I've been selling jewellery
for just on three years now.

It can be a party in your house,
you know, sort of like a,

Tupperware party or whatever.

It's high end fashion jewellery.
It's beautiful. As you can see.

Music to me is my passion

and I'd be really,
really lost without it.

I think my music and my style
and my voice

will definitel
take quite a few people by surprise.

I'd love to blow the coaches away,

I don't think
I've ever been as scared in my life.

Growing up I was really into sport.

My dream was to always play

Aussie Rules at the Top League.

That was kind of
where I was heading.

Last game of the season
I snapped my ACL, my MCL.

I've never experienced
pain like that.

I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.

While I was still recovering,
my twin sister Claudia

competed in the 800m at Paris 2024.

I'm so proud of her,
but it was tough knowing

this is kind of my dream over.

To just escape the pressure

and the stress
of trying to rehab my knee,

music became
such a big breakthrough...

and it really did cement for me,

music is definitely
what I want to do.

I guess with any performance

But for me personally,
I tend to get a bit shaky

Well, originally I really
wanted to be an AFLW player.

I love sport, I love footy.

Um but I unfortunately tore
my ACL and MCL ligaments.

I did that too. I've got a new knee.

Oh, yeah, it was horrible.

I then just went to music

and went to singing
and I love it so much.

And it's, yeah, my passion now.
So, yeah.

Yeah. This is my family.

My Mum, Sky, Claudie, my twin sister

who recently competed
in Paris Olympics.

What was your sister competing in?

Claudie was competing in the 800m.

The Athletics. So, yeah.

800. What's your time at 800?

A 1:58.4.

We're going. I used to run 800.

I used to,
I ran, I ran twos and eights.

I was the Irish champion at 200m.

Not bad, right? Not bad.

Anyway, sorry. Enough about me.
Gemma. That was incredible.

There was a lot of technical stuff.

I know you were trying to impress
and hit notes,

and that's what
you're supposed to do here.

You've got
a minute and a half to shine.

And you did it.

You know, there were some moments
that weren't perfect, but that's OK.

What other styles of music
do you listen to?

Kind of just a bunch
of everything, to be honest,

I love singing pop.

I was trained classically,
still am, training classically,

so I think that's why
you heard a bit of that in there.

Obviously, that's the foundation
of my whole career.

So, in many ways it's a no brainer
which coach you should go for.

You've taken the pop genre
and the opera genre.

Those two genres
have collided seamlessly,

and there's not many people
in the world who can do that.

There really isn't many people
that can mix that pop genre

and the opera, but she can.

That kind of makes you
a very obvious choice.

So, I think that puts me
in a very awkward position.

But luckily

for the Blind audition
is 'Nessun Dorma'.

It is a challenging song.

The difficulty
in this aria 'Nessun Dorma'

is the climbing high notes
towards the end.

You have to have the strength,
spirit all in one tune together

to achieve that
massive vincero in the end.

So, with my hope in my heart,

Have you done classical training?

I've done classical training, yes.

And I was probably 16 years old.

And I trained with my voice coach,
the baritone Antonio Fenicio,

until I was 23.

And unfortunately he died.

So, I was left without my mentor
and my voice coach.

You have a fantastic voice.
Yeah.

I think you probably could benefit
from going to see someone

and getting a little tune up
with that song in particular.

It's all about that final high note.

You can sing the rest of the song
better than Pavarotti.

But if you don't nail that
high note perfectly, you've failed.

And it's so much pressure

because you-you stand there
the whole time going,

"The high note's coming up."

And it-it you can psych
yourself out,

I'm just gonna share this with you
in case it's of any use.

But like for me right now, I mean,
I've got a few stupidly high notes

in my songs
and I-I what I tell myself

when I'm leading
up to that moment is

I'm not standing here on stage.

I'm in my back garden
and I'm with all of my friends

and I'm just showing off and like,

And so when you get to that bit.

it's a really nice
open environment and community,

also quite intense competition.

I feel completely at home.

The ocean is some sort of
healing factor.

quite vulnerable and beautiful.

I'm really gonna have to focus,
really feel the emotion in the song

through my hands and my fingers
and expressing it through my voice

to bring that side of myself
to the audience.

but I love it

I've just been able to learn so much

and I just feel so luck
