I think when the people

When I was younger and in my teens,

I used to sing on little stages,

but nothing even close
to this extent.

I used to do, like,
country music was my background.

So, I did Tamworth and all that.

Then when I had kids and then
they were obviously the priority.

And in the last couple of years
my husband's like,

"Get back into it, do more music.

"Like, do something for you."

I am 34
from Kadina, South Australia,

so a really small town.

And I, like, to be honest,
I-I did take a while to turn

because you had
a bit of a shaky start.

This is a massive thing for me.

My husband
and my kids are over there.

And I'm-I'm doing it for them.

I'm teaching them that,
you know, if you work really hard,

you can follow your dreams.

And I never thought that
I would turn a chair, so thank you.

and I've got so many

It was the first thing
I did outside of the Spice Girls,

you know, I was invited by
Brian Adams

to come and sing on the track.

I was on tour with
the Spice Girls in LA,

and I saw him in a lift
and I spoke to him

and he was so lovely
and my mum was there

and she's the biggest fan.

So, I asked him to come
and say hello to her

and we spent
the whole night chatting,

having a drink.

We stayed in touch
and then he recorded the song,

but he called me to come
and put the vocal on it.

But I actually said yes to this song

before I'd heard it,

which is like
the most ridiculous thing to do.

But I knew my mum would kill me
if I didn't work with Bryan Adams.

I absolutely loved that performance.

I'm 42 years old

and I'm from the Shoalhaven
area down south.

When I was two days old,
I contracted meningitis,

which left me
paraplegic from the knees down.

And I've been in a wheelchair
my whole life.

I don't see it as a barrier at all.

I feel completely comfortable
in my own skin.

And also I get to ride around
in a really cool wheelchair.

(LAUGHS) There's that too.

I started singing
when I was nine years old,

did my first professional gig at 15
and I haven't looked back.

I absolutely love it.

I can't imagine
my life without music.

I do what I do

because I like to make
people feel something,

and if I can make them feel good
and happy and-and enjoy their life,

and that makes me feel amazing
when I can do that.

I'm gonna be singing 'Age of Reason'

the John Farnham song.

I am the biggest John Farnham fan,

I reckon, in the country
and I love the song.

Look, it's a challenging song.

It's a power ballad,

it's a total breath
and vocal control

is paramount to be

where my team

I have a feeling you
and I have something in common.

We do.

That we're both
huge John Farnham fans.

I remember I was, I guess I was 22

when 'Whispering Jack' came out
and I remember thinking,

I think that's maybe
the greatest voice

I've ever heard in my life.

And I became this sort of
huge fanboy of John.

I ended up touring in Australia

about a year,
a year and a half after that.

There was a knock at the door
and it was John Farnham at my show,

and we ended up becoming friends
and writing together.

The thing about John
is his dynamics.

And I wanted to hear more dynamics.

For a competition like this

I think you got to show
different kinds of colours.

That said,
you have the instrument, man.

You have such power and love for it.

I feel inspired

just listening to you sing
and especially meeting you now.

Growing up, I came from
a very musical family.

My dad is a muso.

When we were very young,

myself pregnant.

I was 17.

It was scary, a scary time.

I mean, I was a baby myself.

My daughter means everything to me.

And obviously,
I wanted to put her first.

I grew up on a dairy farm
