How did you kill Stephen Hicks?

Jeffrey Dahmer lived quietly in a
Midwest suburb,

but nobody knew of the horror taking
place behind his apartment door. He was,

quite simply, a monster in human form.

As the body count reached 17, Jeffrey
Dahmer's increasingly sick and twisted

lifestyle came to an abrupt end.

Officers responding to a routine call
-out discovered the rotten and dissected

remains of his victims scattered across
his apartment.

Our paranormal investigation will
explore this sinister and bizarre

world that Dahmer created as we retrace
the solitary evil path that led to so

many deaths of young men. Will the
spirit of this man who was actually

as pure evil still haunt the scenes of
his crimes?

We aim to find out.

Jeffrey Dahmer was a twisted serial
killer and cannibal and up to all kinds

detestable activity.

He was smart.

Serial killers are usually pretty smart.

And one of the things Dahmer knew is
that if he chose people who wouldn't be

missed, then he could go undetected for
longer.

Our paranormal investigation into this
dark ritualistic necrophile aims to make

contact with him from the other side.

Our journey begins at Dahmer's childhood
home, the place he committed the first

of many murders.

We will investigate the club Dahmer
frequented, where he used to stalk and

select his victims.

And finally, we'll conduct a seance on
the very grounds where Dahmer lived, and

which was to become the gruesome
graveyard for so many young men.

As a child, Jeffrey Dahmer dissected
dead animals and by his teenage years

an alcoholic loner. Who could have
guessed that this strange young man who

and cannibalized his victims would end
up becoming one of the world's most

notorious serial killers?

I don't think trying to summon up the
ghost of Jeffrey Dahmer would be in any

way wise.

This would be someone to avoid.

Jeffrey Dahmer grew up here in the small
rural town of Bath, Ohio, a middle

-class boy from Middle America.

The fractures in his parents' marriage
left him feeling isolated, and by the

time he was 18, Dahmer had gone from
having a fascination with roadkill and

bones to something much more sinister.

To help us gain insight into Dharma's
mind, I've arranged for Bobby and I to

meet his classmate, John Bachter, at the
playing fields where they used to hang

out. First, tell me how you came into
contact with him.

Well, I met him at school in seventh
grade, which is when we were about 12 or

13. What was he like?

He was a quiet kid, black horned rims,
blonde hair, just another...

You know, shy nerd walking the halls of
Eastview Junior High.

So when did you start to get to know
Dahmer better?

High school, like a few years later. He
was an outsider. I mean, he didn't have

any close friends, and he just sort of
tagged along after us. And then his

behavior got so dark that we just kind
of said, eh, I don't think so. In what

way was it? Well, mostly the drinking.

I mean, he would smell of liquor,
scotch.

He had seven in the morning before
class.

And, I mean, Dahmer wasn't drinking for
fun. I mean, he was trying to quiet the

voices in his head that were telling him
to do these horrible things.

It would seem, John, that in our
investigation, it's going to be critical

to see where he lived.

Yeah, it's right around the corner, and
we can go there right now.

So, John, this is the Dahmer household.

Did it look like this back in the 1970s?
It looks exactly the same, actually,

yeah. And when was it that what happened
here came to light?

When the whole thing blew up in
Milwaukee, then they revisited his

and I think he confessed that he had
killed his first victim there, and then,

course, all the cops descended upon here
and tried to find, recreate the crime

scene. And what did they find?

Well, they found little bits of bone all
over the property back there. And, you

know, he gave them a pretty detailed
account of what he did. And, you

know, they found what was left of the
poor kid.

Oh, did you get any sense of what
happened here? He was looking for

things like that to kill.

You know, he had started to really get
into that. He picked up collected

animals.

And he dissolved them in acid. His dad
was a chemist, so he could look at the

bones. Well, this is definitely where it
all began.

It was clear to me that here, the place
where Dahmer slaughtered his first

victim, should also be the first stage
on our paranormal investigation.

Little did we know the evidence that
would be coming our way.

How did you kill Stephen Hicks?

Barbell. Jeffrey Dahmer had a fairly
happy childhood, but after a routine

operation at the age of six and his
parents' divorce, Dahmer started to

As a teenager, he had a fascination with
dead animals.

And it wasn't long before he began to
construct fantasies of sex with dead or

unconscious men.

It was here at this unassuming suburban
family home that Dahmer committed his

first murder. After luring a hitchhiker
to this house, he battered his 18 -year

-old victim to death with a barbell
before cutting the body up and placing

bin liners. I wanted to start our
paranormal investigation here.

From everything we've learned so far,
Bobby, I thought it was crucial to our

investigations that we come back here
right to the heart of the matter.

Absolutely. To Jeffrey Dahmer's family
home. This is going to be key in our

understanding of how he grew up. Shall
we go and take a look? Yeah.

This was where Dahmer lived with his
father.

It's a large property on a long wooded
road and has four bedrooms, a kitchen,

bathroom and the living room where
Dahmer killed Stephen Hicks.

It also has a crawl space.

I had arranged for Bobby and I to meet
Chris Butler, the house's current owner,

who would fill us in on Dahmer's first
murder.

A hitchhiker named Stephen Hicks was his
first victim.

I believe he was bludgeoned with a
dumbbell in a family living area.

He put the body, either entirely or
whatever, in the trunk of his car, then

it down to the crawlspace and
dismembered it and scattered the bones

Everything that you've described,
obviously, the gruesome history of the

something you give any thought to

when you're here?

Most of the time, no.

But I will say on certain dark winter
nights, I get a sense of like, oh my

what did I do and what was I thinking?

It was the beginning of a really
horrible crime spree.

Have you ever been in the crawl space?

Sure. And how does that make you feel
when you go in there?

It's creepy.

In the back of my mind is always the
memory, the fact that something happened

here and not only something, it happened
right here. And that does creep me out.

Bobby took the chance to investigate the
woods while it was still light.

This is the place where Dharma scattered
the remains of his victim, standing in

the woods and spinning in a 360 -degree
circle.

Or at least was. I don't know if they
dug them all up or not, but from what

seeing, there's just pieces everywhere.

I can see him sitting back here and
holding a skull in his hand and, like,

wanting to bury it, not wanting to let
it go.

I think this is huge right here.

With Bobby already feeling a presence we
began our investigation at one of our

most connected locations ever.

We started in the kitchen.

Yeah? Yeah.

You know, normally I don't ask you, but
this time I'm going to ask you, what are

the first things you feel walking into
this place? What does it make you feel

like? The only way I can say is my legs
felt really heavy as if they wouldn't

quite carry me into the house.

You don't have to do it in any
situation. I just felt a draft.

Bobby felt drawn to one of the bedrooms.

Even I was beginning to feel nervous.

But was that merely because of the
house's gruesome history?

See, they both feel quite strong.
There's a lot of negative emotions back

Do we have a light?

Yeah. This one feels really bad.

Are we able to establish Bobby? I know
in the short time we've spent here.

If this was actually Dahmer's bedroom?
We don't know. I asked Chris earlier. He

doesn't know which one was his room.

Do you get any sense? That's what I'm
saying. Both of them feel really

to me. I want to go in the other bedroom
just because.

being drawn to that.

But... This seems more like his room.
There was a lot of negativity

in that room.

Maybe some activity took place there. I
know it's Dahmer related.

As far as his room goes, I'm going to

I think I've already asked three or four

I had wanted to probe further, but to my
frustration, Bobby felt it was unwise

to provoke the supposed spirit of Dahmer
any further.

Fascinating.

To keep the investigation moving
forward, I took Bobby to the crawl

Against my better judgment, I think
we'll just leave Bobby to it. Give him

peace and quiet and see if he can pick
up anything genuine about what went on

down there. I know there are various
points in the woods out here that are

interesting. Do you want to show me

Where the bones were scattered?

Yeah, okay.

Interestingly,

Chris took me to the place where Dahmer
had scattered his victim's bones.

This was exactly the place Bobby had
identified, yet he couldn't have known

this. Wow, this really is into kind of
the deep, dark woods, isn't it?

This almost looks like an altar.

Definitely has kicked me out many a
time.

I believe...

The bone fragments were in this general
area.

Okay. Chris, I haven't actually heard
what happened in the crawl space where

just left Baldy. Can you describe to me
what went on in there?

From what I understand, Jeffrey had sex
with the corpse and then dismembered it.

In that crawl space? In the crawl space,
yeah.

Okay.

This is where Dahmer hacked up and put
Stephen Hicks in one

of the most gruesome crimes that has
ever taken place, and I'm standing right

the middle of it.

No evil or anything can dwell here any
longer.

We just finished our investigation at
Jeffrey Dahmer's childhood home. It was

fascinating. Perhaps because it was such
a great resolution, it was really

difficult to separate.

the feeling that you have when you go
there, which is you know that something

terrible happens.

We did hear a few sort of noises,
particularly Bobby felt strongly about a

of noises, which I still think came from
a window frame in one of the bedrooms.

And then Bobby went downstairs to see a
call space and really did not want to go

in there.

He got some interesting evidence on the
EMS meter, specifically asking a

question. and asking it to light up. It
was the basement of a house, however,

and there were electrical elements
downstairs.

It could have been that, but to get it
to light up on request, I'm still trying

to explain that one to myself.

I don't think we can dismiss the
experience factually, and I certainly

those things are not paranormal either.

Our paranormal investigation had got off
to an amazing start, but I wanted to

have a conversation with this evil
killer.

We headed to Milwaukee, the city Dahmer
made infamous for the murder and

cannibalistic mutilation of 16 men.

Very, very toxic.

After the murder of Stephen Hicks, it
would be several years before Jeffrey

Dahmer killed again.

He moved to West Dallas to live with his
grandmother, but in 1988 she asked him

to move out due to his drinking, late
nights, and the foul smells coming from

the basement.

Dahmer was this slender, slight guy who
relied upon...

his charm.

He would then use various non -physical
techniques to knock them out and

do what he wanted with them.

After finally moving into his own
apartment, Dahmer really began to

indulge in his murderous fantasies. For
the next few years, Dahmer stalked

Milwaukee, murdering and hacking apart
12 men.

try to trap in their skull, cut a hole
in their skull and turn them into

and pour a drain over something, trying
to make them into the living dead here

for his sexual playthings. So he was
someone that added a new sick and

twist to serial killing and what he
would do to his victims.

Jeffrey Dahmer would find his victims in
Milwaukee's gay bars.

He would spend most evenings here in the
recently closed down Celebi nightclub.

This seemed to me to be the next logical
stage of our paranormal journey.

Bobby, this building here in front of us
is Bellevue, the nightclub. It has been

for the past 37 years. Probably won't
surprise you to know that it was exactly

around this area, particularly here, and
then the other club just up in three,

where he came to stalk for his victims
and to hang out in all the different gay

bars. Interestingly, though, it also has
some rooms for rent just above the bar.

I'm sure you can imagine what sort of
things went on in there, all behind

doors. So this was a pretty...

Yeah, this is going to be, like you
said, an important place. We're walking

Jeffrey's footsteps.

And, I mean, I think it was here already
kind of getting the sense and the

feeling that it was here that Dahmer
went on his killing marathon.

I went to meet up with the club's owner,
Marty, to hear about Salovey's infamous

history. Marty, thanks very much for
having us at the bar.

Tell me a little bit about the history
of C 'est la Vie.

C 'est la Vie has had the biggest and
best reputation in the city for a drag

bar. Jeffrey Dahmer came to the bar
here. What do you remember of him?

Actually, he was such a quiet person,
you didn't even know he was here.

The only reason I knew him is because in
those days I had a young man who came

in here.

And he was actually dating Jeffrey for a
couple weeks.

The only thing is that he was smart
enough that he never went home with

And that's the only reason he's alive
today.

How did it make you feel when you think
he was actually coming here to stalk out

his victims? To find out that he was
doing what he was doing is enough to

the hair on the back of your head stand
up.

If I was a person of violence, I would
have taken them out.

The sun set over this metropolitan city,
and we were joined by the paranormal

investigators of Milwaukee to help us
with tonight's investigation.

As they set up their equipment upstairs,
Bobby and I began by the bar.

With everyone in place, our
investigation could begin.

Almost immediately, Bobby claimed to
feel a very distinctive energy.

And so far, the strongest ones, there's
a lot of energies here, but so far I'm

picking up on two really distinct ones.

There's one that's an older, kind of an
older man. He's got glasses, a lot of

coughing and wheezing. And then there's
another fairly tall person dressed in

drag and, you know, likes it here. It
was kind of the heyday.

But having said that, you know, again,
walking up.

We always try to establish the mentality
of Dahmer here.

It's like we walk into these places and
we try to walk into the footsteps of

Jeffrey Dahmer, and he was very quiet.

He could just slip into any situation
and go unnoticed. That's what I'm

up on, is that he was likable.

Let's take a walk and see what we might
be able to sense, or

I'm trying to tune in where Dahmer might
have.

I think he came back here a little bit,
but, you know, he was really away from

all the main hub. This seems like a
focal point in the room, you know.

And he kind of stayed away from that a
little bit.

Well, we do know that he liked to blend
in. I mean, staying away from all the

major stuff, but yet sitting back and
stalking in a way.

He definitely had his eyes.

open for that right type of person,
which just makes me sick to my stomach.

As we dug deeper in the basement of this
building, upstairs the paranormal group

were encountering some bizarre activity.

Just had someone, something, took
Michael's flashlight and put it in and

it on the ground. I don't know if you
can see, but there's a trifield meter

trying to get a UMAF reading off the
flashlight.

We've had a few readings in different
places.

It's okay, move the flashlight.

Just a little bit.

Yeah, he's like right by the door.

Really, that's why I sent him there.

I was feeling somebody, like, standing,

it was the water dripping out of the

Bobby felt drawn to the apartment
upstairs.

It's dilapidated. It's kind of got a
sort of abandoned feel about it, but I

can imagine what went on

here, but only factually. It's just
absolutely.

Disgusting, and so much so that not just
in the

things that took place up here, but the
people who lived here, it's almost

torturous.

The person that's here, and of course
the desperate, desperate need for money,

and what this person would do to
himself, or have let

somebody else do to him, just for money.

Perfect Jeffrey Dahmer territory, if you
ask me.

It's very, very toxic.

It does have that feel, doesn't it? I
think toxic is a good word to use.

Dilapidated. I think it definitely was a
good setting.

For, you know, like, when the stories
that we heard before of Dahmer going to

some of these places, doing what he did
to the prostitutes and just leaving

them, you know, he would do that here.

But he wouldn't kill this person.

Despite the dereliction and desolation,
nothing was leading Bobby to believe

that Jeffrey Dahmer's presence was here.
We were no closer to a conversation

with the serial killer, so we rejoined
the others in the bar.

He was kind of concerned about who we
were and coming in.

When we went to the stage area, there
was a, well, I wasn't sure at first if

was a man or a woman, but I'm pretty
sure it was one of the drag queens.

And she's kind of defensive about people
coming back behind the stage and behind

the curtain area.

Exactly where we were doing the
temperature gauge.

Can I butt in for a second? Mm -hmm.

It's surprising how much you people know
without knowing anything.

Half of what you people are feeling is
close to being true. When you say you

the feeling he was there and depressed,
he was, because he couldn't get enough

drugs to satisfy him.

Often mistaken for a girl because of the
length of his hair.

But he was totally burned out on drugs.

But I'm sitting here listening to you
talk that you get the feeling of stuff.

None of you could have known this.

Bobby and the paranormal group both felt
that the Cella V Club may hold some

residual energy, but not Jeffrey Dahmer.

I've just returned from the
investigation at Cella V Club.

Interestingly, the owner corroborated a
lot of things that Bobby...

In our quest for absolute evidence of
the spirit of Jeffrey Dahmer, I knew we

had to move the investigation onto the
location where most of his barbaric

crimes happened.

a place where he fulfilled his sadistic
fantasies, a place of death and

destruction.

Jeffrey Dahmer was apprehended when one
of his victims, or would -be victims,

was able to escape with one handcuff and
attract the attention of police.

Well, he stopped and talked with the
officers, and he said, you know, started

talking about Dahmer, and the officers
decided to investigate further.

The officers were able to get into the
apartment and were able to subdue

Despite his charm at the door, the
police were able to figure out that,

minute, this guy, something's wrong with
this apartment.

And that led to the discovery of trophy
heads and various parts of human bodies

that he was keeping in his refrigerator.

Dahmer had kept parts of some of his
victims that he enjoyed, kept those in

freezer. That's how his crimes were
uncovered.

I wanted to get as close an
understanding as I could about Dahmer

that led up to his capture.

We went to meet Glenda Cleveland, a
former neighbour of the monstrous

You live next door to where Jeffrey
Dahmer's old apartment building stood.

you describe for me what the building
actually looked like and where Jeffrey

Dahmer's apartment was in the blog?
Okay, Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment, it was

near the rear of the building.

He had an aquarium in the window, and I
used to love to just sit and watch the

fish. Do you think that he was quite a
cunning person? Yes, yes, yes.

He knew exactly what he was doing.

What was the reaction of all the
residents shortly after?

They were moving out and moving out
fast.

What do people still, what do they feel
about the land out there? Here is

something of everything.

You know, some people say they have
seen, you know, actual people, ghosts,

I guess, whatever you want to call them,
you know, out there.

It was clear that the apartment block
still holds many dark secrets.

Although the building no longer exists,
we were about to find out that the

murder site was still very much alive.

Jeffrey, are you here?

It's infuriating. Why are you moving?

In February 1992, Jeffrey Dahmer was
brought to trial for the murder of 17

Despite a plea of insanity, the
overwhelming evidence led to a

the dismemberment and murder of 15 of
his victims.

Jeffrey Dahmer was charged for 17
murders, 16 here in Wisconsin and one in

Ohio. Dahmer justified the killings by
basically admitting that he was too weak

to overcome his fantasies.

There was a plea on the part of his
attorney of not guilty by mental...

disease or defect, but the jury didn't
believe that.

Dahmer was sentenced to 957 years, yet
would only serve two.

Dahmer had predicted that he might be
killed by a black inmate, yet he refused

to be housed in a secure ward and
insisted he be put in with the general

population.
