men and women

who have served
are sleeping on the streets

or in shelters.

It's transferred to the morgue.

It's held there for 30 days

while they search
for next of kin.

then the remains

The ashes are then sent
back to the VA for burial.

Do they perform an autopsy?

None is required if the patient

is under a doctor's care

at the time of death.

Autopsies are rarely
performed on the homeless.
