

(clanking)

What's going on, Thomas?

After drilling more
than 270 or 280 feet

of going through sandstone
like butter,

the drill has encountered
a hard object

that it cannot penetrate.

-Wow.
-Well, if that's the case...

um, what I want to do is see
if I can pick up that beacon...

Travis, you hear me?

Copy that, Erik, I got you.

I'm looking
for the beacon signal

at 33 megahertz right now.

Copy that.

Let me go to that signal
and see... where it is.

All right. I think that's him.

See all that activity
right there?

Oh, what is that?

Something's going nuts there.

You see the small peak
in the middle,

that's the beacon
from the drill bit.

-Yeah.
-But these other--

the three peaks

until the drill bit hit
whatever it can't go through.

Tell Erik that
when the drill bit hit

whatever you guys
hit up at the top,

that the 33-megahertz signal

coming from the drill bit
amplified and spread out

all around it like something
was rebroadcasting it.

I see the peak at 33 megahertz.

As soon as the drill bit

hit whatever stopped it,

six other peaks appeared
on the spectrum analyzer

around the 33-megahertz peak.

And we've seen this before.

What's going on here?

There's a phenomenon occurring

right now
that we don't understand.

This small peak in the middle--

that's the, that's
the beacon from the drill bit.

KALEB:
Yeah.

TRAVIS:
But these other--
the three peaks

on either side were not there

until the drill bit hit
whatever it can't go through.

Right after Aaron Blunt
informed us that his drill bit

couldn't penetrate what
we believed to be the top side

of the massive dome-shaped
object inside the mesa...

Erik and I noticed that
the 33-megahertz radio signal

from the drill's tracking
beacon was being rebroadcast

into our spectrum analyzer.

The question was, what could
have been rebroadcasting it?

THOMAS:
What are you thinking right now?

I'm thinking metal.

Especially what,
what we just heard from Travis.

He said that when that drill bit
contacted whatever this is

that we can't get through,
all of a sudden

that beacon signal was coming,
blasting out

to his instruments.
Think about what that means.

He said he's hitting
something that's rebroadcasting.

Well, something that behaves
like a large antenna

would do that.

So, when it pushes up
against something metal,

it would actually act like a big
antenna and amplify it out?

Yeah, or a reflector,
I don't know.

Makes me want to pull
the bit back and do it again.

Try it over and over
and see if, in fact,

that same thing happens with,

with the instruments down there
where we're set up.

Well, it sounds like a, uh,
quick experiment.

-That something we could
coordinate with you guys?
-For sure.

-Oh, perfect, perfect.
-See if we can get
Travis on board with that.

THOMAS:
Hey, Travis.

Yeah, go ahead, Thomas.

We would like
to do an experiment

based on what you are
seeing with that amplifying.

We want to try something
where the driller goes

and pushes up against it,
let you see it, then backs off,

then pushes up against it
and then backs off.

And let you look at that
and see what you see.

I like that experiment a lot.
Let's do it.

All righty, so what we're gonna
have you do is

just pull back your bit.

TRAVIS:
Erik's idea was the perfect way

for us to test if whatever
the drill was hitting

inside the mesa
really was altering--

or rebroadcasting--
the 33-megahertz signal.

GAVIN:
Okay, and then

come back into contact
with what you're hitting.

AARON:
Here we go.

GAVIN:
He's going.

He should be coming back into
contact with it here right now.

Boy, it's suddenly
gotten strong as crap.

-KALEB: Hmm.
-Look how strong that is.

All right, so let's back away.

All righty, Aaron,

go ahead
and back it off completely

and then hold there
for a second.

Well, I can tell you, when
they pushed the drill forward,

the peaks went really high,

and now it seems
like they've backed off

and they've dropped really low.

That is exactly what
we're looking for, Travis.

Okay, Travis,
we're going to instruct him

to bring it back into contact.

Watch for that.

-All right, so now look, look.
-See, there it goes.

Look, look, look, look, look!

Holy cow, look at that!

Sure enough,
when Aaron pulled his drill bit

away from the obstruction
in the mesa,

the 33-megahertz signal returned

to normal frequency
on the spectrum analyzer.

But then each time
it made contact

with whatever is inside there,

the signal would be
amplified again.

Look how strong it got.

Man, it just really
started broadcasting.

I have no idea what could be
in there that would do that.

Could it be a response?

ERIK: What could cause the RF
spectrum to suddenly change

as the drill bit encounters
this apparently impenetrable
object?

We want to know, is this,
is this aggression?

Uh, is this an attempt
to communicate?

At this point it's speculation,
but it is certainly

very suggestive that
we're dealing with something

that isn't native to that mesa.

-There's something in there.
-KALEB: And we hit it.

And the drill cannot
punch through it.

There is something in there.

(metal squeaking)

Now, you hear that high-pitched
sound it's making?

Yeah.

AARON:
So, we're just hitting

something really, really hard.

I don't know if I'm
getting through this.

See, and we're
at 8,000 pounds of push.

-Yeah.
-Hardly any rotation off of it.

So either my bits broke off
or it's just

spinning on something smooth.

I've just been
sitting here, rotating on it.

-No movement?
-Nope.

And he even put his augers down
so he'd have more push.

So he can't push any harder?

Uh, not right now, nope,
not without breaking something.

-I got to tell Travis.
-Oh, my gosh.

THOMAS: He's officially at the
point he cannot go any further.

Well, that's exciting.
It means there is something

different in there,
and it does match the GPR data.

We need to figure out how
to get to it and see what it is.

Precisely.

We know we're on track.

And what we didn't know
from the GPR data

was how far
south and north it went.

I think we just got our answer.

TRAVIS: Well, I guess, uh, we
need to look at the spoils bin

and see what's in there.

THOMAS:
I agree with you.

I'm completely baffled
as to what it was

that was so hard,
we couldn't drill through it.

I'm eager to get this drill
bit pulled out
of the hill

and see what kind of
condition the drill bit's in.

I'm also really eager
to look at this spoils pile

and see, do we have
any metal shavings in there

like we found last year?

I want to hear
from this guy right here.

I mean, you do
this every day, all day.

AARON: It's hitting something
really hard and smooth.

8,000 pounds of push,
and it wasn't budging.

That's a lot of pressure.

What could be hard enough
to be pushing back on that?

I don't know, 'cause
we cut through everything

all the way
up to the top just fine.

I didn't move even a little
bit through it, so...

That's the thing.
What in the world is that?

Well, I want to see
what's in that pit,

'cause you might have got
some chips off of it

that it'd be
nice to see what it is.

I think we ought to get this
sucked out and go look at it.

Yeah, and I'd like to see
the end of the bit, too,

to see if it dulled it
or what happened to it.

Once we were done drilling,
we vacuumed all the spoils out

of the pit where the drill bit
entered the mesa

so they could be screened
for possible clues

of what this
dome-shaped object could be.

Meanwhile, Aaron began
retracting the drill bit

so we could see what
kind of damage it incurred

after grinding away
on that huge

impenetrable object
for so long.

AARON:
Here she comes!

TRAVIS:
Here you go, Thomas.

Getting this cleaned off...

these teeth
are all perfectly intact.

-It's not missing
a single tooth.
-Yeah.

I mean, it, it looks like
it's in perfect condition.

TRAVIS: You'd think, if you were
grinding that against

something for a half hour,
that it would dull it at least.

It should have heated up
and at least wore it down flat.

-TRAVIS: That's crazy.
-AARON: Yeah, that is.

TRAVIS: After all the grinding
did against

the top of the dome-shaped
anomaly inside the mesa,

it showed no sign
of damage at all.

It was like it had been
spinning on an invisible,

frictionless force field.

That's like the stuff
of science fiction.

It made no logical sense.

That's good.

Let's hope we have some.

TRAVIS: So, as the drill team
dumped the materials

that were collected
inside the spoils tank,

we were hoping
that once we sifted them

through a screen,
we'd find evidence that might

tell us what the object
inside the mesa could be.

THOMAS: It doesn't look
anything like what we did

-last year.
-KALEB: No.

ERIK: I'm not seeing
anything like those

large flakes
that we saw last year.

It looks to me like
it's something different.

We're going to have
to do some further analysis

on that material to compare it
or differentiate it

from the material
that we pulled out of the base

of the mesa last year.

I'll scoop
what's left here in a bucket.

If there's any trace of what
we ran into that was so hard,

if we got any of it.

TRAVIS:
The spoils didn't contain any

pieces of metal like last year,

but we'll still send samples
of the muddy material to a lab

for testing just in case they
aren't natural to a rocky mesa.

Hopefully, we can still learn
something about what could be

inside there, especially
since we detected a possible

communication signal when
we were drilling up against it.

This is a head scratcher, right?

There's something in the mesa.

The drill bit won't go through
it, though. That's the thing.

So I don't know,
what in the world

could that be
that you're putting that much

pressure on and you're
not chipping pieces of it off?

-Yeah.
-There's clearly
something there.

We've got three tests now
that tell us

there's something there.

We need to send these
samples out to be tested.

our drilling samples sent off
to the University of Utah

for testing, Erik Bard worked

try to get more data

down in the south field where
the purple light and the UAP

appeared during our experiment
a couple of nights ago.

THOMAS: I know we've got
that whole southern portion

covered but not very well
down in the trees, so...

Not in the trees.

This will help supplement
what you've already got.

with this mysterious

purple light in the southeast
region of the property,

we've decided
that we need to increase

our surveillance efforts
down there.

I've instructed our team
to install additional cameras.

These are motion-triggered
cameras that should detect

anything that emerges
in the field of view

should we see
any more of these purple lights

or any other light,
for that matter, emerging

in the space over the ranch.

THOMAS: Let's see what we can do
with this tree right here.

So, when that flash happened,
it was hard to tell

whether it was coming from...

up in the tree level
or whether,

whether it was
on the ground level.

And even though we could
capture some of this

with our other cameras,
I think having a perspective

right here at the ground,

if we,
if we see that flash again,

we're gonna know whether
it's coming from the trees

or if it really is
happening down on the ground.

The purple light's
something I just

keep reflecting back on
over and over.

What was it doing there on
the south end of the property,

and why was that UAP
we saw observing us?

KALEB:
If I remember right,

you were the only one
that really saw the flash.

Yeah, I was.

Is that why that UAP
was following me?

I'd really like to know
what it was doing above me.

We've been out here for years,

and it just seems like
there's always new questions.

Hey, Erik, do you, uh, copy?

There's an entire

big grove right here
that I don't

think that we have eyes on
from our cameras.

So we're thinking about
setting one up here,

facing the west.

That way, if anything shows up,
either tree level

or on the ground,
we'll be able to capture it.

I cannot see you

from any of the assets up here.

Yeah, you can tell that one's
been torn apart by something.

Mysterious animal deaths
and mutilations

have been documented
on Skinwalker Ranch for decades.

TRAVIS:
What in the world?

Four years ago,
a healthy young cow

died under very
mysterious circumstances

not far from the south field.

Was that black object the cow?

-ERIK: Yeah.
-TRAVIS: And later,

when we reviewed surveillance
footage, Erik noticed

a UAP in the sky
directly above the dying cow.

TRAVIS:
Oh, whoa, hey, look at that.

THOMAS:
I don't know. This is strange.

Hey, Erik, do you have a copy?

ERIK:
Yeah, go ahead, Thomas.

THOMAS:
Uh, interesting thing.

We got up here to the fence line
and found a dead deer carcass.

ERIK:
Any idea how long
that carcass has been there?

THOMAS:
I think that this animal

has been there for a long time,

but, uh, it's really hard
to tell.

Okay. Well,
we'll go and get this

camera up, and then
we'll check in with you.

There's nothing

What the heck would have

a burned branch on the shrub.

weirdest spot, too.

This has me baffled.

We find a burnt post

that's raising some questions.

Just this one spot right here.

And there just so happens
to also be a deceased deer

in this exact same area.

THOMAS:
That's definitely interesting.

KALEB:
Is a dead deer on the ranch

really out of place?
Not necessarily,

but it's hard to say
how this deer died,

so are they connected?

There's some circumstances here

that do raise more questions.

All right, so this is installed.
It's turned on.

So we're good.

We found a dead deer carcass,
and one

fence post along

this, uh, fence line

has got a pretty severe
burn scar on it,

about three feet off the ground.

But the plant around it
doesn't show any signs of burn.

There's no signs
of fire out here.

ought to come our way.

TRAVIS:

THOMAS: The fact that we're
seeing this dead deer,

along with this burn mark
down on the south side,

shows we really do need
to get more eyes

down on the south side.

You can see,
there's pieces of it

strewn all over the place.

Yeah.

TRAVIS:
After the cow died
four years ago,

we detected elevated levels
of gamma rays around it.

So I immediately
wanted to scan the area

for any signs of that.

So, you picking up anything?

TRAVIS:
No higher levels of gamma rays

-than usual.
-That's good.

TRAVIS:
Now, obviously this deer
was killed a while ago,

but given the strange UAPs
we had recently seen

right in this area
of the south field,

it was only logical to wonder

if something out of the ordinary
might still be the cause.

is just right over here.

TRAVIS:
It's really burned.

Let me look at it
with this Geiger counter.

Huh.

Nothing out of the ordinary
from radiation,

but that's real interesting,
and there's no other

-signs of fire around here...

...or nothing, right?

None of the trees
have been burned.

If you were gonna do that...

I mean, even if we
took a torch...

You'd have to torch that
for a long time.

-That'd be for hours.
-And

none of the rest of it's
touched, right?

So, just that one point.

You know what it looks like?
If something just flew

-and went right through it.
-KALEB: It's very localized

in that one spot.

That looks like,
whatever it was, it was so hot,

it just went (buzzes)
right through it.

That is just weird.

When I saw how burned

that one section
of the post was,

all I could think about was how

the purple light Thomas saw

over here the other night

must have been emitting
a lot of energy.

So, could it
have burned this post?

And could it be connected
to whatever killed the deer?

What's interesting, though,
is, we saw this strange light,

and right here the UAP
was following you,

and it led-led us

to find this burned post
that makes no sense.

THOMAS:
So, the one thing
about this area is,

we've got a lot of cameras
up on the north side,

they're facing this way,
so we've got

great coverage
up in the sky here,

but you see
this tree line right here.

I mean, if we had
a lot of activity,

we wouldn't capture it
on our cameras

because it would be hidden
behind the tree line.

Right here in this sort of
valley between the tree lines,

-right?
-THOMAS: Exactly.

So who knows
what's been taking place

on this side of the ranch.

We-we know we've been
watching the sky a lot,

but we haven't been keeping
as close an eye on the ground.

Well, we've got
this camera here now.

Maybe we'll capture
something with it.

I don't know what else we can
do here. I say we head back.

to look at this deer.

So, this is Haleigh.
She's one of our local vets.

-Hi, Haleigh.

BRYANT: We all know
that there's a history

of cattle mutilation
on this property.

In our investigation here
on Skinwalker Ranch,

animals we have here have been
attacked by something.

We got a deer down on
the south end of the property,

-or the remains of a deer.
-Okay.

BRYANT:
So, given the fact we found

this mysterious burnt post
next to this dead deer,

we decided to bring
Haleigh Lundgreen out.

She's a veterinarian
that is an expert

in looking at animal remains.

Let's head out.

And it just so happens

it's in the same area
where we had this purple light.

And so we want to know,
are they related somehow?

It's really strange, so we'd
like an expert's opinion.

So, pretty much
everything's in this area.

HALEIGH:
It's really scattered, huh?

KALEB:
Yeah.

Well, we'll start with the hide.

There are
some puncture holes here.

KALEB:
Are you thinking
that's from predators?

Or where do you think
that's from?

Uh, you know,
likely from coyotes.

-They're pretty close together.
-Okay.

HALEIGH:
Uh, it wasn't
the cause of death, though.

-KALEB: Hmm.
-I will say that much.

There's no, no bruising
under the skin

which would indicate
cause of death.

KALEB:
Okay.

And so, coyotes likely,
I mean, got after him.

-Got it after it was dead?
-Yep.

But I'm not seeing
any kind of bleeding or trauma

on the hide that would have been
while the deer was alive.

BRYANT:
Interesting.

The puncture marks
look like they had been done

after this animal had died.

What killed this animal?

It wasn't a predator
that killed it.

The question remains,

is it something we need
to worry about?

We have the pelvis here.

The spine's actually really
intact, all things considered.

If a predator had gotten this
when it was alive,

I would have expected more
damage to the spine as a whole.

BRYANT:
Okay. If you had to give me

your forensic expert opinion
as to what happened,

what would you say
took place here?

HALEIGH:
We have a, a young six-month

or under, uh, fawn
that died of something

that we're not sure of and...

-Not predator, though, correct?
-Not predator.

-Okay.
-Died of something
other than a predator.

And then was scavenged on
at least by coyotes,

that we can confirm,
and possibly some other animals.

Okay.

We're gonna have to really keep
a watchful eye

on everything in this area

and try
some different experiments

to maybe see
if we can really find out

what's happening in this place.

We're really grateful
that you'd come out here,

lend your expert opinion,
and give us

-a little bit more insight.

ERIK: Now, this is what
you guys imaged.

TRAVIS: So, that's the pink rock
inside the mesa.

THOMAS:
Yep.

And I am still puzzled by...

I mean, what are we
looking at here?

TRAVIS:
A few days after we had to halt

our drilling operation
inside the mesa,

we got lab results back
for two items

that we sent off
to the geology department

at the University of Utah
for analysis.

First was a photo
of the pink rock

that Dragon and Kaleb captured
with a snake camera
one week ago

in a crevice between boulders
near where the dome-shaped

and vertical anomalies
are buried.

And the second was a sample
of the spoils we obtained

while drilling up against the
top of the dome-shaped object.

The geology, geophysics guys
are-are giving us

their best guess
based upon these images.

They have a couple
of opinions on this.

So, uh, one of
the interesting comments

was that the pink coloring
seems to be like

a deposit on the sandstone.

-Really?
-TRAVIS: Meaning
it's not a mineral

that's through and through,
uh, like a chunk of it.

-ERIK: Mm-hmm.
-They think it's a coating.

-ERIK: Right.
-THOMAS: Mm-hmm.

ERIK:
Now, this is interesting.

"Possibly from vapor," right?

Oh, okay.

Okay, so the rest of the comment
was that the color

reminds this individual
of elemental selenium deposits.

TRAVIS:
Yes, it does.

Selenium is, uh,
a semiconductor material.

You find it in almost
every microprocessor chip,

every computer, uh,
you find it in solar panels.

-Really?
-Uh, and, in fact,

if you mix selenium with zinc,
and you get zinc selenide,

it's an optical material
that-that is being used

in military experiments
to bend light around objects

to create, uh, metamaterials
like a cloaking material

on a plane
to make them look invisible.

Oh, wow.

What would produce a vapor

that could leave
a selenium deposit...

-Uh, I'm trying to-- I...
-...on a rock?

Selenium is a solid material

-at room temperature
and pressure.
-ERIK: Uh-huh.

So, you'd have to get it
to whatever its boiling point is

to create a vapor to do that,

and that-that would
have to be hot.

So what would cause that,
I don't know.

And then let's say
maybe the anomaly in the mesa

may have been what caused that.

-BRYANT: Really?
-Yeah.

TRAVIS:
Zinc selenide is a compound

that scientists
and researchers at DARPA,

the Defense Advanced
Research Projects Agency,

are currently experimenting with
for possible optical stealth--

in other words,
cloaking applications--

on a number of assets including
soldiers' gear and uniforms,

tanks and even fighter jets.

But it's a pretty futuristic
technology at this point.

So, what the heck would
similar kinds of materials

be doing inside the mesa,
especially since

they appear to have been
artificially placed there?

Is it connected
to the dome-shaped anomaly?

What would cause that,
I don't know.

And I want to go dig
the mesa out...

-BRYANT: I know.
-...and see what's in there.

-I do, too.
-ERIK: I do have another image.

You guys all remember
that stuff that we brought down

from the drill site,
the material from the, uh,

the drill tip itself?

I think you took that off
of the, off of the drill bit...

-Yeah, off-- right off
the tip of the bit.
-BRYANT: Yeah.

I'll take you through
the elemental, uh, analysis

that was done from
the University of Utah

-geology department.
-TRAVIS: There's two lines here,

the drill tip mud
is the bottom one.

BRYANT:
Is there anything that jumps out
as if it doesn't belong?

ERIK:
Europium shows up.

TRAVIS:
Yeah, like when we got drilling

from last year at the mesa,

where we pulled out
metal flakes.

-Wow.
-You've got sodium, magnesium

and aluminum very abundant
in the drill tip mud.

This is, like, a very metallic,
conductive kind of mixture.

Which suggests to me again

that the things
that we got out of the bottom

were part
of a manufactured something.

This mud is leached material,

over time, right at the spot

where the GPR says
there's something there,

and right where the drill bit
couldn't go any further.

So it suggests
that whatever is there,

and whatever
that GPR anomaly is,

is something highly metallic.

-Yeah.
-Jan told us that

it didn't look like
a natural-occurring anomaly.

It looked like it was
some other thing

-that may be buried there
or something.
-Mm-hmm.

So all this suggests there's
a big metal object in the mesa,

so how the heck do we get
in there to-to tell for sure?

ERIK:
How do we feel

about simply drilling
with some portable apparatus

from the top of the mesa down
into that 40-foot-or-so level?

That seems like the s...

the first obvious thing,
right, Erik?

I mean, we could
at least give it a shot.

THOMAS:
Maybe we see if we can

-find us a portable drill...
-BRYANT: Yeah.

-...that we could
carry up there.
-I think-- I'm sure

there's got-- there's got
to be something.

THOMAS:
Okay. Well, I guess

we have our next step, then,
is, uh, focus on trying

to find some way
to drill down from the top.

TRAVIS:

that thing up the mesa.

We're seeing things that are

very hard for us to explain
inside the mesa.

This part of the
ranch continues

to defy our efforts
to characterize it.

At least it's gonna make us
work for the answers we get.

a story about
what's inside the mesa here.

Underground alien bases,
UFOs crashed inside there.

If there is an asset, an object,
an artifact inside the mesa

that could be
of great importance,

we need to know what it is,
and I'm fired up to find out.
