designed tests that will reveal the

power of the warrior's weapon.

The Roman centurion's weapons were
simple, but they worked.

The Centurion is cutting edge because it
is one of the first times in history

that a man could make his living
entirely by warfare and killing.

specializes in Roman warfare.

The centurions, they were picked for
their size, strength, aptitude with all

weapons. There's a reason that they rose
to that rank, and that was because they

were the toughest dudes around.

You don't want to fight them. You just
don't.

During the reign of Emperor Trajan in
117 AD, the Roman army controlled an

empire that ruled over one -fifth of the
world's population.

The Roman army ruled for centuries.

They ruled the Mediterranean as far
north as the British Isles, parts of

Africa, and as far east as Persia.

Rome's dominance was due to its full
-time imperial army.

Their sole purpose...

slay enemies of the state.

The army was divided into teams of 80
men called centuries, and a centurion

commanded each century.

Discipline, order, and commitment is
what gave the legion its strength.

So the centurion within that was a very
strong disciplinarian, but that was

respected.

cowardice or falling asleep on guard
duty was often punished by death.

But how will Rome's brutal commander
fare against one of the most

armed warriors in history?

Waging war for the Rajput.

Gogan Deep Singh, a direct descendant of
Rajput kings.

He's also a specialist in Rajput
weaponry and hand -to -hand combat.

You don't just become a Rajput, you're
born one.

Rajput literally means son of a king.

They were warriors from birth, and they
dedicated themselves to the art of war.

Rajput expert Bajneet Singh is a master
of Ghatka, an

Rajput's homeland, called Rajasthan, or
Land of Kings, is in India's northwest

corner, near the infamous Khyber Pass,

The Rajputs were not...

one particular tribe.

They were an association of about 100,
and those families grew, and their

martial prowess grew until they
controlled entire kingdoms.

Repeatedly threatened by Afghans, Turks,
and other foreign invaders, Rajput

warriors became legendary for an
aggressive fighting style based on a 10

-year -old martial art and forerunner of
Kung Fu.

The Rajputs believed in Shastra Vidya.

which is the life of war, which
incorporated hand -to -hand combat and

technique so that they would always be
the aggressor, they would always be the

one to be feared on the battlefield.

Shasta Vidya was performed with blinding
speed and required the warrior to not

only master the movement, but also excel
at wielding a diverse and deadly

arsenal. These warriors came at you full
force, full of fury, full of rage, full

of joy. They were so excited to spill
your blood because it would mean greater

glory for their martial skill. They
loved the thrill of battle.

So how would the Rajput warrior fare
against a military leader like the Roman

centurion? The centurion would win hands
down. The centurion was all about

military precision.

Rajput's battle tactics fed in directly
to what the centurion was good at, and

that's battling someone who's flailing
around like...

like an awkward sissy.

I have to give my initial edge to the
Roman centurion. Rome was one of the

expansive, longest -lived, powerful
empires the world has ever known.

While the Rajput warrior had a lot of
skills, they never created an empire on

the same scale. I say, look to the
warrior who built an empire.

The Rajput weaponry was ridiculously
creative, and if you could spend that

time creating ways to kill people, for
me, that gains the edge.

With their martial skill, the Rajput
developed weapons that were engineered

execution.

The Katah, a three -bladed dagger
designed to extract the enemy's

As you can see, it's a punching weapon
because the blade is mounted forward of

the knuckles. It's deadly as hell
because you can both attack and defend.

fact, this is a particularly special

As well as being able to punch with it,
you can catch, you can deflect, you can

defend, you can entangle people, and

enough to kill. This is probably the
thickest knife and fork combo that I've

ever seen.

as well as him just slicing through the

ribs. So you've got both a cut as well
as the blunt trauma that you're

This was a very good test. Guitar is an
awesome weapon. It's a punch dagger, no

doubt about it. But you're never going
to get that close.

We also have one weapon that will make
mincemeat out of the arm of the Raj

Prakash. We'll introduce you to the
Dilapur. Okay, bring it on.

If a Rajput were to attack a centurion,
first of all, they'd be making a

mistake.

These guys are going to wait behind
their scooter and let you bounce off of

and then just stab you two inches in
your chest. You're walking around

you're still alive. Guess what?

You're not. Romans never faced the
weapons that the Rajputs have.

They never faced a sword with the
capacity of the khanda, the driving,

strength of a weapon like the qatar, the
silent death of the chakram.

Each warrior brings his own arsenal of
deadly weapons.

The Rajputs wield chakram flying disc,
the ara -coiled sword, the

khanda sword, and the qatar dagger.

Centurions carry into battle the Pelum
Javelin, Gladius Sword, the

Delabra Pickaxe, and the Scorpion
Crossbow.

The Romans' arsenal is superior because
it's more efficient and it's proven.

I don't think the Rock commanded an
empire as big as the Romans. I think

a reason.

The Roman Centurions expanded their
empire by wielding weapons that defined

slaughter.

The Delabra.

An all -purpose pickaxe for smashing
skulls or ripping apart armor.

What we have here is the Delabra. This
was standard issue to every soldier in

the Legion.

You have tremendous power coming down,
and then flipping it here, the effort of

your blow is focused right on the tip
here, so you have incredible penetrating

power for crushing rocks and crushing
skulls.

Test how much damage the Delabra can
inflict on an armored opponent.

Our team sets up a gel torso.

Here is our Rajput warrior.

Same density, viscosity as real human
tissue. Depending on which bone you

impact, I can tell you whether or not
that's going to be a lethal blow or not.

And secondly, we've got a Rajput armor.

It's got a silk covering. Underneath
there is chain mail.

And underneath the chain mail is leather
backing.

Do you think it'll make it through?

This is designed to go through rock.

Okay, so I'm seeing brachial artery
damage, humerus fracture.

Bones completely shattered.

Biceps been cut through, triceps been
cut through. I'm actually surprised this

arm is actually still on here. Let's
work our way up to the head.

There's no coming back from that.
There's no coming back from that. Armor.

Okay, so peeling this back.

Oh, my God. Holy.

This is right into the heart. I'm
feeling broken ribbed. That's deader

dead, baby.

Well, I'll clean through the silk, chain
mails, bust it apart, right through the

leather. Absolutely no protection.

No protection.

So clearly we've seen that this Delabra
is lethal, but every time you attack,

you had to commit both hands to the
attack. And while doing that... You left

your body completely vulnerable.

The battlefield, I think it's useless.

The fact of the matter is that the
guitar is only effective in the thrust.

we have a thrust, we have a cut, and the
damage speaks for itself.

In the time it took to swing this, I
would have been able to stab three times

with the guitar, as we've seen. But the
Dilabra had a much superior reach to the

guitar. As you can see, we have disarmed
you, literally.

So without an arm, without a hand, you
can't really hold your little fist spike

there, can you?

Okay, Qatar versus Dilawra. This is a
close match.

Both weapons went through armor.

Both weapons had kill shots.

If the Roman centurion can keep the
Rajput at that distance that he needs to

be able to make the straits with the
Dilawra, I have to give the edge to

Dilawra. You know me. We saw
dismemberment and the decapitation.

So in this case, back's back's the axe.

Special weapons.

The edge goes to the Roman centurions,
Dalabra.

But to properly assess both warriors, we
must consider something that can't be

measured.

An X -Factor.

And for the Rajput, their X -Factor was
that they developed a wide variety of

exotic edged weapons.

Rajputs learned warfare from birth.

The warriors spent their lives learning
how to become absolutely proficient at

every form of martial art.

so that they had absolute mastery of all
the weapons at their disposal, so they

could be deadly at the drop of a hat.

Warriors' weapons were passed down to
their offspring.

There was a great deal of pride in this
clan tradition of a father who might

have been a great warrior getting to
hand down his weapon to the son as a

of inheritance, inheritance of spirit as
well as inheritance of value.

Rajput's unique killing tools and his
mastery of them.

is a deadly combination and a powerful
force to be reckoned with.

The Centurions believe it is the man
behind the weapon that matters the most.

Their X -Factor is a battle -hardened

close combat formation fighting.

While it has a strong piercing point,
the edge is also sharp as well. So, I

mean, this, in combination with the
Roman shield, can sit here and just bite

into. A person. It's one of these things
where the design of the weapon really

shows you how to use it. Exactly. I can
stab vertical. Boom. Then I can give it

a little twist here. Then I thrust
pronated. Boom. Through the ribs. If I

To test the slighting power of the
sword, our team sets up a gel torso that

simulate a charging soldier.

You've actually broken a rib right into
the right lung. Going to collapse that

lung. Up top here, I'm seeing a broken
clavicle.

Plus, you took the guy's arms off
literally. No doubt.

Clean. Through the bone. This weapon is
not heavy.

It's minimum expenditure of energy,
maximum level of damage.

This weapon seems like it's doing some
damage, but we have a clear counter, and

that's the kunda. Now, this weapon is a
full foot longer than your weapon.

all the way toward the tip as well, so
we have the advantage of momentum.

You've got that coming towards you. It's
an onslaught. The khanda, a three -foot

slashing paper.

This is the khanda. This is the main
weapon for Rajput warrior. It's double

-edged all the way towards the tip, and
when you get it going in our circular

combat pattern, it's absolutely
devastating.

In actual battle, of course, you could
cleave downwards, but you're always

the swirling pattern, which takes
advantage of your entire musculature in

to deliver a devastating chop.

To test the cleaving ability of the
condor, our team readies the next

three sides of beef.

If you can cut through the ribs of a
cow, you could definitely cut through a

human. So let's see what you can do and
what kind of trauma you can cause. Death

is your game. Prove it.

Okay guys, this is great stuff. Take a
look.

Obviously went completely through what
we have.

One, two, three, four, five ribs cut
straight in half with the first swing.

Okay, take a look at this one.

This is pretty impressive. It's going
through the spine first, then it's

fracturing four ribs, and you have a
flail chest.

The ribs are broken on both sides.

Another instant kill. Go to the last cow

This is a clean cut through the femur.
That is very intense.

Yeah, I mean, this is a butcher's
delight. I mean, that was pretty darn

That is definitely an adequate hacking
weapon. I do have to say that the amount

of strength and the time it takes to
spin around and go through all of that

These beef targets are thicker than a
human. So if it's going through beef

The Witch Poet Range Sword has the

Usually I give the edge to the thrusting
weapon, but not in this case. This

time, the Rajput Kanda takes it. I mean,
the amount of trauma he was able to

cause with that slashing movement was
just intense.

In short -range weapons, the edge goes
to the Rajput Kanda.

The centurion's main purpose was to
maintain the cohesion of the unit, of

It was the frontal assault attack which
was always driving forward, always

maintaining a line.

But a Rajput warrior aggressively

has it in front of him. Even if it hits

the shield, it's going to bounce right
off that shield and attack another

Centurion. It's a heat -seeking missile,
too, right? Yeah. This is a deadly

weapon. Easy, warrior princess.

You can take your toy to the beach next
week and have a catch. But in the

meantime, we have a weapon that is twice
as proficient and incredibly deadly.

The Scorpion, a crossbow on steroid.

that showered enemies with a battery of
bolts.

The Scorpion was the modern equivalent
to artillery.

You're raining down bolts the size of
large tree branches into an enemy. You

have damage delivered in a very
efficient way.

There's no other long -range weapon that
could compare to it.

To fire the Scorpion, its wooden arm is
pulled back with a wench, twisting its

horsehair coils.

When enough tension builds, it's ready
to unleash its deadly bolts.

The Scorpion was the machine gun of the
ancient world.

It definitely was rapid fire for its
time.

It takes about 15, 20 seconds to pull it
back and reload again. Firing 30 -inch

bolts into the enemy, that's definitely
going to hurt.

A lot of dead Rajputs. Bam, bam, bam.

How far can the Scorpion accurately
strike?

Find out how teams set up targets at 25
-yard increments.

You're going to be given six bolts, and
you'll be on the clock to see how fast

you can fire them. Sound fair to you
guys? Sounds good to me. Sure, if we can

move the targets as close as they were
for the shotgun.

Oh, crybaby.

Long -range weapon. Let's get to it.

Even for a bow and arrow, this is quite
a tight grouping.

The scorpion hit the 25 and 50 -yard
target. But what kind of penetrating

does it have?

the 50 yards. Right in there, baby.

You still have the same kind of

Four hits at 25 yards, one hit at 50

If it's compared to my sucker, you got
to take 40 seconds to shoot one arrow,

and it's immobile.

It is immobile, but it was mechanized

Like, this thing had a much greater
range than your truck ever could.

warfare is fine, but this is one -on
-one, and I think you lose.

For which long -wearing weapon will get
the egg?

The chakram was a frisbee. Oh, the
scorpion. I love the scorpion. What the

The battle tactics of the Roman
centurion were perfect for disabling the

These Rajputs would come in with their
weapons twirling. It's not very

tissue. We'll be able to see just

what kind of damage you can do with
these.

This is an impressive weapon, but I'm
seeing fatigue in the man.

I'm not seeing a lot of kill ability in
the target.

I got to disagree with you a little bit,
Jeff, because if you get lacerations

like this in the right spot, you can hit
the carotid and you can kill. It's a

smaller spot and it's an issue of
accuracy, so it has the potential to

think it's a lot more bark than bite.
This weapon isn't practical on the

battlefield. A whip is effective at its
apogee. Once you close the distance in

there, it loses its effectiveness.

Point blank. That's it.

So it's a great bitch slap with no kill
ability.

Absolutely.

And the centurions had a mid -range
weapon they claim can close the distance

kill.

The pilum.

A javelin designed to punch through both
shield and soldier.

This is the pilum. It was the Roman
flying missile of death, the backbone to

Roman legion. This bad boy could take
down an enemy from 50 to 100 feet away,

problem. But it could be used in a melee
fashion, hand -to -hand combat. You can

go underhand, come up under their
shield. It could go through armor. But

the primary use for this was as a
projectile weapon.

We have three blood bags and a rajput
shield.

The shield is going to help us test the
penetrating power of the telum.

These blood bags are roughly the size
and shape of a human torso.

And this just isn't a bag. It's made of
leather. So if you can pierce that,

there's a very good chance you can
actually pierce human skin. I think that

be a ring.

Yeah.

Matt, are you ready? I'm definitely

Oh, got it.

This is exactly what would happen to

You've got it. You're still swinging it
around. You're still, like, defending.

And you're still doing three useful
swings to try and get one that had no

on the helmet. But you lost your weapon.
But you have no weapon to start with.

So which medium -range weapon brings
more blood to the battle?

The key here is the amount of trauma
that we see. The pulum actually goes

through the body and has a very good
chance, if it hits the right target, to

kill. So in the end, edge, peel him.

The team tested four Roman Centurion
weapons.

The Pelum Javelin, the Gladius Sword,
the Delabra Pickaxe, and the

Scorpion Crossbow. They tested four
Rushput weapons.

The Chakram Flying Disc, the Arar Coiled
Sword, The Thunder Sword and the

Katar Dagger.

At long range, the Rajput Chakram went
up against the Centurion's Scorpion.

I like the Scorpion because it has the
reach. But the Chakram, way fast reload

time and you're mobile.

Edge Rajput.

For mid -range weapons, the Rajputs are
off.

Battle the Centurion's Pilo.

The aura looks menacing. It's very
interesting, very dramatic, but it's

causing small lacerations. It's really
not killing anybody. The peel can

actually kill.

I got to give the peel.

It's Centurion.

At close range, we compared two razor
-sharp swords, the Centurion's gladius

the Rajput's konda.

Usually I give the edge to the thrusting
weapon, but not in this case. This

time, the Rajput Kanda takes it.

The amount of trauma he was able to
cause with that clasping movement was

intense. Edge, Kanda.

Edge, Rajput.

Finally, for special weapons, we pitted
the Rajput's Katar against the

Centurion's Dalabra.

I'm giving this one to the Labra. It
gives you that extra reach, and when it

does hit its target, it does more
damage.

Edge.

Centurion.

the winner.

At this point, having seen both arsenals
in the hands of our warrior experts,

I'm really conflicted. Could go either
way. There's only going to be one way to

find this out, and that's to run the
Sins.

After a thousand battles, our Rajput
emerged victorious.

615 kills, the Romans 385.

This is due in large part to the
Rajput's hitting power in a one -on -one

The Roman was really designed to fight
with his legion, and without the

additional men at his side, he just
wasn't able to stand up, the Rajput

I'm not all that surprised that the
Rajputs won.

They had weapons that were engineered to
kill.

And they focused on high level martial
arts training in every man. And that was

a deadly combination that the Roman
centurions just couldn't handle.

You know, I got to give it to the Raj,
but their weapon, I still don't believe

they're efficient.

You know, but they got the job done. I
can see how that jewelry might cut you.

We're all about our faith. We're all
about our honor. We're all about our

victory.

And proving that we rightfully deserve
the title of deadliest warrior.
