These are goody bags for my sleepover.

-[doorbell rings]

-Hi!

-Uh, we could make fortune tellers.
-How about we play a game?

-Sardines.

Um, Asha,
I have lots of other good stuff to eat.

[laughs] Not that kind of sardines.

Sardines is this great game I know.
It's kind of like reverse hide-and-seek.

-How do you play?
-It's easy.

One person hides and everyone else seeks.
When you find the first person,

you hide with them
until everyone is together again.

Sounds fun.

-Okay, let's play.
-I'll hide first.

You guys stay here and count to ten.

-[footsteps departing]

[Addy, Maya chuckling]

[Asha chuckles]

We're playing a game called sardines,
and I'm trying to find everyone.

I think I heard lots of giggling upstairs.

-[Maya, Asha chuckling]

-[Maya] That's hilarious.

We were waiting for you to find us.

Then Maya thought it would be fun
to draw on our faces.

How about we go down
and make fortune tellers?

Or we could go see what's
in Addy's goody bags.

that dance we did at school last week?

I have some paper and pencils in my room.

[Stillwater mumbling]

-[mumbles]

[chuckles] Hello, Lexi.

I was just saying good evening
to a visitor in my yard.

Have you been doing origami?

Oh, yes. Sort of. It's a fortune teller.

How does it work?

I'll show you. What's your favorite color?

Well, tonight the silver moon is calling.

Okay.

I'll spell out the word, S-I-L-V-E-R.

Now I'll open this flap
and read your fortune.

What does it say?

"You will make a new friend."

[laughs] Perhaps that's our new friend,
Mister Owl.

[hooting]

-[sighs]
-Ah.

It looks like your friends are inside
with their fortune tellers, Lexi.

They are.

But you came outside.

Yeah. I think I want to go home.

I feel like my friends forgot about me,
Stillwater.

They hardly noticed when I was
the last one to find them in sardines.

And they all did this dance
that I never learned.

And it felt like they just ignored me
when I suggested making fortune tellers.

They probably don't even know I'm gone.

[Addy] There you are, Lexi.

Come on inside.

We're getting ready
to do a sleeping-bag race.

No, thanks. I'd rather stay out here.

Really? Are- Are you sure?

Are you okay?

I was just about to tell Lexi a story.

You were?

Did you say you have a story, Stillwater?
I want to hear it too.

Wonderful. Come sit and join us.

Long ago in a small village,

preparations were being made
for the coming monsoon rains.

They had just completed
harvesting their crops,

and all agreed that a special building,

a granary,
must be the built to protect them

from the great rains that were on the way.

Here is where we should build the granary.

It is wide and flat.
This is the perfect spot right here.

-Great idea.
-Okay.

[Stillwater] However, there was one wise,

but quiet villager, who did not agree.

But it's too low.
It will flood here during monsoon season.

-[clamoring]
-[Stillwater] But no one was listening,

so no one heard.

[sighs]

We should build the granary
out of bricks made of mud.

-Bricks are a good idea.
-That sounds perfect.

Yes, that's what we should do.

But what if the mud bricks melt
in the rain?

It would be better
to build a granary out of wood.

[Stillwater] But again,

the quiet villager's voice
was not listened to.

Listen to me.
I know what I'm talking about.

These are fine bricks, yes.

[thunder rumbling]

[Stillwater] The quiet villager knew
that a granary should be built up,

off the ground, on stilts.

He thought about speaking up
to remind the others

-but felt that no one listened anyway.
-[sighs, groans]

[Stillwater]
So this time, he remained silent.

Look at that. Almost finished.

Our grain will be perfectly safe in here.
Mark my words.

-We built that.
-Looks very safe.

-Oh, Seems sturdy.
-[thunder rumbling]

[gasps, stammers]

[Stillwater] The granary was completed.
And the monsoon rains came.

Soon, as expected,
the village was flooded.

The mud bricks grew soggy and melted,

just as the quiet villager
had said they would.

[cries] No.

-Oh.
-All this work for nothing.

What are we gonna do now?

[Stillwater] All of the crops they
had stored inside the granary were lost.

That quiet villager should have spoken up.

He tried,

but the other villagers didn't listen
to him.

What do you think, Addy?

I think maybe you're both right.

The quite villager
should have kept trying to speak up.

Sometimes it's hard to speak up,

especially when you feel
like no one is listening anyway.

Is that how you feel tonight, Lexi?

Yes.

Oh, I'm so sorry. I had no idea.

Yeah, me too.

I think I should
have listened better, too.

I'm pretty sure you were the one

who first suggested we make
fortune tellers, Lexi, not me.

Thanks.

-We should have listened better.
-I'm sorry.

I know I should have kept trying
to speak up.

It's just- I don't always know
how to get people to listen.

It can be difficult for all
of us sometimes, Lexi.

But there may be some things we can do
to help us be heard.

Like what?

Try this.

Take a deep breath
and sit up straight and tall.

[chuckles, inhales]

Wow.

As soon as I sat up tall and confident,
everyone looked at me.

Okay, uh, that's enough.
You can stop looking at me now.

[laughing]

to the sleepover now, Lexi?

You can decide what we do next. Okay?

Okay. Two words. Popcorn buffet.

-Yes!
-That is an excellent idea.

-[chuckles]
-Goodbye, Stillwater!

-Delicious.

[Addy] Looks like some other people
like popcorn too. [chuckles]

-[chuckling]

[Michael speaks indistinctly]

Ah, isn't it wonderful, Mister Owl?

-The sounds you can hear at night.

-[footsteps approaching]

It snowed last night!

Oh, yeah!

There was supposed to be a huge snowstorm.
Let's go check it out.

[Karl] Whoo! Snow day!

[Michael] Aw, seriously?
This is the huge snowstorm?

It was supposed to be up to my knee,
but it's barely a sprinkle.

But we can still stomp through the snow
and make footprints, right?

Sure. But if it snowed as much
as it was supposed to,

we'd be able to do a whole lot more
than just footprints.

-[door opens]
-[Molly chuckles]

-Yeah! This is awesome!
-Yeah! [giggles]

Hey, look!
Molly and Leo are making snow angels!

[Michael] More like grass angels.

I guess I'll go say hi.

Too bad about the snow, isn't it?

What are you talking about?
This is awesome! [chuckles]

We made snow angels and snow starfish.

And snow bananas.

[giggles]
It didn't snow where we used to live.

So, this is the first time it's ever
snowed at our house.

That's cool, but this is way less snow
than there usually is.

Just wait until it actually snows,
then you'll really love it!

I'm sure we will, but we love this too.

Oh! You know what we haven't done yet?
Snowballs!

Yes! Great idea, Leo.
Let's go find some fresh snow.

But this snow isn't wet enough
for snowballs.

If you pack it together,
it'll just crumble.

Go ahead. I'd rather wait for better snow.

Here comes the first snowball pitch
of the season.

[grunts] It's going, going�

And it didn't get very far. [giggles]

At least we found a way
to make it snow. [chuckles]

I told you. This isn't good snowball snow.

It's still the first time we ever
made snowballs from our own front yard.

And I think that's pretty exciting.

What other fun snow things can we do?

Not much.

Hmm. Well, I just thought of something.

Oh, me too!

Okay, we both say it on three.

-Snowman!
-[chuckles]

Exactly what I was thinking!

-I've got the mustache already.
-[giggles]

I hate to break it to you,

but there's not even enough snow
to make a snowman.

Then we can make a snow blob.
Come on, help us scoop.

Our very own snow blob!

[chuckles] Let's name him Charlie.

What do you think, Michael?

It's not really a snowman.

He is pretty small. [sighs]

You guys are gonna love my next idea.

I think we should finally
use our new sled.

Yes! We've never been sledding before.

But that sled won't move well
through all this thin snow.

Just wait for an actual snowstorm,
you'll have way more fun.

Michael's right.
There isn't that much snow for sledding.

Okay.

Well, if no one wants to go sledding,
who wants to go in for some hot chocolate?

I've always wanted to have hot chocolate
on a cold, snowy day.

Then you're gonna love it
when it's really cold.

This is hardly cold at all.

This snow is good enough for us.

Hello, Michael.

Hi, Stillwater.

It's a beautiful morning, isn't it?

I am always surprised to wake up
to a dusting of snow.

I guess.
I just wish it was the fun kind of snow.

I didn't realize there was a difference.

There was supposed
to be a big blizzard last night.

And I was really looking forward
to sledding through huge piles of snow

and building epic snow forts
with my friends.

We can't do any of that in this.

How interesting.

Personally, I enjoy the snow
whether there's a big storm

or just a few flakes.

[sighs] Molly and Leo thought so, too.

They were so excited all morning trying
to play in the snow,

even though there was really no point.

I tried to explain they should wait
until we get better snow,

but they didn't want to listen.

Then they just went inside
and left me out here.

When they see what the best snow is like,
then they'll really have fun.

Hmm. I once heard of someone
who had a similar problem.

Only he was looking
for the best vegetables,

not the best snow.

I bet there's more to the story than that.

Indeed there is.
Would you like to hear it?

[Stillwater] Ahmet arrived at the market
ready to do his weekly shopping.

But when he got
to the first vegetable stall,

he didn't find quite
what he was expecting.

Eh, too small.

[Stillwater] Moments later,

Yara visited the stall,

and picked up the very same pepper
Ahmet had just put aside.

What a beautiful pepper.

It's a bit small
for the salad I was going to make,

but will be just the thing
to add to a vegetable stew.

[Stillwater]
And so it continued at the potato stall.

[Ahmet groans] Too dirty.

Look at this wonderful potato.
It will make my stew even more tasty.

[Stillwater] And the tomato stall.

Ugh, too many spots!

Wow. Such a juicy tomato.

Just think how amazing it is
that it started as a little seed

and grew into this delicious tomato
we can enjoy. [chuckles]

[Stillwater] The two shoppers

-went to all the same stalls that day�
-Ugh.

-[Stillwater] �but they ended up�
-Wow!

[Stillwater] �with very different results.

[groans]

[gasps] These are beautiful.

Ugh.

I like this.

[groans] What a disaster.

What a wonderful day at the market.

Yara, how could you possibly fill your bag

when today's offerings
were so unimpressive?

The peppers were small.
The potatoes were dirty.

-The tomatoes had spots.
-It doesn't matter to me.

They will all still be good to eat tonight
in my hearty vegetable stew.

[sighs] Guess all I'm having tonight
is cold leftovers.

Ahmet, would you like
to come over for dinner?

[chuckles, sniffs] Yara, you were right.

If you had been like me and only looked
for the best vegetables,

we would never have
tasted this delicious stew.

Everything's the best
if it's what you need.

I guess Yara's vegetables are kind
of like the snow.

Today was really special
for Molly and Leo,

even if it just snowed a little.

All I did was complain about
how it wasn't good enough for me.

How do you think your comments
made Molly and Leo feel?

It probably made them feel
like they didn't want to be around me.

No wonder they went inside
and closed the door.

I guess I have some making it up
to them to do.

Charlie is looking really good.

for complaining about the snow earlier.

We could've been having fun in the snow,
