On your next birthday,

I’ll throw you a birthday party without Dad knowing.

Just clean this part with bleach roughly.

I’ll do a full car wash tomorrow.

Change your clothes before that — if it splashes, the smell will stick.

HUNTER WITH A SCALPEL

So, you were attacked while sleeping,

and then some woman showed up and attacked again?

And then she treated you?

Yes, yes, yes. Yes, that’s what I said! Yes?

How many times do I have to tell you?

Look! Look at this, okay?

She stitched it up right here, see?

Hold on a sec

Is this the woman who attacked you?

Yes, that’s her

Yes, yes!

Then why didn’t you report it immediately?

How could I?

She told me to hide for a week if I didn’t want to die.

And she really looked like she would kill me if I didn’t listen.

“If you don’t want to die,

hide for a week.”

Do you remember the person who attacked you first?

No

It happened so fast… I couldn’t tell.

Ah

- The smell - What smell?

Bleach

Right

It was on their hands

While I was sleeping,

I smelled a strong bleach odor...

And then I was stabbed here

EPISODE 12

Detective, about Se Hyeon...

For the past five years, that kid survived on energy bars.

Because she said killing takes a lot of energy.

Do you really think a kid like that could have done something so horrific?

You said you couldn’t trust me,

Then, what’s the point in saying anything?

What did Kwon Hyung-jo say?

Ah, this turned out to be quite ridiculous.

Apparently, there was another attacker.

They say Seo Se Hyeon actually treated him.

Then...

That means Dr. Seo wasn’t the culprit to begin with.

That’s how it looks.

He didn’t see the face, but it was a man,

and he said there was a strong bleach smell on his hands.

- Bleach smell? - Yes.

- No way... - Just like you suspected,

it’s highly likely that it’s Choi Min-guk.

And Seo Se Hyeon, for whatever reason,

already knew about Choi Min-guk’s existence.

Could be an accomplice.

Or maybe not, considering Seo Se Hyeon attacked Choi Min-guk.

Ah, of course...

They could’ve staged the whole thing to mislead the investigation.

No, I don’t think that’s it.

Well, we’ll find out once we investigate.

The problem is this...

Getting approval from the Chief

is going to be really tough for the Team Leader.

With the public notice and Major Crimes Unit involved...

Jeez...

Unless Team Leader Hong supports it, right?

I’ll do it without needing approval.

What?

Sunbae-nim,

please help me.

Choi Min-guk, the owner of Yongcheon Clean Laundry...

We need to investigate him as a prime suspect.

So,

let’s do it after we catch Seo Se Hyeon, okay? Why don’t you get that?

Team Leader Hong, what do you think?

Just from the bleach smell alone,

we can’t definitively say that Choi Min-guk, the 5th victim,

is actually a suspect, can we?

And apparently, he has a leg injury...

But in the CCTV from incident 2 on the bus,

the suspect chasing the victim

was walking completely normally.

Really?

Well, yes, I suppose so...

And the fact that the victims from case 1 and 3 are connected to Choi Min-guk’s laundry...

Of course we have to investigate that.

I believe that investigation is already underway.

What? Ah, yes.

Ah, well...

It was a different situation back then.

Wait—are you saying that

you conduct witness interviews differently depending on the situation?

No, that’s not what I meant...

Seriously, Team Leader Hong, the way you talk is so weird.

So what, are you saying we’ve been doing sloppy investigations this whole time?

Enough!

Why are you yelling like you did something right?

Now that Team Leader Hong came and cleaned up everything,

you all are just sitting around doing nothing, huh?

Hey, Chang-jin.

Starting today, you’re reassigned to the Traffic Division.

Chief, sir...

That’s a bit...

Crimes kept happening,

and you just let things spiral out of control.

Yet you had the nerve to bring up cold cases?

And even touched an innocent citizen who had nothing to do with it?

Before I make you take off that uniform, go reflect on your actions.

Sir!

You’re really going to leave just like that?

You should just hold your ground and fight!

Even if I fight, I’m the only one who’ll get hurt.

No, I’ll go instead...

Stop right there.

You really expect us to just stay quiet

in such an unfair situation?

Yes, stay quiet.

It’s okay. I’ll be back soon.

But Team Leader Jung isn’t here either...

If you leave too, our team will basically fall apart.

Damn it...

Hey—uh—about Min-guk... No,

are we just giving up on Choi Min-guk?

Why would we give up? We’re still investigating.

Wait, then… could this be part of your big picture plan?

Hey.

Knowing Team Leader Jung,

he’d definitely cling to the case, even alone.

So I should at least help him.

Then of course we’ll go too!

You guys stay out of it.

No way! Why should we stay out of it?

You barely joined the Major Crimes Unit,

and now you’re acting all bold?

I have enough investigative experience

to know how to survive emergency situations.

But you? You’d be out in one hit.

Come on...

hyung-nim, you're not really in a position to take that kind of risk, right?

Your wife’s not feeling well, so maybe you’re trying to take it easy,

but this time, it won’t be something you can just brush off.

This could affect your pension. You might lose it...

My wife won’t say anything.

She’s become a fan of Team Leader Jung.

That guy, even with everything going on,

he kept visiting my wife hospital room and taking care of her.

I’m going.

Hyung-nim, I don’t know what you’re planning,

but whatever it is, don’t even dream of leaving me behind, okay?

- Hey, what are you doing? Get out! - I’m not backing out, either.

- Get in, hyung-nim! - Let’s go!

Hey!

You little...

Yes, sunbae-nim.

Where are you?

Ah, I’m near the police station.

As of today, I’ve been reassigned to the Civil Complaints Office!

Sunbae-nim, is it because of me…?

Yes! It’s 100% because of you, Team Leader!

So from now on, you’ve got to do me a favor.

- Huh? - Before Choi Min-guk gets discharged,

we’re thinking of raiding the laundry shop.

You can come now, right?

- If you don’t, that’s betrayal! - Team Leader, please come!

We’re almost there!

If you don’t come, I’ll be really upset!

YONGCHEON CLEAN LAUNDRY

- You’ve completed your discharge, right? - Of course.

Please stop by our laundry shop sometime.

I’ll personally take care of it.

For our dear nurses, I’ll give a 30% discount no matter what.

Oh my, really?

Of course. Please spread the word!

But, sunbae-nim

Is it really okay to keep leaving the civil complaints desk empty?

Ah, come on, whatever.

Lunch break is a perfectly valid excuse.

I’m sorry.

It’s all because of me...

Ah, I told you to stop apologizing.

Hyung-nim, take a look at this.

Looks like a little girl’s room.

But didn’t they say Choi Min-guk’s daughter is dead?

Container.

Right?

What the—shit.

Hey.

Not a single fingerprint here.

Ah, how could there be no fingerprints unless they were deliberately wiped?

Team Leader.

Choi Min-guk just showed up, it's him!

He's here, he's here!

Please stall for a little bit.

- Hyung-nim. - Whoa, you scared me.

Y-you’ve already been discharged?

- Yes. - Ah...

Well...

I wasn’t injured anywhere serious.

Uh, hyung-nim.

Is it okay to return to the crime scene so soon?

Did the doctor approve?

- Sorry? - I mean...

PTSD? You know, that kind of thing?

You went through something traumatic here...

The memory of that day could come flooding back...

That’s painful, you know?

I’m fine.

Ah, I see...

Detective Park.

You're being rather long-winded today.

Ah...

Me?

Oh? Uh, hyung-nim, just a moment.

Yes, hyung-nim.

Ah, yes, I’m on my way now.

I’ll go ahead, hyung-nim.

Yes, hyung-nim. Ah, yes, yes, yes.

LAUNDRY ROOM

If you cut along the inside edge of the scissors, it cuts better.

No need to feel embarrassed.

When I was little,

my sister taught me everything.

I can do fine on my own.

But my dad said...

you were the one who killed her?

Your sister.

Was it Eun-seo unnie?

I think I need to go to the hospital.

No, you have to stay here until Dad comes.

I'm in bad shape.

If something happens to me, you think Dad’s going to let you off?

Wait a second.

Do you know what that is?

It’s a watch.

That’s not just any watch.

When you need help,

it lets you call someone— A very special kind of watch.

Tch, that’s ridiculous.

You don’t believe me?

Press and hold the big button next to it,

and a red button will appear.

Just press that one.

Then,

someone will come to save you.

Then who’s going to come? Dad?

At that time…

The person you want to see the most.

See? It’s not working.

It’s because the battery’s dead.

Just like charging Dad’s phone…

Ah, I know what that is.

You plug a cable in here.

That’s right.

You’re smart.

Unnie! unnie!

Yes, this is Choi Min-guk.

Hello, Mr. Choi. We're from Yongcheon’s joint investigation team.

Ah, yes. Hello.

Yes, what’s the matter?

Oh, it’s nothing serious.

We just want to do a reference interview

regarding the recent attack.

Sorry to trouble you while you’re still recovering,

but would you be able to visit today?

Ah, ah, yes.

Or we could come to you if needed...

No, no, I’ll come to you.

You’re all working so hard, day and night.

Then I’ll see you soon.

Yes, understood.

I’ll be there within the hour.

Yes.

Idiots.

Keep investigating for a hundred years, day and night.

POWER OFF

Unnie.

Are you okay?

Unnie?

Unnie, are you okay?

- Hey. - Ah...

It’s me, damn it.

Find anything?

Well, the thing is…

RENTAL VEHICLE 45,000

Yesterday,

he transferred money for a rental car.

A rental car?

Why would someone who was hospitalized need a rental car?

It’s suspicious, right?

Can you confirm the rental car number?

Send it over.

Chang Jin hyung-nim

You can pull CCTV footage from there, right?

The car rented by Choi Min-guk just exited Yongcheon Interchange.

We’re still tracking it,

and we’ll share the location as soon as it’s confirmed.

For now, get on the highway.

“72 Hours”

Dad.

How’s unnie doing?

She said she needs to go to the hospital.

If we want to make it to the boat by the appointment time,

we have to leave right now.

Where are we going?

You take care of unnie.

Dad.

Dad...

It really hurts.

87JU6890

"87JU 6890"

JEON CHANG JIN SUNBAE-NIM

Sir, please check "87JU 6890" for me.

Diazepam.

Amoxicillin.

Oxycodone.

DIAZEPAM, AMOXICILLIN, OXYCODONE

It has to be

exactly these medications.

Got it?

Did unnie tell you what meds to get?

Yes, I wrote everything down here.

You go get them.

I’ll stay and look after unnie.

Come here.

Just hold on a bit.

Daddy’s hands are healing hands.

Daddy’s hands are healing hands.

Yes, sunbae-nim.

Yes, I checked. 87JU 6890...

It’s a vehicle reported stolen.

We’ve found it. Sending location now.

We’re almost there too,

just hang tight.

Team Leader!

No matter what, do not go alone.

Okay?

Why’d you come in holding the money like that?

Well, unnie wrote it down for me...

but they said I need a prescription to buy it…

What kind of medicine is it?

Show me your hand.

Quickly!

Dad.

Can I show this wound,

and just get some emergency medicine?

SEOK-AN PHARMACY

Team Leader!

No matter what happens, don’t go alone.

Understood?

SEOK-AN PHARMACY

Yes, welcome.

Ah, yes, hello.

Ah, yes. What can I get for you?

Ah, yes.

- My daughter got a bit hurt— - Oh my,

Oh no, what happened...

Well...

But I don’t think you should be here.

You should really take her to the hospital.

My daughter is a doctor. A doctor.

Still,

I think it’s better to go to the hospital.

It’s okay.

We're just doing basic treatment before heading to the hospital.

Anti-inflammatory painkillers and wound ointment,

compression bandages, and some gauze, please.

Ah, okay.

Just a moment.

Here you go.

PAIN RELIEF SPRAY

How much is it?

That’ll be 18,000 won.

Here, here you go.

- Yes, just a moment. - Okay.

Dad! Dad!

Sae-eun! Sae-eun!

- Dad! - Call the police now!

- Dad! Dad! - Sae-eun! Sae-eun!

- Dad! Let me go! - Come here!

- Sae-eun, hurry! - Dad!

Dad! Dad!

Dad!

Dad!

Chief Seo.

Are you all right?

- Team Leader Jung! - Dad!

Dad!

Can you get up?

Sae-eun, Sae-eun.

Wake up.

Ah, Team Leader.

Team Leader…

You...

dared to...

touch my daughter!

Don't move!

Stay still!

Drop your weapon!

Sae-eun, come here!

No!

No!

No!

Huh?

Requesting backup! Requesting backup!

Oh no…

That day...

when I said I couldn't trust you…

I'm sorry.

You're bleeding badly, don't talk.

Team Leader.

Team Leader.

Ah, Team Leader!

Team Leader…

Team Leader!

No, no, Team Leader!

Excuse me! Excuse me!

Someone help us, please! Over here! Here!

Call 119!

Please call 119!

Just call 119 once, please!

Someone please dial 119!
