The embattled community of Binesizhaabose

which is engaged in a fractious election campaign

that sees its citizens divided over choosing

between a massive casino plan and a multi-million dollar

marijuana manufacturing operation,

found itself under siege today as the provincial government

raided, what is considered to be an illegal dispensary.

This is a frivolous harassment by the province,

which has no jurisdiction in our territory.

They're a lower level of government,

and they have backed off and been run off our land.

Mitch Nanibush, who is running against Chief Wasnoday,

sees things quite differently.

The community wants nothing to do

with this sort of thing right now.

I mean, we're in the middle of an opioid crisis.

Children are dying, for God's sake.

You know, they don't need more drugs here. We need hope.

These people need to be lifted out of poverty.

And my casino plan will do that.
