Life hacks or shortcuts designed to make your life easier. This show is meant to

help you, not hurt you. So hack at your own risk.

After you've worked up a manly sweat on the court, regular deodorant just won't

cut it. You need something that will take care of even the toughest odors.

You need vodka.

The only deodorizing body spray that's nothing but 100 proof vodka.

Vodka kills bacteria and neutralizes odors. Don't let odor keep you on the

sidelines. Reach for vodka.

Vodka. Enjoy vodka responsibly. Also available in new horseradish and dill

fence. You'll be in good spirit with vodka.

Tonight on Hack My Life. There she is. Prepare to be shocked and awed by our

practical and handy hack. Bam!

Did you know that everything you need to make a sweet swimming pool is in your

garage? Feels like I'm taping off a crime scene. But we'll show you a trick

will have you eating fresh tasting bagels every morning.

Shut up.

And if you're sick of being thick, check out our healthy hack of the week.

This is Hack My Life.

Apparently lighting a candle and also chewing gum are two...

Separate hacks that keep you from being a blubbery mess while you chop onions.

So today we're going to put these hacks to the test and then hack versus hack.

The gum apparently is an effective hack because while you chew it, you are

breathing through your mouth, which doesn't let the noxious onion fumes

your sinuses and then come out through your tear ducts. A candle.

Supposedly the flame will absorb and burn off any of the enzymes from the

onions. We'll see.

All right, let's get to it. Oh, you know what? To be fair, though, I'm wearing a

lot of mascara, and it's going to run down my face. Oh, you'll be fine. Don't

worry about it. Well, I mean, I want, you know, the audience to know that,

you're crying, and it would look kind of great if you had on mascara, too.

Just keep things fair. I promised my father I wouldn't wear that on camera

anymore. All right, all right, all right. But it's fine. I'll be your boy.

I don't like this.

I don't like this at all.

Okay. Ooh.

It's the chopping.

I'm so excited about this. All right, so I'm going to chew some gum.

I'm going to light my old candle here.

Okay, I can already smell some of those fumes.

I'm actually not crying right now.

Candle's not working at all. Maybe, oh, okay. I can't even look down a bit.

I'm doing all right.

I've got two down.

It's disgusting how much gum I have in my mouth, but I feel like I'm kind of

just powering through.

This is great. I'm going to keep my mascara on. I don't know about you,

Are you waving a flag over there?

No. No?

No.

I would 100 % have had to leave the room if I wasn't chewing gum.

Ugh.

Kevin, I'm hurting for you. Cut it out. I'm done.

I'm done.

This is no good. The candle hack, it doesn't work at all. Gum work?

Gum work?

I will stand behind this. I'm surprised.

Do I look beautiful now?

You know I think you're beautiful.

Building a swimming pool usually requires a lot of time and money and a

bulldozer. But hackers, they can get it done with just a duct tape, a tarp, a

garden hose, and a truck.

It's time to find out if building a swimming pool in the back of your pickup

hack or whack.

Brian, how are you, man? I'm good. Yeah? Yeah. Your words say good, but

everything else says you are concerned.

You know, this is my baby. I just put a lot of money into this. What better way

to add value to a pickup than by turning it into a swimming pool, right?

Do you think it's going to work? I think maybe it's got a 60 % chance of

working. To be completely honest, that's 10 % more than I give it.

Let's try it, shall we? Yeah, let's build a pool. Let's do it.

And we've got to start with the tarp. All right. So go ahead and grab one end,

and we're going to unfold it and just scrape it on over.

The more we can get it flush with the bed now, the better it'll be once we

it with water. Now we've got to secure it. That's what the duct tape is for.

I'm just going to try to keep it as tight as possible.

It feels like I'm taping off a crime scene.

Yeah.

No, I think we got it. Yeah.

I could see you easily falling in love with this and keeping this as a

fixture. For sure. Yeah, right? Let's fill this bad boy with some water. Do

Well, Breen, we got a problem.

We got a sweet pickup pool going, and it can definitely fit more than two dudes.

How about I go inside and make some calls? Sweet, yeah. All right. Thanks.

Oh, man, we are ready to test out the pickup truck swimming pool.

We're going to find out if it's a pack or a whack.

Oh, that is perfect.

Yeah. Yeah.

Whoa.

On the plus side, it's cheap, it's portable, it assembles in seconds. Okay,

let's render a final verdict, shall we? Is this hack or is this whack? It is a

little bit whack just because it is very cold.

It should be an ice skating rink and not a pool.

Definitely whack.

I'm going with whack.

I think even in the summertime it would still be cold. If this was like 100

degree temperature, this could be a lot of fun. So I think it is a hack.

All right, three to one.

I'm going to make it four to one. If the day were absolutely right, if the sun

were scorching you, this would be a fun novelty. Today?

Mm -mm. Not having it. Four to one. The pickup pool is whack.

Sometimes an item is so useful, it ascends into the pantheon of great

tools. Today, we celebrate one of those simple household items that truly has

become a hack all -star.

Coffee filters.

You can shield stacked china from scratches and nicks by layering a filter

between each delicate piece.

Use a coffee filter as a protective covering over a bowl when microwaving

precious leftovers.

Clean dirty glass with a coffee filter instead of a paper towel. It won't leave

any lint or residue behind.

Self -conscious about your stinky feet?

Don't be!

Pour some baking soda into a coffee filter.

Tie it up and slip it into your shoe overnight.

Then go call your doctor about that foot fungus.

All Star. The only thing better than bacon is bacon grease.

Use a coffee filter to strain particles out of the grease so you can reuse it

later. All Star.

When you're taking a close -up photo, place a coffee filter over the flash to

soften the brightness.

All Star.

There's so much more than a coffee filter.

You're the newest member of the All Star Club.

Coming up, we'll show you how a simple bar of soap could get your security

deposit back. Watch out, Martha.

Plus, can you turn that bike you never ride into a clock? We'll show you how.

Oh, look at that masterpiece.

Yes, you love them. But living in tight quarters with another person can be

challenging, especially during flu season.

To protect yourself, you need a hack line of defense against your sick

After they blow their nose, your sick spouse insists on throwing their dirty

tissues around the living room.

To prevent your entire house from becoming contaminated, rubber band an

tissue box to a full one. Now any germs will be kept in one place.

Your sick spouse is constantly asking for a massage to soothe their aching

To take the pressure off of your hands, make a heating pad.

Pour uncooked rice into a long sock, then tie a knot and microwave it for 30

seconds. Then place it on their shoulders for immediate relief.

You just spent six hours making your grandma's famous chicken and noodle

but your sick spouse has a sore throat and won't eat it. To ease their pain,

hot water and powdered gelatin together in a bowl.

Stir in a teaspoon of honey and serve as an appetizer.

The honey and gelatin will coat their throat and still leave room for gram

soup. Your sick spouse is snoring like a drunken elephant because of their

stuffy nose.

Well, to silence their snores, cut open an onion and put it on their side of the

bed. The vapors should help open sinus passageways.

Ah, sweet dreams.

Just as you're sitting down to relax, your sick spouse asks you to run to the

drugstore and get medicine for their headache.

Well, instead of heading out, head into the kitchen and grab a handful of

almonds. They're high in magnesium and vitamin E, which can help soothe

by relaxing blood vessels.

Now your sick spouse won't ruin everything because you have a hack line

defense.

Two words that can ruin anyone's morning.

Dale Bagel. But fear not, I have a hack that can breathe new life into these bad

boys. Today we're in a deli to find out if people can tell the difference

between our hack, and the fresh -baked good ones.

Tell me, bagel lovers, can you hack it?

All right, I'm joined now by Bagel Tony, and you are known for the finest bagels

in town. So I've been told. Today we're going to try to hack a stale bagel into

a fresh one.

Okay. We are going to take some paper towels.

We're going to get them nice and damp. We're going to wrap them around a bagel

and microwave for 10 to 20 seconds. And that should rehydrate the bagel, and

supposedly it's going to make it taste as good as one of your fresh bagels.

Really? That's the hack. Huh.

You believe that?

I don't know. I've never tried it.

Let's do it. Do you think you can tell the difference between, like, a three

-day -old stale bagel and a fresh one?

Yeah. One half is three days old, but we did a hack on it to make it fresh

again. The other half is fresh. If you can tell me the difference on your

they're yours for free.

Get a little bite in there.

And bagel on your right.

I'm going to say I think this is the half.

One of these halves?

Bagel Tony's, freshest and finest. The other half, a stale bagel that I

performed a hack on. The left one is a little bit more tough.

I'm going to say the left one is the hack. The one on the left.

I'm going to go with the one on the right.

That's the hack.

Going on here, right? Or maybe his hack is... I'm just going to eat both halves

and then leave.

And he got three bagels. I think that's what's happening.

This is a pressure bagel, and this one's hacked. Which bagel do you think is our

hacked bagel? One, two, three. That one.

You guys are perfect for each other.

I'm from New York.

Okay. I know bagels. You should know bagels. I think this is a hacked bagel.

Okay, let's check out the result.

You think that is the hacked bagel? Yeah, this one tastes a lot better.

you know what's crazy? The bagel on your right is the hacked bagel.

Shut up.

That is our hacked bagel.

It's going to be the one on the right.

You're right.

The one on the right was the hacked bagel. Well, congratulations, sir. You

half of a fresh, plain bagel.

You should do that to all your bagels.

I would never have guessed it, Tony. The overwhelming majority of people, they

liked our bagel hack.

Yeah, I was actually incredibly surprised. I had no idea that it was

the way it was, and I was impressed.

Do you have any other skills?

Painting.

Moving can be a giant hassle, but with the right hacks, you'll wish you could

move every time there's a new harassment lawsuit.

Oh, Kev.

Here's how to hack your moving day.

Snap a pic of your electronic setup. It'll help you remember where every cord

and cable is supposed to go.

Now, before you patch your soap, use it to fill small holes in your walls.

This hack might just save your security deposit.

Every once in a while, use it on yourself.

Huh, Kev? Okay.

Pack your books in a rolling suitcase.

It'll be easy to move, and you won't have to worry about ripping a cardboard

box. You can use a razor blade to cut handles into the sides of boxes for

carrying. Lastly, put string under packing tape when sealing your boxes.

Then, when you want to open them, just yank the ripcord.

Congratulations!

You just hacked your move.

To the seasoned hacker, one man's trash is another man's treasure. And today,

the treasure is a bike rim. And we are going to turn this bad boy, this sweet

rim, into a clock.

What are we going to need? Well, obviously we need some numbers.

You might have these lying around.

You know, if you live on a street, your neighbors probably have these. So just

go and pluck them right off their house. They're not going to miss them.

We'll need some glue, some hands.

This is a clock kit. If you really want to spice things up, you can take a gear

or any leftover bike parts.

and mount them as well step one we want to take our numbers and we're going to

glue them around the rim so we can tell the time all right we're just going to

press and hold okay we got our 12 on i had a six down below oh my god all

pro watch out martha you watch out now we're going to take our clock kit you

pick one up at a craft store and we're going to power it with a simple battery

that we had lying around won't be able to change channels for a while but At

least our clock's going to work. And place her there.

We're going to take our gear.

All right, now we need some hands to tell the time.

Oh, look at that masterpiece.

Bam! Takes a couple minutes to make for hours of enjoyment.

Turn a bike rim into a clock with some simple hacks.

Coming up next, say goodbye to Chapliff with a sweet hack.

There she is. What?

Save money on gas and don't get stranded on the side of the highway.

Follow our hack and your road trip will be golden.

Today

we're

going to learn the lazy way to prepare steak.

It's called steak sous vide, and in French that means meat bag. You need a

plastic bag, you need a steak, you need some water, and you need a cooler.

So your first step is you're going to take water, enough to just partially

the cooler. Pour that in here.

Okay, your next step involves bagging the meat.

You want to get all the air out of the bag.

And this is the best and most fun step. You just simply toss your meat into the

cooler of water.

And now you've got an hour until it's done cooking.

All right, so it's been an hour. Let's check on the steak TV.

There she is. Let's plate it.

Mmm, that looks delicious.

Yeah, it's actually pretty done.

So it is cooked through.

Technically, you can eat it. The question is, should you?

Martha and Bill are on a road trip. But there are two kinds of Martha and Bill.

Flacker Martha and Bill, they reject the hacker lifestyle.

While Hacker Martha and Bill embrace it. And to see just how different each

couple's road trip experience is, we've created this reenactment.

Flacker Martha and Bill run out of gas by the side of the road. Because they

weren't paying attention to their fuel tank.

Hacker Martha and Bill fill up their tank late at night. Gas slightly expands

with heat, so filling it up when it's cooler outside allows more gas to fit in

the tank. But it only expands a little, so they don't have to worry about their

tank overflowing.

Slacker Martha and Bill don't know what side of the car their gas tank is on,

forcing them to make an awkward 15 -point turn at the pump.

But Hacker Martha and Bill look for the arrow on the gas icon inside their car,

saving them time and embarrassment.

Blacker Martha and Bill are always digging around for loose coins when they

to a toll booth, holding up the line and infuriating others. Get out of here.

Hacker Martha and Bill store their change in an old gum container so it's

to go at a moment's notice.

All right, there you go. Perfect. Have a good one. You too.

Blacker Martha and Bill have to call for roadside assistance in the winter when

their door locks freeze shut.

Hacker Martha and Bill call upon hand sanitizer.

Hand sanitizer contains alcohol, which has a lower freezing point than water.

It heats up the ice upon contact, allowing Martha and Bill to get their

the lock.

Slacker Martha and Bill waste time scraping frost off their windows the

after a storm.

But Hacker Martha and Bill prepare by spraying vinegar and water on the

the night before.

Vinegar, like alcohol, melts the ice because it freezes at a lower

than water.

Way to embrace the open road, Hacker Bill and Martha.

So I'm having friends over to watch a movie and eat some popcorn, but I've run

out of bowls. Now what?

No problem. Use coffee filters, the newest member of the All -Star Club, as

individualized popcorn bowls.

Okay, but I need to make coffee in the morning, and I've just used all my

filters as bowls. So now what?

Settle down. Just use some paper towels you have lying around the house to make

coffee filters.

Okay, but now I have a caffeine high, and I gave myself a paper cut. But I

up all the paper towels, there's coffee filters, so there's nothing to clean up

the blood.

Now what?

I got it.

Use some lip balm, and that nasty paper cut will stop bleeding in no time.

Well, now my lips are chapped, and all my lip balm is gone because it's all

my finger.

Now what?

Would you relax?

Just dab some honey on your lips to have them feeling good as new.

Okay. Yeah, well, my lips feel great. Got honey all over them. Now there's

nothing to sweeten my tea with, so now what?

Just drop a mint in there. Your tea will be as sweet as you remember.

Okay, but I'm about to go on a date, and I need to freshen up my breath, and I

just used my last mint to sweeten my tea. Now what?

Head into the kitchen and rinse your mouth with salt water. This natural

freshens your breath instantly, and now you're ready for your date and a night

of salsa dancing.

We're not going salsa dancing.

But you could.

We're...

Coming

up, we take a look at which hacks will save you money

on breakfast.

I'm done. And our hack of the week will keep you from getting the sniffle.

We've shown you a lot of hacks today.

That's the hack. Shut up. But before we send you on your way, let's delve a

little deeper into four of our best to help you become a true hacker.

Bam!

The award for best time saver is taking a picture of your TV cord setup before

you move.

When you arrive at your new place, hooking up your electronics will be a

So don't waste two hours pulling your hair out. Spend ten minutes instead.

The award for biggest money saver.

Hacking a fresh tasting bagel.

A dozen fresh bagels can run you upwards of $10.

Most bakeries give away their bagels at the end of the day or sell them for much

less.

With our hack, you won't even be able to taste the difference and you'll save

some cash.

The least likely to succeed, building a swimming pool in the back of your

pickup. The coolest thing about this hack is the temperature of the water. If

you love the idea of taking an ice bath, well, take a dip in your truck.

Otherwise, just join a pool.

And finally, our hack of the week.

Attaching two tissue boxes together to prevent a total germ invasion.

Just because someone in your house is sick doesn't mean you should be too.

Since youth tissues can contain millions of germs, you're better off keeping

them in a box rather than screwing about your home.

Use our hack of the week to stay strong and healthy.

Or just stay in a hotel.
