[yelling, cheering]

In the individual challenge...

-Go ahead! -[yells]

KEOGHAN: ...Jorge made a decision...

JORGE: There's some big players in here that I want out.

KEOGHAN: ...that ultimately backfired.

Jake and Ilima get the job done first!

I feel like I let my partner down.

KEOGHAN: ...landing him and teammate Beth in overtime.

-[work whistle blows] -SYNETHIA: Let's go, Beth!

SERGIO: Think about your steps,

-big Jorge. -No!

ALY: Just do what you need to do, Beth.

LARRON: Don't cut it!

KEOGHAN: Beth's luck ran dry...

Jorge has the job done!

...as she punched out of the individual competition.

KEOGHAN: ...both teams are two wins away

from the $60,000 cash bonus prize.

I think Dirty Hands has something to watch out for.

-[yells] -It needs to have two nails in it!

Today, Dirty Hands is gonna up their game.

ILIMA: Come on!

KEOGHAN: In the individual competition,

we're down to the final seven competitors.

$7,000 is up for grabs.

I'm so hungry. I want that $7,000.

[grunts]

KEOGHAN: Who will race to the top?

You guys killed it yesterday.

Jorge was expecting us to butt heads,

and it was the exact opposite.

I would've tried to do the same thing.

It's individual, you know?

You're trying to get rid of good players.

ILIMA: I love being underestimated by Jorge.

I'm definitely riding that wave into today.

I'm more determined than ever.

Today's a turning point in the team challenge.

We got to get after it for real today.

JORGE: Score's 3-3.

Whatever team wins today,

you're one win away from $60,000.

But we lost our last team challenge,

and then Beth and I

had to go head-to-head in overtime.

We really need to come out of the gate with a win today.

ALY: Beth, how you feeling about today?

BETH: I feel like I'm in, like,

a really good mindset.

-Yeah. -I want to show my son

that it's okay, you know-- failure is okay.

Um, it doesn't define you.

-That's right. -What defines you

is what you do after that.

-Well said, Beth. -Beth the philosopher.

[chuckles]

Hey, isn't the union right here?

Oh, no way.

JORGE: I think we're going to the carpenters union!

SERGIO: It sure is!

[overlapping chatter, laughing]

ALY: What?!

LAURA: Carpenters Union Training Center.

-Oh. -Man.

LAURA: There are three different carpenters on their team.

BETH: It's really nice and clean in here.

-Good morning. -ALL: Good morning.

KEOGHAN: There's a word that seems to appear

again and again and again inside this beautiful workshop.

-"Carpenters." -"Carpenter."

KEOGHAN: "Carpenters."

Sergio, what does 714 mean to you?

Means everything to me.

This is where I got my skills to pay the bills.

Feel like I'm right at home.

Ilima's smiling like,

"That doesn't intimidate me.

"I'll come and visit your house any day

and still kick your ass."

-If need be. -If need be.

-[laughs] -This is gonna be a good one.

This is Southwest Carpenters,

and this is where you can learn and earn.

58,000 men and women who are part of this union.

Having been on Tough As Nails, when I see a hammer,

I think of someone in particular,

and he's here today.

ALL: Hanger!

[honking horn]

KEOGHAN: It's Hanger time!

-[cheering] -Yeah, baby.

KEOGHAN: Where you going, Hanger?

Yeah!

Holding a hammer comes second nature to me.

Our winner today was Hanger by 15 seconds.

[cheering]

-Let's go! -31-year union carpenter,

married to his wife

for 29 years; she's a union nurse.

He don't sit down,

-lay down or back down. -ALL: Lay down or back down.

But I can definitely get down.

[scattered laughter]

[laughter]

Oh, my Lord!

KEOGHAN: It's like 1985 all over again.

He's definitely invited to my wedding.

HANGER: Don't make me spin on my head.

KEOGHAN: Hanger, what have you been up to since you left us?

I am now a woodshop teacher at a local high school.

This is, uh, my local 714.

The skills that I've acquired here, I'm truly blessed.

And now I get to teach the next generation.

KEOGHAN: All right, let me tell you about

today's job; you are going to be

building some scaffolding--

structures that provide a safe working platform

when working up high.

Once that work whistle blows, you get to start

taking out all the pieces

and assembling them exactly as they are

laid out here in this blueprint.

The scaffold is two levels high.

You'll see that there are six bays,

as well as some railing on top of the second level.

That is for security.

All the pieces you need are

on the back of your trucks and on the trailers.

Once you have your scaffolding assembled,

drop your team banner over the side of the scaffolding,

and that team will get the victory.

If you win today...

$12,000.

-Wow! -Yeah!

And let's not forget the Badge of Honor.

Team score stands at three apiece.

Today is a crucial team competition.

The team that gets ahead today will be one win away

from that cash bonus prize of $60,000.

-HANGER: That's right! -Take a moment

to strategize, figure out who's gonna be the crew boss,

-and we're gonna get it done. -All right.

Is anyone feeling strong about this?

I feel good about it.

-We all got your back. -I'll give it a shot, then.

I haven't been crew boss yet,

and a lot of people think

he's too loud and too wild.

But I'm able to put people in the right places

and do what we need to do to get things done.

SYNETHIA: Scaffolding takes organization.

-Yeah. -And since you got experience

and you know how to give out orders

and delegate, this is perfect for you.

SERGIO: Yep, I'm ready.

I do want to go up top. I want to go up high.

Yeah, who's afraid of heights?

I'm not a big fan of it. I'll, I'll do it.

Yeah, so you guys can

-stay on the bottom. -Okay.

MISTER: It's a lot to do on the bottom anyway.

LAURA: I do have a fear of heights.

So the plan is

Renée and I will stay on the ground

and hand everything up to everyone up top.

Aly, you fall in with Jorge.

-I got him. -You follow his lead, okay?

I'm gonna hang on to Synethia, then.

I'm feeling great,

because we have to build scaffold

and I've done that in my training to become a carpenter.

SERGIO: This is fast-paced,

but if you try to go too fast, complete fail.

All right, helmets on. Let's get to work.

SYNETHIA: It's $60,000 on the line.

Dirty Hands is gonna up their game.

ILIMA: I think Dirty Hands has

something to watch out for.

On the work whistle!

[work whistle blows]

-Coming up and over! -Okay, got it.

Savage Crew have a plan straightaway.

Reaching inside their tool kits.

We have to build two levels

of scaffolding and then we have to hang our banner

over the side of it.

You never want to set your material up

right where you're working, so they're doing a great job.

JAKE: Remember, this is second level!

We had three of us attacking

those pieces and getting them laid out,

where other people got the blocks and feet secured.

MISTER: Watch your back, watch your back!

KEOGHAN: Over on this side, Dirty Hands, very cool.

Sergio, who's the crew boss, very calm.

-Now these here... -Yup!

I'm setting them in place.

SERGIO: You got it.

I'm stoked because this is what I do.

I can't even count the hours that

I've touched scaffolding, you know; it's been 25 years.

Just keep doing what you're doing, just like that.

My strategy is to put

Ellery and Beth offloading a trailer,

and then Aly and Jorge squaring up a line

and getting things level. Synethia's with me.

Keep going. Keep going.

She's just no fuss.

SYNETHIA: I could grab this one.

SERGIO: She just keeps moving.

JORGE: Good enough.

Sergio wants me to establish a straight line.

It's pretty much what I do on a daily basis.

Just so you know your scaffolding is-is square.

You want everything to fit nice and easy.

Uh, you don't want to have to struggle and fight it.

HANGER: We drill it into an apprentice's head,

if they're not square, they're gonna get in trouble.

So I'm hoping both teams establish that square.

JAKE: Somebody didn't put this in right!

-Go, go, go. I got it. -Nail, nail, nail!

-You all right? -No, no, no, it's nailed.

It needs to have two nails in it.

JAKE: There we go.

BETH: You get yours first.

I feel like we have an advantage

with Sergio and Jorge...

Work it together-- there you go.

I'm not counting Savage Crew out

'cause they can adapt really fast to things.

We got to follow this pink line, y'all!

Hustle and drive can always outwork anything.

-SERGIO: Hey, help Beth, help Beth. -Let's go!

JAKE: All right, now listen.

We're gonna have to do the height one side

-at a time! -LAURA: Yeah, but you gotta

get them straight, and then we can fix the height.

HANGER: Savage Crew is now ahead, but I still don't

see a line here, Phil, so that concerns me.

That line's gonna dictate everything.

-ILIMA: There. -JAKE: There you go!

Remember about the string line.

-Yeah, yeah, yeah. -The string line.

Get the string line!

You need to erect the whole bottom first

before you run a string line.

ILIMA: I got the string line here.

JAKE: Once we got those feet down

and X braces in, run a string line from each side to side...

Right there.

...and then move all the center posts to that.

And if you get one side square,

your other side's gonna fall into line.

Run it all the way down!

If your foundation ain't level,

you're gonna have issues going up.

Parts are not gonna fit right together.

ILIMA: There, you're good.

-Good? -Yeah.

Getting those first steps right are very crucial.

LAURA: Now, listen, do not put it against it.

You put it just where it kisses it.

-JAKE: Okay. -LAURA: Right above!

KEOGHAN: You can see Dirty Hands

-is getting some decking up on top of their first level. -Yeah.

KEOGHAN: The platforms on the top

also help to square everything up, right?

-HANGER: Absolutely. -Because they have to be

-fit in a certain way? -Absolutely, absolutely.

SERGIO: Are we good?

HANGER: You need your diagonals.

KEOGHAN: You've got to wait for

a thumbs up from Hanger before you climb.

HANGER: On the diagonals--

that's keeping it square.

Before they go up,

they have to make sure that the diagonals are in.

SERGIO: Hanger, can we go up?

Uh, something's out of square here, guys.

LARRON: We got to fix it, fix it, fix it, fix it!

We're ready to start going up, and, uh, Hanger says, "No."

We got something that, that's not right.

HANGER: Not good, not good, not ready!

LARRON: We got to get everything squared up.

-SERGIO: Check, check. -Dirty Hands, you're good!

LARRON: Our lead is toast. We're now behind.

-HANGER: You're good! -KEOGHAN: Dirty Hands can start climbing

up to their first level.

Savage Crew have to line things up.

Watch the block.

LAURA: Hold on, hold on, we're stuck.

[grunts]

KEOGHAN: Dirty Hands working on their second level.

Savage Crew have to line things up on their first level.

Waiting for a thumbs up from Hanger.

JAKE: Can we get a check?

Uh, something's out of square here, guys.

Getting the string out

after we already set up everything was wrong.

So now our end pieces were just off a little bit,

and we just had to straighten out those posts

and make sure that everything

was plumb and level.

HANGER: Savage Crew, you're good, you're good, you're good!

-Let's go! Let's go! -Savage Crew, you're good!

-JAKE: Renée, get the clips! -Savage Crew to the second level.

HANGER: You're good, wow.

KEOGHAN: Dirty Hands working on their second level.

SERGIO: Keep moving, you guys, faster. Let's go!

-I need another X brace! -Right here, Jorge!

JORGE: Building the second level is the easiest.

You already have a base platform to go off of.

It's pretty much just

how fast can you feed me material

and how fast can I install it.

Start bringing me planks!

I have Synethia feeding me material,

and instead of coming back with one, she starts

coming back with two and three,

and she gets it all laid out and ready to go.

I don't even have to say anything else anymore.

She always wants to be one step ahead,

and you don't always see that.

It's something I really respect from her.

-Let me get those planks! -Okay!

-Hey, I need help! -RENEÉE: What do you need?

I need you to hold it-- ladder, right there for me.

LAURA: Got it.

Quite honestly, the hardest part of today's job

is knowing where all of the pieces go.

JAKE: What a pain in the ass this is.

If you got to loosen it, loosen it-- is that not sideways?

LAURA: The most experience I have is literally pushing, like,

a painter's scaffolding out of my way to continue working.

-JAKE: Now just spin it. -LAURA: It's not-- it's not level.

Put it level.

It was a giant puzzle.

I got it, go do something else, Jake.

I'll take care of this.

KEOGHAN: Both teams with

their first level complete.

Now it's rinse and repeat

for the second level,

and they've got to get that safety rail in.

Give me another one. There you go.

KEOGHAN: First team to hang their team banner today

wins the all-important team challenge.

ELLERY: Let me see that X brace.

SERGIO: All right, Jorge, what do you need?

I need planks, and then I need hand rails.

HANGER: They have their X braces going on.

LARRON: Hey, give me another one.

KEOGHAN: It looks like Dirty Hands has a slight lead at this point.

Getting those planks up on top of

-the second level, Hanger. -HANGER: Yep.

Dirty Hands working together as a team on those crossbars.

Ilima's doing this by herself.

-It's much more difficult. -HANGER: Yep. Yep.

Come on!

Whoo, I need muscle!

That needs to be locked in!

Dude, we had this problem on that side.

They're fighting this cross brace

-because it was a little... -Because of the alignment.

HANGER: If you started off with a great

foundation, this wouldn't happen.

So now they're fighting.

JORGE: Disconnect that other one.

BETH: We get to our last

cross section, and the holes in the X cross-shape bars

aren't lining up.

I need you to pull this bottom one back.

[Beth yells]

We're about that much off.

[grunts]

BETH: We're falling behind, quick!

HANGER: Savage Crew's now ahead, Phil.

Savage Crew is now ahead.

ILIMA: We're taking everything

that we learned from past competitions.

We understand everyone's strengths and weaknesses.

It allows us to place everybody in a perfect spot.

Oh, my Lord.

ILIMA: We're working well as a team.

JAKE: Good, good, good!

God dang it.

I'm shaking it, I'm having her pull the other frame back,

and I'm having people at the bottom

adjust it left and right, back and forth.

Just trying to get a footing

so I'm able to pull it back

so it pops right into place.

-There-- Beth! -BETH: Go, go, go, go!

KEOGHAN: Nice work, Beth.

Once you lock it in, they can go up.

JAKE: Laura, can you go up?

[groans]

I'm taller, you go up if you can.

LAURA: Okay.

Oh, gosh.

I do have a fear of heights.

That's something that I struggle with.

ILIMA: You got this!

LAURA: But we'd all like to come home with that $12,000,

so it's now or never.

LARRON: Don't stop on us, come on, you got it.

LAURA: Attempting to face a fear of heights,

it's a whole lot different looking at it from the ground,

and that was the part that was making me nervous.

I'm up, I'm up!

KEOGHAN: And Savage Crew is up on their second level.

-JORGE: Got it. -KEOGHAN: Dirty Hands working on their second level.

-This is gonna be close! -First to get the railing done

and get your banner up gets today's team win.

HANGER: Keep it together, keep it together!

BETH: Rails!

-Go, gimme, gimme, gimme! -JAKE: Grab two!

LAURA: On the scaffolding, I can feel

things kind of start to move.

That's when my fear of heights is an issue.

Lord, I need to stay out of my own head.

Work down, Laura! Grab these, grab these!

LAURA: 'Cause I know that it's got to get done.

-JAKE: Laura, are you okay? -LAURA: I got you.

Laura, she's afraid of heights, but she's digging deep.

-LAURA: Keep 'em coming. -There's one more!

Get 'em installed, let's go!

I know, I know.

Grab it, grab it!

Hold up, got it.

SERGIO: Come on, guys.

KEOGHAN: Oh, they are sweating

for it today, Hanger, huh?

ALY: Come on!

HANGER: Man, this is tight.

Has the whole season been like this, Phil?

BETH: Hey, hey!

LAURA: They're the same thing.

We're neck and neck on our third level,

so we started feeding pieces left and right.

Right here!

Just trying to get our railings installed faster than them.

-Here. -JORGE: Come on, guys.

JAKE: Let's go!

-Let's go! -Where's the banner?!

Go get that banner!

[grunts]

-Where's the banner at? -Hey, come on, Jake!

-Jake! -They're good.

KEOGHAN: Savage Crew ready to put up your banner!

LAURA: Jake, hand it up!

-[yells] -Let's go. Let's go.

KEOGHAN: Dirty Hands catching up!

JORGE: Hey, we need the banner, the banner!

We are so close. We have this.

MISTER: The last thing that we have to do

is put this banner on.

We have our eyes set on victory.

SERGIO: Jorge!

HANGER: Good job, Dirty Hands, do not give up!

KEOGHAN: Here comes Savage Crew!

They're getting their banner over the side!

-This way. -Good job, guys.

KEOGHAN: Here comes Dirty Hands!

JAKE: Tie it off quick!

KEOGHAN: Tie it off, tie it off!

BETH: It's this way, this way!

RENEÉE: Don't let go, don't let go!

The only thing going through my head:

"Do not drop the banner!"

HANGER: Come on, Dirty Hands!

KEOGHAN: And Savage Crew get the win!

[yelling, cheering]

LAURA: I'm feeling awesome.

Some of my sweetest victories

have been in somebody else's turf.

KEOGHAN: And Dirty Hands get the job done!

[cheering, whistling]

[sighs]

JORGE: We're on our home turf.

For Sergio and I, this is our wheelhouse,

this is what we do.

Kind of discouraging not winning today.

[Aly exhales]

ALY: Today I feel like we kind of let Synethia,

Sergio, and Jorge down.

I know how much this win meant to them.

And the fact that we couldn't pull it out,

it was a hard pill to swallow.

KEOGHAN: All right,

tell us what you saw today.

HANGER: I'm very impressed.

You guys made it happen,

and my hat's off to, uh, Savage Crew.

-Thank you, thank you. -KEOGHAN: $12,000.

ILIMA: Whoo! Let's go!

KEOGHAN: Going to Savage Crew-- to the crew boss.

Jake, congratulations.

Team competition stands right now

four to three for Dirty Hands.

Savage Crew,

Dirty Hands, they are not gonna let you have it easy.

Tomorrow we go from the team competition

to the individual competition,

I'm ready to get these losses behind us.

For me,

this is kind of like losing four in a row at this point.

-Yeah. -You know, team loss,

individual loss, OT loss,

another team loss.

I'm a little mad. I'm disappointed.

We leave every team competition holding our heads high, like,

hey, we did everything we could to win.

But at this point that's not enough.

I don't know what else we can do.

Nobody's weak on this team, and nobody, you know--

honest, I really don't.

BETH: We have to stop patting ourselves on the back

when we lose.

Like, "Hey, you know, we still did a good job."

-Yeah. -BETH: We have four people

punched out who are only thinking

about the team competition,

so we need to figure out a way to use that as a rallying point.

We've got to win two in a row now.

-Like, we have no choice. -Right.

They are one win away.

-We have zero option. -ALY: Yeah.

ILIMA: Yesterday was awesome.

-Wicked awesome. -[laughs]

So, today's individual day.

Just gonna hope

all of Savage Crew makes it through today.

No one goes into overtime.

But statistically, we're getting down to the point where

a lot of us might go up against

each other, you know what I mean, so...

I've always been a member of team sports

where you work together

and you lean into your strengths,

and your strengths support someone else's weakness.

But I'm one of only

seven left in the individual competition.

There's no one else to depend on besides yourself.

So, pressure's on.

Everybody trying to get Dirty Hands knocked down.

Whatever the task is, you know, hopefully

it's in some of our wheelhouses

and we can all manage to keep going in this competition.

JORGE: I need to win today.

I need to bring it back for,

for my carpenter brothers and sisters.

It's a lot of pressure, but at the same time

I'm feeling motivated

knowing that we have some redemption to do today.

-Good morning! -ALL: Morning.

As you can see, Hanger is still in the house.

Everybody who's punched out, make yourself comfortable

-over here. -ILIMA: Morning, Hanger.

Everybody else, line up in front of me.

We're gonna tell you about today's job.

ELLERY: I'm happy to always

surprise my opponents.

I just go in with gusto

and let my opponents do what they do--

underestimate me.

If they don't see me as a threat,

then that's on them.

Welcome back to Southwest Carpenters

Union 714.

HANGER: I know what it means to be here, and I consider

this my house; now it's your house.

So you guys better make me proud.

KEOGHAN: As you look at our final seven here, Hanger,

there's only two that haven't been into overtime before.

-Oh, wow. -That's Laura and Larron.

Me, personally, I don't like OT.

-[laughter] -I don't know why, but...

We don't like OT either, Hanger.

It's gonna be tight competition today,

and I'm looking forward to seeing it.

KEOGHAN: When the work whistle blows, go to your base.

The first thing you have to do

is you're gonna have to build your Perry Scaffolding,

just like the one

in front of Hanger and I.

Then start installing acoustic tile.

As you can see,

each section has an air vent for the HVAC

and there is also

a fire sprinkler overhead.

Those are gonna be the tricky parts to cut out.

As you can see, you've got all the tools

you need to get the job done,

and Hanger's gonna be doing the judging.

And I will tell you,

he will not accept anything unless it is perfect.

Hanger gives you the thumbs up,

you are going to win today's

individual competition and...

-$7,000. -$7,000.

That's a nice payday.

Why didn't I show up on season four?

Yeah, well, you're gonna have

to come back for All Stars, Hanger.

[laughter]

Remember, last two of you to get the job done today

will be going into overtime, and by the end of the day

one more of you will be punching out.

ILIMA: Today's my brother's anniversary

of his passing.

I just want to do my best for him.

I know he's there to help me

and carry me through this competition.

I have a lot of fuel in me today.

I have a lot of fire lit under me,

and I'm always up for a challenge.

LARRON: I think what I've proven thus far

in the individual competitions is it's hard to kill me.

I've come pretty damn close to overtime,

but I haven't been there yet.

My family is the reason I'm here,

to win as much as I can to bless them.

So I'm not going to be punching out today.

-This is gonna be the fun part, Phil. -Oh...

RENEÉE: Nice, Larron.

SYNETHIA: Let's go, Ellery!

Needs to be level.

ELLERY: I was absolutely

struggling with that stand.

-[groaning]: Come on. -Ooh.

It kept falling apart.

It's very time-consuming.

I have to speed this up.

I was behind.

-ALY: Come on, Jorge! -JORGE: We have to build

our scaffolding, which is pretty easy for me.

I've built that scaffolding a million times.

I want to put it high enough so I'm able to work comfortably.

Right after that, I know I got to get

the hard pieces done and out of the way.

KEOGHAN: If they were smart, you would want to be

-copying what Jorge is doing. -HANGER: That's actually how you do it.

RENEÉE: Come on, Ilima!

I'm thinking, "Thank God I own a pair of these scaffolds,"

because I feel like Jorge

is extra hungry because he has something to prove.

So he's gonna be my biggest competitor today.

And after lifting all those scaffolds up yesterday,

I'm confident that I can get this thing up

to get my task started.

KEOGHAN: Perry Scaffolding-- it's simple if you know how,

-but if you don't? -ELLERY: Pure madness.

-Come on, Ellery. -ELLERY: Think, Ellery, think.

-SYNETHIA: Oh, my God. -ALY: Don't panic.

KEOGHAN: You've got 72 tiles

to install in the ceiling, and there'll be a quick $7,000

for the first of you to get it done.

First, you have to get your Perry Scaffolding up.

Ellery is really struggling with his scaffold.

-Come on, Ellery. -Let's go, Ellery.

Hey, don't panic.

ELLERY: Getting that stand together

was the thing that bothered me the most.

What I wasn't listening for

is to hear that click

when it goes into the hole.

Once I got that platform fixed,

I know everything else I can handle.

SYNETHIA: Let's go, Ellery.

ALY: Hey, work smart here.

Hey, let's go, Jorge.

RENEÉE: Ilima, let's go!

ILIMA: My strategy is,

put up as much as you can as fast as you can.

I want my ground covered,

and then I'll focus all my attention

on those cutouts.

ALY: Way to work.

Wow, Jorge has already done

the hole around his sprinkler.

ALY: There you go, baby.

Let's go, Jorge.

That's what I'm talking about.

RENEÉE: Go, Mister.

ALY: Hey, let's go, Laura.

LAURA: My thought process is:

let me work along the edges,

filling the outside, and then working my way in.

-RENEÉE: That's it, Laura. -[clapping]

LAURA: Once I got one measurement,

I cut two at a time on the floor

to speed things up.

BETH: Good job, Laura.

LAURA: My family business has done this before, so

I do think I have a little bit of an upper hand.

And at most, I'm going up to a ten-foot ceiling.

I'm not worried about that at this moment.

-SYNETHIA: Go, Laura. -RENEÉE: There you go, Laura.

SYNETHIA: Let's go, Ellery.

ALY: Smooth, Jorge, smooth. Let's go, baby.

I'm starting with the hardest pieces because,

once you get the harder stuff done,

everything else just seems to fall into place

and you're able to get that done a lot quicker.

SERGIO: Good job, Mister.

MISTER: Since I don't do this every day,

I'm just gonna put all the easy ones up first,

just to kind of get myself in the rhythm

before I do all the hard ones.

By now, I think

everybody knows, like, Mister's gonna bring it.

He's gonna find out

when he has to adjust for his openings,

it's gonna be difficult because he's gonna try to

reach inside and can't reach over it.

Ilima and Mister are doing

the exact same thing.

They had all their big pieces.

RENEÉE: Come on, Ilima and Mister.

SERGIO: Wow, look at Ilima go.

BETH: Good job, Jake. Push, man, push.

ALY: Hey, keep working, Ellery.

SYNETHIA: Go, Ellery.

RENEÉE: Come on, Savages.

Come on, Larron.

LARRON: I am measuring and cutting each tile,

getting them precut, so that all I have to do

is simply install them.

I want to make sure that each one that I cut

is perfect, so that I don't make mistakes.

I know that everyone's racing,

but I'm feeling really good about my pace.

Good looking, Jake. Good looking.

JAKE: I want to play a mind game.

Do all the easy pieces first,

so it looks like I have so much done

to another player

and make them nervous

and possibly mess up.

Breathe, everybody, breathe.

Stay focused.

Okay, so now

all he has to do is work the perimeter.

JORGE: I look over and I see Mister,

and he already has his whole center laid out,

and it kind of made me really nervous.

So I threw my plan out the window to do the perimeter,

and just started working on all my big center tiles.

Just a bit too close to call at this point.

Let's go, guys. Let's go.

Get 'em all up there.

RENEÉE: Come on, Jake.

How the hell does that go in there?

I've got three quarters of my ceiling pretty much done,

but now I'm getting the hard pieces out of the way.

But it's a pain to get 'em to lay in there good.

They're having trouble.

Let them underestimate you.

I have a cousin who does this for a living.

He has taught me,

work on the outside

where you have to do the measurement,

'cause it's the hardest.

I was paying attention

when I was working with you.

-SYNETHIA: Go, Ellery. -ALY: Let's go, Ellery.

27 minutes into the job.

Remember, first person

to get the job done today,

$7,000. Last two of you

going into overtime.

Hanger is looking for perfection.

If he sees any broken tiles,

-that tile's got to come out and you got to redo it. -Come on.

It's all right, Jorge, it's all right.

Come on.

I made a bit of a mistake.

I had cut the pieces

a little bit too big.

I didn't allow for the metal.

Since I had precut all of them, I knew I had to cut all of them

probably a half inch to a quarter inch shorter.

Hopefully I can make up for this lost time.

-Laura, focus on you. -I appreciate you.

RENEÉE: Nice, Larron.

KEOGHAN: Look at the contrast between

Larron's jobsite and Ellery's jobsite

-down the end there. -HANGER: Absolutely, absolutely.

KEOGHAN: You know, when a firefighter goes in to do their job,

-they're not worried about keeping things clean. -Mm-mm.

-"I gotta put out that fire, yeah." -Just put the fire out, yeah.

43 minutes, everybody.

Just got to get this bad boy in now.

RENEÉE: You'll get it. You'll get it.

I'm moving.

-RENEÉE: Come on, Ellery. -I'm moving.

So far, Ellery has done

his fire sprinkler,

and he's also worked on his HVAC.

Jake has got his fire sprinkler done,

and he's yet to do his HVAC.

But now he's working on the perimeter.

Larron's still with half of his ceiling to fill up,

but he's measuring for the HVAC.

He's gaining traction.

KEOGHAN: $7,000 on the line.

-ALY: Keep that foot on the gas, baby. -Let's go, come on.

-Jorge is very close. -Holy smoke.

-Good job, Jorge. Come on, Jorge. -Come on, Jorge. Let's go!

-BETH: Come on, Jorgie, come on. -ALY: Come on.

KEOGHAN: Jorge with four tiles left.

Mister's got seven tiles left.

This is a close race, Phil.

KEOGHAN: Ilima's getting down to the last couple.

HANGER: Come on, Ilima.

KEOGHAN: But she's left the most difficult part of the job--

-her HVAC cutting. -ALY: Come on, Jorge.

KEOGHAN: Jorge down to his last piece.

-ALY: Come on, Jorge. -KEOGHAN: Remember, you got to

-pack everything up. -SERGIO: Wow.

KEOGHAN: Put all your trash away.

Jorge working to clean up his jobsite.

KEOGHAN: It's not over yet,

the inspection still has to take place.

-Ilima and Mister, you're very close. -Can I get a check, please?

Okay, Jorge, this is not acceptable.

-The hole's too big. -JORGE: All right.

HANGER: You also-- Jorge,

this is out of square.

Hey, finish it up, let's go.

KEOGHAN: That's left a chance for

Ilima and Mister to close up the job.

-ALY: Come on, Jorge. -JORGE: Think about my family,

think about what they're gonna see when they're watching me.

You know, I don't want them

to see me give up, I don't want them

to see me slow down.

Come on, Ilima.

Mister, you're doing awesome, bro.

Jorge is not done yet. I still got a chance at this.

I'm so hungry.

I want that $7,000.

KEOGHAN: Jorge is rushing to

try to fix his mistakes.

-That's left the door open. -ALY: Come on, Ellery.

KEOGHAN: Where did Ellery come from?

Come on, Ellery.

-Ellery has raced ahead. -You never know.

ELLERY: Most everyone else,

they did the easy part first.

So everyone had already counted me out.

He's got the job done super quick, but he's got

a messy jobsite to clean up.

RENEÉE: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Go, Ilima, go.

[sighs] Oh, my gosh.

-HANGER: That was good. -KEOGHAN: Jorge has got another

-piece to repair on the outside. -Jorge could pull it off.

KEOGHAN: Mister's cleaning up his jobsite.

-BETH: Come on. -ALY: Come on.

Hey, just fix it, fix it.

MISTER: Whoo! Hey, I need a check.

-KEOGHAN: Hanger, check for Mister. -HANGER: That's all you need.

-Damn it. -That's out of square.

KEOGHAN: This is out of square

-right here, Mister. -What?!

Hanger's, "Oh, no, you got to straighten this up."

Immediately, I was like, "Oh, my God."

HANGER: Don't give up, don't give up.

MISTER: I ain't never giving up.

-HANGER: That's right. -ALY: Come on, Jorge, let's go.

Come on, come on.

-Come on. -KEOGHAN: And...

Jorge, you're good, you're good!

-KEOGHAN: And Jorge gets the win! -[Dirty Hands cheering]

-[screaming] -JORGE: Yeah, baby!

I got the win and I got that $7,000 for my family.

Honestly, I feel like Dirty Hands needed this win.

It was an individual win, but, you know, our team needed it.

-Come on, Ellery. -ALY: Let's go, Ellery!

JORGE: Don't slow down, man.

-Come on. -ALY: Come on.

-JORGE: Come on, man, hurry up. -ALY: Get a check.

-JORGE: There, you're good! -ALY: Work space had to

be clean, so we look over

and Ellery's sweeping with a tile.

But he's sweeping up dust.

So we were like, "Come on, Ellery."

[laughs] "Call a check, you're good."

Come on, Ellery, get a check.

-JORGE: Ellery. -ELLERY: Check, check.

KEOGHAN: Ellery looking for a check.

SERGIO: Breathe, my man. You got this.

-ALY: Come on, Ellery! -KEOGHAN: What do you say?

HANGER: He got it, he got it.

Ellery gets the job done!

-[Dirty Hands cheering] -You're good,

you're good, you're good,

-you're good. -ELLERY: I don't get surprised,

because I know what I am capable of doing.

I'm not to be second-guessed because I am here to win

and I have the will and the drive to do so.

KEOGHAN: No Dirty Hands going into overtime today.

-BETH: Silent assassins. -ALY: Yeah!

BETH: Super excited for Jorge.

And then Ellery ends up coming in second place,

which was amazing.

It's a huge pick-me-up for our team.

-You did it, man. -MISTER: Hey, check me out.

-KEOGHAN: You're asking for a check? -MISTER: Whew! Oh, yeah.

I'm ready.

-He's good. -Mister's good.

-HANGER: Mister's good. -Good job, Mister!

KEOGHAN: Good job, Mister.

-[cheering] -Can I get a check down here?

-Ilima's good. -ILIMA: Awesome, awesome.

KEOGHAN: We have three fighting for overtime:

Jake, Laura, and Larron.

Laura and Larron never been in overtime before.

ALY: Let's go, Laura!

KEOGHAN: It's coming down to the HVAC cut

-for both Laura and Jake. -ILIMA: Laura, you got time.

JAKE: I'm working frantically on

a piece for my HVAC.

I look over and Laura's on the same thing.

I'm really freaking out,

because this could be the point

where I might be going into OT.

KEOGHAN: Two of you going into overtime.

I did it wrong.

[grunting]

SYNETHIA: Come on, Jake.

KEOGHAN: There are three people left.

Jake, Laura and Larron.

Two of you going into overtime.

MISTER: You got it, man.

KEOGHAN: Larron racing to catch up.

LARRON: I look around and I see

that Jake and Laura have

nearly every tile installed.

They're both working on their HVACs.

It's getting really nerve-racking.

KEOGHAN: Larron's still chasing down a few tiles.

ILIMA: I have faith in you, man.

KEOGHAN: Jake is drilling in his cover.

Laura is also working on her HVAC cover.

-[group cheering] -JAKE: Can I get a check here?

HANGER: Check. Jake is good.

-Jake is good. -Jake is good

-and safe from overtime. -Jake is good.

-Whew! Wow. -HANGER: Jake.

-RENEÉE: Jake! -MISTER: Good job, Jake.

Good job, Laura, you have one piece.

LAURA: I'm feeling deflated.

I know I'm gonna catch hell when I get back home

for... [laughs]

going into overtime on something that I've done before.

MISTER: Good job, Larron.

LARRON: The crazy thing is, nothing went wrong for me.

I was incredibly methodical with what I was doing.

I just didn't go as fast as other people.

You know, I'm disappointed in myself

and I take it hard on myself,

but it's not over till it's over.

KEOGHAN: Laura and Larron,

I know that you guys were

fighting like crazy, but,

just because you're in overtime does not mean that

your journey in the individual competition is over.

You got to fight your way back in.

LAURA: My mentality about everything

is always the "we," so shifting to the "me"

is quite hard.

I don't like the spotlight to be on me.

I want to show that I'm confident and be confident.

I'm gonna use my coaching skills just like I would

if my players were here.

You just got to buckle down, move faster, be quicker,

then put your best foot forward.

You only have one chance at this.

Ready for overtime?

-Yes, sir. -Sure.

[clapping]

LARRON: Only thing that scares me is failing.

[clapping]

All this time and energy,

all this hard work put towards

something that didn't turn out.

So you have two options.

You can either give up--

you can sit on the side and say that's it--

or you can push through and just give it everything you have.

KEOGHAN: Everybody here who has

something that they're fearful of, raise your hand.

-Ilima, no fears at all? -My mom.

-[laughter] -KEOGHAN: Your mom?

Okay, well, that's a fair enough fear.

Well, today you are going to be

building a ladder about 30 feet high.

When that work whistle blows,

you will be using these 2x4s

to nail in 15 steps.

You can see that there are

two steps already nailed in at the bottom

and there are two at the top.

You've got to build all the steps in between

and then ring the bell that you see up on the ceiling.

You got a hammer there and you got some nails.

First of you to ring the bell

will stay in contention for the Tough As Nailstitle.

If you finish last, you will be punching out.

Now, Laura,

I want you to know we have

a five-point harness for you to wear.

You are completely safe.

Trust in your gear.

ILIMA: You got this.

You got this, mama.

[encouraging chatter]

KEOGHAN: Laura, this is where you really need

to dig into that mental toughness that we know you have.

BETH: Come on, girl.

JAKE: Just focus, Coach.

Hey, yesterday, Laura,

you clipped in and you climbed up that scaffolding.

You can climb up this thing.

If you guys want to get up there

and pull me up, that'd be helpful.

-[laughter] -ILIMA: Hey, I'm here to

-catch you if you need to. -KEOGHAN: Everybody here

-believes in you. -ILIMA: Absolutely.

[clapping, cheering]

-Here we go, guys. -Let's go, guys.

Are you both ready to

-get the job done? -Yes, sir.

-Mm-hmm. -All right,

let's get your harnesses on.

Let's get to work.

[clapping]

I have sweaty palms, I'm nervous.

But you have a job to do,

and you know how to do it,

and I'm not gonna let my fear get in the way of

me being successful.

Time to get to work.

-[work whistle blows] -[cheering]

-ALY: Let's go! -MISTER: Go, let's go.

ALY: Hey, go to work.

LARRON: Right off the start,

I look over at Laura,

and she and I are both

pre-nailing our wood.

Very smart, getting the pre-nailing done.

LARRON: My first thought

is, I want to get all the nails set

on the ground, so that all you gotta do

is put the 2x4 up there

and nail it in,

and then just little by little,

start working my way up.

ALY: Hey, let's go, Laura.

-ELLERY: Come on, Laura. -ILIMA: There you go,

make your swings worth it.

KEOGHAN: Laura the first to

get a rung up on her ladder.

-Remember, we've got to do 15. -Yeah!

ILIMA: Let's go, baby.

HANGER: Go, Laura!

LAURA: I do have a fear of heights.

Yesterday, the support

of my teammates, I mean, that was huge.

Well, in here, it's just you; this is a single performance.

You only have to pull on yourself.

But I just keep trying to push that out of my brain

and keep moving.

KEOGHAN: This is the third rung for Laura.

-There you go, Mama. -JAKE: Let the wrist do the work.

Let's go, Larron.

KEOGHAN: Larron with his first rung in.

LARRON: Competing against Laura

is a little nerve-racking for me.

Laura is not a fan of heights,

um, but this is also an area

where it's her wheelhouse.

I mean, she does custom woodworks,

she does a lot of installation.

And yesterday, in our team competition,

she went up to the top of the scaffolding

to help us get that win.

So I know that she can face that fear.

By the time the sun sets today,

somebody will be punching out.

-It's too far in. -You want it right here.

Boom, boom.

KEOGHAN: Now Larron's moving over.

This is where it's difficult.

He's going with the left hand.

See if how--

oh, and he's choked that--

he's choking that hammer.

LARRON: It seems simple enough.

All you're doing is building a ladder,

but trying to get in position

to nail it on both sides--

it is pretty difficult.

You gotta get some leverage behind it.

-Come on. -Good job, Laura.

Laura has four rungs nailed in.

She's going for the fifth.

Pretty good start. I have a couple of rungs up,

it wasn't so bad, and then

I was struggling to be able to carry them up.

So I hammer with my right hand,

I'm climbing with my right hand,

and I'm holding the boards with my left hand,

so my right arm is just

getting a full workout.

Man, I should've eaten my Wheaties

for breakfast this morning.

ILIMA: Conquering fears today, girl.

LAURA: [grunts] That ain't gonna work.

KEOGHAN: Oh, and a plank comes down.

She tried to carry two up at one time.

Ah, she just ditched it.

There you go, that's it!

KEOGHAN: Larron's got six done,

he's going for seven.

-That's right! -There you go, Larron.

LARRON: My strategy is,

I would nail in on both levels on the right side,

and then I'd reposition myself,

hit 'em in on the left side.

That way I wasn't having to hold anything

and I could focus more on getting that nail in

versus trying to balance.

ALY: You got this, Laura.

KEOGHAN: Ten rungs in for Larron.

Carrying 11 and 12.

-JORGE: There you go, Larron. -KEOGHAN: Come on, Laura,

this is where you gotta dig deep.

-ALY: Hey, let's go, Laura. -ILIMA: Just focus on you, Mama.

Focus on you, you got this.

ALY: Laura, you can't stop.

KEOGHAN: Oh, those forearms will be killing right now.

LAURA: It's getting down to it,

and I glance over at Larron and I see he's got

four or five rungs on me. And I'm thinking,

how in the heck

am I gonna make up time?

KEOGHAN: Laura, up high.

RENEÉE: Trust yourself, trust your gear.

LAURA: I want to jump off,

'cause I know I'm gonna get down faster.

But all I have in my mind is,

what if something goes wrong?

The "what if" keeps ringing in my ears.

-Come on! -Jump down, just jump.

Okay, okay, okay.

It's just a bit terrifying.

Trust your gear!

JAKE: Deep breaths, deep breaths.

-You got this, girl. -KEOGHAN: Laura up high.

-Come on! -Just jump. -Come on, Laura.

JAKE: Deep breaths, deep breaths.

HANGER: This is where you dig deep.

ALY: Hey, you got this, Laura.

ILIMA: You got this, Laura.

Trust yourself, trust your gear.

KEOGHAN: Larron with three more

rungs to get in.

LAURA: I know that people statistically

do better when somebody's cheering them on,

so I basically turned myself into my own cheerleader.

I try to remember the things that I would say

to somebody else to get them through.

-Yes! -All right, she did it.

LAURA: I keep thinking, "Okay, just calm down,

You know how to use tools."

Lean into that, and I'm sure I can figure it out.

[overlapping cheering]

ALY: That's what's up!

LAURA: I cannot punch out today.

That's right! That's right!

[cheering]

JAKE: Facing your fear, it's not that easy.

And for her to be able to do that,

it was like a victory in itself.

I'm so proud of her.

Oh, my God, man.

MISTER: That was amazing.

SERGIO: Come on, Larron.

-Come on. -JAKE: Here you go, Larron.

LARRON: Climbing up the ladder

is exhausting, and your forearms

are just throbbing at this point.

But I'm thinking about

my younger brothers.

I'm the example for them.

So I gotta leave everything I have on the field.

-SERGIO: Go big, Larron. -ALY: Looking good, Larron.

KEOGHAN: Larron coming down.

[whooping] Get it, Larron.

KEOGHAN: He has one more rung to get done.

Well, if she's gonna do it, I'm gonna do the same thing.

KEOGHAN: Spider-Man is in the house.

ILIMA: Home stretch!

KEOGHAN: Larron moving up to his last rung.

-Get it! -KEOGHAN: Two more nails

to get the job done.

ALY: Laura, you got to go,

-come on. -Don't worry about it, dig deep.

Come on, Laura.

ILIMA: It ain't over till it's over.

HANGER: Come on, guys.

ILIMA: You gotta go right now.

Go, Larron.

SERGIO: Right there, right there,

there you go.

JAKE: Good job, Larron.

KEOGHAN: Here we go.

JORGE: Oh, yeah, look at...

-There you go, Larron. -JORGE: Right there,

you're good.

JAKE: Yeah, Laura, go!

[whooping]

ILIMA: Good job, Larron.

-[bell ringing] -KEOGHAN: Larron rings the bell

-and gets the job done. -[cheering]

[clapping]

LARRON: I just survived overtime.

I'm super stoked

and more relieved than anything.

-Oh, my gosh. -Love you, man.

LARRON: I wanted to go up against the best,

and so it was a privilege to go up against her.

-You jumped down there. -LARRON: She is a teammate and a friend,

so it's gonna be hard

to see her punch out,

but I'm glad I came out on top.

[exhales] I'm-I'm still in it.

KEOGHAN: First of all, Larron, you've saved yourself.

You are still in contention for the Tough As Nailstitle,

so congratulations to you.

[overlapping chatter]

KEOGHAN: Laura, we watched you say

"I am tough as nails,

"I'm gonna get up there

"and I'm gonna give it absolutely

everything I have," and we saw that in you.

I'm proud of the both of you guys.

That's what this show is all about, man,

conquering fears and doing things that,

you know, you never thought you could do.

Very proud of you, looked like you were up there having fun.

That's over 20 feet you just jumped off there.

-ILIMA: Yep. -JAKE: And you did it.

-Awesome. -Appreciate it, guys.

We are super proud of you.

Appreciate it.

[clapping]

KEOGHAN: Laura, unfortunately, your journey

in the individual competition has come to an end,

and I do need you to punch out.

HANGER: God, I hate this part.

[Laura sighs]

I think whether you win or lose,

you have to learn something from it.

And I've always been a part of a team,

so it's out of my comfort zone.

But I've learned to trust myself more.

Tackling a fear of heights was

a pretty rewarding moment.

[sighs]

I'm all about having pride in everything you do,

and I am proud of everything I've accomplished.

ALY: Good job, Laura.

-Yeah, girl. -Good job, Laura.

[clapping]

LAURA: So I'm gonna keep striving to be better

for the team competition.

We are now down to

just six competitors

-going for that Tough As Nailstitle. -HANGER: Wow.

All right, we are transitioning back to team.

Savage Crew is one win away from

But I'll tell you what, Dirty Hands,

they want that $60,000.
