[Episode 28]

Up there!

It's Demonic Flame Sect's

Skyfire Spell.

Each drop of lava

hits like a Foundation Stage strike.

Everyone, defend together!

Hold your ground.

With the Mist of Camouflage up,

they won't be able to track us.

They'll leave soon.

Just as I expected.

Li Huayuan

greets Grandmaster.

Huayuan.

Come over.

Sit and have some tea.

No need for tea.

My Senior Hongfu...

Grandmaster...

Was that person just here?

You're a clever man.

Why bother asking?

Then I'll take my leave.

Huayuan.

Do you remember

the first lesson I gave you

when you joined the sect?

I do.

The highest state of cultivation

is absolute detachment.

It lies in

letting go of desire.

It lies in

learning to give up.

It lies in...

I remember it all.

I also remember

another thing you once told me.

If you can't even clear your own thoughts,

what's the point of cultivating at all?

Exactly.

Yet after all I said,

you didn't take in a word, did you?

If you had,

would we

be under siege like this?

Your criticism is fair, Grandmaster.

Sacrifice a little

to preserve

our sect.

It's the best

we can do now.

Do you

have a better plan?

No, of course not.

This strategy truly took everything.

It's brilliant and exhausting.

I couldn't have pulled it off.

That tongue of yours...

You think

I can't hear

the sarcasm in your voice?

Grandmaster,

I just want to know

one thing.

Does my Senior Hongfu

and my disciple Han Li

know about this?

Well...

Then I'll ask Senior Hongfu myself.

Let's see

if she's willing.

You handed her over to Yunlu!

That fiend

slaughters innocents

and plans to destroy Yellow Maple Valley!

If she falls into his hands,

she'll die before she gives in!

It was a trade.

Not a betrayal.

Thanks for clarifying, Grandmaster.

Their main force is Mid Foundation cultivators.

A few are early stage.

What rotten luck!

We ran into the elites.

But the real trouble

are the two leading them.

Hongfu of Yellow Maple Valley is here.

Who wishes to face me?

Oh, I thought you'd be some sweet young lady.

But you're already so old.

And not even

that good-looking.

Right?

Your figure's not much either.

What on earth

does the Grandmaster see in you?

You insolent fool!

Ms,

always rushing to fight

the moment we meet.

That's a nasty habit!

Two Core cultivators.

I am

from the Ghost Spirit Sect.

They call me Skull.

You seem to be in a hurry.

Where are you headed?

I can sense Fu Yunzi's aura on you.

You mean that old Daoist?

He turned out

to be quite the worthy opponent.

In that case,

this item...

Mentor Fu Yunzi's relic!

I now return it to you!

For returning

a fallen friend's keepsake,

I'll overlook

your earlier offense.

But I'm taking these disciples.

I hope you two

won't stop me.

You dumb woman,

are you slow in the head?

Don't you get it?

We came for you.

These disciples

are just extras.

The real prize

is you!

Mrs,

Grandmaster Yunlu requests your presence.

Please come with us.

As for these disciples,

since we are at war,

I can't let them go.

Apologies.

In that case,

let's fight!

Break out the moment battle starts.

Whoever escapes, escapes.

Meet at the spot marked by the Soul-Burning Spell.

Grandmaster!

Go now.

This fight isn't for you!

Move!

Qu Hun, move!

Trying to run?

Your opponent is here.

Is this where it all ends?

I hope Han Li and the others got out.

We're almost there.

We'll be safe once we're there.

Han!

Something's off.

Be careful!

This is clearly the meeting spot.

Why are the demonic cultivators here?

Where's the person sent to pick us up?

There won't be anyone.

Come with me!

It's him!

Oh, isn't that Li Feiyu?

No.

You're not Li Feiyu.

Your name is...

Han Li.

No wonder I couldn't track you down.

How did he know I'd be here?

Not bad.

You've got some skills.

This makes killing you way more fun!

A Core cultivator is here...

Master!

You're a lucky one, kid.

You made me work so hard

just to find you.

Master,

I finally found you.

Where's your Mentor Hongfu?

She told us

to meet here.

And she stayed behind

to stall those demonic cultivators.

Didn't expect

we'd get ambushed too.

I see.

You've done well.

Here.

Take this.

Some supplies and gems.

If you run into your senior brothers and sisters,

share these with them for me.

Also this.

This one

is for you to keep.

[Core Formation Notes]

There are some insights from me.

Read them when you're breaking through.

Thanks for your guidance, Master.

But I can't accept

this mystic pouch.

Please,

give it to the others yourself

once you return safely.

What are you talking about?

It's just some travel funds.

Alright, enough.

Next up

is a battle between Core cultivators.

With your current level,

you won't be able to help at all.

Hurry up

and focus on healing.

Remember,

once you leave Yue Kingdom,

the demonic sects won't be able to reach you.

Got it?

Master...

do you really have to go?

What?

Go where?

From what those demonic guys said,

they may not want

to kill Senior Hongfu.

They seem to have a hidden motive.

Please be extra careful.

You kid...

I can't hide anything, huh?

Come on.

Get up.

Han Li,

you haven't been here long,

but you're smart,

cautious,

and know how to keep a low profile.

One day,

you may even surpass me.

I know full well,

this mission

is incredibly dangerous.

Odds are I won't make it back.

But I have my reasons.

The longer one lives,

the more one realizes

some things in this world

matter more than your own life.

Like...

certain people.

Give me your hand.

I'll remove the Soul-Burning Spell

for you.

This settles our sect's debt to you.

Alright.

Leave Yue Kingdom quickly.

There are many beautiful sights out there.

Go see them for me.

That's enough.

I'm off now.

We're alive?

Where even are we?

That guy's insane.

Stick with him,

and you'll end up dead sooner or later.

What did you say?

I didn't say anything!

Just spitting out some sand.

I meant, congrats, Young Master!

You made it out alive against a Core cultivator!

You're destined for great things!

Any plans now?

What plans can I have?

Oh, I've got loads of ideas,

but the big calls

are up to you.

You give the word, I'll follow.

We'll head to Yellow Maple Valley

and regroup with the Grandmaster.

Han Li...

I swear I'll kill you myself someday!

What's wrong with you?

You truly are the strongest woman of Yellow Maple Valley.

Your strength is remarkable.

Seems I'll have to

give it everything I've got!

Let's grab that woman first,

then kill off the weaklings.

Just leave her face intact.

An arm or a leg missing

doesn't matter.

As you wish, my dear!

You're strong enough,

but unfortunately...

this battle will be your last!

Senior,

I'm here with you!

Senior,

sorry I'm late!

Hurry,

take this pill

and start healing.

This is high-grade stuff from Wangyu?

Yeah!

One pill costs 2000 gems!

Like swallowing money!

I sent Han Li and the others ahead.

I wonder how they're doing...

I just saw him.

Don't worry.

That kid

is not dying anytime soon.

What about the other disciples?

Did they all make it out of the valley?

Grandmaster likely got them out.

That guy

met with Grandmaster.

This was all part of their plan.

Even the Soul-Burning Spell on us

was part of it.

I see...

That's exactly his style.

Still, trading me alone

to save all of Yellow Maple Valley,

that's a deal worth making.

Senior,

doesn't this feel

just like when we first joined the sect?

We snuck into Clear Void Sect for spirit herbs,

and they sent a whole squad after us.

The whole place was chaos!

I still remember it clearly.

There were also Junior Lei

and Wangyu.

We even knocked over

a whole pot of pills

Fu Yunzi was refining.

Fu Yunzi cried over it

for days!

Like, hiding-under-the-blanket sobbing!

That old gambling addict!

This was from that fiend earlier.

I think Fu Yunzi would want you to keep it.

We messed around all our lives.

But I doubt I'll ever get the chance

to repay that favor.

The Mountain Barrier's down...

Yellow Maple Valley has fallen.

You both

aren't getting away either!

Senior,

do you think

we'll get out of this one

like we used to?

These punks

aren't even worth the effort!

Junior,

don't you dare steal my kills!

It's a shame the sect's gone.

As long as we live,

the sect lives on.

These bastards are noisy.

Let Li Huayuan here

clear the path for you.

Time to go home!

Congrats, Grandmaster.

You finally wiped out Yellow Maple Valley.

My Herbs Garden...

That hasn't been yours for a long time.

Everything below us now

is dead.

Besides, you've already joined our sect.

You should've let go

of these things long ago.

If all that's left is scorched earth,

what's the point of conquering it

for the Joyful Union Sect?

I've done as you asked

and gave them as much mercy as I could.

Wang Chan

will handle this place.

Grandmaster,

I won't disappoint you!

One more thing.

Did you catch that leftover

from the Seven Sects?

Grandmaster...

that brat's too lucky.

I didn't expect

he'd be rescued by a Core cultivator

from Yellow Maple Valley.

Even in a death trap like that,

he still got away.

Maybe his fate really hasn't run out yet.

Does that mean...

I'll have to deal with him myself?

Grandmaster,

please,

there's no need for that!

In cultivation,

you need something to sharpen yourself.

That boy

is still yours to face.

Rest assured, Grandmaster.

He won't get far.

I hope Han Li will make it out alive.

I hope you won't get yourself killed.

Looks like...

he's become your inner demon.

That'll seriously hinder your cultivation.

Father...

please don't kill him.

Let him fight Wang Chan.

Hubby...

Darling!

Our grandmaster's here.

You're dead now!

Grandmaster,

that's the one who saved the boy.

A Core cultivator from Yellow Maple Valley.

Master...

Mentor...

Come back with me.

Junior,

go on ahead.

At this point,

death's the only outcome.

Li Huayuan of Yellow Maple Valley

is here!

Let's see

what Yunlu has to teach me!

How foolish.

Yellow Maple Valley is finished.

But I'll honor my pact with Linghu.

Hongfu stays.

Everyone else must leave.

Not leaving!

You, a mighty Nascent Soul cultivator,

won't even duel me one-on-one?

Yunlu...

Junior!

Let's make a wager!

If I can force you

to make a move,

then I win!

And you'll have to

let my senior go!

Junior,

don't be stupid.

You're no match for him.

My turn.

Junior!

Worthy of a Nascent Soul cultivator...

After all these years,

you're still cold as ever

and won't change your mind?

After all these years,

you're still so arrogant.

As if the world

belongs to you alone.

She's right.

Dead right.

People like you

destroy homes and kill loved ones

all for your own gain,

then pretend you've done nothing wrong.

Shameless!

Mentor!

Stop fighting!

Mentor Li!

Please!

Please stop!

Master...

My mother will be okay.

You have to treat your wounds now,

before it's too late!

Xuan'er...

honestly...

you looked better in your old clothes.

Mentor...

back in the day,

there was this crusty old man.

On my very first day in the sect,

he taught me something.

He said, in this world,

the weak must bow their heads,

but only the strong

get to take what they want.

Whether it's status,

power,

strength,

or even someone else's life,

if they want it,

they take it.

That's the iron law of this world.

If you want to live long,

you'd better understand that.

But if that's all this world is,

what's the point?

He's shattering his own core

to forcibly boost his power.

Is he insane?

For Yellow Maple Valley,

take one more strike from me!

You old bastard!

Yunlu!

I finally forced you to fight back!

I win!

Junior!

Senior...

we won.

We can finally go home.

Junior...

Grandmaster!

Urgent news from the outpost.

Yellow Maple Valley

has fallen to the demonic sects.

What's the casualty report?

Grandmaster Linghu

has already retreated with the elite disciples.

Core cultivator Li Huayuan

died in battle.

Cultivator Hongfu fled.

Summon a team for me.

I'm going to Yellow Maple Valley.

But...

What's wrong?

Master gave me an order yesterday.

You played a major role

in this war against the demonic sects.

But now,

your injuries haven't healed.

She asked me to tell you

not to wear yourself out

over such matters again.

So, Senior is set on making peace with the demonic sects?

Fine.

What about

the Foundation disciples

and Qi Refining disciples

from Yellow Maple Valley?

Do we know where they are?

During the retreat,

they split into several groups.

One of them

was led by Hongfu.

But along the way,

they were ambushed by the demonic sects.

Almost all of them

were wiped out.

Wiped out?

No survivors?

That's just a rumor.

I'm not sure of the details.

So... it's really time to build your monument?

Spread the word.

If any disciple of Yellow Maple Valley

needs help,

Moonshadow Sect will offer aid.

I'll be going into secluded cultivation.

No one is to disturb me

without my permission.

Yes, Grandmaster.

If that brat really dies like this,

it's too good for him.

I need to go see for myself.

Too bad...

That's the power of a Core cultivator.

Just a touch of that red mist,

and I'm already injured inside.
