Just before I left Paris,

I received the letter
you forwarded me

from Mrs. Sutherland
in Inverness.

Apparently, Miss Walker
is no better.

If anything,
she sounds worse.

at some sort of breakdown,

although she gave me
no details

as to the nature of it,

and indeed, I got the idea

there was rather more to it
than she was saying,

though Lord knows what.
