Madonna. Madonna. When Madonna puts on a

show, it's a pretty big deal. The

Material Girl making history. Pop

superstar Madonna will end one of her

biggest tours with a free concert in

Brazil. It is a full-blown emergency.

Setting the record for the largest

standalone concert audience ever by any

artist in history. 1.6 million people

heading out for the material girl.

Singers Brazilian fans are already eager

to welcome her. Many have already

gathered in front of the hotel where she

is reciting.

I come from Switzerland. I literally

showed my boobs for you, Madon. I love

So he has the scheming and we have been

working on this show since October of

2022. I'm here because I wanted to talk

to you about

us and all that we've been through. This

was intense. Remember when we first met?

You didn't know who you were yet.

I didn't know who I was. We're doing the

show like over and over. More fun with

anyone else.

I have the same expectations of my kids

as I do everyone else. Expect them to be

professional, do their best.

Slay so much pride and joy seeing my

children performing as if they've been

doing it all their lives. Those who

Madonna is demanding.

You guys want me to work my ass off and

nobody else does the same [ __ ] Oh,

let's be real. This is like an elephant

for every song. Every song takes a

booty. Make it clap. It's hot as a B.

I'm so tired. There's been really lots

of high and then some down and some

moments that were just, you know, where

we even doubt that we could do this, you

know. So the fact that no it's we

finally got there is actually kind of a

miracle. We finally finished by real Rio

de Janeiro Cababana. I'm panicking right

now. Belgian stress. No, it's going to

be a great show. Prepare yourselves.

We're going to kill it. We're finally

the reason why we're not stressed and

we're not like anything like that cuz

it's just what we do. This is like the

dawning of the age of Aquarius. So, the

baby we're going to give birth to on the

Copa Cabana Beach

is going to be a mother bugger.

Well, I feel like this would be a really

great time to rip it all up and just

start

again. My name's Rob Sinclair. I'm the

lighting designer for the celebration

tour.

What we're doing here is we're taking

the existing show and adapting it for

outdoors where we have a lot of

practical concerns, making it feel

bigger, but also trying to create the

same feel that we've had throughout. And

of course, my main priority is to make

the doll look amazing.

The challenge of Rio is really the same

challenge as anytime you come to a new

venue is is that you walk in, you don't

know what you're going to get. You can

walk into audio heaven or you can work

into audio hell and you don't know. But

the thing you have to know is that

you're going to listen and you do

everything you can to improve it and

make it work. So in that

sense, no, I'm not concerned at all. So

we've been working on this for about 3

months now um together with our our

touring team who've been in America and

a local team here in Brazil to try and

recreate the stage show as well as we

can outdoors to give us some more

options. We're also going to show the

scale of the event. We have a lot of

lights around the stage, see both onto

an avenue and out to sea. And then we

have lights go a mile back along the

beach and all of those lights are going

to be programmed in with the stuff that

we have on stage. If we're in a moody

moment on stage, they'll be moody all

the way along the beach. If we're

strobing on stage, it'll be strobing all

along the beach. And if in the finale,

we're going nuts in bitcho. the lights

along the beach are going to be gone.

I think Rio is is is an incredible

opportunity to do something with scale

for a lot of people. The difference

being this tour has had people who've

traveled around with it, who spent a lot

of their savings to come to see it. Rio

is a really different proposition. Rio

is free on the beach. It's if you can

get there, you can get there and

experience something. So, here we are

backstage. On this side we have cameras

and the other side the sound. As we come

through here we start to see the

backstage all the quick change. We've

taken the whole touring stage where we

sit it on top of this structure. So this

whole stage is a meter higher than

normal. But basically because the the

show is so complex with the roots of the

stage and everything else, we had to

build this on a floor. So to make it

level so we're not sinking into the sand

etc. Then the other reason for raising

up the floor, at least in this area, we

want all the fans in between the

catwalks to feel the same relationship

to M. Here we have our follow spot. It's

recreating everything that means that

the lighting comes in for the same angle

as it does on the arena. The cameras for

the tour are all here. The stage gets

slippy. So, we had to carpet prepared

with knowing that we have to cover the

stage. So, tonight we will rehearse on

the carpet to the stage for the first

time. Right now, we've fenced off around

the site so that people can't see while

we're rehearsing the show night. All

these silver fences will be gone. It's

going to be a thing. It's going to be a

celebration

[ __ ] And my name is Rita. I'm a

Donna stylist and also costume designer

for a whole show.

Em has been doing this for 40 years. And

so being able to learn from her,

especially costumewise, you know, how

can we make something that's still

really amazing, but make it work so she

can change out of it in 10

seconds. The dancers represent her

entire life and have her represent her

entire life. It's been a really deep

dive into her history and even just

fashion history from the 80s until

current day. So, it's all a big

challenge, but I love the challenge.

Honestly, each look takes about three to

four fittings. This is an

understatement. No waste yet. Hi, I'm

the Brazilian frag in bling on it. Oh,

we're we're done. There's so much stuff.

We're not into suffocation mode yet.

This is the first layer. What helps give

the illusion of everything is all the

line and this doesn't have it. Yeah. M

is very specific. I need to make sure

that everything is right. cur hair, my

new corset, my new skirt. Everything is

right. Everything has to be right. And

it's never just, okay, we're just going

to put this on and go on stage. I'm

wearing it. By measurement, it's the

same. No, he has to fix it. He still has

sewing to do. You can go a little short

if you want. Mhm. I do. Of course. I

think it's sexier. Just like like this.

God is in the details. This is a serious

production and getting everything to be

absolutely perfect. And I really feel

like we achieved that. Looks fab.

Fierce, beautiful, gorgeous. Much

better. Hot. It's too stiff. Latina.

Well, it's cuz you have to. I can't

move. Rich. I'd rather be comfortable.

when? Fabulous is comfortable. Put

Maddie in it. Tell her to walk around in

it. Tell her to sweat in it. And tell

her to go to my gym and work out. Okay.

Working with Jean Paul Goautier was a

dream. You kind of just give him an idea

and he comes back with magic. And it was

so important to bring him into this just

because from Blonde Ambition till now

he's done I think every single tour he's

had him look for her. Versace did the

ray of light look which is so fun. And

she looks like this robotic alien that

just kind of came up from we don't even

know where. And we love Delara. Delara

is a independent young designer from

London. Madonna wears a lot of her

clothing. So we really had a great mix

of designers and we loved working with

them. It's been incredible.
