Previously on Testament.

He's been seen with a leader who's been tried here twice.

Is that true?

Curve us. Answer the question.

James!

James, help!

What happened? Where is he? They took him. The freedmen. The people are

demanding they kill him.

Stephen. You don't even recognize the voice that created you. You continue to

reject the Holy Spirit just like your ancestors did time and time again.

Look!

I see.

I see the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.

Blasphemy!

Don't hold this in against the Lord.

I'm ready now.

Bring me home.

Are you wanting me to speak first?

You've disappointed us all, Gamaliel.

You've disappointed me.

Your reputation is marred.

And there are whisperings about you throughout these halls.

Your own party demand that we cut you out. and I have a good mind to listen

to them.

It's only out of loyalty to our friendship and your years of service

that I am prepared to keep you on as an elected minister of the Sanhedrin.

Loyalty, Gamaliel.

You will have to prove yourself to the members and to me.

Do you think you can do that?

No.

No?

That's what I said.

Do you understand the situation?

Oh, I understand things perfectly, Caiaphas.

I understand you illegally sanctioned the death of a young man.

Because he dared to challenge your authority.

He challenged you.

And you killed him.

And now there are whisperings about you.

You, Kyvers.

So much so that many of your Sanhedrin are choosing to leave and seek answers

for themselves.

I understand you're not making this offering because we're friends.

You're doing it because you're scared.

You let your ego take control and now you've set in motion the very thing

been trying to avoid.

Heimnister.

They're here.

I hope you prepared a better speech for Pilot than the one you just gave me,

because if he sees you're lying... God save

us.

You killed the boy because of Jesus?

Yes.

Jesus?

The boy's faith in the man made him quite radical. We thought

it best to deal with the situation swiftly.

Make an example.

But you told me that issue had been put to bed. You told me it had blown over.

There was a little more noise around Jesus in the aftermath of his death than

ideal. So you lied to me?

You're a liar.

I am the High Minister of the Sacred Faith and People, Governor!

If we're not allies, we're enemies.

Is that what you want, Caiaphas?

No, it's not.

How many more radicals are there?

I don't know. Yes!

A few thousand, I suspect.

Based on the numbers of people that stayed after Shavuot.

That was nearly a year ago.

Where are they all?

Where do they meet? Where do they gather? The new followers? The old ones?

The leaders? Where do they learn? Where do they strategize?

She's completely incapable.

How can more people be following Jesus now than when he was alive?

They believe he was resurrected.

That's ridiculous.

Things have been strange.

Go and get the body.

Hang the corpse on a cross and let them watch it continue to rot.

We can't do that.

What?

The grave is empty.

The body was stolen on the third day.

We can't find it.

I gave you my Emporial Sentinels to guard it.

Why didn't my men report this back to me?

Because we asked them not to.

We paid them to keep it quiet.

Stephen was a good man, full of faith.

If I may, I would like to use words from some sermons he studied to offer us

some comfort.

Jesus said, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me

has eternal life.

They will not be judged, but they will cross over from death to life.

Did you keep it quiet because you want more of your people to believe it?

Would you like them to rally and overthrow us?

Hide behind a leader no one can see so there's no one to blame. We are

to peace and... Don't blame you, Caiaphas.

I won't kill you, but I'll take all of your people happily. And if the empty

crosses are not enough to remind you of who we are, I'll hang your subjects on

them in the thousands like the governors before me. Don't do anything.

Not yet, please, not yet, not yet.

We did what was necessary to get rid of Jesus and the boy.

And we will rid ourselves of the radicals.

But just the radicals. The temple wants a Messiah.

But not him.

We cannot pray for him.

So we remain yours.

It's your last chance.

Don't make me regret it.

Never.

Don't you ever lie to me again.

Never.

Central, give me the posting records from last part over. I want a head for

traitors that are stationed at the tomb of the Nazarene.

Simon. Simon.

I need you to get Dana and take her back to base. Quickly.

Don't go with the crowd and don't go past the front.

Why? Why can't I? Don't let her leave your side.

Okay. Yeah, I got you.

Dana.

I'm going to get you back now, okay?

You shouldn't be here, Shem.

This is a funeral.

My condolences, but I don't care.

You've been very busy, haven't you, Mary?

So many faces around here that I recognised.

Serafina, Isla, Ava, Zara, Miriam. Yeah, they're looking well.

Where's Dana?

Dana?

She's with you, isn't she?

I told you not to touch his property.

You really need to stop calling people that. She's marked.

Mary, you know what that means.

I've been good to you. I understand you need to do all of this to save them and

save yourself and blah -de -blah -de -blah.

But you can't have Dana, not her.

Why now?

Why look for her now?

Because Orin's back.

You know how the boss gets when he's not happy.

Don't worry, he's not staying. Where's he going?

Back home to Magdala.

Is that where he takes them?

Well, the last thing he told me was, remind Mary that the only reason she got

out is because I didn't want her.

Tell her to remember what I do to those who disobey me. And we do.

Don't we?

Mary. Eh?

We do.

You can have the others.

But Dana's his.

So send her back.

You're not the only one who's following orders, Jem.

And if you'd seen what I've seen, you wouldn't dare touch her.

You tell Orin to leave us alone.

He must have been some messiah.

Freedom looks good on you.

Minister Saul.

Hi, Minister.

You wanted to see me, yes?

Come in, Saul.

Thank you.

He's gone.

This office now is yours as the newest member of the elected ministers.

You're offering me a seat on the Sanhedrin?

I think you deserve it.

You're loyal. You're devoted.

You've made quite a name for yourself.

You are a true Pharisee of the Pharisees, Saul.

And I respect that.

It's what you want, yes?

Of course, I accept.

Good.

Good.

That is done.

I have to go, I'm afraid.

It's a full day, but...

Congratulations, Saul.

Wait, High Minister.

The followers.

What's happening? Are they... What's the plan? Well, that's what I'm going to

sort out now, but you don't need to worry about that.

Take your seat.

Make yourself at home.

I have to leave.

You're not seriously considering going back to them?

No, of course not. But I can't come here anymore.

Dana.

Daytime, nighttime, it doesn't matter.

I have to stay away.

Trust God.

The other girls.

Or anyone would find us all and he could hurt you. That will never happen.

This family has changed my life.

And I don't know what I'd do if... It's selfish

of me to keep coming here and potentially lead him to your wall. He's

long.

She hadn't said that.

We could just wait it out.

Or maybe we could... I'm meant to help you.

And you have.

It tells me that I'm one person.

One person.

But the whole house could get hurt.

We'll hurt until heaven, Dana.

That's the reality.

So what will Philip do now without his friend?

The High Minister isn't here, I'm afraid. Where is he? The guards'

He's in a meeting with the captain.

I'm not asking, Ross.

This needs to be done.

I don't like the Imperium being involved.

And not, not yet.

As long as you do your job and quickly.

What about temple duties? This is your temple duty.

High Minister.

Kaifas. This does not feel right.

So, what are you doing here?

I'm a minister.

I regret to inform you that I cannot accept the job.

Of course you can. I want to, but I can't when the Jesus followers continue

make a mockery of us.

Let me finish what we started.

I'll root them out, every last one of them. Just give me a handful of men from

the temple garden, it'll be done.

Well, there's no way of having any of my men.

So now you want the job.

Better me than him.

You would do this?

I have to.

And when it is done?

I take the Sanhedrin seat.

It would be the honor of a lifetime.

The heretics have a base here in the capital. They must do.

The first to find it will have the honor of finishing this for the temple.

Captain, tomorrow you will give Saul members of the temple guard of his own

choosing. That is final.

Let the best man win.

I told you not to bring her here.

I'm not staying.

Just making sure she gets here safe.

You okay?

Why wouldn't I be?

I live for the temple's captain and he's got weapons all over the house.

Secret weapons.

Oh.

Secret weapons.

Bye, Mary.

I'll see you out.

Do me a favor.

Forget where I live.

That's not very nice, Rosh.

I am grateful for the help you've given Dana.

But we both know we're on two different sides of a war that's brewing.

And pretty soon, I'm going to have to start aiming at you.

We are not fighting you.

Our eyes are on something much bigger.

Keep her close.

When is someone going to tell me what's going on? When you ask.

Watch her.

Please.

Why are you all in here so late we just wanted to be We just thought it would be

nice Same as you I think my friend

True, so Stephen helped teach him with the kids.

On Tuesdays.

I'll take over that now, I think.

You'll have to practice those puppet voices.

Do it once more!

He was so good at that. He was good at lots of things.

What he did with his room, groups.

He could pray for ages.

Ages.

He helped out in the streets too, right? I mean, I know people that he spoke to.

Of course, yeah.

It's not just about what he did in here.

When you hear your name, remove your chest plate and make your way to the

training ring.

Understood? Understood.

Ruben!

Jason!

Levi!

Yakim!

Mara!

Carry on.

Captain, I... For once, just do as you're told.

When you were with the followers, you said one of them told you they had a

Yes, but I don't know where.

Even when the temple guard were tailing them, we only ever got to the closest

west of the asylum port.

After that, we'd always use visual. We need that location.

We need the names of the ministers who quit their postings.

They're our strongest lead.

What about the dead boy?

I know where his mother lives.

We can just... Leave her.

Shiver for her now. We should respect that.

Start with the recanting ministers.

We'll finish this.

Together.

Together.

Did you draw that?

Something's wrong.

No wrong.

Changed.

Guys, if you go in or out, you can't keep loitering outside right now. It's

dangerous. It's always been dangerous, James.

I know.

Sorry. Or come inside.

No. No, you don't have to come inside. It's just... You remember what he said.

I've told you this so you won't fall away.

I'll kick you out of the synagogues.

And anyone who kills you will think they're doing God's work.

All because they haven't known the Father or me.

So when the time comes, remember I warned you about them.

As of today, any follower of the false messiah Jesus is officially an enemy of

the state.

The temple prefer we lead with arrest.

But we have been granted emergency powers by the imperialists.

We will do what is necessary.

You

don't

have to say anything.

All you have to do is point and we'll be out of your head.

Take him to the cells. We'll make him fall back.

May God's great name be praised through all eternity.

Glorified and praised, honored and exalted.

Ever be the name of the Holy One.

Far beyond all songs and psalms.

Beyond all hymns of glory.

Which we mortals can offer.

Are you expecting anyone?

Peace be upon you and your home.

Peace be upon you?

I'm sorry, I don't... No, you won't know me.

Nor have you heard of me.

I'm no one important.

You were at the funeral.

I'm Stephen's friend.

He lived with me.

He was my best friend.

He spoke of you often.

So much so that I feel like I know you.

The night before, he was really excited to come back home.

He wanted to pray with you.

I wanted to give you this.

When Stephen used to feel sad, he would meditate on words from Jesus.

He wrote things down.

And he made sermons.

I've been reading them all night.

They helped.

I just thought maybe... I know you do not... I would like them.

You're Philip?

Yes.

I was told how good a friend you were to him.

You helped my boy and you let him stay with you. That is important to me.

Thank you.

You can come in. There's plenty of food left over. The followers were very

generous. No, I have to get back.

I just came to say hello.

And goodbye.

Please do read those.

Take the woman.

No!

No! No! No! Please!

For the love of God, please!

What do you want?

Any! Please!

Any!

Where is it?

Take this to Thor.

And take her away in case he's lying.

No!

No!

What is it, Captain?

Our cells are full of our ministers.

Ex -ministers.

Women and children, High Minister.

They are defected.

Have you seen them?

Caiaphas.

They're being tortured.

I told you Saul was not the right man for this.

No.

He's exactly the right man.

He has done what you failed to do in a single day.

Saul has the location of their base.

With all their ministers locked up, we won't have nearly enough space to hold

them all.

Hold them, Captain.

We're planning something far more final.

Always the plan. Someone even gave a word about it in my session today.

Has anyone else been feeling the same?

Yeah, I have.

I've been feeling it too.

I can help.

I have the means.

What's going on?

Philip's leaving.

You're leaving?

I'm going to go preach out there.

The message needs to go further.

Wait. Can't you wait a few days?

No.

It has to be now.

Can't go on your own. You cannot go on his own. Wait a few days, yeah?

Until we can figure out who you can go with. Guys, the Spirit's already told

I get that.

Look, we're just in a meeting.

The train's already booked.

It leaves in an hour. Philip, it is too dangerous for you to go out there on

your own right now.

Sorry, quick question.

Are you saying he just needs one person to go with him?

Dana!

Dana!

Huh?

Thank goodness.

What's wrong?

You're not to leave the house.

Yeah, I know that.

Stay in here. Stay downstairs.

Is it him?

What?

Tell me what's going on.

Stay downstairs.

Is it the temple?

How the fellow was in trouble?

I'll go see for myself.

Don't you dare walk out this door, Dana! Then tell me what's going on.

They're on their way to their base right now.

You can't help them.

It's over.

No.

They're gonna burn it down to the ground.

And everyone inside, I am so sorry.

Don't! Then you go.

They would do the same for me.

Dana!

Sir, all entries are sealed. Units B and C are waiting on orders.

Any activity on your side?

Nothing yet, Minister.

Good. Start pouring.

Not this time Good

I said there aren't any screens.

There are ones, isn't there?

There are one.

Dana?

Yeah?

I don't know how to thank you.

What else was I gonna do?

We'll get you home as soon as we can.

You stay where I can see you, okay?

I will.

Don't worry.

Did everyone get out?

I lost count, but I think so. Okay.

Let's get those over with the others.

Okay, we're gonna need to... No, brother.

Could someone help me get some stuff out of the car?

Yeah. Yeah, I can help. That's great. From the trunk.

Okay. Thanks.

If I come with you, you leave the others alone.

Has anyone seen Dana?

Well, I'm gonna be in a lot of trouble.

Where is she?

I told you.

Not to let her go out alone after dark. Who's taken her? You are the captain of

the Temple Guard.

It's your job to know what goes on in the city, so don't you pretend you have

idea where your Dana was before she came to us and back to you. And don't you

pretend that a tiny part of you didn't know that her past was dangerous!

I told you to keep her close.

She could be on her way back here. She's not.

So you lost her!

I thought you should know.

I'll do my best to find Dana and bring her back home.

Peace be upon you, Captain.

What do we do now?

Is it all over?

It's not over just because the building's gone.

Is it?

No.

They destroyed our base because they think we're defined by it.

Like their temple.

But... We are the temple.

We are the temple of the living God.

We followed Jesus for a new life.

Better life.

And his word will not be contained to Salem.

His word must be spread.

To the ends of the earth.

But are you all ready to go?

I'll go.

I'll go.

I'll go.

Me too.

I'll go.

Jamevo.

Ticket? Both of Samaria.

Business or leisure?

Business.

Cyprus, as the spirit says.

What about you?

Twelve.

Mary, stop!

Where are you going to look for her?

Magdala.

Why there?

It's where all this started.

Where they found me.

You think she'll be there?

It's my best shot.

Get in the car.

Why? Because I'm coming with you.

Please. No.

Thank you.

So you're going to Magdala on foot, are you?

That's great.

Someone please tell my goddaughter that Mary's coming and she's going to be

there in four days.

This journey will go a lot smoother if you listen.

Oh, well.

It's not to you.

Someone must have won.

We're conducting more interrogations now and should have some answers by

morning. Good work, Saul.

A second excellence.

Hundreds are leaving the city via the south gate.

More through to the west.

Going up by the hour.

They're leaving?

They're running away.

Your actions today have shown them for the cowards that they are.

The city is safe.

Pilate will be content.

If you give me more men...

I'll follow them out and put an end to this. Saul, it's finished.

You can take your seat on the Sanhedrin earlier than expected.

No.

It's done, Saul.

No.

It's not.

You'll never be happy, boy.

With all due respect, High Minister.

Wake up.

Go back to the cells and interrogate all of them.

How far do you want us to go? Far!

When I was young, my parents would read to me these stories of old.

When I

was young, my parents

would read to me these stories of old.

Of our people.

Prophets. Kings.

and the coming Messiah.

And now, over these past few months, I have seen something

new.

I have loved listening to stories about Jesus.

I've been told that when the rich and powerful demanded his attention, he'd

with the children and speak to them instead.

But even when the ministers complained, he'd invite himself to the houses of

societies most hated.

He would go to those who everyone else had turned their backs on, but who so

desperately needed his help.

Everyone expected the Messiah to be this warrior king and destroy the Imperium.

But instead, he came to be a prince of peace.

They expected bloodshed when he gave a blood sacrifice.

They expected him to come through the city gates in a golden chariot.

He just walked everywhere.

He came through the gates on a donkey.

I remember when my friends told me about that.

They expected him to rain down destruction over our enemies, but...

He reigns over a kingdom that commands forgiveness and love.

I do wonder what the world will expect of me.

Of us.

Not that it matters.

I'm sure we won't be anything they imagined us to be.

Not now.

Not after what we know.

Unless, of course, they expect us to turn the world upside down.

Because anyone who believes that... Because anyone who believes that

is closer to the truth.

than they think.
