I remembered the fire

that's in my heart
for my brother,

and, uh, it was like
he picked me up, you know?

LARRON:

inspired by my grandfather,
who was a mechanic,

but perhaps the most famous

SYNETHIA:

Seeing Quincey has me so
excited.

Quincey is a hard worker.
He never gave up.

And the fact that Quincey is
part of the Dirty Hands legacy

is going to make us work
even harder to impress him,

to show him that we're
still keeping up the momentum.

You got a great group of
mechanics, man, they look great.

[chuckling]: We can't lose

seeing all these
beautiful people,

and I can't wait to see them

KEOGHAN:
You've got a big fan over here
in Larron.

KEOGHAN:
What was it about Quincey

that really appealed to you?

We share the same kind of jobs.

We're both very similar in what
we've gone through before.

You know, the fact that
he's willing to give everything

on every competition,

give it all he's got.

You know,
I'm the exact same way.

Both of us played
high school football,

both of us got college offers,

both of us lost those offers

as a result to injury.

We're both huge family people.

Everything about him,
I love him.

I got great motivation today.

So who is going to

break the news to Quincey

about what the team score is
right now?

SYNETHIA:
They had two. We got one.

Dirty Hands, one and
Savage Crew, two? Oh...

-QUINCEY: All right.

KEOGHAN:
Well, we got some work to do
here today.

When that work whistle blows,

each team needs to service
four vehicles.

The car numbers on the four
work orders and the keys

correspond to
the team colored numbers

on the cars you need to service.

Jobs include rotating tires,

changing oil,

replacing brake pads, shocks,

batteries, wipers,
installing nerf bars,

even putting in
a new fuse for the horn.

-[clicks]
-[horn honks]

All the tools you need

are laid out on the benches
over there.

There's even a service manual
showing you

exactly how to complete
each job.

Once you're finished
servicing a car,

make sure that you get
the service manager

to sign off
on those work orders.

First team to service
all four cars

is going to win $12,000...

-[cheers and applause]

the previous team challenge.

so we're going to

SERGIO:

JORGE: I felt it was my
time to step up.

I deal with a lot of
the same tools.

I've also, you know,
worked on my own cars at home.

I had to teach myself
at a young age how to do it.

BETH: The brakes is going
to be the biggest one.

I've done 'em.

Coming off a team loss,

we know that we have
to come back and tie this up.

Jorge is very mature for his age

and handles us as a group well.

-LARRON: The two vehicles

that we wanted to bring in first
were the ones that

have a whole list of
things to do,

which is going to be the compact
car and then the F-150.

JORGE:
Uh... Brakes. Brakes.

BETH:
We want to do the SUV

and the F-150 first
because it was going to be

the most difficult
based on the work orders.

JORGE:
Beth, watch yourself.

That is great leadership
on Jorge's part

because then we can work on
our simpler tasks

on the next two vehicles.

KEOGHAN:
Both teams working on

two vehicles at the same time.

On the SUV, they need
to change out the brake pads,

rotate the tires,

and then also do
the shock absorbers.

BETH:
Where's the book?

SERGIO:
Right there.

The key to getting these jobs
done and getting the done quick

is to multitask.

ALY:
Jorge, what do you need?

Uh, we need
to get the tires off.

And then we... we can start
doing the oil change, too.

ALY:
I got it. All right.

I set it up for

Sergio, Beth, and Ellery

to work on the SUV.

They can tackle
the big tasks first.

They can handle it
without any help.

At the same time, for the F-150,

it was Synethia,

Aly, and me-- I have
a little bit of experience.

I'm looking for the oil plug.

Aly has her truck
she works on at home.

So I knew with the two of us
we can take charge

and really know what's going on.

-[drill whirring]
-Do it in the star.

KEOGHAN: Four things that need
to be completed on the hybrid:

replace the battery,
rotate the tires, oil change,

and then
also get the horn going.

MISTER:
Watch your ears.

KEOGHAN: On the F-150,
got to change out the oil.

Install nerf bars.

These are the bars that go
along the side of the vehicle.

And then they've also got
to change out the tires.

We're going to be
splitting off into the same

two teams that we had for
the previous team challenge,

with the nursery.

It'll be me,

Ilima, and Laura.

And then it's going to be
Jake, Mister, and Renée.

ILIMA:
You guys got this, Savage Crew.

Just keep your head strong.

LAURA:
Here we go. Here we go.

JORGE: See if you can get
that pan under.

I just need to lift it up
just enough.

-A little more?
-That's fine.

-Just make it work.

[impact wrenches whirring]

Hey, y'all almost got
that battery out?

JAKE:
I'm already, I'm putting it
back in right now.

-All good.

ILIMA:
This flathead
goes on the middle one

to connect the nerf bar
to the top.

LAURA:
Got it.

-Ah, crap.
-Whoa!

LARRON:
I'm going to need the other
freaking drain pan.

This is a huge mistake.

Instead of grabbing
the tall drain,

which wouldn't fit
under the truck

because we didn't have it up
high enough,

I grabbed the lower one.

I didn't realize that the oil
was going to shoot out.

It frickin' went everywhere.

Here it comes again.

QUINCEY:
You want to get that,
that oil catcher

close enough to the oil tank

so when you pull plug out
it don't go spraying everywhere.

That's a safety hazard.

They definitely want to

get that up before they get back
under that car.

LARRON:
We had to use extra time

to clean up the mess

-that I had made.
-LAURA: You do what you're

most useful at.
I can take care of that.

-LARRON: Thank you, Laura.
-LAURA: I got you.

-RENEÉE: Thank you, Laura.
-LAURA: Teamwork.

[impact wrench whirring]

MISTER:
You got all those tight?

ALY:

-JORGE: You're done
with the tires?
-ALY and SYNETHIA: Yeah.

Dirty Hands have all their
new tires on their F-150.

Savage Crew ahead
with three jobs complete

on their first two cars.

How are you doing, Beth?

BETH:
I'm just struggling

to get this backside in
every time.

SERGIO:
You're okay. You ain't
struggling. You got this, Beth.

BETH:
My neighbor taught me

how to change out the brakes.

I was struggling to get
a brake pad in.

I knew how to do it.

I was trying to work too fast,

and Sergio made sure to,
you know, calm me down.

I don't know what it is,
but it's killing me.

SERGIO:

RENEÉE:
We haven't even
drained the oil yet, right?

MISTER: Yeah, that's what
I'm getting ready to do.

LARRON:
The horn don't work right now.

[piece clicks]

JAKE:
Hey, try the horn now.

MISTER:

-This is the horn.

RENEÉE:
Yeah, that's the horn.

JAKE:
See if it works.

MISTER:
Already got the oil going.

SERGIO:

BETH:
I got it. I got the brakes done.

How are you guys doing
on those shocks?

SERGIO:
The shocks are done.

BETH:
Once I referenced
the other side,

got it all lubed up,

that brake pad
slid right in there.

SERGIO:
Dang, you are killing it!

KEOGHAN: Just like that,
Dirty Hands closed the gap

with three jobs complete.

Savage Crew still ahead,

Get ready to drive.

KEOGHAN:
Savage Crew about to drive
their hybrid out of the garage.

-JAKE: Whoa, stop!
-But the service manager

-hasn't signed their work order.
-[engine starts]

Finally, we can get
our first car going out.

I looked over, and we were
ahead of Dirty Hands.

Now we have to get
another one in there.

JAKE:
Oh, stop! Stop!

-KEOGHAN: Oh, man...
-LAURA: No!

-We're leaking oil all over.
-What?

KEOGHAN:
Savage Crew with
a costly mistake.

They thought they had
this car complete

and that's opened the door

for Dirty Hands to catch up.

Quincey, look,
they got oil everywhere.

JAKE:
You got to get the car
jacked up.

-MISTER: Back out.
-Get the car jacked up.

-MISTER: Yeah!
-RENEÉE: Come on, you guys!

-JAKE: Whoa, stop!
-RENEÉE: Stop, stop, stop!

JAKE:
We're leaking oil all over.

-We got to get the car
jacked up.
-MISTER: What?

-KEOGHAN: Oh, man...
-Jack up the car.

You didn't put the oil filter
on right.

KEOGHAN:
Savage Crew

There's a lot

You know, I learned
some of these skills

from my dad and my brother.

I was fortunate enough to learn
how to change brakes,

shocks.
You know, some things that

we could do at home
to save some money.

but we have two cars
that are nearly done.

And so I wasn't panicking

because I knew we were going
to roll two right out.

Savage Crew coming out

Don't forget that the hybrid
had four jobs

that needed to be complete.

LARRON:
Go grab me another one!

[impact wrench whirring]

-ALY: Yeah, that's done.

ALY:

-[bell dings]
-SERGIO: Hey, let's get that car

out of here, huh, Jorgie?

This will be the second vehicle

for Dirty Hands
and they will take the lead.

Good? Start it up.

LARRON:
We need to get the sign off.

-ILIMA: Okay.
-LARRON: Thank you.
Appreciate it.

Looks like we have
two vehicles coming out.

[bell chimes]

Savage Crew are back
in the game.

They've tied it up.

We have an even race.

JORGE:
And... good.

Jorge keeping his cool
as a crew boss today.

-Two cars complete.
-Right there.

QUINCEY:
Larron is a smooth cat, man.

BETH:
We got to drop it

and do the windshield wipers.

Everybody grab one
once we get up there.

SERGIO:

BETH:

We're halfway through
the competition,

and we're neck and neck.

We cannot take our foot
off the pedal right now.

We need to work hard

and cohesively as a team
and bring home the win.

frantically trying to get

the brake pads
and rotate the tires,

put on new shock absorbers
on their SUV.

Both teams struggled to get
their first two cars done,

getting very excited.

We are absolutely still working.

We're still in the running.

exactly what's in front of us.

it needs a battery.

working on their last vehicle.

I feel like we worked
really good as a team.

We had a lot
of good communication,

and everybody kind of chipped
in, and it felt good to win.

KEOGHAN:

LARRON:

I'm feeling a little
disappointed.

I feel I didn't do
my best today,

but there are days that

you're not going to be 100%.

I-I'm sorry to say

am I really one of
the best of the best?

Also, I've got my family

to cap it all off, I got Quincey

and I'm looking forward to

Synethia, you'll be sitting

over here along with Renée
since you've punched out.

Everybody else,
line up in front of me.

LAURA:
Still a little nervous,

but I'm going to lean into
my strength, problem solving,

and to support my weaknesses,

which is not having
the experience.

We got some work to do today.

Quincey's back in the house.

LAURA:
I just want to show myself,

you can change careers,
you can pivot,

and as long as you put
your mind to it,

it's not necessarily about
always having the experience.

It's about, you know,

that mental toughness
and really grinding through.

KEOGHAN:
As you can see, there are

ten workstations.

Each one of them has
a V8 engine.

The V8 engine

goes back to 1904.

It was originally developed
for planes.

How much horsepower
in one of these engines here?

They come about 300, 350.

Wow.

The sound of a V8 engine,

is there anything sweeter?

Nothing sweeter, Phil.

Gets my blood warm,
gets it pumping.

And when those horses
are running,

it is going to be loud in here
like you wouldn't believe.

[engine revving loudly]

[cheering and applause]

When the work whistle blows,

you need to reassemble
those engines

and get them up and running
as fast as you possibly can.

The very first thing
you are going to do

is you are going to

revisit your nightmare

of taking out the plug
and draining out the oil.

Put the plug back in,

replace the oil filter,

and pour some new oil
into your engine.

Put in these gaskets
where the intake manifold is.

The thermostat housing,
valve covers,

exhaust manifolds, and
spark plugs, four on each side.

That's right, a total of eight.

The water pump, the starter,

and the thing that could

really trip you up today,

might as well call it
a disruptor.

It's the distributor--
if you don't get that right,

you will literally hear
about it.

You're gonna have
a spluttering engine instead

of the beautiful sound
of a smooth-running V8.

All the materials
you need to get the job

done are laid out on your table.

Really pay attention
to the manual.

Once you get
your engine assembled,

you're going to roll it
across this yellow line.

Quincey then will check whether
your engine is ready to go,

along with one
of the other mechanics here,

and you will know it's up
and running

because you're going
to hear that beautiful sound

of a V8 engine.

The winner today will win
$4,000.

As a person

to get to his plug.

Got to get that oil
out of the motor.

Is there nothing in it?

I take out the oil plug,

and I'm wondering
why the oil isn't coming out.

I don't know
what the oil plug is.

QUINCEY:
You want to take out

the lowest plug you can see on
an engine.

-Yeah.
-That's where the oil is at.

Oh, come on.

Let's go, Laura!

This bolt.

KEOGHAN:
First person to get
this V8 assembled

and start it up
is going to get that $4,000.

Is there nothing in it?

I take out the oil plug,

and I'm wondering why the oil
isn't coming out.

I don't know what
the oil plug is.

-Come on, girl.
-Oh, it's that one.

I did not remove the right bolt,

and whatever it was,

I had to
put back into the engine

before moving on
to pull out the oil plug.

RENEÉE:
There we go.

KEOGHAN:
Larron is putting
a sealant around

the intake manifold
for his gaskets.

Jorge getting
his manifold to go over the top.

JORGE:
The challenge is really simple.

All it is just nuts and bolts.

But the trick is to not make
any crucial mistakes

and do it fast.

Gonna be my best friend today

if you start up.

I've never worked
on a motor before,

but I can easily adapt.

Winning is important to me.

I have two little babies
at home and a dog.

I could really use that money.

So far, everybody has
drained the old oil out

of their V8 engines, replaced
the oil filter, put new oil in,

put the gaskets in
for the intake manifold,

drop the manifolds on top.

Now they're
tightening everything up.

30 foot-pounds of torque going
onto these bolts

on the intake manifold.

-Whoo!
-KEOGHAN: Sergio is the first

to get his valve covers on.

SERGIO:
Today, regardless
of whatever takes place,

if my back starts acting up,

I just have to bite down
on my mouthpiece,

just keep punching--
I'm gonna fight.

KEOGHAN:
And Larron's got
a valve cover on,

going with the second.

SYNETHIA:
You got this, Mister!

So he's doing the other stuff.

MISTER:
I chose to do the hard part
first.

I want to get the exhaust
manifolds on before

the valve covers because
valve covers are so easy.

It's just four bolts
for each side.

I ain't going to OT today.

KEOGHAN:
Ellery's got his plans out,

he's checking to make sure
everything is on properly.

The ability to follow
instructions

came from my military training.

Though with that pressure,

I put the valve covers on
incorrectly.

But I have no intention
of punching out.

I have something to prove.

I belong here,

and I have what it takes
to win this.

I want to hear that engine roar.

SYNETHIA:
Let's go, Ellery!

KEOGHAN:
But you can never count
out Jake,

Beth, Jorge, Ilima,

-Laura...
-Well, these don't look
identical.

...and Aly down on the end.

Let's go, Aly!

KEOGHAN:
Remember, Aly finished second

in the last individual
competition.

ALY:
My strategy was kind of

just stick to the order

that was in the book.

I didn't want to
get too ahead of myself.

So far, this challenge

is tougher than I thought
it was going to be.

But the hardest part for sure

is going to be the distributor.

KEOGHAN:
Sergio and Larron,

side by side and neck and neck.

But look at Mister starting
to work on his distributor.

Wow.

We have a race on our hands!

Holy cow, where
did that come from?

Sergio and I

are neck and neck installing
our starters,

and Mister is already
installing his distributor.

We're like, crap.

He's just flown by,

and we had no idea.

SYNETHIA:
Let's go, Mister!

KEOGHAN:
Mister trying to get that
distributor fitted just right.

It has a shaft with a rotor,
a connection

that spins in a clockwise
direction,

triggering the spark plugs

to fire in each cylinder
in a specific order:

one, eight, four, three,
six, five, seven, two.

To get the timing right,
you've got to make sure

that that rotor is lined
up with cylinder number one.

Who's going to be
the first to get

their V8 started?

JAKE:
Oh, my gosh, what is
going on right now?

In the beginning
of the challenge,

I was confident because I knew,
like, the oil filter,

draining that stuff, and now
I'm having a lot of issues.

Trouble getting the bolts in,

my hands were covered in oil,
so all these things

are just weighing on me

more and more and making
me stress out.

MISTER:
One, three, five...

KEOGHAN:
Mister making sure

that his ignition wires
are connected properly.

They're numbered
on the distributor cap,

and if you don't get those wires
in the correct order,

the timing's going to be off,

and then the engine
won't start properly.

The last two of you

to finish the job will be going
into overtime.

We know Mister doesn't want
to do that again.

MISTER:
No, I do not.

I'm focused now.

I'm here for my family.

I do want to make my dad proud.

I just want to make sure

what he instilled in me,

just hard work and dedication,

can continue and pass it down
to my kids.

[straining]

KEOGHAN:
Whoa, hold on!

Mister with the first check.

You feeling confident
about what you've done today?

Yeah, I've done this
a time or two.

KEOGHAN:
Larron has crossed the line.

If Mister's engine
doesn't start,

we'll be going down to Larron.

Coming up to
the moment of truth.

"Come on, please,"
I'm over there praying.

I need that $4,000.

SYNETHIA:
Here we go, Mister!

[engine spluttering]

KEOGHAN:
Oh, it's trying, it's trying!

Looks like the timing's off.

Dang!

Oh, my money, I see my money

flying out the window.

I better get this sucker
across that line

so I can fix
that distributor just right.

RENEÉE:
Larron!

Let's go, Larron!

LARRON:
My heart is pounding.

I've got my family
counting on me.

I got a lot on the line.

-[engine roars]
-KEOGHAN: There we go!

-Larron gets the win!
-[cheers]

QUINCEY:
Larron...

KEOGHAN:
Larron with the win and $4,000,

-Larron, going to you!
-[cheering]

The thing
that I'm excited about is,

this
is one step closer to Tennessee.

-You did it!
-Yeah, baby!

LARRON:
The picture of life that I have

that I want to make a reality

is to be married,
is to have children.

-Awesome, man.
-LARRON: To drive

to my family property where
my mom and dad are staying,

do things with my children,
hunting, baking,

whatever it is.

-KEOGHAN: Okay.

Sergio looking for a start.

-[engine roars]

KEOGHAN: And Ilima will
be next for a check.

Check is not good.

-ILIMA: The hardest part

is getting my distributor on,
but I'm not putting

my head down yet.
It's not over till it's over.

-SYNETHIA: Let's go, Mister!
-MISTER: Going over the line.

KEOGHAN: Mister
looking for a second start.

Can he get it this time?

-[engine roars]
-There it is!

Whoo!

KEOGHAN: Jorge rolling
his engine across the line.

[engine roars]

[cheering]

And Beth crosses the line.

SYNETHIA:
Let's go, Beth!

[engine starts]

[cheering]

Whoo!

KEOGHAN:
And Laura's got

-the next check.
-Hey, there you go, Laura!

SYNETHIA:
You got this, Laura!

[engine starts]

[cheering]

And it starts!

Woohoo!

It was a sigh of relief.

I leaned into my strengths,

which is problem solving.

It worked for me.

And I heard the vroom, vroom.
[chuckles]

KEOGHAN:
And Ellery crosses the line.

-[cheering]
-Now we only have Jake,

Ilima,

and Aly working on their motors.

-Come on.
-Here we go.

[engine roars]

[cheering]

[laughs]

All right. It's like he won!

[cheering]

We have three motor mechanics

left on the floor.

Who will be going into overtime?

Aly has gone across the line.

BETH:
Yeah, Aly!

KEOGHAN:
Jake crosses the line,
he's waiting for a check.

If Aly's motor starts,

it is lights out

for Ilima and Jake!

Priming the motor.

Don't start, don't start...

My heart's beating.

Everybody in the room, I'm sure,

could feel my heart beating

because you don't want to be

in this overtime position.

I don't want
that stress over my head.

I never hoped for somebody
to fail so much in my life.

KEOGHAN:
Aly needs this to start

to stay out of overtime.

-[engine pops]
-Yeah, oh!

-Oh, it wants to go so bad!
-Come on.

SERGIO:
That's the timing, baby,
it's gonna start!

It's gonna start!

[engine rumbling]

KEOGHAN: If Aly's motor starts,
it is lights out

for Ilima and Jake.

-Oh, oh!
-[engine spluttering]

It wants to go

-so bad.
-Come on.

-A little spark.
-Come on.

Don't start, don't start,
please don't start.

[engine trying to turn over]

-[engine backfires]
-ALY: Dude!

KEOGHAN:
Distributor is not correct.

Bring that motor back,
Aly, and get it to work.

-Here we go, Aly, here we go.
-Come on, Aly.

What really worried me was

the firing order, I knew
how important it was,

so I need to figure it out.

KEOGHAN:
And Ilima pushes
her motor across the line.

Jake, it's all on you now.

This motor starts,

you stay out of overtime.

If it doesn't start,
you got to fix it.

And Ilima has
her motor across the line,

and Aly's got to work on hers.

We are down to just three.

-Here we go, Jake.
-KEOGHAN: Feeling nervous?

I got... I was so flustered.

[engine starts]

[cheers]

[applause]

Good job!

Yeah, I might need to check
my shorts when I get home.

I can't believe it.
This old pipeliner

lives to fight another day.

[laughs]

I did say that the distributor
was going to be the disruptor,

and it did disrupt things today.

-Should we get to it?
-Absolutely.

KEOGHAN:
Let's go to overtime.

[applause]

ILIMA:
Heading into overtime is
definitely nerve-racking.

But at the end of the day,

I'm here for one reason
and one reason only,

to give my kids a better future.

I mean, I love Aly
to death, but,

you know, it's game time.

-Yeah!
-[cheering and applause]

I'm not always the best
at bouncing back,

but I don't
really have any quit in me,

so it's going
to be a battle for sure.

KEOGHAN:
Ilima and Aly,

you are now faced with overtime,

a chance for you to fight

your way back into the
individual competition.

You're gonna be going
head-to-head,

working with these
two beautiful trucks.

Aly, I know
you love Ford trucks.

Oh, yeah.

I understand you
have a 2003 Ford truck.

Oh, yeah, it was my granddad's.

My grandpa would be
my biggest cheerleader.

He was when
I was playing sports.

He never missed a game,

um, until the day
he went to hospice.

He came to my
basketball game on the way.

So he would be
incredibly proud of me.

KEOGHAN:
Now, these two trucks both

ended up with
flat tires on the front.

How do you fix that?

Either one of you ever worked
with a plug before?

-Yeah.
-I have.

You got to get these tires off,

and you are going to fix them.

Can you hear it leaking?

Use this rasping device.

Want to make sure
that that hole

is nice and even

and rasped out.

Take one of these plugs.

You see that?
See how it's about

half an inch
sticking out there, right there?

-Yup.
-Yeah.

KEOGHAN:
Okay, you got
two tires to repair.

First of you to get

both tires repaired,

get inside your truck and
start the engine,

will stay in contention
for the Tough As Nailstitle.

If you are last,

you will be punching out.

All right,
get to the back of your trucks.

On the work whistle!

[work whistle blows]

-You got it, Aly.
-Let's go!

KEOGHAN: Ah, interesting,
two different techniques.

ILIMA:
The work whistle blows,

I'm thinking, get
my jack in place

so that when I crack
my lug nuts,

I can pump that truck up
as fast as I can.

SYNETHIA:
Go, Aly, you got this!

KEOGHAN:
Aly is loosening up
the lug nuts straightaway.

I'm thinking,
get the lugs loose,

'cause you don't want
to jack the truck up

until that happens, or else
you'll have a rough time.

BETH:
Come on, Aly.

-Aly's like a powerhouse.
-Come on, Aly. You got it.

Ilima has all her lugs
off her right front tire.

Ilima, the first
to take off a tire.

Looking for that nail.

She sees it.

She's trying to get a good grip
on it.

It's really wedged in there.

[Ilima grunts]

There you go, Ilima, nice job.

KEOGHAN:
Aly has all the lugs
off her first tire.

-Good job, good job!
-You got this!

-Come on, come on.
-There you go, Aly.

KEOGHAN:
Now that Aly has her nail out,

they're both moving
on to repairing the hole.

And they're going to
be using the rasper tool.

Now, the reason for
the rasper is making sure

that there's no debris
in there.

'Cause you want to get
a really good adhesive bond.

when you put that plug in.

JAKE:
Some of them holes,
when you go to ream them out,

it's not that easy.

It doesn't always go in
there the way you want it.

It's very demanding on your
wrists and your arms.

There you go, ream it.
There you go!

I was bouncing up and down
to try to get that thing in,

focused on figuring out
a good rhythm,

then repeating that
on the other side.

Damn.

KEOGHAN: Remember, that adhesive
is your friend.

It helps move it
into the hole easier.

ALY:
Oh, that's enough.

-That'll do.
-[chuckles]

BETH:
There you go.

Now I got to insert a plug

before I fill the air back up

and reinstall the tire.

KEOGHAN:
Got the adhesive on.

ILIMA: I put that glue all over

that plug, and I just
tried to work that plug in.

KEOGHAN:
Got to get some good leverage

from the top of the tire.

-Put your body into it.
-SYNETHIA: Let's go, Aly!

KEOGHAN: Both Ilima and Aly are
trying to force that plug in.

I know I got to stay
focused and I got to stay calm.

That split second
that you look up

to see what somebody else
is doing,

you could completely
fall behind.

KEOGHAN:
Ooh!

-Aly getting the first plug.
-[cheering]

There you go, Aly.

JAKE:
Hammer down, Ilima.

Give it everything you got.

-There you go.
-KEOGHAN: She's got her plug
done.

Real good, Ilima, there you go.

KEOGHAN:
Aly realizes she's got to jack
up her truck a little more.

-Got to give yourself some room.

They get taller
as you put air in them.

KEOGHAN:
Looking for 40 PSI.

JAKE:

KEOGHAN:
It's an even race.

Ilima has her right

front tire on,
she's got three lugs.

get those lugs on.

There's a lot of back and forth,

Man, I'm back there
sweating, too,

like, if I'm in there working.

her six lug nuts done now.

She's getting
a torque wrench on there.

JAKE:
Smart move there.

KEOGHAN:
Smart move.

Ilima drops the jack

so she can get some real torque

onto those lug nuts.

You hear
that torque wrench clicking?

[tire iron clanging]

GROUP:
Ooh...

That was
a little aggressive, wasn't it?

JAKE:
There you go. Yeah, come on!

-Come on, Ilima.
-Doing good, girl, keep it up.
Good.

ILIMA:
In the individual competition,

I realized that I was running
back for every single socket.

KEOGHAN:
Ilima is moving her cart
to the other side.

ILIMA:
The smartest thing for me
to do was

bring everything
that I need to where I need it.

KEOGHAN:
Let's hear that torque wrench
crack, Aly.

There it is.

[clanging]

Now Aly going over
to the other side.

Now it's rinse and repeat.

Come on, y'all.

KEOGHAN:
Who wants this more?

RENEÉE: Aly
is probably two seconds behind,

but she already
loosened her bolts

on the other side,

so it's very close.

JAKE:
Come on, girls!

Almost there!

KEOGHAN:
Remember what you learned
the first time around.

This is when you got
to give it everything.

BETH:
You got it, Aly, here we go.

KEOGHAN:
Oh, the sweat

pouring off Ilima!
She wants this bad.

Aly wants this bad.

Now she's got her second tire
plugged up.

-ILIMA: Come on.
-Everything you've got, Ilima!

[air hissing]

She's putting air in it.

ILIMA:
I'm having to pump air into it

to get some resistance
so that I can get that

tool through that rubber.

QUINCEY:
Oh, easy peasy.

KEOGHAN:
Wow, whoo!

That went in crystal.

[cheering and applause]

[air hissing]

Looking for 40 PSI.

JAKE:
You got it, Ilima, come on.

-Keep it up!
-ELLERY: Come on, Aly!

-SYNETHIA: Let's go, Ilima!
-Let's go, come on!

KEOGHAN:
Come on.

SERGIO:
Breathe, Aly.

QUINCEY:
Oh, they're neck and neck.

KEOGHAN:
Both great competitors.

First one to get both tires on,

get in the truck,
and start it up stays in it.

-Here we go, here we go!
-Come on, come on, come on...

KEOGHAN: Ilima's already
on to the torque wrench.

Oh, my heart's pumping.

I got to start the truck up.

Here we go, Aly! Here we go!

KEOGHAN:
One more to go.

We hear
that torque wrench click.

Bringing her tools
back to the start.

JAKE:
Get in that truck and start it!

KEOGHAN:
And Ilima running
to the other side of the truck!

[cheering]

All we got to do
is start that engine!

[engine starts]

-[cheering and applause]
-Ilima with the win!

[exhales]

[cheering and applause]

-I'm so proud of you.
-I'm proud of you, too.

ILIMA:
Cranking up that vintage motor,

it was the best feeling
in the world-- I, I made it.

You know, I-I,

I didn't apply for the show,
my family applied me.

I feel like I can't
let them down,

so I'm not going to give up.

And I want everybody on
that truck to know that

I'm a threat,

that that money's
not going to come easy.

They're gonna have to get
past me.

Can you tell me what was going

through your mind, Ilima?

My kids

and my family.

They filled out
an application for me

because they saw something
in me

that I didn't see in myself.

Aly, you were up
against some tough competition.

Oh, yeah, I wouldn't want
to lose to anybody else.

-Is that right?
-Yeah.

I mean, just getting here

and to meet these people

who I now call family

and I will call family

the rest of my life,
I'm, I'm forever grateful.

Aly and I talk a lot.

I see a lot of my younger self

in her.

She told me, "I want to be
like you when I get older."

And, you know,
I'm here to tell Aly that

she has all the skills.

She's an incredible person.

And at this point,
with her being eliminated

from the individual challenge,
I want to win this, you know,

for her because

I want to make her proud.

KEOGHAN:
I do need to

ask you to punch out
of the individual competition.

-[sighs]

The individual competition has

made me realize
I'm a lot stronger

than, um...
[voice breaks]

It's taught me that I cry,

which I don't do back home.

So that's going
to be fun for my family to see.

waiting for me back home.

But I know they have my back
back home.

They're going to be
proud of me no matter what.

and being here,
way out of my comfort zone.

But I actually have a family
here, and I don't feel alone.
