The Old West gave birth
to many newspaper stories,

but tonight
I'’m going to tell you one

that'’s really different.

Judge Clayton issued
a court order
closing the mine,

so I gotta nail it up.

Kessel here claims

I'’m Fred Hale.
I run the Kingston Gazette.

It'’s going to throw
a lot of people out of work.

Well, that'’s one of
the toughest parts of my job,

but if I find an unsafe
condition in the mine,

and have a chance to put
the operations back
on a paying basis.

The shoring could give away
and flood the whole mine.

and I don'’t have
that kind of money.

I didn'’t figure it would be
quite that high.

But I'’m ready to put up
the 40,000

for a controlling interest
in your mine.

I'’m not selling
one percent of that mine.

Now, I don'’t know
what Kessel'’s game is,

but there'’s nothing unsafe
about that mine,

and I'’ll blow it sky high

before I'’ll give into him.
