‫Hey, guys, welcome back to our first section of the course.

‫So in this video, we're going to learn how to import AutoCAD plans and to sketch up.

‫Now, before we import AutoCAD blends in a sketch up, I want to quickly run through those basic necessities.

‫What you need in your article plan.

‫We don't need everything to be important.

‫Sketch out just the basic ones so that we're good to go for our modeling as well.

‫I think in the US they start with the first floor and then the second and third button in yes density

‫the ground floor, first floor and second floor.

‫So it's always Duplass one, Duplass two, Duplass Stan and so on.

‫And you can also notice that I've deleted all star dimensions, so this is essentially a walking drawing,

‫which I've boiled down to just the bare necessities.

‫So we have our walls of windows, furniture, our God and our road.

‫We can also delete our furniture if required, if you don't want to see that in SketchUp.

‫And these are the bare necessities that we need to import into SketchUp.

‫And it's also important.

‫Federative this plan in order to complete shift.

‫And the materials bought into it.

‫Or did.

‫You can see that my plan is perfectly horizontal in some cases.

‫There would be lines on the top.

‫Let me see if I can you or Lane know that.

‫It's called a thickness.

‫So I'm going to give a thickness of around, say, 10 feet.

‫So you can see that that ultimately creates a 3D line, or if you want to make this to zero, this is

‫just a line at the x ray plane, go to a front of you.

‫So do a selection by clicking one seal and drag select to the top left.

‫Again, whatever comes in the bottom, will you get selected?

‫Likely go to properties, change the thickness to zero.

‫So that makes sure that everything is on duty.

‫Go back to your top, you.

‫Rotate this as well.

‫These are our three plans.

‫The ground floor, first floor and second floor.

‫And we're gonna put this in SketchUp.

‫So type in comptrollers to save even Odegard and close.

‫So I'm going to open sketch up, number plate sketch up to open it up.

‫I'm going to say.

‫Architectural MMS because that's what we need for disclose.

‫We can delete lotto, so select all delete.

‫No will to file, click on import.

‫I'm going to change my format to AutoCAD file format.

‫Select the file.

‫Now, let's say your unit is in meters.

‫You need to go to auctions and change the model units two meters and then it inputs it correctly.

‫So I can simply select AutoCAD plan and you can input.

‫Tool is a pretty cool tool which I've not covered in the introductory series.

‫So there's three benefits to the tape measure tool.

‫So I'm going to quickly make a group and projector's.

‫So one is to create construction guides so you can see that we can carry multiple guides.

‫We can also create reference lanes, dash lanes.

‫That is another useful function of the tape measure tool as to scale stuff in SketchUp.

‫Now, let's say I want to scale this down.

‫So when I activate the tape measure dool with the group selected click once.

‫It's like the second time and now I can type in the length you can see in the bottom corner.

‫We have until value to these SAYES models.

‫So that was how you import AutoCAD plans into sketch out.

‫One last thing, what I need to do is go to your tags.

‫So these are the different layers that came with to get blend.

‫We do not require these layers.

‫So click one's whole shift on your keyboard and click the second time.

‫So that's Elix, all the layers and click on the minus button.

‫Now we need to move the content to default.

‫So click okay?

‫And it moves all of it to untagged layer, which is the default.

‫What's going to create a new tag and cause it is holds.

‫You can go ahead and create multiple tags and assign your and mardon Scooby's tags, but you're going

‫to use this tag.

‫And we're going to make this tag as active bag based, simply clicking on the corner of this back.

‫So the pencil changes you.

‫And this is our active tag.

‫So what do we model in our sketch?

‫From your own oak is going to be in that whole stack.

‫So we've imported all the good plan.

‫And in the next video, we're going to start creating a waltz floor, slabs and more.
