We've got the saddle here on the fence.

What are we doing here?

Because we need to teach you
how to tack up Fanny.

We need to teach you how to get a saddle
to swing up and high over something.

Lift it up against yourself kinda tight.

And there's this swinging throw motion
going on.

-You want to place it gently.

You don't want to go up and over
and slam it in the back with the saddle.

When you're first new at this,
one of the easiest ways to help yourself

in such a way that it just lands gently.

we don't get the saddle on perfect

This is gonna be the trickiest part
for you to learn on your own.

I started doing stand-up when I was
16 years old in Ottawa at Yuk Yuk's.

And then, I started doing a radio show
at Ottawa University radio.

And then, a public access TV show
at Rogers Cable.

Then, the show got picked up by MTV
and I moved to New York,

and then Los Angeles.

And I was on the cover
of Rolling Stone magazine.

I got to host Saturday Night Live.

And now, I'm back here in the basement
at Yuk Yuk's.

start making maple syrup?

In like the early 1900s,

[Ryan] The original farm,
I think it's like 1857.

And someone in my family has been
making it there ever since.

I'm getting a rush right now
from that sugar.

I don't normally do
that many shots in a row,

that's actually kicking in right now.

When you go to ask her to walk, you just

My parents' canoe that my mom
got for my dad on his 50th birthday.

It's a meaningful canoe to me

'cause my parents did all sorts of canoe
trips throughout the Canadian wilderness.

They're quite proficient canoeists
themselves. Outdoors people.

So, it's gonna be nice to now have this
up here at the farm

and take it out to some remote,
serious secret lakes.

I didn't want to get on an airplane.

if I had to fly home to see my family,

I could drive all the way
from Los Angeles to Canada.

And you were missing your parents a lot,
and your brother.

And because you spent you career
in show business,

living in New York, and when you were
producing Everybody Loves Raymond,

you would fly down to Los Angeles
every week.

Wednesday to Friday.

And I asked you, "Do I have to live
in Los Angeles to keep doing my comedy?"

And what did I say?

-You said, "No, you don't have to."
-You don't.

like I had this dream
that I could ride Fanny around at sunset

and Charlie would run along beside us.

Seeing how calm they are with each other,

we could take a chance at this.
