because we've got the big, big space for painting.

It came up alright and it happened to be done

do another coat...like, finish the job off with the spray painter,

but we can't... Because we've got people in now.

Carpet's gonna go in, Kinsman need to come back and finish...

We are so behind. So it just feels really...

We've caught up.

We'll be OK but, like, it just feels unachievable.

So, Saturday's obviously the big day

where we need to get the electrician in...

..to do the rough-in, or, like, the fit-out. Fit-out.

We have to install the velvet bedhead ourselves.

Framing, they were coming in as well.

We have our tiler, he's coming in to do, like, an amazing, like, rework

of the marble, original marble fireplace that's in our house.

There's a million things happening today.

Across the way in house two,

painting is not an issue as they are well ahead.

The only thing that we had left to do on Saturday

with a textured Grafico wallpaper, timber-framed bed and cabinets,

a bay window alcove and fireplace.

Their luxurious walk-in robe will have a central island bench,

white and timber colour palette

and a chandelier, with lots of drawers and hanging space.

For two tradies who take pride in finishings, it's a lot to be painted.

We've gotta use the spray gun. Get the sprayer on?

So if we get good on that spray gun, we can kill it.

with carpet being laid, wardrobes going in,

repurposed marble being fitted,

leaving no room for painting to start.

Instead, Ankur and Sharon are going nuts

over their stripped-back, restored, original front door...

..that will now be the door to their master bedroom.

That is unreal. It's 140 years old.

We want to keep it that way, like, on purpose,

'cause it's just so gorgeous.

140 years ago, that door was put in

and it's always gonna remain a part of the house so it's really special.

Keeping with the era of the house,

Ankur puts together an antique buffet.

I am utilising my Block Bucks to the max, except for antique pieces.

I got a massive steal.

We've got a pair of side tables.

We've got a mahogany beautiful buffet

and two side tables for $500 from the Salvation Army in Woodend.

And to complement the bedside tables,

a custom-made floor-to-ceiling velvet bedhead will be installed.

But builder Liam has just discovered a problem.

So we have a big floor-to-ceiling velvet panel

going on this wall as the bedhead

and it has already been made from the floor to the ceiling,

not including the cornice, which is already up.

When I wasn't here yesterday,

the cornice went up where the bedhead's supposed to go.

Oh, my god.

If we can cut the panels, we won't have to touch the cornice.

Yeah. OK. And then it'll butt straight into the cornice.

Do you want me to hurry them up... along and say,

"Come as soon as possible"? Yeah. See what happens.

(RINGING TONE)

WOMAN: (ON PHONE) How are you? Oh, yes, you know.

But really quickly, with the panels, we've got a little bit of an issue

'cause the cornice has already gone up, so the height is a bit off now.

It was the culmination of many delays which brought us to the end

of, like, "How are we even gonna finish this room?"

I'm just so stressed out.

(THUNDER CRACKS) (DOG WHINES)

House three's bedhead installation is at a worrying standstill,

as head builder Liam tries to solve its size problem.

So it has, I believe,

pre-holes already in for power points...

Yes. ..and for lights. Yeah.

I know the people are saying that it can't be cut,

but to me, it sounds like an MDF panel

with staples on it for the fabric... Yeah.

..so I think we just wait till it comes.

And see what it's got. Yeah.

I reckon we'd be able to cut them. Yeah.

That's a solution of sorts. That's a solve.

SCOTT: For house two, their fireplace is taking shape in near-record time.

Alright, we're in a very, very good position at the moment.

Electrician's fitting off all the electrical work

and we've got Danny and the boys

pretty much just finishing off the touches for the office library.

We're in a perfect...

As night rolls on,

most of our Blockheads are sitting pretty the night before reveal.

I think we're in a good place. We're where we want to be.

We've got some paint touch-ups and then it's just hours of cleaning.

If we can smash out the painting with the spray gun, we'll be good.

ANKUR: The velvet wall that is floor to ceiling,

Liam's changed it so it fits perfectly under the cornice,

otherwise it was gonna be a massive issue.

And it looks better under the cornice.

SHARON: Thank god we've got a builder who can build.

It's gonna be a tough night. Yeah.

It's probably gonna be the toughest night we've had here.

I honestly didn't think it was gonna be this hard.

We had probably a room that's eight times the size of our first room

that we did on the block

and only started painting on Saturday night.

Then I have to paint that wall, don't I?

Every single person that rolled through the building said,

with real fear and trepidation in their faces.

The amount of times I've been told

that I'll be painting the rest of my life today was too many times.

Yesterday's dilemma about their artwork and sheer curtain choice

And while Shaynna instantly loved the room,

Neale was more or less at a loss for words.

He was just standing there, grinning like an idiot.

It's so beautifully done.

I feel that Tom and Sarah-Jane are really nailing this aesthetic

that we're calling 'new rural'.

I mean, to me, this is what that looks like.

And speaking of nailing it,

Shaynna thinks you're the masters of economy too.

Just doing this, you know, chair rail wainscoting

and then just paint everywhere else, not going over the top,

so that they can actually do the beautiful cornicing.

Look at the size of that ceiling rose. Stunning.

I think that's one of the things that works best in this room,

is the scale.

Like, everything in here is accentuated.

Darren thinks that the fireplace

is exactly the right choice for the room.

It feels like a contemporary traditional pot-belly stove

and I think it's a really charming choice

for this corner of the room.

I mean, it's not overly modern

but interestingly, the combination of elements

that Tom and Sarah-Jane have put together in here... Yeah.

..makes it feel modern and that's what I love about it.

I'm just running my eye around and thinking,

"What can I see in here that I either disapprove of or dislike?"

And the answer is, at this stage, zero.

It's really warm.

This room has got a beautiful sense of calm about it.

Last week, I took Rachel and Ryan to task with their master ensuite

for their spatial planning and their styling.

I think they've redeemed themselves this week.

Shaynna was very happy with the choices you had made this week.

Gorgeous carpet. Great rug.

And the colour works so well on the panelling.

It's a room that works for me despite itself.

What I mean by that is when I look around,

there are some things that don't work.

For example, the rug under the bed.

I would like to have seen a much larger rug.

And he's not a fan of dried flowers, which everyone knows.

But despite these things, it's a room that achieves a lovely ambience.

You know, I know that I would be so happy to come in here,

crash on the bed, read a book, fall asleep,

watch the fire, watch the view.

It's got a lovely vibe. SHAYNNA: Yeah.

It feels warm.

And this is the first time I've come into Rachel and Ryan's rooms

and felt that.

This, as a neutral palette

that is all based on wood, stone, natural elements,

it feels like country without having to, you know,

have the green from outside inside.

Every element in here, I'm... Two thumbs up.

He found some very minor painting issues,

but overall, it's very well executed, as all of your rooms are.

I love the big barn door. Yeah.

I think that is really super beautiful.

The wood-grain finish is the perfect choice

to connect the bedroom to the bathroom

and even though the barn door and the wood grain of the wardrobes clash,

it's a great step forward for you guys.

I really applaud them for creating such warmth and richness this week

with a neutral palette.

I mean, it's got me. This is what I would want... Yeah.

..if I was moving to a location like this

because it's warm, it's neutral, it still feels like country.

Having that entrance into this, with that chandelier as an anchor point

and this beautiful table top and then having this view through here,

This room literally oozes quality.

And he loved the way the wallpaper carries through on the wall behind.

Dylan and Jenny delivered a beautiful ensuite last week

and it's so good to see this is that little journey

they were making to a luxury suite.

I mean, is it gonna be the case of a walk-in with a matching bedroom?

They then moved into the bedroom and great to see yet another fireplace.

It is not a master bedroom this week without a fireplace.

It's not, is it? (LAUGHS)

This has got a completely different vibe again.

Yeah.

I mean, we've almost got like a sort of, I don't know,

what, like a luxe Deco feel going on here.

Again, it's a different interpretation

of the country aesthetic.

And it nails the brief yet again.

..reading a book on a Sunday morning. Yeah.

Although, do you want to lift up that cushion?

The window seat is a great idea

but the judges all felt that the seat and window furnishings

could've been executed better.

The cushion doesn't quite fit

and the timber around and under it hasn't been finished off well.

It should be, "Oh, my god, a breathtaking bay window with a view"

and it's, "Eeee..."

But I think once they've addressed that in that bay window,

it's really gonna change the feel of this room.

Yes. It will.

It's gonna give it a completely different atmosphere.

He was actually preferring the execution

and impact of your guest room

and felt the styling and execution of this week's room

felt a bit rushed, especially around the top of the fireplace.

Oh, we know. Yeah.

NEALE: It feels like all the finesse has actually gone into the walk-in.

SHAYNNA: Yeah. That's where the impact is.

I mean, this is nice. It's a nice bedroom.

It's elegant, but it's not super special

and it doesn't really live up to the expectations

of either the ensuite or the walk-in robe.

Darren thinks there are many things to like about this room too

but just doesn't believe it lives up to the brilliant guest bedroom

you presented two weeks ago.

It's just that there's little things

that feel like they're undercooked or underprepared.

Like, you know, having a rug on the floor,

you know, there's an extra layer. Yeah.

Having the finesse of pelmets covering curtains,

it's a layer missing.

There are elements that Dylan and Jenny know how to do

that we've seen before in a bedroom that are missing here. Yeah.

Unfortunately, they've set themselves a very high bar

by opening those double doors

and straight into that amazing chandeliered walk-in robe

because it sets you up.

It sets up your anticipation... Yeah.

and then you come in here and it's kind of, "Oh, well, it's lovely..."

Yeah. But it doesn't have that oomph.

to a study and reading nook?

It seems odd to me.

Shaynna liked that you kept the original fretwork,

as it is a great feature of the old Queenslander.

That nook should be grand, it should be incredible and it's cluttered.

If you're going to re-purpose it and make it incredible,

make it about the fretwork.

Don't make it about the plant, the lights, the books.

You're better off not looking at those bookshelves... Mmm.

..frankly, because those 15-cent brackets and the $1 shelves

are just cheap.

or something like that means you can get rid of this chair,

you don't need the styling here, you put in a king-size bed

and that will change the feeling and the look so much

because you don't have all this visual clutter at your eye level.

You just have all these beautiful cushions and a daybed over there,

which will be sumptuous luxury.

He feels that the amount of space given over to the reading nook

is making the room feel too small for a master.

Now, last week, you know, Omar and Oz delivered that amazing bathroom

and it really raised our expectations

to where they were gonna go this week.

I'm afraid to say, I think I've said this before,

this isn't what I was expecting.

This, to me, is not the master bedroom that that bathroom deserved.

But his overall feeling about the room was summed up by this line.

"There's too much going on, guys."

Expect the unexpected, right? (LAUGHS)

(LAUGHTER) Well, we certainly got that.

One thing they've changed and adapted from their guest bedroom

is the flooring.

We have carpet and we have the appropriate type of carpet,

something that feels chunky, something that feels country.

It's still very contemporary. Yes.

Take your eye up to that fifth wall. Yeah.

The ceiling. It's beautiful. It's beautiful.

There are elements in here that I think are really favourable

and really pay off

but I don't think the study space actually adds value.

In the wardrobe, they found an issue too.

We've got big double sliding doors here.

Fantastic. Mmm.

But... Exactly. Like, you've got this massive ottoman.

Like, imagine if you're busting to go to the toilet.

You can't get in there! It's an impediment.

Did you notice that, boys? I noticed that when I walked in this morning.

It's sort of blocks the door at the front

and blocks the door to the ensuite.

We had ordered another one.

It's coming on Monday, the other one.

I don't mean to point out the obvious, but judging's on Sunday.

Putting this in the middle is to create the illusion

that there's more storage than there actually is

because, really, what you've got is...

You've got two sets of drawers.

It's what we would expect for a secondary bedroom...

I do think it's a challenge for Omar and Oz

to compete against the other four houses, with a fireplace,

with a TV, with a king-size bed... I agree.

..with the allocation of space, with bigger robes.

They have to compete on auction day with that.

Which is a very important point, I think,

because we've always got to remember

there's five houses for sale on the one day,

so if somebody doesn't like something in one of the houses,

they just go next door and they've got four other houses to choose from.

Mmm.

So you really got to attract those buyers each and every week.

Yeah.

There are several good choices in here, you know.

Cornicing, ceiling, lighting layout.

But then you come back to things like the allocation of that space.

You just need to find a way

to turn the room into a proper master bedroom

with enough storage for a couple.
