Here's how it's going to work.
On this boat, referred

to by the Filipino people
as a Bangka

we've stashed some valuable items,
things that'll help you get

by over the next 39 days.

Some of them have short term value.

Others will be more useful in the
long run.

In addition, you have two stations,
one for each tribe where

you have to choose between two
sets of items.

You pick one.

You leave the other.

You have two minutes to gather
up as much as you can

and get it onto your rafts.

One thing you will not find on this
boat is, possibly the most

important of all, rice,

a very precious commodity.

There are two bags of that on
the island, perched perfectly on top

of two wooden structures,
one for each tribe.

Here's the thing.

Only one tribe gets to keep
their rice.

Of course, that would be the tribe
that gets there first,

the tribe that wins this challenge.

So, Mindanao, Luzon playing for
reward.

The first thing that I grabbed
was a pair of fins,

We didn't sleep.

There wasn't enough space
for all of us, so we all laid,

squished and then it started

It was fun. We had a lot of time to
bond

and get to know one another,
but it was rough.

None of us were surprised that
we didn't have a fully built shelter.

We didn't have fire.

Here's how it's going to work. On my

from each tribe, two at a time, will
make your way out

to the structures in the water
to retrieve bags and sticks,

which the next two tribe members
will use to construct a pole.

One of you will take that pole, move
to the cage where you'll retrieve

a key, unlock the padlock
that gives you access to the cage

and the flint inside.

You take that flint and make
your way to the last station

where you're two fire makers
will come and build a fire

which needs to burn high and hot
enough to break the twine.

You take that torch, light
it in the fire.

The first tribe to set the Survivor
logo alight,

wins this challenge and tribal
immunity.

And then this team needs to build
itself again.

it's interesting how everything's
sort of just initiated.

I've had a couple of conversations
myself.

he's not someone who's going to
flip.

..cos I mean, not all the challenges
are physical.

to an agreement

that means that some are not part

Up until this point, I think we've
all been hoping sneaky

that we were playing Friend Island
and tonight it got really real

with it actually being Survivor
and day one of playing the game.

How have things been for you on
Friend Island?

The past day has been quite rough.

I've been tossed around.

Pushed around.

I honestly felt really nervous.

And as things progressed paranoia
took effect.

Before I knew it, I was completely,
completely confused.

That's what Survivor does to a
person.

The fact is, when you have to go
to Tribal Council, there's nothing

friendly about it.

We're all aware of that, right?

Neil?

The priority for me getting into
play the game, the priority was

try to keep the tribe as strong as
possible.

But out of that, I could see
that a division was being created.

And when I found out how
the division was being created,

I thought that was a negative
for the tribe.

So a division has been created
and you know

who created the division?

Well, from hearsay I know
who created the division.

And that's just based on hearsay.

Hearsay is such a dangerous thing.

Well, Seamus' name has been bandied
about

as somebody who's been approaching
people.

I felt it was too early.

But the great thing about what
Seamus has done,

he's brought people's characters
forward so quickly.

And I will be the first one to say
my original perceptions

of people have been absolutely
wrong.

Even people I didn't perceive
to be physical.

But now they're talking to me.

And right now I know so much
more about this tribe

than I did when we sang Kumbaya.

Seamus, back home it takes us years
to surround

ourselves with people that we trust.

You don't have that luxury here.

You need to get through that process
very quickly.

How do you go about doing that?

At this stage in the game, trust is
earned, and the only way

to earn that is to put pen to paper
and place your vote.

Being the first Tribal Council for
this tribe,

the way you vote is going to
establish

the alliances going forward.

in and have made plans with,

I'm a huge fan of the show

and to go out first is, obviously,
heartbreaking.

I think I just I came in

a little bit too hard

played the game a bit too strongly.

I should have pulled the reins back

from the beginning and realized,

you know, these people don't

want to play the game hard.

You came out running instead of

crawling and then walking.

I was outplayed, outwitted

and, obviously, outlasted.
