in the team competition.

(yelling)

I'm gonna take this today
because it's my fault.

Then, in the individual
competition,

-season two contestant,
Freight Train,
-(cheering)

sent everyone running packages
all over the neighborhood.

While Tak moved at breakneck
speed and took the win.

(cheering)

-Hanger and Christine were
the last to deliver
-(work whistle blows)

and were sent packing
into overtime.

This door has got to go down
to get the win.

Christine slammed
the door on Hanger...

-(cheering)
-Christine gets the win!

...leaving him to punch out.

Tonight,
teams spend some time

-with the coast guard.
-Let's go!

Savage Crew is up two-one
in the team competition

and determined to pull in
another victory.

While Dirty Hands grind hard
to even up the score.

This is Tough As Nails.

KALIMBA:
Is everybody focused on what
we got to do today?

QUINCEY: No telling
what we're gonna be doing,

but I think we got enough talent
in this van right here

to get through anything.

That's right.
That's right, baby.

It's team challenge day.

We're down.
It's two to one.

The last challenge--
that loss definitely sucked.

You know, I felt like
it was kind of my fault.

I felt like I let my team down,

but leading into today,
we feel confident.

We're gonna get the job done.

Did you guys want to do
any of these jobs

when you were a kid?

(laughs)

Uh, I wanted to be a magician.

-Yeah?
-TAK: Yeah.

-For real, Tak?
-Yeah.

I wanted to be a magician.

Whoa.

In third, fourth grade, I wanted
to be a roller skating waitress.

-JEROME: For real?
-KALIMBA: Yeah.
-(laughing)

Okay, I like baseball,
so I wanted to be

a professional baseball player.

-Okay.
-I wanted to be, uh,

a professional beach bum.

-KALIMBA: Yeah.
-LIA: Yeah?

(laughter)

KELSY: Today's challenge
is extremely important.

If we take the lead,
it's three to one.

-ALFIE: Right.
-KELSY: Which is huge.

-MIKE: Yep.
-ELIZABETH: Yeah.

We know what we need to do.

We have to move like we
already have this third won.

Like, humble still,
but we got to--

we know that this is ours.

-We need it, we want it.
-KELSY: That's right.

-That's how we have to operate.
-That's right.

-There's $12,000 on the line.
-HANGER: Yep.

It's on the table.
We're able to grab it.

Yes. We're gonna get it.

Hey, like I always say,

"When I wake up in the morning,

by golly somebody's gonna pay
for it."

(laughter)

(ship horn blows)

KELSEY:
Okay, we're going
all the way to the water.

QUINCEY:
Hey, check out the helicopter
right here.

LIA:
Oh, are we working on a ship?

KELSY:
All right, here we go.

LIA:
Whoa, guys, look at that.

KEOGHAN: What do you think?
Some big moving pieces.

-How's that for a buoy, huh?
-(laughter)

LIA:
That's a big buoy.

I want to introduce you to

Chief Gallagher
and also Captain Starsinic.

They are gonna be
watching your work today.

The Coast Guard is
the smallest division

of the US Military,

but it's also one
of the toughest to get in to.

You see the Coast Guard doing
search and rescue.

They are out there patrolling
95,000 miles of coastline.

What you might not know is

that the Coast Guard
also maintain

50,000 beacons,
lighthouses and buoys

just like these buoys
right here.

Every two to three years,

these massive buoys have to be

pulled out of the ocean
for maintenance.

Underwater,
they get completely covered

in marine growth
which has to be scraped off.

Once the Coast Guard have
swapped out their buoys

with clean repainted ones,

they bring the fouled ones
back here.

You can see that these buoys

have already been
cleaned off and repainted,

but you need to finish the job

by replacing all the old chain
with new ones.

Each team needs to get
two buoys ocean-ready again.

Dirty Hands,
you'll be on the right.

Savage Crew, on the left.

Your job today,
when that work whistle blows,

you're gonna be using all
the tools that are laid out here

to get these buoys ready
to go back into the ocean.

Start by grinding off
the old bridle assembly

and the two shots of chain
attached to the anchor.

Then replace the bridle
with a new one,

along with
two new shots of chain.

Each shot of chain
weighs 2,000 pounds.

And you have to drag
a total of four shots

across the dock to your buoys
to get the job done.

You must connect two shots
of chain to each buoy

using a Coast Guard method
called "Heat and Beat."

And don't forget to install
new solar-powered

navigational lights
on each of your buoys.

Once you've completed one buoy,

do exactly the same thing
to your second buoy.

The first team to get
the job done and ring the bell

will win today's Badge of Honor
and...

-$12,000.
-(scattered cheers)
-Yes.

Right now the team score is
two to one, to Savage Crew.

Take a moment to figure out

who's going to be

KELSY: Okay, what are we
thinking for crew boss?

I would feel comfortable
with Sarah being the crew boss.

-MIKE: Yeah. I feel Sarah...
-I'll take it.

-KELSY: Yep. Sarah's strong.

ALFIE:
Sarah is the crew boss today

mainly because
she has a military background,

so her discipline

and her eight-year experience
brings a lot to the table.

So we're confident

that Sarah can dictate
a win for Savage Crew.

-Alfie, you definitely
comfortable with the torch?
-Oh, yeah.

SARAH:
I want to get on the light.

I'm gonna have Kelsy working
with the bridles.

ELIZABETH:
And I'll grab the hooks.

-JEROME: I'll get this.
-Stick with Jerome.

Guaranteed.

-You feel confident?
-Oh, super.

-Yeah, so that's our boss.
-Super confident in this one.

Jerome is "what you see is
what you get,"

and those are the best kind
of people to know.

That's why I trust him
when he says he's got something,

because he's not gonna say it
if he doesn't have it.

Get all the shackles off first.
You work a torch before?

-Oh, yeah.

KEOGHAN:
Everybody on the starting line.

Let's get to work.

(work whistle blows)

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Chris!

(whirring)

KEOGHAN:
Both teams immediately spreading
out across the jobsite.

They've divided up the work
nicely.

Tak way out
on the end of the buoy

already working on the light.

Take it, brother.

(grunts)

KEOGHAN:
Crew boss, Sarah,
doing the same thing.

Climbing up to change
the light bulb for Savage Crew.

-(whirring)
-First step
for the rest of the crew,

remove the old bridle assembly
and chains.

Sparks are flying here today
at the Coast Guard.

ALFIE:
I'm free.

KEOGHAN: Alfie,
releases the chain

from the anchor for Savage Crew.

ALFIE:
Sarah! I need a blade, Sarah!

SARAH:
The blades are on the table!

I was chosen to be crew boss,

and my role is delegating the
task to the other crew members.

Kelsy, Alfie and Hanger

are gonna be in charge
of cutting off

and installing the new bridle
with the shackles.

And Elizabeth and Mike,
they're the muscle of the team,

so we're gonna leave them
to moving those chains.

I'm gonna focus on getting
the lights installed up top.

KELSY:
Oh, Sarah, I love you.

KEOGHAN:
Savage Crew moving very quickly.

They've already cut

their old bridle assembly
off their first buoy.

SARAH:
Look out below!

-Okay, drop 'em.
-Meanwhile, Tak and Lia get

the old light off
for Dirty Hands.

(whirring)

JEROME:
I am today's crew boss.

I work with all this stuff.
I work with shackles every day,

and grinders,
I work with all of them.

But this is different
type shackles.

I mean, thing is huge.
Nobody probably did this,

unless you was
in the Coast Guard.

KEOGHAN: Jerome's got a blade
stuck in his pin and shackle.

Dirty Hands way behind.

They haven't released any of the
old chain off their old buoy.

There we go.

MIKE:
Good work. Good work, guys.

Good work, good work. Pin me.

Once we used those grinders
and those pins were done,

a new one had to go in.

There were metal wedges
about three inches thick,

and you got
to bend them over to open

in order to be sealed in place.

So it's time to say,

"You get that side,
I got this side."

And boom,
the motion keeps going.

-Come on, come on.
-Yep, got it.

And now we're gonna drag
the chain as a team together.

KEOGHAN: Savage Crew just
solidified their lead.

They're now dragging
their new chain

so they can attach it
to their buoy.

-(groans)
-Not doing anything, Kelsy.

-Got to stand three links apart.
-Okay.

Pulling this chain is
extremely heavy.

(grunting)

It is literally dead weight.

(groaning)

KEOGHAN:
Tak and Lia have the
light up on the green buoy.

Christine gets
a pin and shackle out.

Hey, Chris! Take out the pin.

KEOGHAN:
Dirty Hands finally get
their bridle assembly off

their first buoy,

but their anchor chain is
still attached.

-We got to get this.
-Okay, come here.

-Let's see if we can try it.
-Come here. Together.

KEOGHAN: Sarah, getting
the light on for Savage Crew.

MIKE:
All right, untangle it.

-This all should be teamwork.
-SARAH: Talk to me,

-where do you need me?
-KELSY: Teamwork.

(overlapping chatter)

ELIZABETH:
Three apart from each other.

-Pull in an assembly line.
-MIKE: Yeah.

-Go down, pull. Down, pull.
-Okay, yep.

Elizabeth didn't hesitate,
and she said she got us,

and we trusted her.

And we're all gonna jump
on that chain

and move
in an assembly-like motion.

Watch out.

I've never had to drag
a 2,000-pound chain around.

Hey-- Whoa.

KEOGHAN:
Whoa, and Alfie goes down.

Get a forklift or something,
for God's sakes,

but no, they're handing us
five hooks here

and saying, "good luck."

-Hanger, you got it.
-Watch yourself, Hanger.
-No, we're good. Go, go, go, go.

Let's go, team.
I'll help you.

KEOGHAN:
Christine finally
releasing the chain

from Dirty Hands' anchor.

As Quincey works to attach
the new bridle assembly

on their buoy.

You're still in this,
Dirty Hands.

Now inchworm this one up.

-One, two, three,
-KEOGHAN: Here they go.

-four, five, stop.
-This is great technique
from Dirty Hands.

KALIMBA:
My job as a firefighter has

prepared me for this
because I am used to moving

five-inch hose
which is super heavy,

especially when it's charged.

And we do have hose hooks
that are similar

to the chain hooks that
we use to move the hose around.

It's always easier
to inchworm or zigzag.

Now we're cooking with fire.

KEOGHAN:
Savage Crew with a slight lead
at this point.

Got to get those chains
over the red line

before you connect them.

KELSY:
Get it past the line.
We're good!

Savage Crew
with both their shots of chain

over the line
for their red buoy.

Now they have to get the end of
this shot up onto the anchor.

(grunting)

Great work there
from Savage Crew.

MIKE:
Good work, guys. Good work.

We're doing good.
We're going good.

KEOGHAN:
They're the first to attach

a new anchor chain and bridle

to their buoy.

That heavy vise holds
the two shots of chain in place.

Time to turn up the gas
for the "Heat and Beat."

Fire coming. Fire coming.

-Ready? Here we go.
-Go, go, go, go.

At this point, Savage Crew,
hey, we're doing good.

Alfie has so much experience
because he's a superintendent.

All we have to do is wait
for Alfie to heat that up,

so we can start making
what they call a mushroom

with the hammers to make sure

that this pin does not drop out,

and we're looking good.

-These ones good?
-We're good on this one.

KEOGHAN:
Dirty Hands starting to catch up

as they finish off their
new bridle and anchor chains.

Savage Crew just slightly ahead
of Dirty Hands

on the first buoy.

Hanger is practicing
his hammering

because he hasn't hammered
enough in his life.

-Don't waste your energy.
-Dirty Hands watching
as Christine gets the heat on.

LIA:
Doing good, Christine!

KEOGHAN:
We've got acetylene gas
and oxygen coming through.

It's up to each of the operators
to figure out what the mix is.

Got to get that pin nice
and red hot,

and then you can start
to hammer.

Alfie's lost his flame.

-KELSY: Light him,
light him, light him.
-MIKE: Light it again.

KEOGHAN:
Alfie's having some trouble
with that acetylene torch.

Take it easy.

Relax, relax,
relax, relax, relax.

You got it.

ALFIE:
I know that Christine is burning
on the other side.

Christine is a union ironworker.

She is burning every day.

And so, obviously,
that's in the back of my head.

And just 'cause I know
how to do something

doesn't mean that she's
not doing it better every day.

All you now, Christine.
Let's go.

The gas is working fine.

They-they just don't know
how to burn them.

I have so much faith
in Christine.

She can do ironwork,
and she can use a torch.

Christine, she's gonna
catch us up.

(stammers) She gonna make
the difference up.

KEOGHAN:
Christine looking super relaxed
in this job.

You got this, guys.

This is a dead-even race
at this point.

Mike, do you want to jump
in there?

He's got it, he's got it.

Alfie, if you're not
comfortable, tell somebody.

ALFIE:
It's not lighting.

ALFIE:

KEOGHAN: Savage Crew and
Dirty Hands racing

to complete the "Heat and Beat"
on their first buoys.

Both teams have attached

their new anchor chains
and bridle assemblies.

Now they've got to join those
two shots of chain together.

It's all gonna come down to

who can get these chains
connected first.

-It's not flowing.
-It's not flowing.

Turn it all the way off
and try again.

ALFIE:
To light the torch,

we have to have the right
mixture of gas and oxygen.

And if I don't do this properly,

and I don't heat it up
just right in the given time,

it's my fault.

Yeah, sit on them, Christine.
That's all right.

KEOGHAN: Christine's trying to
get that pin nice and red hot.

Finally, Alfie getting
his acetylene torch going.

MIKE:
Good work, Alfie. Good work.

KEOGHAN:
Christine and Alfie,
neck and neck.

Who's gonna heat up
their pin first?

The Coast Guard will
let them know

when they can start beating down
on that pin.

You can do the countdown.

ALFIE:
Three, two, one.

KEOGHAN:
Savage Crew, the first to finish
heating their pin.

Go.

KEOGHAN:
Dirty Hands only seconds behind.

-CHRISTINE: ...two, one.
-Now they can bring down
their hammers.

Go!

JEROME:
Hit 'em!

Almost got it.

Go. Go. Go. Go, yeah!

Go! Smack her on the sides.

Looks good.

(overlapping shouting)

KEOGHAN:
Savage Crew have completed
their first buoy.

-One to go.
-Go cut.

-Good.
-We're good!

KEOGHAN:
Both teams moving on
to their second buoy

at exactly the same time.

-(mechanical whirring)
-Everybody knows what to do now.

This is rinse and repeat.

The first team to get
the second buoy done

wins $12,000.

HANGER:
We understood what we had to do.

And me, working around tools
for 31 years,

I'm gonna make sure
I'm going to be fast.

ELIZABETH:
This one's not even cut yet.

-What?
-That's a new one.

I come around the second buoy,

and they've already got
the bridle hooked up.

I-I couldn't even believe it.

These-- Everybody's moving
so fast.

We've got this.
I know we've got this.

KEOGHAN: There goes Quincey
with a big pin hit.

Releasing the old anchor chain
for Dirty Hands.

Light coming down.

KEOGHAN:
Tak and Lia have
the old light off,

now they're working the new one.

TAK:
Put the top one.
Put the top one first.

LIA: Having two people work on
the light was advantageous

because to be able to have
one person hold the light

and then work on the bolts
together,

I think it was key.

KEOGHAN: Lia and Tak
have finished the light

on their red and white buoy.

Coming back down
to help their team.

Dirty Hands,
done with their bridle assembly.

KEOGHAN: Sarah's back down,
having gotten

the navigational light on
for Savage Crew.

Now we have six
against six moving the chain.

SARAH:
Let's go, where we at,
where we at? Right here?

We got to work together.

This is the race right here.
The chain.

QUINCEY: Watch the footing,
watch the footing.

I feel it in my arms.
I feel it in my biceps.

I'm feeling it in my quads.

It's burning,
but we got a job to do.

We're determined
to even the score today.

Both teams with their bridles
on their buoys.

Both teams working on
their second shot of chains.

Keep going, keep going.

And both teams yet to do
the "Heat and Beat"

and join these two shots
of chain together.

HANGER:
Okay, we're over.

KEOGHAN:
Savage Crew have both shots
of their chain

across the red line
and are now attaching

one end of it to their anchor.

JEROME:

KEOGHAN:
Dirty Hands getting both their
shots of chain across the line.

Alfie's already starting
to heat that pin.

All we have to do is
wait for Alfie

so we can start hitting it.

KEOGHAN:
Christine's got the torch going.

HANGER:
Dirty Hands is hungry.
They want this win.

But we want it more.

He knows how to do it.
He knows.

KEOGHAN:
Alfie's having trouble
lighting up.

And Christine has not stopped.

This is a repeat of where
we were with the first buoy.

-It could not be closer.
-Calm.

-Calm. Focus.
-Nice and easy, nice and easy.

Slow is fast.

That looks perfect.
Just like that.

SARAH:
Brother, take your time.
We got it.

QUINCEY:
Heat it up, heat it up,
heat it up.

KEOGHAN:
This is gonna be close.

Get ready, Hanger.

Go!

KEOGHAN:
Dirty Hands getting the signal
to start hammering.

MIKE:
Let's go, boys!

KEOGHAN:
Savage Crew getting the okay
to hammer as well.

-♪ ♪
-Go, go, go!

(grunting)

KALIMBA:
Let's go!

KEOGHAN:
Tak, finishing the job up

for Dirty Hands
with a small hammer.

-(overlapping shouting)
-Elizabeth doing the same
for Savage Crew.

And Dirty Hands get a thumbs up
from the captain.

-(metal clanging)
-(bell chimes)

Dirty Hands with the win!

(cheering, whooping)

-SARAH: Good job, everybody.
-Good job, everybody.

-All right!
-Yessah!

Yessah!

That came down to just technique
with that torch.

Being able to showcase
some of my skills

as an ironworker
in the challenge was awesome.

Getting that redemption win,

it was definitely
an amazing experience.

KEOGHAN:
Jerome, great job being
a crew boss today,

and you know what that means?

LIA:

Wow, look at that ship.

Glad we didn't have to
unload that.

KELSY:
Oh. (laughing)

Thank you for everything
that you do, pushing me.

-I think we push each other.

Like, we're able to think
without being told what to do.

My dad's really pushed into me

what to do and to keep working.

He was my role model,
and he passed away in 2014.

It was 1,000 acres--

it was our last 1,000
of the season.

It was windy.

We should've not been spraying.

(helicopter blades whirring)

And then he hit a powerline,
and then that was it.

Like, I-I kn--
I saw the helicopter there,

in the field, but I just...

It wasn't clicking yet.

And, um, I actually ran

probably a quarter mile
through the beans,

um, to the helicopter.

They stopped me and told me
that he had passed on.

It's life changing
when you lose a loved one,

but it's not impossible
to keep moving forward.

I wouldn't be the person
I am today if it wasn't for him.

-I can definitely
relate to that.
-Yeah.

I think I get some of
my strength from my gramps.

Yeah. Me, too.

SARAH:
Hearing about Kelsy's dad

and just being able to see
where her experiences come from,

and, you know, what brought her
to the career that she's chose.

I think we have
a lot of similarities.

Like, I'm here now.

-Yep.
-That's all my gramps
wanted for me, you know?

-Mm-hmm.
-Like...

I'm-- I grew up in a very, uh,

-tight situation,
you know what I mean? Like...
-Yeah, yeah.

And it-it could've been really
easy for me to be a statistic

or, you know,
end up dead, basically.

But I'm here,

and I'm on the other side
of the world, you know?

Seeing things that I know
my gramps never got to see,

-but he would've wanted for me.
-Absolutely.

And he is seeing,
you know what I mean?

He's seeing everything.

Well, we got a rescue.

-SARAH: Bruh...
-KALIMBA: I like it.

ALFIE:
It's individual today.

As much as I love these guys,

at the end of the day,
what I'm developing here--

the love,
the special relationships--

can't get in the way
of what I'm here for,

and that's for
my wife and my children.

you'll be with me

since you punched out of
the individual competition.

Welcome back to the Coast Guard,
here in Los Angeles.

(cheering)

Petty Officer Levy and Mechanic
Mattox out with us today.

The Coast Guard save,
on average,

over 4,000 lives every year.

They're willing to risk
their lives to save ours.

-Mm-hmm.
-KEOGHAN: So today,

you will be saving a victim that
weighs the same weight as you.

Huh?

In order to survive
in the ocean,

the Coast Guard have
a special tool,

which is an immersion suit.

Petty Officer Levy,

would you mind explaining
to everybody

why you wear one of these.

It has 35 pounds of buoyancy,

so it'll keep you afloat
a little bit.

♪ ♪

KEOGHAN:
Now, let me tell you
how this job works.

When the work whistle blows,

you'll be putting on
your immersion suit

as fast as you possibly can.

You'll make your way
down the gangplank,

jump in the water,

swim out to your victim,
untie your victim

and bring your victim
back to the dock.

The clock stops

when you get your victim
safely back on the dock.

We're gonna be running two
randomly drawn heats.

The person with
the fastest time today

is going to get...

♪ ♪

...a guided fishing trip,
all expenses paid.

-(cheering)
-Heck yeah.

The loser from each heat
will be going into overtime,

and by the end of the day,
one of you will be punching out.

This job will test your physical
capabilities in the water,

but wearing these confining
immersion suits

is also going to test
your mental toughness.

Does anybody here suffer
from claustrophobia?

Alfie?

Claustrophobia has been an issue
in my life for many, many years.

I've had a couple of
bad situations in life

that have embarrassed my wife,
embarrassed my family,

and it's something
that I have to overcome today.

Is anybody here afraid
of the ocean?

KEOGHAN: Is anybody here
afraid of the ocean?

(takes deep breath)

SARAH:
My biggest fear is drowning.

I have never been
in this large amount of water

in my life,

so I'm definitely nervous.

KEOGHAN:
Sarah, I know you're
facing more fear than anybody

having to go do this,
but just know this,

those are tears of bravery.

-Yeah.
-Everybody believes in you,

and everybody wants to see you
do well.

KALIMBA:
If I got to save you,
I'll save you, too.

-KELSY: Yeah. Yeah.
-I got you, girl.

There's a reason I went
Army and not Navy, Phil.

(laughter)

(scattered clapping)

-That's good.
-KEOGHAN: Okay.

Is everybody ready
to get the job done?

-ALL: Yes!

First heat will be Lia, Jerome,

Elizabeth, Christine and Mike.

CHRISTINE:
Looking at the challenge,
it's gonna be short,

and it's gonna be fast.

So I know I have to be
super quick.

LIA:
I have no idea
how this is gonna go.

It's not my wheelhouse.

As a Jill-of-all-trades,

I just adjust to whatever
I've been given and hit it hard.

♪ ♪

I wish I was in the first heat.
(chuckles)

Just to get it out the way,

but it is kind of
a blessing to be second

because I can watch
everybody else

and hopefully
that'll benefit me.

KEOGHAN:
On the work whistle.

(work whistle blows)

Whoo. Very quick off the mark.

Jerome gets those boots off
super quick. Lia, too.

SARAH:
Let's go!

KEOGHAN:
Whoo! They are moving.

KALIMBA:
Let's go, Jerome!

JEROME:

CHRISTINE:
Beating Hanger in overtime,

it really gave me
a boost of confidence.

But I was the last one
to put my suit on,

so I have to make it up
in the swim.

KEOGHAN:
Lia, kicking up a lot,
using her legs and her arms.

The first to get to their victim
is Jerome.

Being a surfer,

you can see he's
very comfortable in the water.

Closely followed by Elizabeth.

Last to get to their victim
is Christine.

This is when it's difficult.

You got to use those fingers,

which are wrapped up
in this immersion suit.

I've got these big
Hamburger Helper man mitts on,

and everything I know
about untying knots,

I may have learned
from one of my puppy dogs,

because I was using my teeth.

QUINCEY:
Let's go, Lia.

(growling)

KALIMBA:
There you go. You've got it.

(laughs)

KEOGHAN:
Mike has freed his victim.

-And he's already
on his way back.
-KELSY: Good job, Mike.

KALIMBA:
Let's go, Jerome.

MIKE:
Right now, I weigh about 240.

So carrying that victim across,

I just gave it
all the power I could.

And, you know, I hear
my daughter's voice in there,

"Come on, Aquaman, let's go.
Let's save this victim."

-(gargling, groaning)
-KEOGHAN: Mike, with the lead.

He's digging deep,
making a lot of noise.

KALIMBA:
Let's go, Mike,
keep going, keep going.

-(groans)
-KEOGHAN: Jerome on the way.

SARAH:
Let's go, Jerome.

KEOGHAN:
Elizabeth has her victim free.

-(grunting)
-HANGER: Bring it in, Mike.

SARAH:
You got it. There you go.

KEOGHAN:
Jerome and Elizabeth,

neck and neck coming back
towards the dock.

Then they have to lift
their victim up onto the dock.

KALIMBA:
Kick, kick, kick.

KEOGHAN:
Mike dragging his victim,

weighs the same as he does.
It's heavy.

Christine gets underway.

Lia has her victim free.

KALIMBA:
Come on, Lia, you got it.

KEOGHAN:
And Mike gets the job done.

Finishing with
a celebratory face-plant.

Jerome and Elizabeth
fighting it out for second.

SARAH:
Yeah!

KEOGHAN:
And both getting the job done.

(clapping)

Christine and Lia left
in the water.

KALIMBA:
There you go, Christine.

KEOGHAN: The last of you to get
it done, going to overtime.

QUINCEY:
Come on, Lia.

KEOGHAN: Christine is now
out of the water.

KALIMBA:
Let's go, Christine.

KEOGHAN:
Lia finally gets to the dock

as Christine pulls her victim
out of the water.

Christine gets the job done.

(clapping)

CHRISTINE:
Good work.

KEOGHAN: And Lia,
finishing last in her heat,

so she'll be going
into overtime.

SARAH:
I don't want to let myself down

because I know I'm capable.

So I'm asking my gramps to
definitely give me his strength,

push me through
and just be there with me

as I'm going through it.

I'll be glad
when this is done, yo.

Sarah, you got this.

Being a tough person is

a whole lot bigger
than physical.

As I'm zipping up
this immersion suit,

I'm thinking,

Now my heart starts beating,
and it ain't adrenaline.

Be honest with you, it's fear.

Quincey in the water as well.

SARAH:
When I got to the starting line,

I froze a little bit.

I just have to kind of
try and stay focused

and motivate myself.

ELIZABETH:

KEOGHAN:
Sarah's in the water.

SARAH:
I don't have any quit in me

because I never saw
my gramps quit.

I feel like he was there

to almost throw me in the water
and tell me, you know,

make it count."

KALIMBA:

KEOGHAN:
Alfie is in the water as well.

KALIMBA:
That's it, baby!

KEOGHAN: Already at the other
end, we have Kelsy and Tak,

but Quincey is moving.

Sarah's almost out
to her victim.

SARAH:
My only priority right now is

just getting to the victim

so that I can buy myself
some time and breathe.

You can do this, Sarah!

-KALIMBA: There you go!
-ELIZABETH: Go, Sarah!

KEOGHAN:
Alfie approaching his victim,
but he's struggling.

ALFIE:
I'm dipping my head back.

Water's coming over my face,
and it gets in my nose.

This thing has got me trapped.

That's where claustrophobia
takes its charge.

That's where it grabs a grip
on you.

-HANGER: Oh, no.
-LIA: What is he doing?

ALFIE:
At this moment,
I'm getting into a panic state.

I'm losing it now.

ALFIE: Claustrophobia is not
a good feeling.

But I keep telling myself,
"It's an immersion suit.

It's designed to save lives

And the whole thing is
mind over matter.

I had to convince myself
it's okay,

and it allowed me to keep going.

KALIMBA:

KEOGHAN:
Remember, these victims weigh
the same weight

as each of our competitors,

and they have to get
their victim back to the dock.

The last to get it done
going to overtime.

Tak, trying to pull
his victim away,

might take the arm off
in the process,

-but at least he'll get
the rest of the body saved.
-(laughter)

-KALIMBA: Let's go, Tak!
-ELIZABETH: Go, Kelsy.

KEOGHAN:
Here comes Kelsy,
keeping up with Tak.

LIA:
Oh, look, Quincey!

KEOGHAN: And Quincey trying to
do a backstroke with one arm.

-LIA: Quincey's catching up.
-KALIMBA: Power, power!

HANGER:

Who's gonna be the first back
on the dock in this heat?

ELIZABETH:
You got it, Kelsy.

KEOGHAN: And will they have
the fastest time of the day?

-ELIZABETH: You're so close.
-JEROME: Come on,
Sarah and Alfie!

KEOGHAN:
Alfie has freed his victim,
and he's on his way back.

I am panicking a little bit,

and I have to just remind myself

that I've already gotten
to the victim.

So at this point, this is the
last task that needs to be done.

ELIZABETH:
Come on, Sarah, move!

-Use those arms, Alfie.
-JEROME: Come on, Alfie.

MIKE:
Come on, Kelsy.
You're doing great.

KEOGHAN:
Tak and Kelsy racing for the win
in this heat.

But hold on a second,
here comes Quincey.

Tak is on the dock,
as is Kelsy.

It's Quincey and Tak and-- whoa!

Tak barely winning this heat
against Quincey.

HANGER:
Come on, Sarah!

Everybody, Sarah! Come on!

-(cheering, yelling)
-ELIZABETH: Come on, Sarah!

You're still in it, Sarah.

KEOGHAN:
Alfie's got it up on the ramp.

-And Kelsy gets the job done.
-(scattered clapping)

and I went through the entire
challenge over my fear.

Seeing Alfie overcome his fear
was amazing.

-HANGER: Good job. There you go.

-KEOGHAN: Yeah.
-LIA: Yeah.

Everybody rally behind Sarah
to get the job done.

SARAH:
It was a proud moment
because I do feel

like I made my gramps proud,

and now I know that
there's no longer going to be

a limit to what I tell myself
I can and cannot do.

KEOGHAN:
Lia and Sarah will be going
into overtime.

Tak, you had the fastest time
in that heat.

4 minutes and 42 seconds.

Let's see if it's enough
to beat the fastest time

from heat one and claim
the fishing trip prize.

Mike...

JEROME:

Mike is a threat
'cause he's not only big

but he's skillful

so got to watch out for him.

KEOGHAN:

SARAH:
I want to be that first woman

to not only make the final three
but to win it.

And I know my grandfather
believed in me,

so I got to believe in me, too.

-MIKE: Yeah.

LIA:
I really want to keep going
in the individual competition

because if I stop now
I'm gonna miss out

on all those other
little adventures.

Most of the things I've
missed out on in that past

was because we had
other responsibilities

like taking care of mom.

When she was sick,
my dad did the best he could

to let us participate,
but sometimes you just couldn't.

So I don't want to be pulled out
for that just yet.

Because for the job today,

there are three green buoys
and there are three red ones.

There's a little floater
attached to each of them.

That is crucial
to getting the job done

because you are going
to be using this line

with the grapple on it
to hook them

and pull them up onto the ship.

First of you to get
all three buoys and anchors

into the locker box
will be safe.

If you're last,
you will be punching out.

So, we're not getting
in the water?

Sarah, you do not need to get
in the water.

-(laughter)
-How do you feel about that?

-Good to go.
-Smiling already.

-That's great.
-Life jackets on,
let's get to work.

SARAH:
I have experience
knowing how to focus

on a target,
and I'm hoping that

that plays to my advantage,

but Lia also has experience
with the military,

so I can't sleep on her at all.

KEOGHAN:
On the ship's work whistle.

-(work whistle blows)
-Go!

-KELSY: Come on, guys.
-KEOGHAN: Two factors--

one is the skill factor,

the second is
the strength factor.

LIA:
I've thrown a grappling hook
or two,

but just up a tree to a branch
to climb up or something.

There's a whole new pressure
when you have ten folks

cheering for you
and somebody equally capable

right beside you
doing the same thing.

KALIMBA:
Let's go, Lia.

KELSY:
Wow.

KEOGHAN:
And Lia has the first buoy
latched on

-with her grapple.
-CHRISTINE: Yeah!

KEOGHAN:
Pressure's going on.

SARAH:
Any time I compete,

I look at
looking at the competitor

as wasted seconds that I could
be focusing on what I'm doing.

I want to perfect how
I'm actually getting the buoy

so that I'm able to repeat it
on a second and third buoy.

(cheering)

Whoa,
Sarah gets her grapple on.

Now can Sarah catch up?

Sarah using her power.
This is when it counts.

-(distorted cheers)
-(grunting)

It is heavy.
It's 40 feet down.

Lia now trying to get
her grapple hook off the line.

Will it be enough time
for Sarah to catch up?

-(cheering)
-There you go!

KEOGHAN:
Sarah, up on the deck.

She's releasing the grapple hook
just as Lia's releasing hers.

Lia gets her first anchor

into the locker box
and shuts the lid.

Sarah, much quicker
with the grapple than Lia was.

KALIMBA:
Let's go, Lia.

KEOGHAN:
Now Sarah's loading
into the locker box.

Stay focused.

Sarah and Lia both
closed their first boxes

within seconds of each other.

Those two are strong women,

and I have nothing but love
for both of them.

-Whoo!
-My heart was beating so hard,

and I wasn't even competing.

KEOGHAN:
We're back to an even game here.

(sighing):
Okay, Lord. Let's go.

-KEOGHAN: Just missed.
-(others groaning)

Lia needs this throw to hook on.

(grunts)

Now Sarah, using her power
to pull this anchor up.

-JEROME: Yeah!
-KEOGHAN: Lia getting

-This is gonna be tight.

-KALIMBA: Let's go, Lia.
-KELSY: Use those legs.

KEOGHAN:
Lia's using
a different technique.

She's dragging it back, but
she's got more grip on the deck.

QUINCEY:
Lia is a Jill-of-all-trades.

There's nothing you can put
in front of Lia

that she's not gonna conquer.

She knows how to work smart.

CHRISTINE:
Nice job, Lia!

KEOGHAN:
Sarah's loading in, as is Lia.

Lia spent a lot of time
on her last grapple,

not this time.

Down to the last buoy.

ELIZABETH:
You got this, Sarah.

Concentration, crucial.

Off with the aim there.

(grunts)

-(others groaning)
-Lia short by only a foot.

-KELSY: Come on.
-Off the side of her leg.

SARAH:
Doing the third buoy,

you know,
the nerves did kind of kick in,

but I'm really good with
just calming myself down,

and it's anybody's game,

so I just have to stay in it
to win it.

-KALIMBA: That was better.
-Oh! Two feet away.

(grunts)

Lia, just to the right
of the buoy again.

-(scattered groans)
-Sarah just one foot away
from the line.

You were there,

-(grunting)

This is not

-(laughter)

-KALIMBA: Come on, Lia.
-(grunts)

SARAH:
I know that this is the one

that's gonna decide
who stays and who clocks out.

Because it's so close,
I have to turn it up a notch.

-Aw, man. Yeah, I'm good.
-Quincey, you all right?

(shouting)

KELSY: Come on, Sarah.
Make it count.

-(overlapping shouting)
-There it is!

KELSY:
You got it, Sarah!

Sarah's looking to get the line!

-Oh, it just misses underneath.
-(others groaning)

That's a great throw from Sarah.

They got the first two in
very quickly,

but this third one is getting
more and more elusive.

KALIMBA:
Oh!

KEOGHAN:
Lia's off to the right again.

Sarah's short by only a foot.

(shouts)

KEOGHAN:
That's a great throw from Lia.

-(others groaning)
-KELSY: You got it.

KEOGHAN:
She's got the third buoy
hooked up.

KELSY:
She's got it!

(screaming, cheering)

And now Sarah's got
her third buoy.

They're both pulling up
at the same time.

You got to be kidding me.

Oh, my God.

Are you kidding me?

This will come down to the pull.

Lia unhooks her grapple
right away this time.

HANGER:
Keep on pulling!

JEROME:
Wow!

Sarah's the first
to get the chain up.

JEROME: As I'm watching them
pulling these two buoys

at the same time, oh,
my heart is boiling for them.

They just don't want to lose.

They never have no give up
in them. It was amazing.

Let's go, Lia!
Let's go! Come on, Lia!

KEOGHAN:
This third chain is the hardest
and the heaviest.

80 pounds,
and they're already exhausted.

(straining)

Sarah now pulling.

Now she's got all the power.

(cheering, whooping)

Lia giving it everything,
and the anchor's just about out.

-(overlapping shouting)
-Lia pulling. Sarah pulling.

Back to the locker,
as fast as they can.

Sarah still needs
to release her grapple.

Go, Sarah. Get it off.

It'll come down to seconds.
Put it in the locker!

(cheering)

-KEOGHAN: Seconds left.

KELSY:

HANGER:

KEOGHAN:
Lia gets the win.

I definitely am devastated.

It's a hard pill to swallow.

I have respect for Lia
because, yet again,

she definitely came to compete,
and she didn't make it easy.

LIA:
The first time I won, I was like
crazy mad jumping up and down,

and that was great
because nobody else had

to lose because I won.

But this time somebody else is
punching out because I won.

Yeah, that wasn't so good.

(choked up):
Didn't feel good.

KEOGHAN:
Sarah, your grandfather would be
so proud of you.

-Yeah.
-You made such a competition
out of that.

Kalimba,
I see tears in your eyes.

I can't do this anymore.
(laughing)
