I have only had one goal.

To leave my mark on Taiwan's history.

in Taiwan's democracy.

I want to be a true Taiwanese president.

It appears our goals align.

We can work together.

Each takes what they need.

I will give you the things you want.

But you have to give me what I want.

President-elect Wang Ming-Fang

is now holding a joint press conference

with Sung Chung-Jen at the Presidential Office.

During this period of transition

within the government,

Taiwan faces challenges both at home and abroad.

Now more than ever, we must unite as one

to defend against this enemy invasion.

My own son is now in enemy hands.

They have kidnapped Yang Ching-Teng

and demand that I sign the peace agreement.

But I will not.

Yang Ching-Teng has no choice

because he is my son.

To end Taiwan's political turmoil,

and unite against our common enemy.

I have made the decision

to name Sung Chung-Jen as Premier of my new government.

Together, we will establish a coalition government:

a united front, to protect Taiwan's democracy and freedom.

Safeguarding democracy and freedom requires sacrifice.

The moment I was elected president

I was ready.

My approval ratings need to go up

so I can solidify my control in the Parliament.

That's the only way I'll have leverage to negotiate with Sung.

Only then, will I have the power to save your son.

What do you want me to do?

Kidnap my son.

This is, I believe, the best decision that I can make.

Both for the next generation of Taiwanese...

and for my son.
