My name is Ellaphon Tauariki.

I'm 27 years old.

I'm a youth worker.

So, a lot of the kids that
I work with struggle with school.

They struggle with education.

That's where we come in
to be a positive influence.

We jam music, play lots of sports.

Having been a troubled kid myself,
I'm able to relate to them.

I was definitely a troubled kid.
Was definitely rough.

I eventually ended up
homeless in 2015.

As a homeless teen, man,

music was my safe place.

I was at my lowest point
and she supported me

I do have a background
in Brazilian samba dance.

I was a professional dancer
for seven years.

When I used to sing before
I started dancing I was really shy.

So, when samba came into it,
it really helped me as a performer.

It's brought out that confidence

and the feeling

So, in my performance,

I do have a little surprise

My ultimate dream
is to become a First Nations artist
