run.

An infant's in that vehicle.

She's got the baby and we're running.
Sound found from the accident.

And a pursuit that stops for some stunt
work.

You know, I don't know if this guy is
showboating or what he's trying to do

right there. Very dangerous situation.

We're counting down some of the
strangest chases caught on camera.

That's not good.

Kicking things off at number five, the
pursuit of a man who decides to play

postman.

This high -speed chase began one June
day, police say, after 29 -year -old

Allen Estep approached a woman and
threatened her with a can of mace,

the keys to her vehicle, and took off.

But it was the vehicle itself that
caught the public's attention.

While the suspect raced the large post
office vehicle

northbound on I -95, law enforcement
from four jurisdictions were in hot

pursuit, and witnesses couldn't believe
what they were seeing.

What you on?

Methamphetamine. Methamphetamine.

Okay. Okay.

Marijuana. Okay.

Molly. Okay.

Bill.

A little bit of everything right now.

Okay.

Sorry, man. Please don't worry about me.

Just like that.

I got him.

Good job.

Do me a favor. Sit up for me.

Stay right there.

He clipped the very end of my stick, and
that's why he darted over. Yeah, oh,

yeah. Did he have anything on him?

No. He didn't have anything on him.

We haven't been in a spray of pepper
spray. Are you serious?

Ethep was taken to a local hospital
where he was treated for acute drug

intoxication and bodily injuries before
being transferred to the Flagler County

Jail.

He was charged with grand theft auto,
carjacking.

Fleeing and eluding at high speed,
aggravated fleeing with injury or

two counts of aggravated assault on an
EMT.

Issa pled no contest to the charges and
was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

The post office recovered all of the
mail that was in the truck.

The police are chasing the mailman!

Although the next clip didn't make the
top five, it deserves an honorable

mention.

Sometimes when police are in the midst
of an investigation, the way an incident

starts is nothing compared to the
strange way it ends.

And one night in Oklahoma, police are on
a case that makes a big splash.

It's after 2 a .m. and police are
responding to an attempted robbery at a

convenience store.

The

cashier

describes how the robbery suspect fled
the scene with a female accomplice at

wheel.

Offers his race to catch up with the
van. It's unclear who or what is in the

rental, but it's moving.

Police track the truck for more than 30
minutes after bobs and weaves through

traffic before ending up on a dead -end
street.

Officers watch the van smash through a
fence and hear a splash.

And that's when they see the van half
-submerged in a swimming pool.

The van is empty, but the woman taking a
late night swim, fully clothed, denies

any involvement in the event that just
splashed down.

According to the drenched suspect, this
is not what it looks like.

Once

39

-year -old Destiny Livingstone is out of
the private swimming pool and cuffed,

police start the hunt for her
accomplice.

We've got one in custody, one
outstanding. We're getting ready to

Searching nearby woods with their
canines, officers tracked down the man

allegedly riding shotgun with
Livingstone, 31 -year -old Casey Haig.

Show me your hands now!

Hands on your back now!

What's this about?

You're going to get there.

But obviously we're out in the middle of
the woods.

Both Livingstone and Haig are arrested.

Livingstone is charged with attempted
robbery, eluding police and malicious

injuries of property under $1 ,000.

She takes the deal and pleads guilty to
an amended charge of accessory after the

fact, and the other two charges are
dismissed. She is sentenced to a total

five years in prison.

Pegg is charged with attempted robbery,
obstructing an officer, and falsely

personating another to create liability.

He also takes a deal.

and plead guilty to an amended charge of
attempted larceny and the falsely

personating charge.

The obstructing an officer charge is
dismissed.

He's sentenced to eight years in prison.

That's not good.

Liquor store robberies are fairly common
crimes.

Same goes for vehicle theft.

But the crime that 38 -year -old Joseph
Martin tried to get away with was

anything but common.

One spring in Anchorage, Alaska, Martin
robbed a brown jug liquor store. He

didn't try to pick the lock or even
break the front window.

He went to a nearby construction
company, stole a front loader, and used

smash through the front entrance of the
store.

Then, after grabbing multiple bottles of
alcohol, he decided to use the massive

construction vehicle to make his
getaway.

We're going at about 50 miles an hour.

After witnesses notified 911, Anchorage
PD tracked Martin down as he weaved

dangerously through residential
neighborhoods.

Are the tires such that we can put on
spike strips?

No, they're industrial loader tires.

We're not going to puncture them with
spike strips. The only thing we can

probably do is disable them with
buckshot maybe, but I'm recommending

that now.

We don't have anything that's going to
be able to pit this thing off the road

either.

Unable to get Martin to stop, officers
shifted their focus to minimizing the

potential damage to the public.

Let's start shutting down major
intersections as this guy gets close so

protect the motorists out there.

Then, suddenly, Martin made an abrupt
turn, preventing the police with an

opportunity.

He's got nowhere to go now unless he
goes through a fence. He went through

RV park.

Now, trapped in the RV park, Martin was
faced with two options, give up or smash

his way out.

So he can't just push right through it.

Joseph Martin was arrested, and as part
of a deal he pled guilty to and was

convicted of, vehicle theft was damaged,
burglary, and felony DUI with two prior

convictions. He was sentenced to seven
years in prison and three years post

-release probation.

After a burglar alarm goes off in a
residential area, LAPD gets a tip about

suspects driving away in a blue
convertible.

The driver is 20 -year -old Herschel
Reynolds, and his shotgun -riding

accomplice is 19 -year -old Isaiah
Young.

But when police try to stop the car,
Reynolds decides to hit the gas.

I didn't stop because I just didn't want
to deal with law enforcement, so, like,

what's the worst that can happen at this
point?

The car chase quickly captures the
attention of new helicopters.

Top down on the convertible. That's kind
of nuts.

Meanwhile,

Reynolds decides to try out his donut
skills in the middle of the road.

Doing donuts on the middle of Hollywood
Boulevard.

You know, I don't know if this guy is
showboating or what he's trying to do

right there. Very dangerous situation.

It was a more arrogant move. That's what
that was. I just thought I would never

drive again.

And when police are still unable to stop
Reynolds, a well -known Hollywood

tour bus tries to step in.

TFT, look at that tour truck.

Look at them. They are getting involved.

The bus just cut me off and was just
telling Isaiah, like, hey, man, throw

something at this guy.

That something turned out to be a bag of
raw chicken.

I got that chicken from my mom's house
that I was supposed to cut up and cook.

This car chase continues down Hollywood
Boulevard and through the Hollywood

Hills. These guys are just taunting
officers.

Eventually, Reynolds gets a call.

The sheriff's department contacted me.

They were able to get my phone from the
rental car company. I told him, hey, I'm

going to go to 51st and Central.

They're 15 minutes of fame. I come to a
sudden stop here. He agreed to meet me

there and agreed to tell the officers to
back up.

And so I was just trying to go home and
really just surrender peacefully.

By now, bystanders have seen the chase
on TV and try to grab selfies before the

police show up to arrest Reynolds and
Young.

This is probably one of the wackiest
ones that we have followed.

But Reynolds says getting arrested was
not worth his 15 minutes of fame.

I was younger than I am now, a lot
younger, and just made a mistake.

That chase could have easily turned to
something else.

you know, during or after or anything
like that. So I'm just grateful to just

safe.

Both men received one count of first
-degree residential burglary and fleeing

pursuing peace officer's vehicle while
driving recklessly and two misdemeanor

counts of hit -and -run driving
resulting in property damage.

The hit -and -run charges are dismissed
due to a plea deal, but both men are

convicted of the remaining charges.

They receive a sentence of two years in
prison, but are released on parole

approximately halfway through their
sentences.

The Texas Department of Public Safety
was kept extra busy one June morning

a traffic stop turned into a high -speed
chase with extremely high stakes and a

very strange ending.

It's going to be on US 90, an infant in
that vehicle.

29 -year -old Kaitlyn Rodriguez was
wanted on multiple warrant, and just

earlier, according to police, had fled a
traffic stop with her infant child in

the car.

All right, extremely high rate of speed,
I'd say at least 100 miles an hour

still. Traffic is light to moderate,
almost struck another vehicle passing.

Her criminal history already included
convictions for felony theft.

forgery, and prostitution, as well as an
arrest for aggravated assaults causing

serious bodily injury.

And now center median, third southbound
from 9th proper. I think the troops got

her. Texas Highway Patrol tried to stop
her with spike strips, but Rodriguez

kept driving.

Rodriguez tried to get into an innocent
bystander's car, but officers quickly

closed in.

As the woman driving the car exited the
vehicle and pulled her own baby safely

from the back seat.

Rodriguez was charged with child
endangerment, evading arrest and

a controlled substance.

She took a deal pleading guilty to
evading arrest, and the other charges

dropped. She was sentenced to six years
in jail, and her baby was released to

Child Protective Services.

For the number one strange chase, a
suspect goes on the run with a police

cruiser she was supposed to be secured
in the back of.

One September day in Lufkin, Texas, 32
-year -old Tasha Sponsler was on the

ground in handcuffs and under arrest for
suspicion of shoplifting at a beauty

supply store.

But Lufkin PD would soon find out that
Sponsler wasn't going quietly.

After she was put in the back of a
police cruiser, officers began to search

Sponsler's backpack for evidence.

That's when somehow she freed herself
from her seatbelt.

And then her handcuffs.

Climbed into the front seat of the
vehicle and...

Police dash cam from the stolen vehicle
showed sponsors POV as she raced south

on US 69 and led officers from four
different departments on a dangerous

-speed chase.

Eventually, Sponsor lost control of the
vehicle and spun out of control.

After a more than 20 -minute chase,
Sponsor was once again in custody.

Sponsor was charged with evading arrest,
evading arrest with a vehicle,

unauthorized use of a motor vehicle,
escaping custody, and aggravated assault

against a public servant.

She pled not guilty, but a jury later
found Sponsor guilty on all charges.

And due to her prior record, which
included convictions for evading arrest

burglary, She was sentenced to 45 years
in prison.
