The thing
inside of me, it's like...

the appetite,
it's like a wolf that's...

feeling...
the hunger.

[dramatic chord strike]

While it's really
developmentally normal

for teenagers to feel
intense emotions

around their relationships.

And so when you think about
the unrestrained emotions

of teenagers
and the poor impulse control

that is a very natural marker
of being a teenager,

the front of the brain where

we have decision making,

where we have
measured reasoning,

is still very
much developing.

But the problem we have is that
they spun out of control

to a level that most teenagers
would never take it.

I mean, this could be
the perfect situation for Bargo

to take that first step
into engaging in a murder.

It sets the perfect stage.

He's already fantasized
about killing

and destruction of property.

It's on the course to being
an antisocial personality,

which eventually
can become psychopathy.

And then there's this issue
with Seath Jackson, where he was

challenged to a fight
and he stepped down.

What we see here is it could be
sort of a narcissistic wound.

It's a blow to his ego,
a tarnish to his image

that he's not living up to this,
you know, big, bold, brave,

you know, gangster image

that he's putting out
to these kids.

Bargo is manipulating all of
those around him into thinking

that he has some kind of power
that he actually doesn't have.

And he's chosen, right,
little teenagers as his audience

because he knows
that he can manipulate them

easier than his own
same-age peers

or adults that actually
live this life.

[dramatic chord strike]

Is there a level
of sadism here?

Potentially.

I think what Bargo is really
doing is, again,

eliciting the fear.

Fear is the thing that he gets
gratification from.

You can't get fear from
a dead body.

You can only get fear from
someone that's alive.

The more fear he can evoke from
these kids,

the more intoxicated he's going
to feel.

[Dr. Vienna]
I think at this point,
Amber's demeanor of being

so meek and mild and mellow,
and the soft tone, is really

trying to manipulate
the detective into seeing

her as the victim
in the whole situation.

She's giving accounts that
she was abused

and Seath
cheated on her,

but she's just trying
to create a narrative

that suits her at this point.

In looking at Amber Wright's
phone data,

what detectives
figure out is that Wright

initiates a text message
to Seath Jackson

on the night
of his murder.

And she says that she wants
to work things out.

She asks him to, quote unquote,
meet her at home.

Sadly, Wright's ability
to successfully manipulate him

caused him to walk right into
this trap.

So what she's showing us is
a much greater capacity

to manipulate people,
a much greater capacity

to utilize her femininity,
her sexuality, and her softness,

when she needs to access it

to get people to believe
she's credible

and that what she's
telling them is the truth.

Can we agree with that?

[Dr. De La Torre]
Is Wright demonstrating
a level of narcissism?

She absolutely is.

She's otherizing
both the two people
that are supposed

to be her friends,
including her brother.

She's still not willing
to admit that she is, in fact,

this thing.

She calls other people
murderers, but I don't think

she fully incorporates
her level of culpability.

She thinks that she did this as
a way of maybe placating Bargo,

or maybe as a way
of getting back at Seath.

But in her mind,
she never really thought

that she was guilty of a crime.

Detectives give her
an opportunity to
course correct,

to come clean at this juncture.

She doubles down
on being a victim,

on being the wronged party.

She now pins it on Bargo.

she's unwilling to attach
herself to any real culpability,

and she's promoting this idea
that she's a victim.

That is consistent
with somebody

who has a pattern of
failure to take responsibility.

Certainly we see that
in a variety of circumstances,

including with budding
psychopathic individuals.

[Dr. Sahni]
What we see with Bargo

is a more
criminally sophisticated person.

He's smart enough to know
that his best strategy

is to say nothing,
ask for a lawyer,

and let the investigators run
with the investigation

and do whatever
they were gonna do.

But what it also does
for a psychopathic individual,

it maintains control.

They are still
in the driver's seat,

and they're not willing

to play ball on
law enforcement's terms.

Bargo is accused of planning

and carrying out the murder

of 15-year-old
Seath Jackson.

Four others have already been
convicted of the crime.

Bargo is the accused mastermind
of the 2011 murder

of 15-year-old Seath Jackson
because of a dispute

over a girl, Amber Wright.

Investigators say
he and four others

lured Jackson to a home,
beat him and shot him to death,

then dismembered his body,
burned the remains

and concealed them
in paint cans.

[woman]
In fact, isn't it true

that the reason you
and Seath were feuding

is because she cheated
on Seath with you?

She never cheated on Seath
with me.

She never did anything with me.

[woman]
And you've come in here now
and you've made up this story,

about Seath raping her
and Seath beating her,

when that was not the reason
you guys were fighting at all.

I never made up a story.

I never told you something that
I didn't already hear from her.

[woman]
So somehow, again,

you're just a misunderstood
victim in this whole thing.

Somehow, I got dragged in
the middle of it.

He said that he pulled
a gun out on him

and started shooting,
coming from Seath,

that he didn't know
what it was.

So he said, what he told me was,
that he came too far

and it was -- it was too late.

He said he then shot him
a couple more times in the head.

He said they --
they freaked out.

He said the girls were crying.

He said he freaked out.

[man]
OK, what about, was there
a plan in this or anywhere?

No, he said that when he came
out, he was just there.

He just said Seath
was just there,

and he tried to get him
to leave.

He wouldn't leave.

[man]
What did you say
as a result of that?

I said --
I didn't know what to say.

I mean, he just told me
that Seath was there

and that
he wouldn't leave.

And he tried making him leave.

[man] Where was the body
at that point?

[Bargo]
When I came home,
while he was talking to me,

the body was already
in the fire,

that's what he ended up
telling me.

The jury, they don't need to be
lie detectors,

they can clearly see
that everything he is saying,

he's making up,
right then and there,

because his own
ego won't allow him to just

take responsibility
of this thing.

But the reality of narcissism
is that

it's -- it's made
out of sugar glass, right?

It's not real.

It can easily be penetrated
when confronted.

And here we have him
being confronted,

for actually probably
the first time,

already as an 18-year-old
who thinks himself to be a man,

who has been able to manipulate

little girls and little boys
all around him,

to be confronted by a woman
in which -- in this scenario,

it puts him on tilt,
puts him on edge.

He doesn't like that
he has to defend himself.

He doesn't like that he's being
challenged in this way.

One of the things
that I have to wonder is,

because the majority of these
individuals were teenagers,

they were young, young
adults, underdeveloped,

how much of

their willingness to
sensationalize the acts,

to enjoy the attention, to get
a sort of secondary social high

off of doing bad, is really what
fed their motivation.

That what we had was one person
in Mike Bargo,

who dropped some dye in a pool

and just watched it spread

in this very infectious way.

And Amber Wright comes along
and offers the justification,

gives a method that allows
everybody else's conscience

to get with the plan,

because Seath Jackson
is a problematic human being.

And that...

willingness to all allow
themselves to be involved

speaks to some disruption
in each and every one

of their development,
moral development, conscience.
