Never so much as an
overdue library book,

and the only mention
of him in the news

is an article in which
he chased down

a purse snatcher

who robbed an imam's wife
outside a mosque in Brooklyn.

In other words,

not the bio of a guy
who decides to murder someone

over a month-old bar fight.

is all but closed?

It's what the department wants.

He never wavered from his story,
and there's no way to prove

that he knew about Tim Bledsoe's
plan to blow up the ferry,

but he did.

It was written
all over his face.

Perhaps the two of them got
talking that night in the bar.
