HUNTER WITH A SCALPEL

EPISODE 15

Chief Seo

Is something wrong?

I was just wondering how the investigation is going

Any reports about someone seeing the child?

Not yet

But we’re inspecting all major ports and roads

They won’t be able to escape easily

And we’re also making sure the mother’s safety is fully protected...

So you still don’t know where the child is

So you really do care about Sae-eun

If you don’t come with me right now

Sae-eun will die

Along with your mother

Regarding the child

I’ll share any updates with you as soon as we get them

Even if you’re frustrated, please trust us…

I also…

want to help

SENIOR JEON CHANG-JIN

Team Leader

You’ve already helped a lot

Yes, sir

Team Leader, the Chief has just

called an emergency meeting

I think you need to be updated on the situation

An emergency meeting?

Dad

I'm sorry about yesterday

You told me not to go out…

Since when did our police

start getting swayed by a suspect’s single word?

We judged the testimony to be credible

She even passed the lie detector test

Ah, someone like Seo Se-hyeon could easily fool that

During the first and second cases

We’ve already confirmed that Seo’s alibi checks out

Are you acting like you don’t understand what I mean?

Finding Yoon Jo Kyun is one thing

but first send Seo Se-hyeon to prosecution...

If we do that,

We’ll be prosecuting someone who isn’t the culprit

What's with you?

A guy who should be in the hospital suddenly barges in...

Chief

Can’t you trust us, just this once?

We may have lost Yoon Jo Kyun, but our violent crimes unit...

has never once strayed from the investigative direction

If you trust us till the end, we’ll definitely catch the real culprit

Fine, okay

Let’s say, like you said, Yoon Jo Kyun is the real culprit

But even if he is,

do you have proof that Seo Se-hyeon isn’t his accomplice?

You don’t, do you?

That’s why I’m saying to indict Seo Se-hyeon first

Once we catch Yoon Jo Kyun later…

There is no "later"

If we let this pass again now,

it’ll end up buried like all the other unsolved cases

That’s what’s going to happen, isn’t it?

Team Leader Jung is right

Even now, we must...

set things right

You little…

You’re a department head, for God’s sake

When the juniors go wild…

Chief

I also think Yoon Jo Kyun’s case

must be investigated simultaneously

So then,

You’re confident you can catch Yoon Jo Kyun?

Yes, we are

Alright

Do your best

But you know we don’t have time to wait, right?

You're discharged the day after tomorrow, right?

Once you're out, I’ll personally take care of everything

You think I won’t?

Hey

But are you really okay?

Yes, I’m totally fine

Lying around in the hospital is actually harder

And with the chief and seniors backing me like this…

We have to catch Yoon Jo Kyun no matter what

Sorry, I should’ve done this sooner

Chief, are you apologizing right now?

Uh... anyway, if we catch that bastard this time,

I won’t let him off easy

How dare he touch one of our Yongcheon family members—damn

Unnie, are you okay?

I’m okay

Your school uniform is pretty

It really suits you

Later on,

let’s go hang out at my school

Together, you and me

You

always wanted to visit school, remember?

Really?

Really

Excuse me, help us please!

Shh!

We can’t let the others hear us

Huh?

Dad said so

We must not trust anyone

Sae-eun!

Dad

Did you call me?

Don’t you miss your sister?

She was looking for you

YOON SAE-EUN

Near the West Coast Expressway,

while investigating a smuggler ship owner,

we discovered another hidden crime

believed to be committed by Yoon Jo Kyun

Another hidden crime?

A skeleton was found in the mountain near Yeongpo

We’ve identified the victim

The name is Park Seong-hee

IDENTITY VERIFICATION DOCUMENT – PARK SEONG-HEE

When she went missing eight years ago,

she had a two-year-old daughter

We also secured testimony that the victim briefly lived with a man

who resembled Yoon Jo Kyun

Then, if that child is still alive,

– She’d be ten now – Yes

We’re still making assumptions, but...

there’s a high chance that child

is the same one currently with Yoon Jo Kyun

We’ve already obtained the victim’s DNA

So if we catch him, we can confirm it

Team Leader

YOON SAE-EUN – YONGCHEON MIDDLE SCHOOL

‘Sae-eun’

YOON SAE-EUN – YONGCHEON MIDDLE SCHOOL

Sunbae-nim

Please request forensics from the NFS right away

Yes

Team Leader

I’ll inform Chief Seo

and head straight to the scene

Okay

The Special Investigation Unit will continue the inspection

of the smuggler ship Yongcheon was working on

Report immediately if you notice any suspicious activity

Yes, sir

YOON SAE-EUN – YONGCHEON MIDDLE SCHOOL

Uh, please process this as soon as possible

Yes, I’ll run the test as quickly as I can and get back to you

Okay

Dr. Chun

Chief Seo is doing well

I’ll let Chief Seo know that you’re worried about her

This came from Yongcheon

They said it’s urgent...

Got it. You can go

Can you please do this one first?

Sweetie,

Everything that comes to us is urgent

Do you know how much we have to do right now?

We need to follow the order

Are you intentionally delaying it?

What did you just say?

If that's the case, I’ll do it myself

And also,

I submitted a report to headquarters about the Nam Seung-hyeop case

What?

Exactly what you know about it, Chief Yang

Are you out of your mind?

It may be a bit late,

but after seeing Chief Seo’s press conference, I wanted to be brave too

At the very least,

we shouldn’t turn a blind eye to the truth

Oh, of course!

– Ah, our junior here – Director

Yes, more than qualified—absolutely qualified

Our lab is blessed to have someone like you

Yes, yes

Let’s have a meal together sometime soon, okay?

Hey, Chief Yang! What brings you here?

Who’s the lucky charm of our lab?

The lucky charm?

Oh, that...

You know Hyun-seok, who’s four years your senior?

Ah, Hyun-seok...

he’ll be coming in as my replacement

He just called to say hello, that’s all

What do you mean by that?

You told me I was next in line

Well, if we’re talking order, he’s your senior, so of course he goes first

Director…

How could you do this to me?

After everything I’ve done?

I know, I know…

But you see...

He said he can take care of the Nam Seung-hyeop case cleanly

So of course I have to take him

Hyun-seok has a lot of connections, you know

You should’ve also, huh?

Built up your own network and connections while you had time

Then you’d get help when you need it

Hey, leaving already?

Didn’t you come to talk about something?

Don’t take it too hard

I’ll pull you back up next time!

Just a moment ago, this was found near a pharmacy

It’s being tested at NFS now

Do you recognize these clothes?

What about the body?

Only the clothes were found at the scene

Judging by how he left only the clothes like a message,

the child is likely still alive

No

He must’ve killed her

He said if I didn’t go with him,

He’d kill Sae-eun

What?

What do you mean…?

Yoon Jo Kyun…

came to the hospital

To take me

Yoon Jo Kyun came here?

When?

Team Leader, please let me go out

– What? – I have to go

If I don’t go, neither the evidence

nor Sae-eun’s body will ever be found

Absolutely not

We can’t let you risk your life too, Chief Seo

Besides, Sae-eun’s body hasn’t been found

The police are already searching, so if you can just wait a little longer…

How long exactly?

Until they find her body?

And after that?

What happens after that?

I’m sorry

Even so, we can’t let you go

Instead...

I’ll make sure to bring

Sae-eun back

So just one last time,

please trust me

From now on, we’ll guard this room

in teams of two, 24 hours a day...

not letting our guard down for even a second

Chief Seo Se-hyun

make sure she doesn’t leave

Yes, Jeon sunbae

Let’s head out together right now

Cold?

Come here

Does it hurt a lot?

I’m okay

Do you remember?

When we...

first came to Haryong

You...

brought a dead mouse

into the room

And I...

cried and yelled

I totally lost it, remember?

Back then...

I said I was scared of you

That I didn’t want

to be around you

And I tattled to Dad

I’m sorry

Because of me...

you had to live

outside the house

I’ve always felt sorry

You’ll forgive me, right?

It’s okay

Unnie?

See?

You should’ve come when Dad told you to.

Sae-eun

died because of you

It’s pretty, isn’t it?

It was just delivered— Thought it might cheer you up

I persuaded the officer to let me bring it

Thank you

WISHING YOU HAPPINESS AND HEALTH - MUJIN MUDFLAT

Ah…

Y-Yes, yes. Thank you for your work

They said the partial print from the uniform matches the ones from the first and second cases

It’s the same fingerprint

Just like Chief Seo said, it’s definitely the kid’s uniform

But they’re saying the blood on the uniform doesn’t belong to the child?

They found adult white blood cell levels

Then it means he deliberately put someone else’s blood on it?

If that’s true…

then it means Sae-eun is still alive

The street where the uniform was found is one-way

There's only one entry point

And the entrance CCTV showed no delivery vans passing by

They could have used public transport or walked

If that's the case...

there's a high chance they’re still nearby

Let’s head to the scene for now

- Yes - Let’s go, quick

Hang in there a bit

I’ll come back for you

Have you seen her by any chance?

No, I haven’t

Yes, hello

By any chance, around here— Have you seen these people…?

Excuse me, sir—hello, yes

Have you seen a schoolgirl who looks like this?

She’s a young girl...

- Around here… - Have you seen her?

No, I haven’t

Got it

No one’s seen her at all

Let’s widen the search radius

Uh, Team Leader...

We’ll take over from here

You should head back now

I’m fine. Let’s keep going

No way you’re fine— Just look at yourself

You look like a wreck

No

Until we find Sae-eun...

I’m not going anywhere

Let’s go

Uh, what is it?

Huh?

What are you talking about— Now of all times?

What the—?

What’s going on?

Something just flew in from outside

- Go check that out over there - Got it

Incident reported! Incident reported!

Requesting backup on the 4th floor! Backup on the 4th floor!

Chief, did you see anyone suspicious…?

CHANGING ROOM

Mr. Jung Sang-hoon

To change your medication, we need the guardian’s consent

Uh, then when would you be able to come in?

HIGH ALERT MEDICATION

"Pancuronium"

What is this?

YONGCHEON UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL

EMERGENCY EXIT

LUCKY MART

Oh! Yeah.. I think that she's the one

- Really? - Yeah

It was either yesterday or the day before— She came to buy bread

Then suddenly, as if something happened...

She just ran off in a panic

Yeah, looks like she's been living alone in that empty house over there

Where exactly is that?

Huh?

Huh?

Isn’t he Reporter Kim?

This has to be Yoon Jo Kyun’s doing, right?

Probably, yes

But...

It’s very different from his usual methods

It’s a sign he’s psychologically cornered

If we leave this bastard alone...

he might really do something terrible

Even so, there’s only one boat leaving tonight

Just barging in like this...

It’s not like new seats magically appear

Barging in?

If we made a promise, you should keep it

There’s a thing called a plan

Plan? Don’t make me laugh

I don’t care about all that

Take a spot if you’ve got one— If not, then forget it

By the looks of it, you’re not really in a position to be picky anyway

If there aren’t enough seats...

just get rid of a person

Right?

I went to look for the assailant...

I’m sorry

What about the hospital entrance?

You didn’t see Seo Se-hyun leave?

She went out through the basement parking lot…

What time did she leave?

What about the parking lot CCTV?

We’re checking the CCTV now

Damn it

It was definitely sent by Yoon Jo Kyun

Have you tracked Chief Seo’s movements?

She was caught on CCTV stealing a car

from the hospital parking lot

And it’s confirmed she exited through Yongcheon IC

We’re heading out now — You join us too

Yes, send us your location and we’ll head there immediately

Team leader

What’s going on?

Hyungnim! Team leader!

We found that bastard’s truck!

Dad

Dad

Dad!

Dad, I was wrong!

I’m sorry, Dad!

Dad! Dad!

I’m sorry, Dad!

I’m sorry, Dad!

Dad!

Dad, please save me!

Dad! I’m sorry, Dad!

Dad!

Please save me…

Dad… Dad…
