some foundation, some basic sets to how
we can get the throwing.

That's what this is. This is a pottery
wheel, ceramic wheel. This is some nice

clay, and we're going to get to throwing
some basics. So I don't want any air

bubbles. So air bubbles are when I take
a piece of clay like this. Go ahead and

start the wheel.

I'm going to put a little bit of water
here, not a whole lot, just enough to

suction going, and I'm going to go ahead
and slam it down.

My left elbow is locked in for strength.
I'm going to lock it in, and I'm going

to bring it up. Now, I control the speed
here, and I want the speed going fairly

fast. This is going to be full speed.

I don't need that much power yet. I'm
not really dealing with that much clay.

I would use that much speed if I were
working with larger amounts of clay

because you need that momentum to help
you. A lot of the times what I see is

people get scared of, oh, my God, it's
going fast and I can't control it. Oh,

God, you saw that one moment where my
hands were kind of doing this?

That's why that elbow needs to be locked
in.

I'm just going to go a little faster now
so that you can see a little bit more

height on this, and then I'll cut this
in the middle.

But you can see what that looks like
here. So I'm pulling, I'm pulling.

I'm going to let go slowly because I
feel friction.

And I have enough clay here that if I
wanted to, I could pull some more, and

I'm going to.

And here's where I'm going to pop this
open, let's hope.
