Around the world, there
are tales of strange creatures.

There have long been
legends of monstrous

blood, thirsty wolves.

Hey, hey.

From an evil entity
allegedly caught on tape.

Doesn't look like an
earthly sort of creature.

To goblins in Kentucky.

This is a very creepy video

and I've never seen anything
quite like this before.

To a dinosaur
in a backyard.

It's a raptor or some
type of a dinosaur.

And whatever is
slithering around our sewers.

It's large, it's
slimy and black,

it's crawling out of a toilet.

Malaysia is pretty well known
for blood-sucking invertebrates.

Are these
legendary creatures

more fact than fiction?

I knew exactly what
we had on camera.

It's very typical of what
witnesses say

Bigfoot walks like.

On this special
episode of,

"The Proof Is Out There:
Unexplained Edition",

our team of experts will
investigate strange species

from around the globe.

Then, we'll pass a verdict.

These videos are
astonishing and unbelievable.

The proof starts now.

Good evening and welcome to
"The Proof is Out There".

The Philippines is a country
rich in history and legend,

but by far its most famous

and feared local creature

is an evil shapeshifter
known as the Aswang.

Tales of the beast go
back 500 years at least,

but sightings still happen.

Two of them occurred just last
year and fortunately for us,

they were caught on camera.

Pavia Iloilo, Philippines,

a CCTV security camera rolls
on a warm July evening in 2021.

The camera captures a
dimly lit street

where a woman later identified
in the news as Mary Lou

sits in front of her
home cleaning dishes.

Unbeknownst to Mary Lou, a
stranger approaches from behind

then quickly and as
quietly as she arrives,

the woman continues down
the street, reaches a tree,

then she seemingly folds
over dropping to the ground.

The woman begins
to crawl on all fours

back towards Mary Lou.

Terrified, Mary Lou stands
up and threatens to throw

a bucket of water at her.

The woman turns and runs away.

Watch again.

This moment, some people say
she doesn't just bend over,

but transforms.

A week later, another alleged
sighting in the same village

captured on a
second CCTV camera.

This time the person or creature

switches between
crawling and hopping.

As we push in, we see
a woman exiting her home

then jumping back in shock.

It doesn't look like an
earthly sort of creature.

The legs are bent
in weird directions

and there's this long
neck right there.

One of the many
stories about Aswangs

is that during the day, they're
just like people in your village

that you may even know.

But after nightfall,
they shapeshift.

They have this proboscis
tongue for lapping of blood

and they go down on all
fours and change their shape

and turns their legs
around in weird positions.

Aswangs are said to be
responsible for miscarriages

in the community or
really anything bad,

like a child
dies of some disease.

It's kind of the
catchall boogieman.

If you want your kids to behave,

it's like don't go out
there, Aswangs are out there.

The Aswang are believed
to take the forms

of vampires,
weredogs and witches.

It said they can be
warded off by salt,

ash, or urine depending
on whom you ask.

Is this mythical creature
what we're seeing here?

We'll need to ask our experts.

This creature appears
to be quite flexible

in its mode of locomotion.

It appears to be hopping
and transitioning

between being
quadrupedal and bipedal,

unlike what's been
reported for the Aswang.

Next, he turns
to the creature's anatomy.

In my opinion,
the body proportions

are very similar to a human.

The hind limbs appear to be
much longer than the fore limbs

and the feet are
pointing forward.

When we line up
these proportions

with that of a human, that
certainly looks like a match.

As for the head...

The head is rather
obscure in the image,

but it looks as though
it actually removes a hat

as it exits the video.

This could be a hoax because

as the creature
comes to this tree,

it pops up and
it looks over to see

if this person is coming
out of their door.

That is more human-like

and because they wanna
make sure they're seen.

If it's a fake,

Strain thinks it might be
serving a higher purpose.

Folklore has a
place in society

to teach certain skillsets
or certain beliefs.

We tracked down the
guy who made the second video

and he admitted he
staged the stunt

after being inspired by
the first Mary Lou video,

not for fun, but to help with
COVID quarantine compliance

during the pandemic.

After I saw that video,

I was thinking that it might
be a inspiration for me

to do the hoax

and so I did the video for
the community purposes,

just to force the children
to stay inside of their home

because it was in the
midst of pandemic.

This actually the mask
that I wear on that time.

So that may
explain the second video,

but what about the first
one that inspired it?

Is it possible that an
actual Aswang is responsible

for terrifying Mary
Lou in the alley?

When this lady
comes back towards her

and gets down on all fours,

she's behaving like
a typical Aswang,

according to Filipino folklore.

She's now gone into
a different state

where she's no longer human.

And her trying to get closer
to her without being seen

indicates to me that she
meant that lady harm.

But you don't have a clear
view of what she looked like

when she was totally
down on the ground.

It's kind of dark,
she's behind a fence.

I'm willing to say that
I don't really know

what happened there.

So we have a split decision.

We know the second
clip is a hoax,

but we can't say that for
certain about the first.

Aswangs are traditionally women,

and while we don't know
this woman's intent

or state of mind,

we do know she was crawling

and Mary Lou was
genuinely frightened.

We'll stay on the lookout for
any future Aswang sightings.

Next we head to the
great state of Kentucky

known for its horse racing,

its bourbon and its barbecue,

but it's also
becoming quite famous

for its frequent sightings
of both UFOs and goblins.

As our next story shows,

there's something
strange happening

in the Bluegrass State.

July 5th, 2022,
Morehead, Kentucky,

65 miles west of Lexington,

a warm summer's day turns
to night in the backyard

of Douglas Windsor McCloney III.

Doug's security cameras are on
duty when they capture this,

a mysterious pale
figure appears.

It's lanky, yet
hunched and lurking

near the back garden of a home.

The figure moves
slowly, carefully,

as it seemingly looks around

while approaching
the owner's car.

For some, this ghostly
gremlin is reminiscent

of the state's most infamous
cryptids, the Kentucky goblins,

which traced back
to a famous incident

on the Sutton farm near
Hopkinsville in 1955.

According to
several eyewitnesses,

these strange short statured,
silvery humanoid creatures

appeared on the scene

very similar to what we're
seeing in this video.

The Sutton family actually
blasted one of these goblins

in the face with a shotgun

from point blank range

with literally no effect.

Now the
Hopkinsville goblins

were allegedly connected
to a UFO sighting.

In fact, many speculate they
could be members of the Grays,

the widely reported
humanoid aliens made famous

by incidents like Roswell.

But others suggest
Kentucky's goblins

don't come from the skies above,

but from deep under the ground.

Mammoth Cave
National Park in Kentucky

boast one of the largest
cave systems in the country

and it has been speculated

that these goblin-like creatures

came from deep in the earth.

As you can see, the
body of this creature

is very humanoid, but
when it gets close

to these parked vehicles
right here, take a look.

It appears to be
much smaller in scale

than your average person.

One could even say
it is goblin sized.

Let's see what
our experts think.

Animals that have adapted
to live exclusively in caves,

they don't need to
produce pigmentation

to protect themselves
from the sun.

So they will often be
light or white colored,

which is what we see
here in this video.

Anatomist Jeff
Meldrum tries to determine

if this tiny driveway demon

could possibly originate
from off world.

It looks otherworldly
on the basis

of the very uniform
appearance of its coloration,

its texture, and it has
very spindly appendages,

very narrow arms and legs.

I don't immediately see

any definition of hands or feet.

Well, the creature
is undeniably strange looking,

Meldrum doesn't think
it fits the profile

of a Sutton farm
invaders or the Grays.

I've never seen an
eyewitness depiction

of a Gray describe that posture.

This crouching,
sculking figure.

I would investigate with
people much more knowledgeable

about the technical aspects

of that sort of a video.

So that's
exactly what we did

by taking this video to
our forensic video analyst,

Michael Primeau.

Digitally, this is a
completely different format

than what was
originally recorded

by the surveillance system.

And so is this
an authentic video?

It's inconclusive.

We don't have any original
properties about the video

and whether or not it's some
sort of extraterrestrial

is difficult to say.

Our verdict, we're calling
this an unidentified creature.

It certainly could be a hoax,

but without more data
about the footage,

our forensic video analyst
couldn't say for sure.

But I gotta say, Kentucky,

goblins, aliens and bourbon,

we couldn't do the
show without them.

We've all been taught
dinosaurs went extinct

more than 65 million years ago,

but what if they still exist

and are running wild
in our neighborhoods?

Sounds wacky, I know,
until you watch this.

April, 2021,
Cristina Ryan is asleep

in her home in
Palm Beach, Florida.

But while her eyes are shut,

her home security
camera is wide awake

and it captures
this wild footage.

The video just
four seconds long,

shows an animal running
across the front yard

in the dead of night.

Let's slow it down
and take another look.

It's hard to tell
exactly what this is,

but there is no doubt
in Cristina's mind

about what her camera recorded.

My immediate thought
is it's a raptor

or some type of a dinosaur

the way that it's running
and just the entire shape

and everything indicated
to me, dinosaur.

It appears to have
a kind of a long

and powerful sturdy tail.

This is kind of the
the classic image

of a small bipedal
therapod type of dinosaur.

As crazy
as it may seem,

Gerhardt shares that there
are many modern day accounts

of living dinosaurs just
like Cristina Ryan's

right here in the US of A.

In southwest Colorado,

there have been many sightings
in they're referred to

as river dinosaurs
or river lizards.

These are basically
smaller types

of theropod-like dinosaurs,

just like we're seeing
in the Florida video.

There are also traditions
in southwest Texas

of tall bipedal lizards
called mountain boomers,

larger versions of a
known smaller species.

These sightings are
fleeting, but they do happen.

So is it that crazy to think

that other dinosaur
species could be alive

and well in Florida?

Let's ask our experts.

Because it's moving
at a high rate of speed

and the encoder is
not set to capture

that information
with a high quality,

it's essentially blurring
and elongating some of that

with motion trail
compression artifacting.

The pixel information
that was captured

was not captured with accuracy.

So Primeau says the
footage hasn't been altered,

but it still may be
distorted in the camera.

The tale of this creature
may not be what it seems.

So we brought in our resident
zoologist, Roxy Furman,

who reminds us
where this happened

and why that may be a clue.

Florida is famous for
its exotic pet trade

and also they obviously
have gators in the region.

The way it moves
could be reptile like,

it moves kind of side to side
in this waddle like manner,

but its body pattern has
no indication of scales

or any different coloration
or variation along the back.

So for me, that kind of rules
out any kind of reptile.

That would eliminate
giant prehistoric reptiles

like raptors too.

So if it isn't a dinosaur,

then what is it?

What I think is most likely
is a dog that's got loose.

You can see the tail
running behind it.

The tail
looks like a lizards

due to the picture distortion
Primeau identified.

And it also looks
like there's something

kind of dragging like a leash.

And that would also explain
kind of this white area

that we see around the head,

which would most likely
be a reflective collar

and it's just kind of running
through someone's garden.

So our verdict, this
is just a dog on the loose,

not a runaway raptor.

But again, thanks to
Florida's laid back,

exotic pet regulations,

gigantic lizards have gotten
free in the Sunshine State.

So there's a chance Christina
might capture some footage

of a living dinosaur
descendant any day now.

It's been said that Bigfoot
exhibits nocturnal behavior,

perhaps to hunt or
to avoid detection.

But the cloak of darkness
couldn't hide the creature

in the stunning footage
you're about to see,

captured by two campers,

armed with a night
vision camera.

It's May 2012, near the
town of Quincy, Florida.

Retired Army Ranger Stacy
Brown Sr., now deceased,

and his filmmaker
son, Stacy Brown Jr.,

are camping in
Torreya State Park

on a search for the
elusive Bigfoot.

They start hearing some noises,

so they pull out their
FLIR thermal camera

and head off down a trail.

We would hear something
running on our right

and then we would hear
something running on our left,

and it just had
stopped real quick.

And then Dad looked up at the,

you know, up at
there at the tree,

and he's like, "Oh,
I see something."

The thermal
camera is rolling

as Stacy Sr. notices
a little black object

sticking out of
one side of a tree.

Then it takes off
and crosses this gap,

and he goes into
full-blown panic mode.

The camera goes dead.

He's like, "We gotta
go, we gotta go."

He's like, "Do
you got your gun?"

Back at their truck,

Stacy Jr. gets a first peek
at this eye-popping footage,

and this money shot

that looks just like the
iconic lookback frame of Patty

from the famous
Patterson-Gimlin film,

which claimed to capture
Bigfoot strolling

alongside a northern
California creek in 1967.

I knew exactly what
we had on camera.

It was proof to me and my dad,

because who on a Tuesday night

is a mile and a
half into the woods

running around
with no flashlight.

Noted Bigfoot
investigator Steve Kulls

says he's not
surprised by the area

where this footage was captured.

In Florida, they have
something called the skunk ape,

and there's been a lot of
sightings over many years

of what they described as
a Bigfoot type of creature.

What they call that
is the skunk ape,

partly because it smells skunky,

but for all intents
and purposes,

it's the same
thing as a Bigfoot.

It's not quite as big or robust

as the ones in, say,
the Pacific Northwest,

but that is kind of expected

due to the climate being
a lot more tropical.

These swamp sightings go
back to the native tribes.

The Seminoles and the Muskogee

called the creature
Este'Cvpko, or Tall Man,

and claimed he was the
protector of the forest.

So could this be what
the Browns encountered?

We turn to our
experts for answers.

We first ask the most
obvious question,

could this just be a person?

It was shot with
a thermal imager,

and so it's picking
up the heat signature.

Typically, if any
clothing is being worn,

it masks the
intensity of the heat

emanating from those
covered parts of the body.

Honestly, I don't
see any of that.

It's just a pretty
uniform signature

that would suggest a
body a la naturelle.

But why would a
person be walking around nude

in the woods?

It looks to be
like a large primate.

But it doesn't seem to
match the body structure

of the living apes,
of chimpanzees

or gorillas being the
most prominent ones.

It seems like its
legs are too long,

and when gorillas walk
on their hind legs,

they're not hunched
over like that.

They're more upright.

Some have theorized
that gorillas or large chimps

could have escaped from
one of the private zoos

that have littered
Florida over decades.

The way it comes
out of the trees

is what we call a groucho walk.

It's very typical of
what witnesses say

Bigfoot walks like.

You can see it on the
Patterson-Gimlin film.

You can see it in other examples

where it's this
strangely bent knee gait.

It seems to be out
of human proportions

in the sense that
you can't see a neck.

It has very beefy-looking arms.

It has interesting
legs that seem shorter

than what you would
see in humans.

Whatever this
was was pretty big,

in excess of 6, 6 1/2, 7
feet in height, perhaps,

and quite bulky.

It appears very substantial.

That is, the arms and
the legs are not spindly.

They appear to be
thick and muscular.

Or could this
all just be a hoax?

In order to have
this video be credible,

I would expect to see a
lot more thermal imagery

through the trees.

I wouldn't expect it to
just completely disappear.

Stacy Brown Jr.
claims the reason the clip ends

is because the camera
stopped working.

So what does Meldrum think?

I know Stacy,

actually, personally, and
have visited with him.

I have no reason to suspect
that he contrived this.

And so the only other
question would be,

is anyone foolish
enough to trapes around

butt-naked in the dark?

Our verdict? Unknown creature.

Given that this footage
was filmed at night

with an early-generation
thermal imaging camera,

we don't quite have
enough information

to reach a definitive answer.

But whether this was indeed
the Florida skunk ape

or merely a subspecies
of Florida man

with a proclivity
for nocturnal nudism,

we can say this:

the situation definitely
warrants further investigation.

Giant menacing canines
have been featured

in literature for ages.

Arthur Conan Doyle wrote "The
Hound of the Baskervilles",

about a murder supposedly

committed by a huge dog.

Stephen King's "Cujo" centers
on a rabid St. Bernard.

All works of fiction,
or so we thought.

Who's afraid of
the big bad wolf?

Maybe you should be.

September, 2018,
Saskatchewan, Canada.

A local fishing guide is
going about a normal day

in his lodge when
he spies something

strange out his window.

Something dark and hairy
is huddled on the ground

amongst the trees.

At first it looks
like a small bear

and then it stands in
nearly triples in height.

It's a huge wolf

and we only understand at scale

when it lunges at
the regular sized dog

who's defensively barking.

The animals quarrel until
the man goes to intervene.

Hey, hey!

Let's see that again.

This large shape
suddenly becomes animated

and springs up

and charges at the dog.

And much to my shock and horror,

it appears to be a wolf of
mind-boggling proportions.

It's truly monstrous.

There have long been
legends of monstrous,

blood thirsty wolves.

In France, we have
the Beast of Gévaudan,

in Alaska, there's something
known as the Amarok

or demon wolf.

And nearby in the
Nahanni Valley of Canada,

we have something
known as the Waheela.

The Nahanni Valley is also
known as the Headless Valley

because the decapitated bodies
of prospectors and trappers

have been found there and
have been linked to the legend

of this giant wolf-like Waheela.

So we have these long, enduring
traditions of giant wolves

and we have to wonder if there

might be a grain of truth
to this legend.

Some have
speculated that this wolf

might be more familiar
than we think,

a creature not from
the realm of legend,

but from our own pre-history.

The largest gray
wolves, canis lupus,

have been known to achieve
weights of about 200 pounds.

But if we go back
over 10,000 years ago

to the Pleistocene Epoch,

there were these monstrous
bone crushing wolves

known as dire wolves,
aenocyon dirus.

A relic population
of dire wolves

may have survived as
recently as 4,000 years ago

in Arkansas's Ozarks.

We could be dealing with
a dire wolf genetic code

that's been locked
into modern wolves

and is now resurfacing in
this remarkable individual.

An interesting note about
that French Beast of Gévaudan.

Though that monster wolf
lived on and kept killing

after being driven
off by a young boy,

that kid was rewarded
for his bravery.

King Louis the 15th
paid for his education.

Now let's get the educated
opinion on this specimen.

Could there be something off
about this wolfs genetics?

Some sort of mutation?

There is a phenomenon
called an atavism,

where a creature has
traits from its ancestors

preserved in its genes.

However, it's
unlikely in this case

as atavisms aren't
likely to manifest

in the form of a canine size.

An extra toe is more likely.

To me, it didn't look
like the dog was in danger.

That was really suspicious.

So that's what makes me
think that it was CGI.

It's my conclusion that there
is no additional information

that was introduced
into these recordings

that would be
similar to something

that was CGI'd or manufactured.

With the clip
appearing to be legitimate,

biologist Floyd Hayes discusses
the creature's resemblance

to the dire wolf.

The dire wolf is a little
bit larger than a wolf

with a larger head
and smaller feet.

What's more, the dire
wolf head's shorter,

stockier legs to
keep them warmer

during the cold winter months.

The wolf we see here is
proportion much more similarly

to our modern day canine.

So with all other
possibilities unlikely,

Hayes says it's
just a gray wolf,

but there's a surprise,

he did a size calculation

and found the specimen to
be one of the largest wolves

ever documented.

Hayes says the dog looks
like a type of husky

which tend to grow a
little over two feet tall

and around 60 pounds.

And the wolf looks about
one and a half times larger

than the dog here.

Hayes guesses this wolf
is about 3 feet tall

and 6.5 feet from end to end.

That's longer than
most men are tall.

And what's more,
it's nearly a record.

Compared to the largest
wolf ever recorded,

Hayes thinks this is only
half an inch shorter.

So this wolf is truly a
gargantuan, incredible.

Our verdict, an actual
wolf who just happens to be

quite large for his species.

This is not a supernatural
creature, but he is an outlier.

How he got that big
is still a mystery,

but we know he's a loner

who probably branched
off to form his own pack.

You probably don't think
about potatoes too often,

but the average American eats

about 124 pounds of them a year.

They could be fried,
mashed, or roasted,

but how would you prepare one

that appears to be crawling?

July, 2018, Portsmouth, England,

a resident of the town is having
a small problem with pests.

But when she goes to check
an ant trap, she finds this.

Look closer, the
internet is buzzing with claims

this is some kind
of potato creature.

But looking at the ant trap,

it looks like an awfully
small potato to us.

Observe how it resembles
an undulating corn dog.

The really strange
thing about this creature

is this long, rat-like tail.

That is something
that I've never seen

admittedly on a
caterpillar, grub,

larvae or anything else.

It's like a potato
with a long tail.

And keep in
mind this tailed potato

is being filmed in a country

crawling with strange sightings.

One example, the Canvey
Island Monster of 1953.

It was described as
being about four feet long

with bulging eyes,

appendages that appeared
to be sort of long, gangly legs.

There was all types of
theories and speculation

ranging from an unknown
deep sea creature,

humanoid in appearance,

to some type of
extraterrestrial or alien.

The Canvey island
Monster is now considered

to have actually
been a monk fish.

But back to our crawling potato.

And an interesting fact, the
day this creature was filmed,

there was a total lunar eclipse.

Could there be a connection?

Some people believed
in the middle ages

that lunar eclipses
were caused by magicians

or moon hungry monsters.

Interestingly enough, there
are theorists who speculate

that celestial events
such as eclipses

often coincide
with the appearance

of interdimensional creatures,

beings, entities,
and apparitions

that are not of this world

somehow stepping from
another dimension

or through a portal
into our reality.

A totally eclipsed moon is
sometimes called a blood moon

for its reddish color and can
last for nearly two hours.

So what is this thing and
where did it come from?

We asked the experts
to hash it out.

I could totally understand

why she thinks it
looks like an alien.

It's really bizarre looking.

It looks like something that
most people haven't seen.

Manka
begins her analysis

by considering that ant trap
scene at the top of the video.

Might this be an actual potato

or other object being
carried by the ant colony

the homeowner was
trying to kill off?

Ants are so powerful that
they can carry objects

5,000 times heavier than
their own body mass.

People might think this is
ant's moving a large potato,

but you can see
the body vibrates.

So something internally is
definitely causing that.

It's not just a solid shape
being moved along the ground.

It itself is moving.

And we can really see it when
it goes around the corner,

it actually bends its body.

You can see the body
move like a caterpillar.

You can see the movements
along the entire body.

Our experts
think this creature

is about a few inches long,
so a pretty small potato.

What about a caterpillar
or worm then?

There are about a million
different species of worms

ranging from microscopic in size

to one in Australia
that was two feet long.

This could be
some sort of a worm,

but the thing about it that's
really weird is it has a tail.

Worms don't really
have this distinct tail

like we're seeing in this video

That unnerving
tail narrows the options

because there's really only
one animal that matches,

a critter that can cause
intestinal infections in humans.

It's nothing you
want in your home.

This is a rat-tailed maggot,

the larval stage of a drone fly.

So they are born in ponds

and they have these
tail like things

that help them breathe
above the water.

They're in really
stagnant ponds.

The tail is a siphon that
helps them get oxygen

and then eventually they'll
turn into a drone fly,

which resembles a bee.

Although we've never
seen anything like it

and never want to see it again,

that telltale tail
does it for us.

Our verdict, this is
a rat-tailed maggot.

Joe, don't make me look
at that thing again.

Imagine lifting a toilet lid

to find a mysterious creature
crawling out of the bowl.

Maybe you think that's funny.

Maybe you think it's scary,

but do you think it
could really happen?

Well watch this.

In October, 2017, a
man is about to step

into his sister's bathroom
in Alor Setar, Malaysia.

When he notices something
crawling out of the toilet,

the 28-year-old immediately
rushes out to tell his sister,

who whips out her camera
and captures this video.

The footage shows a
strange slithering creature

emerging from a bathroom

with its head poking
out of the door.

It surveys its surroundings

before finally crawling
out onto the tiled floor.

Let's take another look.

The creature appears to
be about 6 feet long

with a small head, thick
body and a short tail.

It's large, it's
slimy and black,

it's crawling out of a toilet.

That's about as bad as it gets.

People don't generally
spend a lot of time,

if any time in a sewer.

So we really don't have any idea

of what types of creepy
crawlies might be down there.

Gerhard says the
most persistent urban legend

involves the sewers
of the Big Apple.

There are accounts and
rumors going back to the 1930s

that describe sizable alligators

actually living and breeding
in the New York sewer system.

There is one theory that
perhaps these were pets

that were somehow discarded

and flushed down the
toilet when they were small

and then grew to massive
sizes in the sewer.

Of course, not all
sewer animals are monster.

Sometimes animals just
get stuck in the sewer,

trapped by size or circumstance.

And everything from
giant rats, feral cats,

even cows have been found in
sewer systems around the world.

And marine biologist,
Dr. Shea Steingass,

says in Southeast Asia, giant
snakes turn down there too.

It's a really tropical,
forested environment.

In fact, it's been known
that there have been snakes

that have emerged from
toilets or plumbing.

In fact, in 2019,

this 14 foot cobra was found
in a sewer in Thailand.

Sewer creatures have been
making headlines for decades,

but it is rare to
encounter anything this big

and this disturbing.

So could this be a giant snake

or maybe just some form
of camera trickery?

Let's go to our video expert.

This recording has been
compressed pretty heavily,

so in layman's terms, it's
too blurry to see anything

to be able to identify
exactly what we're seeing.

However, in terms
of authenticity

of the way that the
recording is playing

and the way that
the camera operator

is capturing this object, I
don't see anything to suggest

it's been CGI'd or Photoshopped.

So if the video is
real, is this thing a snake?

Malaysia is home to amphibians
that we call caecilians.

And these are
salamander like animals

that don't have limbs or
any external appendages,

so they look a bit
like giant worms.

These animals can actually
get five to six feet long.

But what you have in
essence is an animal

that's only a few
inches in diameter.

And so my idea that this could
be some sort of caecilians

goes out the window.

Steingass has another
thought that's even grosser.

Malaysia is pretty well
known for its leeches,

which are blood
sucking invertebrates.

But if this were a leech,

it would have to be
30 or 40 times bigger

than a known species of leech,

which I think
is really unlikely.

Hayes is pretty sure
he knows what we're looking at

and it's not some sort
of mythical serpent.

There are quite a
few different species

of snakes in Malaysia.

This one appears to
be very thick bodied

and there's not that
many species

that would look like this.

It looks a lot like the
elephant trunk snake.

Hayes says that
the baggy skin,

which gives the impression that
it's too big for the animal,

is the telltale sign.

So our verdict, based on
its known habitat and size,

we think the sewer monster
is an elephant trunk snake.

And while they usually
make their homes

near rivers and lagoons,

this one chose a toilet instead.

No accounting for taste.

The fossil records show

that at least six
different dinosaurs

lived in Idaho
millions of years ago.

And this video suggests
that one creature

from the Cretaceous Age might
still be living there today.

September 4th,
2015, Boise, Idaho,

a pedestrian is walking
on a crisp gray day

when they notice something
alarming overhead

and record this,

a large pterodactyl like
creature with a massive wingspan

glides overhead.

The wings pull back then
flapped several times

before the animal
soars out of view.

Let's watch that again.

There's a notable
triangle shaped face

leading to a point on
the back of the skull

and beyond the massive wings,
there appear to be two legs.

We can clearly see
the brownish skin

as the creature dives then
glides past the trees.

So this clip is really
near and dear to my heart

because for decades, I have
been actively researching

accounts of living
Pterosaurs or Pterodactyls.

I've interviewed dozens
of people that swear

that they've seen these giant
flying reptiles, not birds.

The pterosaurs
who supposedly went extinct

65 million years ago were
neither bird nor dinosaur.

70 million years before
birds came on the scene,

the first flying vertebrates
were the pterosaurs

and they were a highly
specialized form

of flying reptiles.

They evolved into these
massive pterodactyls

with wingspans
up to 36 feet long,

making them the largest
flying animals ever.

Pterosaur
fossils have been found

on every continent,
including Antarctica.

But how the heck could one
be flying around Idaho today?

Gerhardt is reminded
of another sighting,

one that became famous in
the days of the Wild West.

There's a famous
story from 1890,

cowboys riding in
the Wetstone Mountain,

sighted this giant creature.

They'd supposedly shoot
this thing with their rifles

and kill it, and they
brought it back to town.

There was a photograph
which appeared

in the Tombstone Arizona
Epitaph newspaper.

And this photograph
purportedly shows

something that looks
exactly like this animal.

What's really strange though
is that the photograph

seems to have disappeared.

While hundreds
of people claim

to remember seeing this photo,

there's still no physical
evidence of it to this day.

However, a number of strange
photos featuring cowboys

and winged creatures have
surfaced over the years,

although most, like this one,
were easily proven fake.

If the famous Tombstone
photograph does exist,

it actually does prove that
these animals did survive

into modern times.

Gerhardt points
to another possible theory,

not from the Old West, but
from a dystopian future.

There are some people
that have actually tried

to construct drones

that have a very
organic appearance,

resembling birds
or other animals.

In fact, technicians at
New Mexico State University

have been actively
working to build

what's called an Ornithopter,

which is essentially a
mechanical flying device

which utilizes wings
like birds and pterosaurs

and other animals.

These Ornithopters
are using actual bird carcasses

for the casings
of their machines

as a way to blend in
and monitor wildlife.

Could we be looking
at similar tech?

I think we can't
discount the possibility

that this is in fact a modified

and actually a very
cool looking drone.

Idaho isn't the only place

where sightings like
this have been reported.

In a prior season, we
investigated a living pterosaur

or flying above
Papua New Guinea

and its surrounding islands.

As for this Idaho footage,

let's let our experts swoop
in and do their thing.

If a creature this large
were able to survive,

it would need prey to survive on

like cows or calves,
sheep or goats.

Because it would need to hunt
for food across a large area,

it would most likely
be seen by humans

before this one video.

Manka also suggests

that some of these
creatures movements

are anything but organic.

So here it looks
like this pterosaur

is going to dive down,

but then it lifts
its head back again

without really being
able to recover.

It would need more
distance from the ground

to go back up again.

They're not able to defy gravity

and it definitely makes
me question if this is real.

So could this
be a taxidermy drone,

like the ones being created at
New Mexico State University?

The idea of using real birds
as drones is enthralling,

but although birds do
have a hinge right here,

their wings don't bend
upwards like that.

That would be like me being
able to bend my elbow backwards.

This is not
anatomically correct.

This isn't a drone in
a taxidermied bird.

It's my conclusion
that a software program

created this file,
not a digital video camera.

This video definitely
appears to be processed.

There's no direct
source of light

that in theory would
produce these tonal values

underneath the wings.

So that would be
more of an indication

that something was changed on
the underside of those wings.

Although Primeau
thinks this is a fake,

even he has to admit, it's
a pretty impressive one.

The metadata and structural
analysis doesn't give us

any kind of indication as to
what program may have done this

or how it was done.

This could very well be
one of the best CGI videos

that I have ever analyzed.

Our verdict based on
Manka's observations

and Primeau's video analysis,

we're calling this a hoax.

But be warned, now that
AI has entered the field

of photo manipulation,

generating fakes like
this will soon be as easy

as typing a sentence.

We'll do our best to stay one
step ahead of the charlatans.

Whether it's rat tailed
maggots in England

or cryptids haunting Kentucky,

the world is brimming
with bizarre,

strange, and sometimes
unexplained species.

So keep your eyes open
