Hi, we're My Chemical Romance, and
you're watching Making of the Video.

The video is, we're in prep school, and,
uh, we're apparently the outcasts.

We're, like, these kids that are getting
pipped on in prep school. And we get

fed up, and then we go after them with,
uh, croquet melon.

We were getting treatment.

None of them really stuck with us, and
this treatment came in. The concept came

from Mark.

There was a very early idea that the
band had come up with where we were

to do it at a pep rally in a high
school.

And we thought it had been done quite a
bit. Then Mark came up with this really

good idea to do a video that was for
this fake movie.

Hey guys, my name is Mark Webb.

We're on the set of the video for My
Chemical Romance, I'm Not Okay.

As you can see, we're at a high school
here in Los Angeles.

It's a movie trailer for a movie that
we've made up. Today we're going to go

through a bunch of little vignettes like
you see in any sort of teen movie. It's

like a teen movie gone bad.

I hope you guys enjoy. Come along and
watch the video.

There was an Irvine Wells novel. He was
the guy who wrote Trainspotting. The

first page says, like, Four Tales of
Chemical Romance. It was a short story

collection. And he said, well, put mine
in front of it. It would be really cool.

And that was before there was even a
band.

We're from basically, like, north of New
Jersey.

We're on an indie label.

And then there was a lot of attention
pretty early, and we kind of shooed it

away because we really wanted to develop
and become a band on our own.

Well, we've been touring straight until
we made the record for about two years.

And then we made the record.

And then we didn't really go home after
we made the record. We started touring

again. So we've toured for overall,
like, 200 years.

We're extremely, like, aggressive live
and crazy and stuff. But, like, we also

have, like, you know, very positive
things to say.

And on the record, there's just, like, a
lot of hope on the record.

And that's kind of similar to Jack.

This is the scene where Gerard's a nerd
in Science Fest.

I was really good at science, too.

This scene is kind of like the credit
sequence. At the end of the trailer, a

of times they'll have the moment where
they recap all the characters.

Just little portraits.

Yeah!

I did a really creepy scene, like, where
I'm looking at a girl and I, like, try

to impress her by spinning around in a
chair, which is actually something that

think I came close to doing in high
school.

And then, like, I ate a crayon and now I
have crayon taste in my mouth.

Kind of funny, though. When you bite it,
like, do it, like, in a sexual way,

right? You're like... You know, like...

Like in Pop Gun when Iceman goes, that's
right, I am dangerous.

Like that.

When I was in junior high, I tried to
impress a girl by putting a piece of

rubbed candy in my nose and pretending
that it was a booger.

And then the thing just ended up getting
stuck in my nose and I had to go to the

nurse for her to pull it out.

My urinary tract?

I have to pee in something.

Mom, you boys finally made it

I'm peeing, and then I have to shake.

Now I have to pee.

I don't know, it's kind of weird.

So what are we still doing today?

Mikey has one more thing to do.

Put the thing in the PA or whatever.

And then we do that walk scene down the
hallway. This is when somebody

hijacked the intercom system.

It's the old school cassette tape deck.

None of this fancy MP3 shit.

It's all about the old school.

Basically what I'm doing is I'm
hijacking the loudspeaker and I'm going

our song in the intercom.

I'm going to play our jams in the
school.

Doing it all for the kids.

There you go.

And action.

I like how they have that, like, you get
the NASA thing. Like, what's up with

that poster of the dude, of the
astronaut?

How does that make it, like, a
principal's office? It just works. It's

We've only slept two hours last night,
so we're starting to get worn out. Yeah,

I just need to keep drinking some of
this and I'll be able to get through the

rest of it.

I'm kind of working on my life after the
band right now and my action film

debut. Apparently I'm the mean girl in
the video, yeah.

I'm not really sure what makes me so
mean. I have a feeling that...

I might have broken someone's heart. My
friend Frodo Baggins over here, I think.

He's used to being inside lockers.

And background action.

My God.

How was it for you, getting scared? Did
you feel scared? No, right? I was

totally scared.

Completely unexpected.

Even the 20th time that you jumped, I
had no idea you were going to jump out

the locker. Crazy. I was not the cool
kid in high school, let me say.

I guess that was my motivation, having
that actually happen to me. Not scaring

people, but getting shoved in those
things.

Yeah, there you go.

Great. Great.

We're setting up for a little waltzing
scene with all of our background

And Gerard's going to be sitting in the
chair singing over there a certain part

of the song.

The band's idea, they want to do an
homage to the Fisher King.

So, do you want me to go do it? Yeah, go
for it. So basically, the guys are
